  1. This is an awesome recipe. I’ve never had a problem with it not setting up! I beat on high and it always comes out fabulous! A favorite of ours and make it all the time. Highly recommend.

  2. Thank you Gina for another great recipe.
This was a great strawberry pie( used 16oz, sliced half on bottom, half on top).
I was out of bananas . I used your graham cracker crust recipe( gluten free version) and my family loved it. Very Light….will be making several times this summer.

    Hi Gina,
Can you use regular homemade whipped cream (heavy whipping cream, sugar, vanilla) instead of either Cool Whip or truwhip?
I have made this recipe many times; and it’s fabulous; but after reading the ingredients in Cool Whip, I would love to be able to use homemade whipped cream.

Gina – can you please add the WW Smart Points Value? This recipe sounds great, but doesn’t have the weight watchers points value.

  5. Anyone in UK suggest alternatives as we do not have cool whip or graham crackers here & I am dying to try this recipe. I have got to make something for a special occasion & want the dessert to be special but without all the fat & calories!

    1. Digestive light biscuits & either low fat Greek yoghurt or creme fraiche, or whipped Elmlea light. Haven't tried it yet but if I do will lwt you know.

I have now made this twice…once for Thanksgiving and once yesterday for my Dad's Birthday. The first time I made this, it never full set…the taste was fabulous, but it looked like a melting snowman. I remembered my issues from last time and made it 24 hours ahead, thinking it would give it plenty of time to set. Around 3pm Sunday, it was still wiggly, so I decided to stick it in the freezer. The result was like mock ice cream cake. It was delicious (but sort of difficult to eat). I think next time I make this (I have the ingredients for a second one), I might freeze for only an hour (prior to serving). Thanks for the recipe, Gina!

  7. This is in my fridge right now. We eat skinny taste multiple times a week around here and it suits my weight watcher needs perfectly. My husband who is not on weight watchers thinks I am lying when I tell him it is healthy and he has seen a difference as well! I entertain often and our guest are blown away when I tell them it is good for them. You are the best!

  8. My friend brought this over today for our New Year's Eve dinner. I made your Crockpot Chicken & Black Bean Tacos.

    Both were amazing!

  9. Just made this and it's great! I pureed an extra banana and whipped it into the cream mixture just for a little more banana flavor, and it tastes amazing! Such a good recipe!

  10. Awesome finish to a dinner party the other evening. Didn't even tell folks it was reduced fat. The entire thing was noshed in no time at all. My wifey snuck a bit out of it before I went to cu sliced up for folks.. another epic win!

This pie is AH-MAZING! I made it for a bbq at my parent's house and my dad, who is NOT on a diet, ate about half of it on his own. Once I told him it was skinny he didn't believe me. Everyone loved it so much, and now its the only thing my family lets me bring to gatherings (which is fine with me since its so easy and delicious). I'm a long long time follower and I love your blog, its a life saver. This is my second time doing weight watchers and because of you I have been able to stick with it. Thanks so much for what you do!

  12. I left out the vanilla and added a 1/3 cup of natural peanut butter to the cream cheese mixture and it was amazing! Thanks for sharing your recipes!

  13. I'm in Canada so I sometimes have issues with the difference between oz and fl oz… which is the Cool Whip here referring to? Doing some conversions, I came up with 8fl oz = 236ml (1 cup), and 8oz would come out to 800ml (about 3.3 cups). Both are within the realm of being reasonable, but they're pretty different :S

  14. Made this for Father's Day and for some reason, it just didn't do it for me. The banana cream pies (& coconut for that matter) I've enjoyed are more of a custard than just cream. This just seemed like a lot of whipped cream with bananas. Love your recipes, Gina, but this one must just have been a difference in preferences.

  15. Just made this today… really good! Used french vanilla cool whip and sprinkled cinnamon on the top (DH's suggestion!) instead of chocolate!

  16. This was SOO good!! I made this for my family and they loved it! We're HUGE banana lovers and practically eat them everyday so this was a perfect pie. Love that it was lighten up! How do you just come up with this amazing stuff?! Could you please make a recipe for keylime pie?! My dad is a huge fan of key lime pie! But I want a lighten up version and your the best!! I make your recipes all the time (I've printed almost all of them out) and have learned a lot from them. I'm 16 and want to go to culinary school and your really preping me for that while helping my family stay in shape which is great! Can't wait for more recipes! Thanks soo much! 🙂

  17. I made this for our potluck at work. It was a hit. Even people who were not watching their weight lived it. I think next time I have to add a little more cream cheese because it did not firm up as much as I would have liked. Still yummy though.

  18. I made this pie the other night when I had my parents over for dinner. It was a huge hit! I added some sliced bananas on top as well. I didn't feel like I was eating a "diet" dessert at all! Delicious!

  19. Do you have any idea how many points per slice the pie would be if I made the pie with Tru Whip vs. Cool Whip?

  20. I made this for Thanksgiving, omg hands down my new favorite pie! It was amazing, I already got requests for another coming from both people who love sweets and others who rarely eat any kind of dessert! This I'd brilliant, thanks Gina!

Do you have a recipe for key lime??? I thought this could possibly be turned into a key lime pie, what do you think?

  21. I made this today and it was delicious! It's one of the best recipes I've found that doesn't taste like "diet" food. Thanks for sharing, Gina!

  22. Made this today. It's delicious and everyone loves it, however, there is a bit too much topping. I felt like I could have doubled the bananas, halved the topping and no one would have been the wiser. It would still be delicious. So… that's what I'm going to do next time.

  23. I just made this the other night and it was absolutely amazing hands down the best dessert I have ever made in my whole life! Everyone that has tried it has loved it and it was so super duper easy! I am so glad I found your site it is great. I also tried the chicken parm and it was yummy as well! Thanks so much… get on Facebook soon! Also you need your own show on Food Network 🙂

  24. I made this for July 4th and it was a hit! I used all fat free ingredients for the pie filling, and since I could not find chocolate shavings, cut up a dark chocolate Hershey bar. LOVE this recipe! Quick, easy, healthy, AND delicious! 🙂

  25. Looks lovely. It's a shame we don't get graham crackers or cool whip in the UK so we can't make it 🙁

  26. I've been pouring over your recipes. I'm so excited to find real recipes. And I'm so glad to not find artificial sweeteners all over the place. I do not feel comfortable using splenda and the like if my 7 year old will be partaking.
Can't wait to try some of these recipes. Great, great site!!!!!

I don't off hand but I've been using Truwhip lately, no hydrogenated oils, 100% natural, organic and no hfcs. Google it to see where they sell it near you. It's not fat free but it's light.

  28. I love your site and the wonderful recipes! I'm almost afraid to ask this question but I'm trying to get educated about nutrition relative to my husband's heart condition (blockage building in arteries) and it sounds like trans-fats are as bad as/worse than saturated fats. Since "hydrogenated oil" is the third ingredient in FF Cool Whip, would you know the total amount of trans fats in an 8oz container of FF Cool Whip? (I've emailed Kraft and had no reply.)

  29. Made this yesterday (just used Truvia instead of sugar), it was so good and a hit with my parents! So easy to make! Thanks!!

So good! I have made about 5 of these so far, and keep getting requests from my family to make more. When I make a pie, it gets eaten within 2 days! Definitely a favorite!

  31. Made this today, tastes delicious, but my whip cream mix turned runny in the fridge (didn't affect the taste). Any tips?

  32. Delicious! We decided to use Splenda (helps with dad's diabetes) and allowed us to add a tbsp of cocoa. So good! No change to the points. We are having a really hard time just eating one piece. Thanks for your hard work with all of these recipes. I made so many dishes this weekend from your recipes. I will comment on those recipes too!

  33. This was a hit at our families Easter celebration! Thanks so much. So yummy and a little cheesecakey tasting so I may try the custard with some cherries or strawberries:) I am inspired and it was so easy to put together.

  34. Can't Wait to try tyhis recipe.. my hubby wants banana pudding for his birthday and i stumbled across this pie….think i might make this instead… is there a bana pudding recipe on the site?

Gena do they sell any low fat or fat free whipped cream there? Otherwise maybe adding some fat free Greek yogurt instead?

  36. Gina! I'm a new fan =) I live in australia and there is no cool whip! Tragic I know I grew up in the usa, so I really know what I'm missing….is there anything you can think of that would be an acceptable substitute?
    Thanks so much!

    Gena

  37. I've made this many times for myself and my family, and let me tell you that they have been blown away! I'm only a teen, but I impress everyone with this recipe! Thank you! I even got extra-credit in my cooking class for bringing this in!

  38. Gina – the recipe looks amazing (as do all of your recipes!!). I share your website frequently because it's like food porn.

I see from above comments that the pie had 5.5 WW pts on the old plan and it looks like it has 5 pts on WW plus? Is that correct?

Thanks for all the wonderful recipes.

    Debra

  39. Gina:
I have lost 42 lbs on WW since last April. This pie is FANTABULOUS! I made it for a fish fry at my church and it was history immediately. I shared a piece with my mother in law to half the points. Thanks for all you do-love learning how to eat healthy!
    Marina

  40. This was soooo good! I just found your website and I have tried a couple of your recipes and they were awesome. I can't wait to try more I did put this recipe in the WW recipe builder and it came out to 6 points. I didn't add any chocolate shavings. I did put the nutrition info in the points calculator and it came out to 5 points. Any idea why they would be different?

Thanks for all the great recipes.

  41. This pie was WONDERFUL. However, I found it set up better (and tasted better) the next day. Next time I make this, I will do it the evening before I plan on serving it.

Also, a very good low-fat graham cracker crust recipe is to crush 3 ounces of low-fat graham crackers, and then mix them with a tablespoon of packed brown sugar and two tablespoons of melted butter.

  42. This was the easiest thing in the world to make! Thanks so much for all of your recipes. I am super domestically challenged, but you've managed to get even me cooking. I made both this recipe and the baked potato soup this weekend and both are delicious!

  43. Gina – Just discovered your site and can't wait to make this for my son's birthday. Banana Cream Pie is his favorite and with your recipe, I can have a slice too and stay on WW plan. Question – Is the 5.5 points for the old system or the new points plus? Thank you! Michele

You can make your own by putting graham crackers in the blender and combining it with a little melted butter and pressing it into the pie dish.

If not, use what is available in Aussie!

  45. This looks SO incredible! Just wondering where/how I would get a "graham cracker crust" to put it in… in Australia? I can't wait to try this out! Thanks so much!

  46. Gina – this pie was RIDICULOUS. I all but licked the mixing bowl making it! I had an extra pie crust in the freezer so I used that instead – but I'm fantasizing about what a graham cracker crust would taste like!

I think this pie would be perfect with practically any summer fruit – mango, strawberries, blueberries… yum!

  47. oh my goodness! this pie is AMAZING! i shared it with my family and a friend. i told everyone the last 2 slices are MINE! haha it was great. i'm excited for next summer because i definitely plan to throw a layer of strawberries in there. thanks so much for these recipes!

  48. making this tonight. i cannot wait to have this after a great workout. thanks so much for your amazing recipes. i've always been scared to do the recipe thing. but you have motivated me so much!

  49. I made this pie last night because I had friends coming over to play cards, so they were the guinea pigs, they absolutel LOVED IT!!!! I had like two pieces left over and my brother and sister in law came over today. Needless to say my sister in law wants the recipe. Even my husband ate it and loved it. This is the 3rd recipe I have tried and all 3 are outstanding. Thanks for the great recipes. Michelle

  50. Hi Gina….
This recipe is great (I'm sure you're not sick of hearing that!!!). The second time I made it, my creative cooking juices got flowing — after I put the sliced bananas on the crust, I put a layer of fat free/sugar free banana pudding then I put the cream cheese mixture on top. Instead of chocolate shavings on top, this time I put toasted sliced almonds. My husband loved it!! He's trying to lower his tryclycerides which means cutting down on fat and sugar – so I made the pie with fat free cream cheese, sour cream and cool whip….also used Equal instead of the sugar and it worked out just fine. Also a great recipe for diabetics. Thank you Gina for all the hard work you do coming up with these recipes….it's a big help to so many people!

  51. I made this yesterday and it was super easy and so amazing. I actually put it in the freezer to set. I have been craving bananna cream pie and was thinking about going to perkins to get a piece but one piece is 12 points. Who can afford that? Plus I think this one tastes better with fresh bannans.

Thanks Jessica! I love banana cream pie so I HAD to make this light!! So happy you liked it as much as I do!

  53. Gina, I'm new to your website and made this Banana pie last night. It was awesome! I felt like I was cheating it was sooo good!! One question though, when you say 5.5 WW points is that per slice or for the entire recipe?

  54. This is by FAR my families FAVORITE desseret! My husband doesn't even like pie and I told him to just give it a try and he asked for a second slice! He thought it was amazing! He also didn't know that it was "healthy" low in cal and fat. He was very shocked to hear that! Our extended family and friends all ask for this recipe whenever we bring it to dinner gatherings. Thank you so much for your blog it's amazing and I tell everyone about it. I LOVE IT! I use at least 1-3 of your recipe a week! Thanks for your beautiful photos and wonderfully yummy food. Keep up the great work! P.S You really should have a cookbook I'm SURE it would sell like crazy!

  56. I looove this website! THANK YOU! Wish you were on Facebook too!
I recently lost 55 pounds, wanting to loose 10 more. I love your recipes and any words of encouragement you have! IT WORKS!

  57. I made this pie today for my husband and he loved it! I'm so glad I found this website! Bravo!

  58. can you explain cool whip???
I live in Australia, we don't have a product by that name, if I new what it was I could find a substitute, Love your recipe's

  59. I went home today during my lunch break and made this, it is in my fridge and I can't wait til desert time! I tasted the filling of course and it was AMAZING, I am so excited to taste the finished product. My hubby is going to love it. Thanks again Gina for another great recipe. XOXOXOXOXXOXOXO

  60. EXCELLENT PIE AND EASY-CAN'T BEAT A COMBINATION LIKE THAT. THANKS FOR PROVIDING WW POINTS ON YOUR RECIPES. MY 6 YEAR OLD GRANDSON ASK FOR SECONDS.

  61. Any banana dessert for me is a great dessert! Especially in a pie! Don't know how Splenda would taste, you would have to test it out. I prefer using sugar, just using less of it.

    Yummy, this looks so good.

First time commenting but I love all your recipes. Thanks for providing healthy alternatives to some of my favorite foods!

  63. Splenda = BLECH!!! I like Truvia, though. 1/4 cup of sugar is 4 points; only .5 points per serving. I think it's worth it. Banana Cream Pie is my absolute, #1, all-time favorite dessert! Guess what I'm making tonight. Go ahead. Guess.

  64. I was wondering if anyone has tried substituting sugar for splenda. Does the finished product taste the same and do you use the same amount? Does anyone know?

I'm a dessert fan but most healthified recipes are disappointing. This one sounds more "real" than most that have had fat & sugar reduced. I love that it's not made with fat-free, sugar-free instant pudding, which is what I would have done.
