Strawberry salad made with mixed greens, kale and spinach, sliced almonds, crumbled gorgonzola cheese and topped with poppy seed dressing – perfect for summer!
Strawberry and Gorgonzola Salad with Poppy Seed Dressing
This makes a wonderful light lunch or a perfect side salad to serve with grilled chicken. Other healthy strawberry salads I enjoy during this time of year are Grilled Chicken Salad with Strawberries, Spinach, and Goat Cheese or a super simple Strawberry Cucumber Salad.
Today it really feels like Spring here on the East Coast. Temperatures are supposed to get into the eighties, which is quite a change from the snow we had two weeks ago! I’ve been on a salad kick big time, and even started a Pinterest board dedicated to salads called “Bikini Ready Salads” because summer will be here before you know it.
What is Poppy Seed Dressing made of?
This poppy seed salad dressing is a simple vinaigrette made with honey, poppy seeds and minced shallots.
I love fruit in my salads, especially when combined with the texture of nuts such as almonds and a soft cheese like Gorgonzola. The sweetness of the strawberries compliments the cheese, and the poppy seed dressing ties it all together. And side bar, I am looooving Organic Girl’s I heart baby kale mix.
You can swap the almonds for any nut you like, such as walnuts or pecans and the cheese can be swapped with goat cheese. For Paleo diets, leave out the cheese and use raw honey in the dressing. Naturally gluten free.

I really love this dressing – will it keep for a few weeks if I make a bunch? I know some homemade dressings don't keep as well…
I made this tonight for dinner and it was incredible!!! I substituted the spring mix for baby spinach and omitted the Gorgonzola…this quickly became one of my favorite salads…EVER!!!!!! My daughter who doesn't care for dressing even loved it!!! Thank you so much Gina!!!
what can be substituted for red wine vinegar?
I made this last night for a family dinner party, it was a BIG hit! Thank you again for a nother great and healthy recipe!
Would Apple Cider Vinegar work or is there such thing as just cider vinegar? Sorry if that's a silly question. 🙂
Gina, this looks and tastes so good (I know it, even before I taste it.) Thanks for sharing. Just pinned that beautiful picture. 🙂
Blessings,

I have grown to love strawberries and I already love Feta cheese so this is going to be a delight. I also love poppy seed dressing. Can't wait to try this. Thank you for sharing.
Couldn't resist this salad…saw this and had to make it last night. It was sinfully delicious!!
Love this dressing!
I've been putting sweet fresh strawberries and gorgonzola (my fav cheese) in salads for many years….but never tried it with Poppy Seed dressing! So will be making your dressing this week! Looks yummy. I was thinking of replacing the poppy seeds with chia seeds…what do you think?
Why not : )
Beautiful salad!! this is a perfect for a spring lunch! Just over the pops of red over the kale!
Mr. & Mrs. P
I have made a similar salad for years! It is truly a favorite! I'll sometimes use blue cheese or feta to change it up.

I found it in my local supermarket, but you can use any mixed greens.
I love summer salads with fruit, this looks so good. I didn't even know baby kale existed but now I MUST get some!
It's snowing here but I'm choosing to ignore this fact as I day dream about summer. This salad is the perfect denial meal for a day like today!

I've been loving your recipes for a while now, and I just recently started trying to follow a somewhat Paleo diet. I'm so happy that you have also started coding recipes as Paleo; I can continue to enjoy them as I try out this new lifestyle. Thank you Gina!
Gina – I'm not a fan of bleu cheese of any variety. Is there another cheese that you would recommend as a substitute? How would this change the Points + value? Thanks in advance for taking time to respond. I love your blog and all the great ideas you provide. Your recipes are delicious and are helping me in my weight loss journey. Thanks!
I bet Feta cheese would be yummy!
It is!
It is!
You can get the fat free feta. I've found I enjoy it a lot in salads & don't miss the fat content.
I use Goat Cheese and its fantastic with strawberries!
Beautiful strawberries! Just the look of them whets my appetite as opposed to the usual All green salad! Cheers!
Gina, I love, love, love your blog!!! I started weight watchers in March 2007. I lost 24 punds and then we moved and I had some other things going on. Needless to say I gained 15 of that back but only due to my lack of effort.
Weight Watcher recipes are great and my whole family loves them. I am adding you to my blogroll at www.getinshapefor2008.blogspot.com
