A family favorite! This has become a staple in our dinner rotation.
I used this marinade for chicken kebabs to take camping and it was delicious. I’d like to try it with the pork as listed too, but we just had pulled pork, so I went with chicken breast.
Would this work in an airfryer? I don’t have a grill.
Definitely need to marinate this overnight. I was in a rush to make supper so not all of the chicken on the skewers had the flavor but the ones at the bottom of the bowl …. OMG… brought me back to my childhood. Thanks for the perfect recipe!
Julius – did you find the flavor similar to a Chicken Adobo? I’ve been trying for quite a while to find a recipe that really has that same flavor, and I’ve not been successful! This one seems like it might be really close.
any one know the calories per serving for this? It’s not showing up for me.
Thank you, I’ll correct this. 135 calories.
When I put all this into WW it tells me is 5 points if you make 16 skewers, but the recipe says the serving size is 4oz, which leads me to believe there should only be 10 skewers (40oz of next to start with), which makes the points 8. Am I doing something wrong in my calculations? We are eating this tonight for dinner.
Are you using the recipe builder? The only accurate way to determine any recipe’s SmartPoints® value is to plug the ingredients into the recipe builder on the Weight Watchers website (Click on “My Foods,” select “Recipe,” and click “Create a recipe.”) which does not count fruits and vegetables in recipes in the calculations as they are now 0 points.
The SmartPoints® calculator isn’t meant for recipes and will often give you the wrong points (usually higher) because it’s counting the fruits and vegetables. So if you see a recipe with a SmartPoints® value that’s different from what the calculator tells you, now you know why.
I’ve seen several people ask about the calorie count. I looked up just the 4 oz serving for Tyson boneless pork ribs on my fitness pal app. They are 140 calories & 5 grams of fat. So maybe that will give us something to go by.
What is the nutritional value, please?
Let me check this one…
Omg!!! This is by far the best marinade EVER! We marinated it for 2 days bc we went out and got back too late to make them and I think it made it even better. So tender and flavorful. My husband isn’t the easiest person to wow when it comes to new recipes. Usually he’ll say “Yeah it’s good” or “It’s pretty good” but tonight I got “Wow. This pretty damn good”! Thank you for this. It will be made again and again.
Thanks Betty!

any clue how to do it with bone in ribs?
I would assume you could just leave the ribs whole and skip the skewers.
Would this work cooking the ribs in the marinade in the crockpot?
I love these so much! I have made them several times. As for a side, I usually have corn on the cob
I make this ALL the time because my husband and I love it! I live in place where pork products are not sold, so we use an incredibly lean cut of beef to make this recipe. It has slightly more calories than pork, but not too much. If you're anti-pork or can't get it, its an excellent substitute. The longer you let it marinade, the better it is!
Any idea what the new Points Plus value is?
Fat/cals please? These were yummy, my picky kids ate 3 skewers each!
Calories count please!!!
How many calories is this recipe per serving?
Can you use red wine vinegar instead of white vinegar? Does it change the taste much?
You use bone-in pork ribs and then cut the meat off the rib bones into 1 inch cubes? Is that correct?
My husband wants me to make these once a week! And he says he doesn't like Filipino cuisine. It's our secret! Thanks for sharing, it was very tasty and easy to prepare.
Super easy and delicious!! Will be making these again!
I made these and they were AMAZING!!!
I'm anxiously awaiting for the calorie count on it too! They sound SO yummy and I can't wait to make them!
I used this marinade on Tofu and it was simply delicious! I will never again use another marinade to prepare tofu. Thank you so much!
can I use gingerale??
Could this marinade be used on veggies or in a rice? Looking for ideas to spice up my carrot, squash, zuchinni mix that I usually serve with skewers.
I was hoping to make these tonight but don't have any Sprite (or any soda for that matter) in my house. Any suggestions for a substitute?
FYI… they work on a gas grill, but taste better on charcoal. Some filipinos add ketchup to the marinade too. But that may increase calories.
Mine is marinating right now for tomorrow's night dinner. I just cleaned up from fixing the swedish meatballs. They were a total hit with my family. I love your website and have already grocery shopped for 6 meals!! I would love suggested sides to go along with the recipes…..like what you typically fix. Thanks!!
Most of the marinade gets tossed, but honestly I will have to remake them to give you the correct calories. As the weather warms I will add them to my list.
I'm doing WW but my husband is just counting calories. How many calories are in the marinade? Thanks so much for this site! I have lost 9 lbs in 3 weeks and my husband has lost 8 lbs now, we love the recipes and it makes eating better so easy and flavorful. Thanks again!
This looks really good! Can you please add the actual calories and other nutritional information you normally add? Thanks! Can't wait to try!
I used this marinade to make chicken skewers, and they were a huge hit. The chicken was nice and tender. Served with grilled pineapple and roasted sweet potatoes. Thanks for another success!
Hi Gina. I live in an apartment and don't have a grill. Any ideas on the best way to cook these? I have a George Forman.
How many calories per serving is this?
Made these last night and my youngest, who is the hardest to please, gave thumbs up! I've also made the asian glazed chicken, asian turkey meatballs and the carnitas, all with rave reviews! All are SO good!
Sure!
All I have on hand is Sprite Zero. Think that will work?
Yes, I started doing ww when I was getting married, then again after my baby. It works!!
My filipino friends grandmother used to make these and we were lucky enough to be invited over for dinner several times. They were so yummy. I have these marinating as we speak and it smells just like I remember. I used pork tenderloin cut very thinly which I will skewer onin a ribbon effect. I also threw in some chicken thighs as there was plenty of marinade. Now I have tomorrow's dinner ready too!
I just found your website and I am hooked. I'm curious if you started off by joining WW? Do you have a success weight loss story to inspire me? I need all the help I can get.
My Filipino friends made fried rice on the side but any salads would be great.
What are some good sides to go with the skewers? I will be making them with steak and veggies this weekend. Need some ideas on what to pair with it. Thanks!
I can't find the photos…did you ever photograph this??? Lyn
I actually plan on making them again this weekend to photograph them. You will love this!
Thinking of using this marindade with pork tenderloins then grilling whole. Would like to see a photo of the skewers though.
Yes! I am remaking these to add a photo. These are always a hit at my BBQs!
Can I use diet 7-up? These look so yummy!
Can I make these in the oven? If so, how do you suggest? Thanks! I love your blog!!
These were a big hit in my family! My 2-year-old NEVER eats meat and I think she ate about 3 skewers worth!!
3 pts for 1 skewer
What is the portion size ?
Aren’t these amazing!!!
Just made this last night with beef and it was delicious!
I was wondering about using beef. I am going to make these tomorrow for sure!
Is there information on the portion size? I see how many it makes and what the points are but what exactly is a portion?
I tried this and love it… i’m sure my bible study friends will love this. We always bring a dish with us to share….. thanks! xoxo
Gina
