A low fat ranch dressing will leave you feeling cool as a cucumber! Light and refreshing, perfect on a simple wedge of lettuce, with tomatoes and cucumbers.
This ranch dressing was lightened up with Greek yogurt, low fat buttermilk and light mayonnaise along with cucumbers, Spring chives, parsley and a hint of lemon. If you don't like mayonnaise you could replace it with more buttermilk and yogurt.

ReplyDeletecould I substite the buttermilk with lowfat milk and vinegar? I just don't buy buttermilk because it always goes to waste before I can use it all.
ReplyDeleteYou can buy powdered buttermilk...
DeleteI don't usually comment on your pictures, but that one is really amazing. You are talented in so many ways!
ReplyDeleteI need to try this!
ReplyDeleteSounds fantastic! I can't wait to try!
ReplyDeleteI really need to start making some salad dressings, maybe I would eat more salads! This looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely making this.
ReplyDeleteI'm making this for sure...... thanks for sharing. Nice picture.
ReplyDeleteOMG, that pic is amazing. Gina how do u do it all, and do it so well! The pics, the recipes, the points, I'm in awe!
ReplyDeleteYour friend Julia
This sounds so fresh and light. Perfect for the coming summer heat.
ReplyDeleteHi Shannie Michelle, I have a tip for you for your buttermilk, after using the amount called for in the recipe just freeze the rest in 1/2 cup portions and the voila buttermilk for your next recipe and no more buttermilk to pour down the drain
ReplyDeleteHope this helps
Rachel
looks great, I miss real ranch. Can this be stored for any length of time in the fridge?
ReplyDeleteHow long can this hold up in the frige?
ReplyDeleteThis looks incredible! Can't wait to try it.
ReplyDeleteGreat tip with the buttermilk, thanks for sharing! This would store for about 3 days. You can easily make half instead if you are eating for one.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks about the photo, I actually had a hard time with this one (the photo) and almost didn't post it because the sun was fading!!
Yum! How do you remove the seeds of a cucumber though... just cut out the center?
ReplyDeleteI made this yesterday. My 16 yr old and I really enjoyed it! Thanks
ReplyDeleteI keep a can of "powdered buttermilk" in refrig and use it all the time.. works great!
ReplyDeleteaso.. can ff sour cream be substituted for yogurt?? and I too would like to know how long it will stay fresh? thanx
To scoop out the seeds, cut it in half lengthwise then scoop out the seeds.
ReplyDeleteSour cream would work in place of yogurt, this would last about 3 days in the refrigerator. You can make half if you don't think you'll use it all.
This looks amazing! I can't wait to try it, thanks for the awesome ideas as always!
ReplyDeleteI just made this and it is awesome!! Thank you so much
ReplyDeletereally tasty! i make almost all my own salad dressings but my repertoire is lacking in creamy dressings like this. I wanted to to make something to mix with some broccoli slaw for a quick side dish and this was perfect. I upped the salt a tad and next time I might add some hot sauce to make it a little feisty.
ReplyDeleteThis looks SO good, Gina! I'm going to make it as a dip for veggies so that I'll eat more of them.
ReplyDeleteI just made your Basil Green Goddess dressing and it is fabulous! I have all of the ingredients to make this one next...thank you so much for helping us eat more veggies! BTW I am making your Coconut Chicken Salad for dinner tonight...can't wait! :)
ReplyDeleteJust made this...unbelievably good!!! I would go a bit lighter on the scallions next time because they are a strong flavor but otherwise this is delicious!!! Thank you Gina!!
ReplyDeleteThis is now my New Favorite Dressing. I sooo Love it!! The only thing is that mine was Not this green. Can you tell me why.. what should have I done?
ReplyDeleteThis would make an awesome light snack or side dish. I like to chill my cucumbers beforehand to get them extra crunchy.
ReplyDeleteYum times a bunch! One point for a 1/4 cup of dressing? Unheard of. Thank you AGAIN, Miss Gina.
ReplyDeleteLove it Love it Love It!
ReplyDeleteI used more greek yogurt for more of a dipping consistency. My carrots are superiorly well dressed!
Love this site!
Thanks for all these great recipes.
Awesome dressing!!! Super light, cool and refreshing. I was thinking garlic AND garlic powder?? but it's not overpowering at all. I have a major food aversion to mayo, never used it and never will I have honestly never even touched it so I used moer buttermilk and greek yogurt. Mine came out more watery than the picture but I love it still. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteMade this today and love it! It's so light and crisp. It tastes like summer to me! I love that your dressings are so light that a serving is a 1/4 cup. That's huge, love it! I don't know that I'm ever going to buy bottled again.
ReplyDeleteThis dressing is great! I actually liked this one more than the cilantro lime dressing. Thanks for another wonderful recipe :)
ReplyDeleteI made this today with vinegar and milk instead of buttermilk. It's awesome! It doesn't even taste low fat.
ReplyDeleteJust wondering, how much vinegar and how much milk? Never tried this before.
ReplyDeletethanks
For a 1/4 of a cup of milk, put maybe 1-2 tsp of vinegar or lemon to make buttermilk. Let it sit for a few minutes until it thickens. I like lots of vinegar and like to watch it curdle to buttermilk!
ReplyDeleteWhat type of light mayo do you use? I have light mayo in my fridge but it is 5 grams of fat for 1 tablespoon. Does this sound like yours? I just want to make sure that I don't increase the number of points!
ReplyDeleteThis looks amazing I will be making it soon. We are overflowing with cucumbers right now! Have you tried this with fresh dill?
ReplyDeleteThis would be great with dill too!!
ReplyDeletethis is SO YUMMY. very light and refreshing, I can't wait for my salad for lunch tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful! Light and fresh and flavorful!!!! I did not have parsley so I used cilantro! YUMMO!
ReplyDeleteWhat can I add to this instead of Mayo?
ReplyDeletemine came out runny and not green... hmm
