Skillet Sazon Chicken Tenders
More easy chicken recipes I love are Grilled Bourbon Chicken, Roast Chicken with Rosemary and Lemon and Chicken Zucchini Stir-Fry.
When Karina, my oldest daughter (and the pickier of the two) was younger, and I was making something spicy I knew she wouldn’t eat, I used to quickly whip up this dish. Nothing fancy, just ingredients I always had on hand.
Funny because once she went off to college I never made it again. Recently I ask her which of my recipes she likes most, this one is in her list of top 10. Considering how much she likes it and how quick and easy it is to make, I figured I’d have to share it with you all here. I always served it for her over rice with avocado but you can serve it over farro, quinoa or any grain you prefer. I’ve also taken the leftovers and shredded them in my blender for amazing shredded chicken to use in fajitas and quesadillas.

I was missing tomatoes so I made it my way – used a small can of tomato paste and cut it with chicken broth to thin it out. Served it over white rice and boy was it yummy. I was thinking next time I could add some olives or capers too!
Yum, sounds good!
This recipe was delicious and easy. A winner.
It’s OK for something quick. Nothing to write home about.
While I love many recipes on this site, this one is probably my all time favorite. I have made this recipe several times over the years and it’s always a huge hit. I hadn’t made it in a while and last night I did and was like… man, this is still SO good! So today, I thought it was time I actually post something to praise this recipe. I usually cut up chicken breast instead of using tenders and it’s great! I don’t know how I lived my life without Sazon seasoning… the best!
I am so happy I found this recipe. It’s so good for lunch or dinner. Add the avocado.
I skipped the scallions and used a can of rotel with green chili’s instead of fresh tomatoes and this turned out so yummy! I also sprinkled a little bit of the kraft expertly paired asedero cheese on it and this was amazing!!!!! 😍😍😍
My husband and I have been LOVING so many of the Skinnytaste recipes, but we just finished dinner and he said that this was his favorite, by far! I defrosted chicken cutlets by mistake, but they worked just fine. No scallions, so I used onions and fresh chives and added some left over sliced black olives. This chicken dish was absolutely, off-the-hook delicious!!
One of the easiest, quickest, most delicious work day dinners to make. Definitely in my rotation. Used the recipe to make my own sazon so it’s on hand all the time.. Served it like the photo- over some rice with a little avocado, plus some roasted asparagus on the side, Heavenly!
Made this last night, so simple and delicious!! Will definitely be adding to my rotation of chicken dishes. thanks Gina!!!
Easy and fantastically delicious.
Made this for dinner last night. Amazing!! Thank you.
My fiance and I loved this! We’ve both been juggling long hours at work and new diet/workout routines and this recipe fits right in. So easy and quick to put together and the flavor is incredible…. I plan to make it again very soon, thanks!
Made this last night for dinner!!! Amazing!!! Huge it w/ my husband and I. Gina, I am loving your recipes! Keep them coming!!!
Why not Whole 30 compliant? I’m still learning, but the ingredients look approved?
Some of the older recipes have not been updated yet with the newer tags. I will look into it!
Have you ever done this in the slow cooker?
No It won’t be the same but should be tasty.
OMFGee!!! I made this tonight and I HAD to come here and tell you this will absolutely be a new staple dinner for me!!!! The flavor was AMAZING and sooooo ful-filling! Thanks so much!!
Just made this with shrimp and served over frozen quinoa from Trader Joes. Added Sambal for spice but might just use fresh chilies next time. Quick, easy, and delicious! Thank you!
I made this today with tomato sauce since I didn;t have a tomato and it came out delicous ! Thanks!
Sounds yummy. I might try this with pork chips as well!
Chicken tenders can be found in the frozen meat section. They are breasts cut up into smaller strips.
I have been cooking dinner solely from skinnytaste.com since February and have lost 10 lbs. I have no desire to snack at night because I'm so satisfied from the wonderful flavors of dinner. Gina, you rock!
This was fantastic. I served it with some cilantro lime brown rice I had frozen from another meal. I have made several of your recipes since finding you at the end of last year and they have all been keepers! Thank you!!
Is a chicken tender chicken that is already crumbed? Or just plain chicken breast? Thanks!
I have the raising canes sauce recipe that will go perfect with this dish! Check it out: http://www.cravingqueen.com/copycat-raising-canes-sauce/
Gina, thank you for sharing all of your tasty creations. Our family really enjoyed this easy and flavorful dish!
I made this last night and it was great! It was a simple meal with steamed broccoli and jasmine rice, but my kids loved it! My 7 year old son called it taco chicken (which is a huge compliment from him) and my 5 year old daughter said I should make it every day. The best part was that it was such a fast meal for after football thst my family loved. Next time I'll probably double it to have extra for another meal.
Wonderful, so glad everyone in your house enjoyed this Angela!
I do the same thing to shred chicken but in the stand up mixer while still warm, pulse for a few seconds…amazing:)
Can this be frozen?
I think it would freeze fine!
Looks great, would this freeze well? I'm pregnant and want to make as many freezer meals as possible before the baby.
I've never frozen this, but I think it would freeze fine.
This was wonderful. I served it with your yellow latin rice….mmmm. By eating almost strictly from your website, my husband and I have lost a combined total of 70 pounds. Thank you!!
LOVE THAT!!! Thanks for sharing and glad you enjoyed this!
My husband and I made this together the other night. Delish! My 6 year old wasn't in to it, but my 8 year old totally loved it. THANKS!!
Super easy and yummy! My kids loved it! I had my 13 year old son prepare the Sazon. Thanks, Gina!
This was wonderful! My four-year old (very picky eater) loved it. Also, I'm so happy that you included a link for a sazon spice mixture recipe because, although I live in Seattle and we certainly have it somewhere, I couldn't find either the Badia or Goya brands at the store where I usually go to shop.
I made this with chicken and shrimp and substituted the rice for gluten and gmo free quinoa. Delicious!
Thanks for this great recipe. it looks so simple and delicious. i'll try it tonite!
I made this for dinner last night; phenomenal. My husband came home, "It smells good in here, is that dinner?"
I added a handful of peas to the rice. I had two jalapenos that needed to be used, so I seeded them and sliced thinly. I added about 20 black olives.
Mmm sometimes it doesn't take more than this, and it looks so good! I'm just about to make me some dinner, and this had my stomach rumbling. I bet the sazon seasoning mix makes it taste just that little bit special, lovely ^ ^
Gina this makes me so happy! We're always looking for new ideas for chicken, and easy to do on a weeknight? Bonus! You're a lifesaver!
I'm going to make this tonight! Gina, if I wanted to make this really spicy, what do you recommend? My husband loves spicy food.
I would buy a serrano pepper, dice it and add it with the tomatoes!
Oh I forgot to add in my comments below that I added a pepper as well as I like spicy too! Yum
I am currently cooking this and it smells delicious.
great! Hope you enjoyed!
Looks great and seems like something my two picky eaters won't have many complaints about. BONUS! I can't wait to put this on my menu for next week. 🙂
I am always looking for new weeknight chicken recipes! Thanks for this one!
It's linked in the ingredients, click the link to get it.
you shred chicken in a BLENDER???? doesn't that make it all gummy? i'd rather use two forks than disassemble a blender covered in pulverized chicken! this fascinates me.
Yes, pulse it for a few seconds. Good for fillings!
I missed the Sazon recipe.. where do I find it on the site?
I'm supposing it is a total of 1.25 pounds chicken tenders, not 8 (1.25 lb) tenders?
Looks awesome! I found annatto at a Mexican market this weekend and plan to whip up a batch of your sazon seasoning today.
This looks so good and so simple…my favorite combo! And how timely since you just showed us how to make our own sazon! 🙂 I am always looking for new chicken recipes, so thanks for sharing.
I saw on IG that it looks like you are in Asheville right now – at the Biltmore. That is SUCH a beautiful place. My husband and I were there in February, and it was just amazing. If you want a restaurant suggestion – go to the Grove Park Inn and eat at the Edison. Beautiful atmosphere and amazing food.
Oh yes, and Tupelo Honey was a great spot as well. A bit more casual. But a delicious mix of hippie and soul food. 🙂 Enjoy!
Thanks, yes I love it here!! Beautiful place!
