Cross between smoothie and milk shake, this fro yo shake uses frozen yogurt and fresh bananas and berries. Perfect for a quick dessert or even breakfast and takes less than 5 minutes to make!
Very Berry Banana Fro Yo Shake
Another smoothie recipe I love using greek yogurt is my Indian inspired Mango Lassi. For an-on-the go filling and protein packed smoothie, I also enjoy PB + J Smoothie or this Superfood PB Banana and Cacao Green Smoothie.
I recently fell in love with Stonyfield’s Organic Vanilla Frozen Yogurt. I can’t believe how good it tastes and it’s hard to believe it’s fat free! If you haven’t tried it and are looking for a healthier vanilla ice cream alternative, you’ll love it and it has the same live cultures as it’s yogurt.
For best results, make sure the bananas are really ripe, the riper the sweeter your shake will be. I like to use frozen bananas, you can even use frozen berries!

How do I find your shakeology recipes and the corresponding weight watchers points?
Thank you-drinking this as I type. I really appreciate all of the work you put into your blog/recipes. Everything (and I've tried a lot!) that I've made of yours had been wonderful. Thanks again!!
I can't wait to try this…looks so refreshing and I've been wanting something for breakfast or in between meals. Thanks!
I made this for hubs and myself this morning and it was so good! I actually found frozen Greek yogurt at our grocery store, which was even better because it gave us 9g of protein/serving!
I bet that tastes AMAZING!!! 😀
Oh my! I made this tonight after my husband and I walked two miles… such a great treat and no guilt! (:
Looking forward to making this, have been making smoothies with Greek yogurt with banana, strawberries, wheat germ, almond milk, my fiber powder, a dollop of peanut butter & crushed ice. Will adjust to this Very Berry Banana Delight!!
I made this last night and so very delicious! Love your recipes
This is AMAZING. I'm drinking it as I write this and loving every sip. I used frozen strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and red raspberries with the banana and it's delicious. Thanks so much, Gina!
What store have you been able to find the Stonyfield Froyo at? I went to Fry's (Kroger) today and found a store brand low fat yogurt, but I'd love to try the Stonyfield. Thanks for the recipe, it looks delicious!
I saw it at Stop and Shop in the "special diets" aisle. Most health food type stores also carry it.
I love this smoothie
Thanks
Didn't know SF had a frozen yogurt. Putting it on my shopping list! Love smooties!
I've been making a morning smoothie that is oh-so-yummy! I'm calling it a Peananalate (Peanut Butter + Banana + Chocolate) Monster: It has one ripe, frozen banana, a handful (maybe 1/2 cup) baby spinanch, a half scoop of chocolate whey protein powder, 2 T (or one heaping plastic spoon) of Natural Peanut Butter, plus about 8 oz water and 6 ice cubes. YUM! I think I've got it right at 340 calories but no idea on the point value.
I make something similar, haven't posted yet and haven't calculated either.
we recently had the Strawberry Kiwi shake (I added a little frozen blueberries and raspberries) and it was wonderful. we had it with tortas made with your Crockpot Buffalo Chicken (and today, with your Crockpot Pulled Pork). this smoothie/shake looks like a fabulous alternative. yum!!
Love this healthy shake, Gina! It looks so wholesome and flavorful. I've got to try it next time I don't know what to do with leftover fruit!
Trader Joe's nonfat frozen yogurt is my new obsession – tangy and delicious. Would also work well with this.
I'll have to try theirs!
I didn't know Trader Joe's has nonfat frozen yogurt-thanks for posting about it! I know what I will be buying this weekend 🙂
Any suggestions for something other than banana? I am not a fan of them, and it seems like all smoothies or similar recipes call for banana.
Mango would be delicious! Or leave it out, add more berries.
Love it! I love berries and banana together! it's perfect combination!
no offense but that purple color looks kinda ugly…maybe if you added some blackberries maybe like a equal 1/2 cup it would make it more vibrant
I think it's a lovely shade of purple, I painted my daughter's room that exact color 🙂
I also think the color is lovely!
Someone always thinks they can do something better….
I think it looks great.
I have some black raspberry and vanilla swirl fat free frozen yogurt, I think I could use it the same way as your recipe Gina!!!! I'll just add the fresh fruit and I have a bullet machine too !
Love frozen yogurts and this one turned into smoothie is such a clever idea. This will be my breakfast tomorrow! 🙂
Could one use regular non-fat vanilla frozen yogurt (such as greek?)..freeze it…and use that instead?…So difficult to find ready-made frozen yogurt in this part of Europe! Thanking you in advance for any ideas!
Sure!
This looks perfect for summer! Yum!
I just discovered Stonyfield's nonfat froyo! The honey and chocolate flavors are my favorites!
YUMM!! I'll definitely have to look for that FROYO. Smoothies are my go to breakfast… ice cream is my weakness!!
Oh yum, that's the basics for any smoothie I make, but love the idea of using frozen yogurt instead of regular yogurt.
This looks so good!! I keep meaning to bust out my blender but I'm totally slacking. Oh, and I love the purple straws 🙂
I use my magic bullet!
Have you ever tried unscrewing your blender bottom and placing it on a mason jar (load jar up with everything and place blade on and screw on bottom and place on blender). It fits perfectly onto it! It's like the magic bullet but better…I've done salsas, smoothies, shakes, iced coffees, margaritas and what's even better, no mess!!! Just drink ou of the mason jar. "Try it you'll like it", as Mikey would say!!!
Make sure you use the small mouth mason jar!
Awesome idea…thanks!
Mmm…looks so refreshing! I will have to try that Stonyfield frozen yogurt!
I'd have to go to the whole foods market to get the vanilla frozen yogurt (I LOVE their organic yogurt though, it rocks!). So could I just use stonyfield organic vanilla regular yogurt instead? It would probably be more of a smoothie that way I'm sure. It sounds tasty! I hate buying the pre-made pre-packaged ones, you can't even read half the ingredients on the label!
Sure, it would basically be a smoothie, but still good!
Smoothies are my go-to summer treat! Add some protein powder or spinach and it's a meal!
yes, I was tempted to add spinach to this but wanted to keep it purple.
add a small chunk of beet and any smotthie will keep the red color, it's how I fool the fam 🙂
Love that idea!
oooooh, yes, I shall try that for little miss picky pants 🙂
