Fish Florentine

I love fish and try to eat it once or twice a week. You can see all my fish recipes here! This recipe takes under 30 minutes to make, the creamy spinach is what makes the whole dish, made with a little cream cheese, half & half cream and Parmesan cheese. It’s dreamy, delicious and the perfect pairing for the simple white fish.

This easy Fish Florentine recipe, made with a pan seared firm white fish served on a creamy bed of spinach feels like something you would order out in a fancy restaurant!

I adapted this dish from this recipe I found online, which I lightened up simply by reducing the butter, oil, Parmesan and cream cheese. I had reduced-fat cream cheese on hand so I used that instead and it turned out amazing! Rich and decadent and feels like it should be a lot more calories!

Cooking Tips

  • Any firm, white boneless fillet would be great, I choose local and ask my fishmonger for the freshest options available. Here I used cod, but halibut, or sea bass would make a great option.
  • For a thinner piece of fish, adjust the cook time so you don’t over-cook it.
  • When fresh fish is available, wait until the day or day before to buy it before you are going to cook it.
  • If fresh isn’t available, buy frozen instead of previously frozen to control freshness and keep it frozen until you need it.
  • Frozen fish fillets are great to keep on hand in the freezer. You can defrost them overnight in the fridge or pull from from the freezer and put them in an ice bath (in the package if they are individually wrapped or in a sealed Ziploc) for about 30 minutes
  • Swap the fish for chicken breast, scallops or shrimp if you’re not a fan of fish.

Freezer Tips

Refrigerate leftovers up to 2 days or freeze in individual containers for up to 3 months. Reheat in the microwave about 3 minutes.

  1. I have made this before with grouper and now have made again with Tile…. WOW its so awesome! TY❤️

  2. This was amazing, wonderful flavours. I have made it several times and always turns out great. 10 stars, thank you Gina

  3. We made this with Violife cream cheese and Violife parmesan. (Dairy allergy) It didn’t look exactly the same but it tasted great over rice. I think the only problem was that my husband could have cooked the fish a bit longer to improve texture for me.

SO GOOD! This is an impressive dish with minimal work. I’ve made it a couple of times and it’s delicious.

  5. My husband was not at all impressed. He has a hard time eating fish that isn’t fried. I wasn’t thrilled either. Won’t make again.

I absolutely love the fish florentine. It was so quick and easy to make. I used cod which I love so much but want to try it with tilapia, as well. I will keep this in my rotation.

I would give this recipe 10 stars if I could. Never fails. Easy to prepare. So delicious. I’ve made it many times and I will make it again.

  8. This is a delicious recipe! However, I cut the recipe down for one person and made it with flounder. The flounder completely stuck to the pan with such a tiny amount of oil and butter. Next time, I’ll bake the fish and probably use Barramundi or cod. I’ll do the sauce as directed.

  9. Made this for dinner last night. My husband and I gobbled it up. So easy, healthy, and delicious!!! Thank you Gina!!

  10. super easy, super good. I subbed full fat unsweetened coconut milk for the cream, it turned out great.

  11. I used haddock and added seasoning and panko crumbs after flipping. I served with brown seasoned rice. If I were alone, I would have licked my plate. This was that awesome!!

  12. I was surprised how good this was. I have issues finding healthy sauces to use with spaghetti squash but this one did not disappoint. I am not a fan of mushrooms but I tolerated them bcuz the sauce was so good. I didnt remove them bcuz the water that releases from them is required for the recipe so id have to find a replacement veggie that does the same that doesnt turn to mush.

  13. I’ve made this multiple times and it’s so delicious! Such a fresh, light take on florentine.

  14. Great recipe! I used halibut and added a heaping tablespoon of whole grain Maille mustard with the cream (would recommend). I’ve made it twice and it’s now part of the rotation! Thanks!

  15. I normally don’t circle back on recipes to leave a review but this was really good! I used Tone’s ultimate garlic to season the fish (I used tilapia) and spinach. I paired rice as a side. Overall, I’ll be making this again. Very simple and delicious.

  16. Great recipe, will definitely be making again. It’s quick easy and delicious. I added some cherry tomatoes and red chilli flakes which was amazing.

  17. Kids and I devoured this without stopping to speak to each other. That sauce is so lick-the-pan worthy, even tilapia works. Just do it moms; quick, easy and as budget-friendly as need be.

  18. I made this and it was delicious!!
Super quick and easy. I will definitely be making this again & soon!

Excellent! I did add some onion with the red pepper. Also, for a touch of acid, added a squeeze of lemon over all when serving.

  20. Excellent recipe!! Will be making this again. I didn’t have grated Parm and sub shredded Italian blend cheese. Used snowy grouper and served all over quinoa. Delicious!

  21. What a wonderful recipe! I used tilapia, which is what was available. I did use a bit more butter and cheese to please my husband, but we both loved it. Fish was tender and the sauce and spinach were very tasty. Thanks!

  22. This sounds delicious & I’d love to try it, but my husband is allergic to most seafood. He can eat salmon, though. I know the recipe specifies white fish, but do you think salmon would work?

  23. Excellent recipe! Everyone loved it! Although I did make a substitution do to dietary restrictions of some guests. Instead of spinach I used kale and it was still delicious. Definitely using spinach next time. A lemon wedge on the the plate really sets it off the flavor of the fish. Highly recommend!

  24. Made this recipe this evening ..it exceeded my expectations! Every thing was perfect. I cut recipe in half, doubled the spinach …and now I have a couple of meals in the future. Thank you

Wowza! This was better than any restaurant in my tri-state area! Well done, Gina! For a Lenten meal, I almost felt guilty eating it- that’s how decadent it was!

  26. OMG, the Fish Florentine was AMAZING!!! I substituted ICBINB light for regular butter & fat free half & half for heavy cream, which I always do for recipes. I was making it for myself only. I had 1 piece of tilapia. I cut the recipe in half ( except for the spinach-used the whole 6 oz. bag) because I knew I’d want a lot of the spinach mixture. This is going into my line uof favorites.

  27. This really is THE BEST fish recipe!! I used flounder and it was probably a little too thin but it was SO good! I prepared it for one and should have used less cream cheese but it was so rich and yummy. It’s a recipe that you should prep as much as possible. Using two pans is pretty busy but it’s worth it!!!

Excellent, we make with cod loin. Have it about 3 times a month and sometimes just make the spinach as creamed spinach side

  29. This was a perfect recipe—light, fresh, even kid friendly. Will have on repeat for more times than just Lent. Seared fish first stove top in parchment. Love all the flavors

This fish recipe is amazing. I’m in Florida and used tripletail. When I get back to Michigan I’ll use Whitefish from the Lake. The sauce is delicious. I served with mashed potatoes. Next time it will be brown rice. This recipe is a keeper.

  31. I don’t know why I waited so long to try this recipe. Using cod, I made this as written. Absolutely delicious!

  32. Delicious meal. All ingredients blended so well together. Nice to make a meal that did not take a lot of prep time. This is a winner.

  33. I made this last night. My husband has been on a restricted diet this week due to gastritis so when I made this I used minimal butter and seasonings and it still turned out very flavorful and quite filling. I used cod and agree this would be great with chicken or shrimp as well. I sent this recipe to my sister to try since it seems to be Keto Friendly as well.

Super delicious and easy to make. I usually make simple meals so it was nice to explore different ones and this one was perfect. It also pairs well with rice and a little salad!

  35. A great dish, I haven’t had ‘fish florentine’ in the past with red bell pepper. That really made the dish. The red bell pepper also contrasted well visually with the green spinach.

  36. This is my favorite Skinnytaste recipe! Love the spinach! I’ve made this with cod and chicken.

  37. One of the best fish recipes! I made this halved with cod. The cod did fall apart a bit when plating so maybe cook a minute or two less but that’s how you’re going to eat it to get sauce in each bite so we were good with it.

  38. Delicious 😋 It’s quick, easy and filling on its own (I find.) I add sun-dried tomatoes as is mentioned in the Chicken Florentine recipe – I find it adds a complimentary layer of flavour. I used basa filets as that’s what I had on-hand, but any firm fish, including salmon will do nicely.

  39. Easy to make and very tasty. I followed the recipe exactly. It did not need to be changed. Family loved i

  40. Second time I’ve made this and it won’t be the last. Super easy and so tasty. I’d definitely make this if I were having a dinner party.

  41. I added sliced mushrooms to the sauce and it turned out perfectly!! It was so easy and my family fell in love with this delicious dish. I’ve been looking for healthy meal options that actually taste good and this one checks all the boxes.

  42. Love this recipe! I made it exactly as is, but cut the amount fish in half as there are only 2 of us and we like things with lots of sauce. Delicious!

  43. This is so good…new family favorite. I’ve made it twice already. First time I used flounder, which was great. 2nd time I used halibut. Both were excellent! I subbed a couple of spoonfuls of plain greek yogurt in place of the half and half because I didn’t have any on hand. Just outstanding. Going to try your Chicken Florentine next week, and I bet it’ll be amazing as well. Love your recipes!

  44. Excellent recipe! Made it exactly as written with the exception of adding 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes. We like a little heat!

  45. A delicious, healthy recipeI I used halved cherry tomatoes instead of red pepper, used skim milk instead of half and half, and added diced yellow onions. It was perfect!

  46. This was a filling recipe. I made it last night for dinner with frozen codfrom Costco. My husband isn’t a fan of cod but he did enjoy the spinach. I liked the recipe and will likely make a smaller portion of this for myself next time. Thank you.

  47. Brilliant recipe. I substituted Greek yogurt instead of cream and added some mushrooms and onions to the sauce

Loved this recipe! I used Swai fish and 1/4 cup nonfat Greek yogurt instead of half & half. We will eat this again.

  49. The best ever My hubby thought it was the best ever and talked about who to invite over for it. 🤩

  50. Made this tonight and it was delicious. Used half spinach and half swiss chard. Didn’t have cream cheese so substituted goat cheese. Also did have half and half and used lactaid instead. Made it with cod. We ate the lot. Truly very flavorful.

  51. I was skeptical about this being the best fish recipe, but I am now a believer! It was restaurant quality.

  52. The recipe is good, but you have to add more seasoning. I bought the flounder and it your up in the pan.

One of the best recipes I have made…..and I’ve made a lot of different ones! I didn’t even mind the 2 dirty skillets! I only did half of fish (used salmon) but full amount of spinach. Absolutely delicious! This is definitely a keeper! Next time my husband wants me to try it with rainbow trout, as he fishes for this frequently.
    Thanks Gina

  54. Wow! Keeper recipe. I’ve made several from ST and this one might be my favorite so far. First of all, it’s super simple! Ingredients and recipe are straight forward. I halved the recipe as we are just 2, but kept “sauce” the same. Second, I made the fish in the air fryer while I made the “Florentine” and this dish was on the table in 15 minutes! I also added a dash of red pepper flakes and that was a good idea as we like a little kick. Will definitely make again!

  55. The fish florentine is out of this world! I have used the sauce with fish, shrimp, steak, Chicken, etc, and it goes with EVERYTHING.

Divine. Simple to make. Affordable. Delightfully delicious. I’m making this again tomorrow and the next day and the next day!

  57. This recipe is a MUST try. Made it for the first time tonight and when Gina says it tastes like a restaurant dish-she is 1000% spot on. Delicious.

  58. I made this a couple of times (mainly to use up spinach and light cream we had on hand) with different types of fish. I first made grouper in the air fryer, then made barrimundi baked. Both times the ingredients teamed up well with the fish. I added mushrooms both times as we like the flavors they add. I certainly recommend this as a healthy, flavorful dish that is easy to make.

  59. Very yummy. I squeezed a 1/4 of a lemon’s juice onto it and stirred it all around when eating it. Once I merged all of the flavors, it was outstanding.

  60. Love this recipe! I use Mahi Mahi. My hubby doesn’t like peppers so I used onions. One of our favorite fish recipes!

    ,

  61. Hello from Australia. Oh my goodness, we tried this recipe and it was absolutely fantastic, so tasty.
    Thank you for sharing.

  62. Made this tonight and it was fantastic. I used tomatoes instead of red peppers, and whole milk. Will definitely be making this again. I will also use the Spinach sauce with shrimp over spaghetti!

  63. Fantastic. And I usually am not a fish fan. Only minor thing I did different was to add a little red pepper flake.

  64. This recipe works best if you make it complete. It is difficult to halve the butter and olive oil…what is a 1/2 T??? The end result was tasty but even using 9 oz of spinach leaves a lot to be desired. Fortunately I am a cook and adjusted most ingredients to accommodate the 2 servings I needed to achieve.

    1. Or you could use one and a half teaspoons (for 1/2 T) . While my set doesn’t have a half a tablespoon I do have half teaspoon measurement.

  65. This one of my top 2 favorite recipes for fish! I have made it many times. My family loves it, when my son moved out this was one of the recipes he requested to take with him! I live in San Fransisco Bay Area so the fish I use with this recipe are Dover sole, Alaskan halibut and Chilean sea bass. They all taste delicious! Thank you for this great recipe!

  66. Love this recipe! Used the Garden Vegetable cream cheese instead and it added a nice extra flavor to it.

  67. Delicious! Our supply of fresh fish is limited where I live, so I used cod…great flavor but for some reason, it fell apart as it cooked and was hard to serve.

I will make this recipe again, but think I will add more spinach. The sauce was plenty creamy to allow for it and 1/2 cup just didn’t seem like enough. Adding spinach will bulk it up and make it go further.

  68. Made this tonight and substituted for scallops (just seared them 3 minutes per side with salt/pepper and basted in butter at the end), so delicious and felt like a fancy date night meal 🙂 (my kiddos didn’t eat it so not sure how kid friendly it is but my husband LOVED it!)

  69. I have made this three or four times and love it!! I used haddock and cod, so far and they work well. I have served it over rice and with just a piece of bread. I replaced the sauteed red pepper with jarred roasted red pepper, chopped, and throw it in after the spinach has wilted. I just love, love, love this recipe! A great way to get fish and veggies into my meat and potatoes husband

  70. I just had a question preparing the fish like this does it help pull out the fishiness cuz I’ve never had Pacific whitening skin on fillet before and they were giving to me and I would like to make them but I don’t really like fish that has a real fishy taste please let me know thank you I look forward to making this recipe

  71. This dish was so delicious! I will definitely be making this again and again. This is dinner party worthy—that’s how good it is.

  72. This was SO easy and SO good! Even my toddler ate the spinach and red peppers! Will def keep this recipe in my regular rotation!

  73. We made this with salmon and put it all over lemony couscous, and wowww it’s so delicious! Such a tasty & satisfying recipe and nice and easy for a weeknight meal.

  74. This was delicious, didn’t have half & half so used more cream cheese (4 oz)and a splash of water. Also no parm cheese so used Romano. I cooked fish transferred to spinach/arugula (not enough spinach here) in pan. After plating poured the sauce over food. I also need carbs so mine had rice/quinoa under the spinach part. Just shows the versatility of this recipe, thank you for the inspiration!

  75. delicious. here’s my trick. cook the fish first, i used sole. remove to plate and tent with foil. wipe out pan and make sauce, i used frozen spinach. i served the fish over lemon orzo and topped with the sauce and a side of steamed green beans. great meal.

  76. We both LOVED this sauce! I had to adjust, due to what we had (added calories). Used full fat cream cheese and cream and almond milk mixed. But recipe is a keeper!

  77. Extremely good, quick, and easy! Kids had seconds, which they rarely do with fish. I made both tilapia and flounder and both were great. Paired it with your zucchini and tomato orzo. Definitely will make again!

  78. Made this tonight…. So fast and easy and DELICIOUS! This will be a go to recipe moving forward! Thank you for sharing.

  79. Super creamy & tasteful. I used peppadew (1/4 cup, chopped) instead of regular pepper and it turned out very well!

  80. Feel like we ate at a 5 star restaurant. I used Halibut as this is my favorite fish, served over pasta. It was absolutely delicious!!

  81. Great recipe. I think if somehow you could alter the recipe so only one skillet is used. Saves on washing up.

  82. I have made this 4 or 5 times now. It’s easy to make and so delicious! I feel like a chef. I’m so not! Lol

  83. This Florentine Fish is exactly as described! It is delicious and is a dish that presents itself as a very fancy dish! Very easy to prepare! The only problem is that…. Ican not just eat a single portion. I have to eat until it’s all gone!!

  84. Instead of cream and plain cream cheese I tried it with ricotta and Philly salmon flavored cream cheese — a distinctly different taste than the swai I used.

It was so good I regretted not having any pasta.

  85. I’m making this tonight so I would appreciate a fast response 😬 I couldn’t find less fat cream cheese, would normal cream cheese be fine? If so, how much?

  86. Made this last night and WOW…discovered our cream cheese was quite old so used goat cheese as a sub and so glad I did. Provided a nice slightly sharper taste and it was fantastic..the fish was Mahi. Looking forward to making this again.

    Thank you!

  87. I made this last night, it was delicious. My husband does not like red peppers, so deleted those. I asked on Facebook and people suggested orzo, I have the whole wheat orzo and it was perfect.

    1. I love this recipe! Didn’t have fresh red peppers. So I used fresh diced tomatoes & homemade roasted peppers! IMPROVISE!

    1. Too bland and creamy missed deeper flavours. More herbs spices maybe? Not for us I’m afraid, good for a kids menu though.

  88. Easy and really delicious will definitely make again I only used 9 oz of spinach for 2 servings could have added another 9.next time!

  89. This was so good. I made it with shrimp. I realized at the last minute that I did not have cream cheese, so I substituted sour cream. It was probably a little more watery than the original recipe, but it was still delicious!

  90. This is my favorite skinnytaste recipe!! It is perfect for a date night dinner at home and feels like I’m indulging without the guilt! I sometimes sub gouda for parmesan and it’s delicious!!

  91. One of our very favorite meals ever! As I was gathering my ingredients last night, I realized that we had no half & half or any other milk products in the house…Ugh. So, I added more cream cheese and a 1/4 cup of chicken stock and it turned out just as delicious. I also had a bit of leftover bacon that I threw in at the end.
We prefer salmon with this recipe. I like to cook the salmon first and set aside. Once the other ingredients are ready, I break up the salmon and put in back in the sauce for a minute or two. So, so good!

  92. My daughter-in-law made this for us, and it was absolutely delicious! The flavors were perfect together. I will be making this myself!!!!

  93. Delicious! I made this with salmon. Super easy and quick recipe with restaurant quality results. Will make again and again!

  94. This recipe is one of my favorites! I have made this with fish, shrimp and scallops. It is amazing with all!

OMG!! So good! I was so disappointed it made 4 servings, was hoping for 2. But a little restraint is good for the belly and waist. So easy to make. Looking forward to the leftovers!

  96. Delish! Hubs is on keto and I am not and this was satisfying for both of us. Winner winner fish dinner! Followed the recipe as written and used halibut. Wouldn’t change a thing. Looks and tastes
    like a million bucks!

  97. Hi, I’m having a craving for fish and spinach and this popular recipe came up. Can it be made with frozen spinach?

  98. I am making this dish for my daughter in law and bringing it to her house. Can I make this ahead of time? Also what is a good side dish?

  99. Absolutely delicious!
Had no half and half so used low fat crème fraiche. Didn’t have very much spinach so added some cooked broccoli. Served with rice …..
    Hubby as very impressed!

  100. I made this for our Easter meal, using salmon. It was delicious and very easy to make. I will make this for other special meals, including guests.

  101. Easy to make and clean up. Making for Easter dinner since its only me and my hubby. Such a great treat as I am making blueberry dump in the crockpot from the 2nd cookbook “Fast and Slow”. Gives you a restaurant feel when dining on these recipes.

  102. I feel like a gourmet chef when I cook this, my family fights over the last piece. I don’t adjust anything it’s a perfect recipe. Definitely use a firm fish for best results.

  103. I love this recipe. I am not a big fan of fish, but I used this with Mahi mahi and it is absolutely delicious. I have also used the recipe with chicken breast which is also amazing.

  104. The heading for this recipe says it’s “the BEST” fish recipe, and I completely agree! It’s easy to make and so delicious. I used mahi mahi this time (it was on sale), and it was wonderful. Thank you so much for this one…I’ll be making it often.

  105. Delicious! I air fry the fish:) using skinnytaste blackened fish recipe. I use my air fryer for all fish now pretty much, other than that, I follow this exactly and we love it.

  106. I’ve made this recipe twice and my fish fillets stick to the pan. The first time I used an All Clad stainless pan and added more olive oil and butter for the fillets (I used thick cod). The second time I use a non stick All Clad skillet and the fish fillets still stuck. 🙁

    1. Hi Cory. I think your pan may have been too hot. Don’t give up and try again. This recipe is too good.

Wow!!! This was delicious! I even used Skim milk instead of 1/2 and 1/2 and it was great. Alamo added a few green onions to the spinach mixture – which was an added flavor! I did use Old Bay seasoning in the skillet with butter and oil – this was a great way to add flavor without too much added salt. Husband states better than any restaurant meal. Served with white rice.

  108. Quick and easy. Taste like a fancy restaurant. We often make this quick dish on grocery shopping day so fish on freshest.

  109. Amazing! Followed the recipe, except I diced up some cherry tomatoes with the red pepper. Very easy, and delicious! It’s a keeper!

  110. Finally made this after debating it for some time. I’m not a huge fan of bell pepper but it turns out I’ve been eating bell peppers in the wrong dishes. This was super easy to make, had a small list of ingredients (most we already had on hand) and was absolutely delicious! Thank you Gina!

  111. It was good, I used haddock and I think I would use a little less cream cheese next time. It wasn’t as creamy as shown in the picture. For a first attempt it wasn’t bad. Thanks for this recipe.

Excellent recipe, I have to play around with the ingredients since we don’t have half & half but easy to thin down double cream, might add baby tomatoes next time .

  113. This is really, really good exactly as written. My personal preference is to have a little more acid or bite, so I often add some onion, cherry tomatoes, and sometimes a dollop of Greek yogurt. Superb!

  114. Definitely a keeper recipe. I used cod and it was fantastic!  Served it with steamed broccoli and a sweet potato. I think my husband might have licked his plate it was so clean 🙂

  115. This probably my favorite recipe from Gina, I have only made it with salmon and its omg it delicious so good everytime!!

Ihave made this recipe many many times! I have used both cod and halibut fillets. Both are delicious but the halibut was unbelievably amazing. This is really a special occasion dish but is easy to prepare and ready in 20 minutes!

  120. Delicious!!! Except for substituting chicken breasts for fish, I made the recipe exactly as written. Dinner was fast, easy and Oh So Good. Even my 2 yr old grandson gobbled down the Florentine. I served it with mashed potatoes.

  121. My husband and I LOVE this recipe, but I hate that it dirties two pans, so we don’t have it very often. i have tried making it by cooking the fish first and then setting the fish in the toaster oven at 200 degrees to keep it warm while I make the rest of the recipe. That works, if I don’t cook the fish completely first time around. Takes a little fiddling but it is doable.

  122. This was easy and delicious! I used cod and just got frustrated because my fish kinda fell apart :-(. Any suggestions for that?? But still tasted delicious no matter how it looked! lol Made some small red bliss roasted potatoes as a side with this and it was perfect. Thanks for the recipe that is now Pinned! 🙂

    1. I’ve used plain non-dairy yogurt in this recipe as a swap for cream cheese and it came out great.

  123. Has or would anyone use fresh walleye for this? We have a bunch of Walleye on hand and I just wasn’t sure if it would be a firm enough fish for this recipe?

I saw someone mentioned scallops and that will definitely happen sometime soon! Thanks for that suggestion.

I am in the UK. Can you tell me what half and half cream is please? I notice you use it alot in your recipes. Many thanks

    1. It is a product that is half milk, half cream. It may be called half cream in the UK? If not you can google how to make your own. 🙂

I have recently travelled to canada and looked for half and half. I beleive it was called 32percent fat . Im not sure if it is marketed the same in england.

    2. Hi Halina, the half and half in Britain is single cream. I had to Google it as well ha ha. I am going to make it tomorrow with salmon and noodles.

  125. I made this with chicken and was hoping it would be similar to the “popeye pollo” served at a local resturaunt chain in Pittsburgh. It’s excellent! I’m not a fan of bell peppers but they do make it look pretty – I threw in a few spoonfuls of canned chopped tomatoes instead. Will definitely make again!

  126. I made this last night for dinner.  My husband and I both loved it.  He said it tasted like an expensive restaurant meal.  I loved that it was quick and easy.  I will definitely be making this again.

  127. A winner! Easy, only a few ingredients, minimal chopping, and had it on the table in under 30 minutes. Husband and daughter both really enjoyed it and thanked me multiple times. I used black cod and kept the skin on. I cooked it flesh side down for the first 6 minutes and then skin side down for the remainder of the time. It was perfect! I also plan to make the spinach as an easy side for other meals. Thank you, Gina!

We absolutely loved this dish!  Used halibut and it was terrific ❤️ Made exactly as written. My husband wanted it 2 times in one week.

  129. I made this tonight with the lightly smoked salmon from aldi, and the smoke flavor played in so perfectly! It was a nice substitution for anyone looking for something easy and accessible. Great recipe, Gina!

  130. I absolutely love this recipe! I use unsweetened almond milk in place of cream and it comes out awesome every time! I also push the spinach/ pepper mixture to the side, add olive oil, and cook the fish (always use cod loins) right in the same pan. Fantastic every time!! ♥️♥️♥️

  131. Oh my goodness…..this is for sure restaurant quality.  A beautiful dish and it was delish!  It’s going into the “keeper” file and I can’t wait to make this for guests.  I added diced onions to the peppers and I seasoned the fish with Trader Joe’s Lemon Pepper seasoning.  For both I sautéed in Orange Rosemary Olive Oil.  Serve over rice.  Thank you for this wonderful recipe.  I will be checking your website for more delicious and healthy recipes!

I hate when people change recipes and then rate them, but I had different things on hand, and tried them and it worked great, so I am sharing. I doubled everything, used a small tub of Allouette instead of cream cheese. I added half a bag of whole small carrots, one chopped tomato and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for additional flavor. I even threw in 4 small potatoes sliced thin just to use them up before they spoiled. My husband raved about it. I would give it 6 stars if I could. I was so happy I found this recipe!

  133. Has anyone made this with scallops? Small or large? How long do you cook them before adding to spinach mixture?

YES. We made with this recipe with scallops, We used large scallops and pan seared separately until opaque and then added them to the top of the mixture. Was amazing.

Made it for dinner last night and my husband and I loved it! It came together in about 30 minutes, which is a huge benefit, and the taste is out of this world! Will definitely be making this again soon!

  135. This is my favorite recipe to make fish! It is hands down the best recipe! I haven’t had it in a while so I am making it for dinner tonight. Can’t wait.

  136. This sounds so good that I’m going to try it with frozen spinach! I’m snowed in so going to the grocery store isn’t an option this week. I have all the ingredients except fresh spinach so I’m going to take a chance that it will work if I thaw and drain it before adding it to the pan.

    1. How did this recipe work out with frozen spinach? Wanting to make this week but also only have frozen spinach on hand.

      1. I made it with frozen rapini no it was great

I boiled and blanched it first though and didn’t need to wilt it in pan – just added it

  137. This really is the BEST florentine fish recipe. We’ve been using it for a couple of years now & is most definitely our go to because it’s delicious and not as fattening as a regular florentine cream style dish. LOVELY. Thank you!

Love love love this recipe!! Absolutely a restaurant quality dish. You’re amazing Gina and should have your own Food Network show!

  139. This was the most amazing delicious recipe that I’ve ever made! I’ve shared a photo of my supper and your recipe with friends as it’s to good not to share!!

My daughter fixed this for she and I one evening with tilapia. It was absolutely delicious. The “Florentine” is out of this world. My question is…..with a 4 oz chicken breast, what would the calorie count be?

  141. Loved this recipe! The TOTAL amount of creamed spinach for the whole recipe when I cooked it looked like the same amount shown per serving in the video and images though. Next time I would add more peppers and spinach so there was more volume for 4 people.

  142. This was delicious! I ended up using roasted red peppers, because I didn’t have any fresh, it came out so good I plan on using the roasted peppers again. So quick and easy to make, plus visually pleasing, it looked like a restaurant dish. Plan on making this a staple as part of my carb cycling! Thanks for the recipe.

  143. This is the best fish recipe! I usually use cod, just a family preference. My kiddos used to ask for this recipe and now they are old enough to make it on their own.

Thank you for everything amazing, including spending time with my kids in the kitchen. It’s such a big deal to enjoy time together and I appreciate you making that happen.

Delicious – just added about 1/2 cup white wine to deglaze the pan, sautéed blanched almonds and grapes because we had them!

  145. This tasted fabulous and the family loved it. I did take others’ suggestions and used Laughing Cow Light cheese instead of cream cheese. I used mahi-mahi fish. Served with a side of palmini rice. Perfect low carb meal.

  146. Looks great with great reviews. Will make on Friday. What side would be good with this? Doesn’t seem to need a salad or veggie due to the spinach and red peppers. Maybe just a crusty roll to dip in sauce? or a fruit salad/dish?

    Thanks for ideas…..

  147. Made this recipe and loved it. It is as good as any meal from a restaurant. Will use a little less cream cheese and maybe add a little chicken broth.

  148. I have made this at least a dozen times!! Looks and tastes fancy but so very easy. I’ve used many different kinds of fish, including salmon, and it’s just delicious and impressive!

  149. This was really delicious and easy to make. I do agree with some of the reviewers who said that it was a bit heavy. I could have added half the cream cheese, I think. Its a very rich dish with lots of flavors. Heavier than we normally make, but delicious for a meal once in awhile.

This was the best! I also substituted roasted cherry tomatoes for the red pepper, added some chicken broth to thin and served with basmati rice, and seared the fish on a flat top. So delicious. Thank you for this recipe, its a keeper.

I love this dinner! It was so simple and great for a weeknight meal. I used Mahi Mahi for the fish and served with a baked sweet potato. Will definitely make again!

  152. Such a gorgeous recipe, it is definitely becoming a regular in our house! Very classy, yet so easy to make! Thank you very much, Gina!

  153. This is one of the best recipes I’ve ever tried.  Restaurant quality.  I used haddock because that is what I had, and I would definitely suggest a firmer white fish.  It was still delicious though!  Next time I might try subbing chicken broth for the cream and see what happens.  This was so delicious as written though.

  154. IMG_3584.jpg.
I’ve made this recipe several times, always with fish. Tonight I did it a little different. First I swapped out the red bell peppers for roasted cherry tomatoes. (Toss tomatoes in olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Place on cooking sheet. Roast at 400 degrees for 20 minutes) Made the “Florentine “ part of the recipe then added the roasted tomatoes.  My husband had his usual piece of Cod, I had sautéed Scallops 😋😋. Delicious!

  155. I’ve made a different skinnytaste recipe every day for the last two weeks. I have yet to find a bad one, and this was no exception! So delicious, and I am not really even a big seafood lover. I used haddock fillets and it was perfect. I didn’t change a thing!

  156. I made this using fresh cod…mine didn’t look as pretty as the one in the picture, but it tasted delicious. I am definitely putting this recipe in my rotation. Thank you Gina!

  157. I couldn’t find skinless filets but used red snapper instead and was very tasty. My whole family loved this and such a great alternative for weeknight fish dishes!

  158. Freakin phenomenal 🤤🤤🤤 I thought I’d like this, but good lord, the creamy richness of the spinach mix was so damn good. Even my hubs loved it and wants it!

  159. This recipe was fabulous. My husband and I just retired to Rockport, TX and have been doing a lot of fishing. Looking for healthy fish dinner options. We cooked this together and it was so quick and easy. Will definitely fix this often. We used fresh Red Drum & Black Drum. Highly recommend.

  160. This was absolutely fantastic! I swapped 2% instead of half &half..but used more to compensate for thickness

  161. This was a big hit! However now that I’ve made it i would make a few adjustments. If you use the two garlic cloves, use two small cloves or 1 large. Also I would bake the fish in the oven instead of pan frying. But what a delicious dish!

  162. I used mahi mahi which was so good! I added Sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms. I forgot the Parmesan cheese 🤦🏻‍♀️ but it was still delicious.

  163. I made this last night for dinner, it was fabulous!  I used a wok to cook the spinach in and an iron skillet for the chilean sea bass served with shrimp pasta and we had seafood chowder.

  164. We have a fish shipment sent to us every other month, so I’m trying new recipes out.  This is a keeper.  We really enjoyed it- we used Rockfish from Alaska and it worked well.   This will be on repeat for sure!

  165. This was so good – new favorite of my husband!  I’m not a fan of red peppers but these cook down and melt into the sauce so I would not cut out.  Even with 1/2 the fish I still used a full pepper and 2 garlic- excellent!

  166. This was so good – new favorite of my husband!  I’m not a fan of red peppers but these cook down and melt into the sauce so I would not cut out.  Even with 1/2 the fish I still used a full pepper and 2 garlic- excellent!

  167. Made this for dinner tonight, it was Outstanding! Everyone raved about it!
I used fresh halibut, will try it with cod as well. I don’t usually alter recipes when I try them however I’m not a huge red peppers fan, so I used only a 1/2 cup and used jarred roasted red peppers. Also a can of diced tomatoes ( lightly rinsed and drained) to make up for the less peppers.
Will be putting this in my meal rotation!

  168. Made this recipe as is and it was wonderful! I used Mahi because it’s such a wonderful non-fishy fish, with a great hearty texture. The spinach and red pepper Florentine was so tasty, even using the low fat Ingredients. Careful with the salt! I tend to be a little heavy-handed.

I’m making this tonight and because I do not like spinach i am gonna try zucchini noodles.  We’ll see how it goes!

    1. I used 2% milk instead of half & half. Just more of it. Any cream cheese works. I had low-fat cream cheese. Turned out fabulous

  169. Another wonderful recipe from Skinnytaste! So easy and so decadent! My husband raved (he’s a food snob) on and on. We will be having this dish often.

  170. I cannot wait to make this! Could you replace the spinach with a different type of green? If so, what do you recommend? Thank you!

  171. Awesome! My favorite way to eat both fish and spinach! Didn’t have 1/2 & 1/2, so substituted Greek yogurt instead.

  172. This may be a super stupid question, but do you serve it over anything like cauliflower or brown rice?   Thank you!

  173. This recipe was a hit! Not once did I have to ask either child to eat their fish and let’s just say there were no left overs. High Five Stars!

  174. My husband and I have made an effort to be more healthy this year we have made at least a dozen Skinnytaste recipes in 2021.  We have been impressed with all of them !  We made this recipe for the first time tonight and it was our favorite!  So flavorful and very quick and easy to make!

I have two of your wonderful cookbooks but this recipe is not in either of them. Would you consider letting us know which cookbook your online recipes are included in? This way I know which book to buy next. 🙂

    1. Hi Tammy! You can click on the cookbook tab to find an index but many recipes on the site are not in the books.

    1. I used wild cod (around 1.25″ thick) tonight and it worked perfectly! 6 minutes on the first side, 5 minutes on the other… just as written. Enjoy! 🙂

  176. This is a fabulous addition to our dinner rotation…totally company-worthy. I bought halibut from Whole Foods and it was totally worth the splurge. As some other reviewers mentioned, I added halved grape tomatoes to the sauce (because I needed to use them up) and sprinkled some Old Bay on the fish in addition to S/P. I only had regular Philly Cream Cheese but I did use Fat Free Half & Half. So delicious! My BF went back for seconds (and he rarely eats fish). He just kept raving about how amazing it was! Thanks Gina! 113.6 lbs down since 6/01/2020 using SkinnyTaste recipes in conjunction with a good cardio program.

  177. This is delicious! Because there are only 2 of us, I use the leftover spinach mixture in omelettes the next day. So good!

This recipe was AMAZING! So hard to believe it is considered light. I would make the spinach as just a side dish.

Absolutely delicious and easy! Made it two days ago for supper and my husband asked for it again tonight. I didn’t have any cream cheese so subbed left over queso.

  181. Why did I wait so long to make this?  I made with Mahi, because that is what I had. Outstanding and easy. My husband made me take a picture, it was beautiful. Thank you!

  182. Yes I made this recipe and it’s a keeper!  I traded the fish for shrimp and scallops and didn’t have half and half so I used milk instead.

It is a quick meal and as stated tastes like fine dining, so a win-win for those who are questioning this dish!  Everything was delicious with just my two changes.

I made this last night for my family!  We all loved it!  It is a must do again!  The only
thing I would do different is make more of the spinach mixture.  It was so good but more of the spinach would have been better.
Thank you for this wonderful dish!

  186. Made this for dinner last night with 2 pieces of cod. Was sensational! Will add this one to the rotation. Thanks for a keeper!!

  187. Easy to make and delicious! I added a quarter of chopped onion when cooking the peppers for a bite. Will definitely keep this recipe.

  188. This was yummy comfort food.   When I make it again I may switch out the chopped fresh red pepper for jarred roasted red peppers as it would save a bit of time and I would like to see how the roasted peppers would taste with this recipe.  Also, I made this using fresh spinach and I wished I had drained the pan after cooking the spinach because it added more water to the sauce than I would have liked.  So next time I will drain before adding the cheeses and maybe even skip or reduce the amount of half and half to keep the sauce a bit thicker.

  189. This is the absolute BEST fish florentine recipe! It’s delicious, low calorie, and easy to make! LOVE IT!! It’s also good with shrimp.

  190. This is so tasty and definitely a keeper. Served with russet baked potatoes.. My 9 years old daughter commented the meal looks so chic and restaurant like which was agreed with the rest of our family. Thank you so much for sharing this great recipe.

  191. This is literally one of the best dinners I have ever made – so tasty – so easy – and perfect for those following Weight Watchers. It’s a main staple on our dinner rotation!

This was simply delicious! The most amazing fish I’ve made at home and it got rave reviews by my family. Restaurant quality for sure! I will definitely make again! Thank you for your amazing recipes!!

    1. First of three low carb skinnytaste recipes I’ve made this week.  I’m so thankful for Gina — her recipes are keeping me on track with low carb and I don’t feel deprived at all. Used cod because it’s what I had in freezer, and it worked nicely. The cream cheese is the real flavor star sautéed with the spinach. Adding this one to the weeknight dinner rotation too.

This recipe is sooo simple and divine! I couldn’t find any of the recommended white fish at the grocery, so I just used tilapia and it’s delicious. I’ve made it twice with no substitutions and love it. My husband requested it on our weekly rotation, so you know it’s good when they remember the meal and request it! Thank you!!

  194. I’ve made this twice now and while I liked the flavor, I thought the sauce was way too heavy so I omitted the cream cheese the second time around and added a little more half and half. I also like food a bit more spicy so I added a little red pepper as well. I thought it was much better the second time. Used Mahi Mahi both times.

  195. Absolutely loved this one! So pretty and delicious. I also added mushrooms to the bell pepper and garlic and pretty much doubled the amount of spinach.

  196. This is so delicious! I used mahi-mahi, and the creamy bed of spinach is addictive and wonderful served over jasmine rice. This is  a keeper!

First time with the recipe. It was great. I change the red peppers for tomatoes and worked well. Easy and tasty,

  199. Made this dairy free by using DF cream cheese and subbed canned coconut milk in place of the half and half – it came out AMAZING! Also just used a little shredded cashew cheddar cheese in place of the Parmesan. It’s definitely been a repeat in our house!! My husband who’s not DF also loves it!

    1. Thanks so much!!! My husband is dairy free and I’m making this for his birthday this week. Have loved this recipe and am grateful for your suggestions!

I love this recipe and so does my husband! I could just eat the spinach, its so creamy and  satisfying. Last night I used fresh salmon filets and it was perfect. It’s a great dish for company and so easy. Plan on trying  chicken breasts next time.
Thanks for creating a healthy and delicious way of cooking!

  201. This is the first Skinnytaste recipe I have tried! It was so good! I used salmon and opted for the low fat half and half. I had steamed broccoli as my side.

  202. I love this recipe so much, it’s become a staple in my recipes ever since it was published. I bake the fish with lemon and olive oil and put everything on top of baked spaghetti squash. It tastes so delicious and very filling!

  203. Just made this. I have no idea why I waited so long to try this. It was soooooo good. This will 100% be on the regular rotation.

This meal was so easy to make and so flavorful! Will definitely make this again!! Even the kids loved it!!

  205. Well, that’s a five star recipe! And very filling and satisfying.

I’d be happy to pay a hefty price for that at our favorite restaurant.

  206. Love love loved it!  I had something similar at a restaurant and have been craving it lately and when I saw this recipe I did the happy dance!  It was better than the restaurant version!!! Thank you!!!!!

  207. This recipe is amazing!  I added a can of white kidney beans as another reviewer suggested, and my husband couldn’t stop raving about it.  Thank you Gina!

  208. One of the best fish recipes I’ve ever made! We used individually frozen mahi mahi filets from Costco for this recipe, highly recommend! The taste and presentation make you feel like you’re at a high end seafood restaurant. Another skinny taste win!

  209. Really glad to see a nice fish recipe that doesn’t coat the fish in flour. All that flour turns to sugar in the body.

    This looks nice and light.

  210. This was absolutely outstanding.  We already can’t wait to make it for our family, even if it means dropping it off during social distancing.    I used halibut, and following your instructions entirely made for an easy but exceptional dish.   This will be made often in this home.  Thank you for another incredible meal and for helping us live a much healthier lifestyle thanks to your meal plans.

  211. After reading all the comments on Facebook, I really want to make this receipe too! But can somebody let me know how I can substitute half & half cream? Not sure what it is and we don’t have it called like this in store (living in the Netherlands). Thank you!

    1. You can sub a mixture of milk and cream. I would Google it since I am not sure what is available in your area. I hope it works!

    2. In our area, it’s just called half and half. Cream is not on the label. That’s what might be confusing you.

      1. We were lucky, as our local market had super fresh grouper. This was the most fantastic fish recipe I’ve ever eaten…BY FAR!!!

  212. Wow! This really is the best fish recipe. I cooked this for my parents this week and it was the most delicious fish we’ve ever had. It tasted right from a restaurant. I’m making it again for myself this week, it will definitely be in my rotation now. So yummy!

  213. Made this for the first time last night using Chilean Sea Bass. I’m not one to usually be blown away by most base recipes, but this was fantastic. Easily my favorite Skinnytaste recipe, and I own all the cookbooks. Can’t wait to make this again.

Will be trying this soon with a dairy free cream cheese and dairy free half and half just looks too good to not try! Keep you updated!!

  215. I love spinach but others in the family do not this still was a big hit. Restaurant quality was the comment from the family. It is an easy recipe to follow – I used trout which worked well.

  216. I’ve followed the recipe closely but using cooking cream pro (president brand) Instead as I cannot find half-half where I live. However my spinach came out really watery and never thickened, not sure what I did wrong. So we had a tasty creamy spinach soup with fish instead 😂

  217. We make this over and over! We have used a variety of white fish–spanish mackerel, cobra, mahi, etc–and it’s ALWAYS delicious. SO SO good. If you’re feeling decadent, a little more cream cheese goes a long way 😉

  218. Holy moly this was good! I used some great barramundi we got from the frozen case at Costco, and did make more of a spice blend for the fish…but otherwise followed the recipe. Has to be one of the best from skinny taste – and that is a high bar! I probably would use a little more spinach or in general make more sauce as it was so good and I made extra fish…but as usual her recipes and portions are spot on. We had a mixed green salad with this with a homemade vinaigrette and are quite full, guilt free!

  219. Making this tonight for the second time. Husband and 4 kids said we should have it at least once a week. Only difference is we grilled halibut we bought at Costco and then added the sauce on top. So easy, beautiful and absolutely delicious!

  220. Is this recipe or a variation in any of the four Skinnytaste cookbooks? I have them all and prefer using cookbooks in the kitchen rather than technology. I have noticed many online recipes are either also in the cookbooks or a variation of the recipe is. I quickly scanned the indices but nothing jumped out. I know it’s silly but I guess I’m just old school that way. I am literally obsessed with all ST recipes. Thanks!

    1. Have you ever tried saving them in an easy accessible app? I now save any online recipes that I like on the App Paprika.  I access it on my IPad and it is very easy to use and organize.  I also sometimes find recipes I like from my books online and also save them on the app.  Just a thought.

  221. Really good! I did add some Italian seasoning and fennel seed to the fish, but so tasty. Added some garlic bread and it was a terrific meal, yum!

  222. Can’t get cream cheese at grocery store.  What would you recommend for a substitution?  Thank you. Love this recipe and want to make it again this week.

Restaurant-worthy!  Absolutely delicious.  I didn’t have fresh peppers on hand (and COVID-19 prevents those quick run to the stores) so I used 1 cup diced roasted red pepper.  I also substituted salmon (same thing, it’s what I had in the freezer to use).  My husband licked his plate clean, proceeded to polish off the leftover spinach, and then looked around like a lost puppy when he realized it was all gone 😊.  This is on regular rotation!

I tried this recipe for the first time tonight. It was delicious!! It was very easy and fast to put together after a long day at work. Will definitely make this again.

  225. My family loves this meal. Would like to serve it tonight, but must make adjustments in an effort to shop from my pantry. I’ll be using a bag of frozen shrimp instead of the cod. Also was thinking of adding a can of rinsed cannellini beans to stretch this for the college kids who are eating me out of house and home. Does anyone think that sounds weird? Adding beans?

  226. Amazing et délicieux!
Officially on the classics list fron now on.
    Love love love it
    Bon appétit

  227. I’d like to make in salmon, cut the recipe in half (cooking for two and limiting ingredients to conserve) and only have 2% milk instead of half and half—thoughts?

  228. Wonderful. No need to modify anything. I had some organic cherry tomatoes that needed to be used, so I sliced them in half and added to the sauce. Everyone loved it. This one is going into my rotation!!

I made this sauce to go with grilled chicken. I did add asparagus and used full fat cream cheese because that is what I had. It was absolutely delicious.

  230. This seriously is “THE BEST FISH RECIPE”!!! We make this all the time and I use cod. I serve it with rice pilaf, total win in our house!!

  231. I made this with cod and it was absolutely delicious! It was very easy on the budget, too! My husband even loved the spinach! Win, win, and win!

  232. DELICIOUS! First time i made this recipe to a tee, second time i tweeked just a little, used yellow pepper instead as i didn’t have a red, i added yellow onion as well. To the cream i added white wine i used chardonnay and lemon juice, i also added capers! This dish was a hit with my husband who is a very picky fish eater!

  233. This was amazing! I used barramundi that I got at whole foods. I also used shredded parm and not grated. I’ve been doing some pretty heavy workouts so I need some carbs. I served this over a little bit of pasta. My husband said it reminded him of a healthier alfredo. Oh, and I also added some cherry tomatoes that I needed to use because I went a little crazy at Costco.

  234. 5 stars from me. This was so good! I used a beautiful fresh halibut. I think the only thing I may have changed was to dust one side with a fresh and fragrant curry powder along with the salt and pepper. I love curry and it was very complimentary here to what was already in the dish.

  235. Wow! This is so delicious and definitely going in our rotation of main dishes. As I am only cooking for two, I made 3 pieces of fish. One extra for lunch this week and then baking an egg in the extra spinach mixture for a yummy breakfast.

    1. It might be a bit late for this reply, but in case it’s not or anyone else is wondering about this: I make this with diced tomatoes instead of peppers all the time. I just drain a 14.5 ounce can of diced tomatoes and add those in place of the peppers. It is delicious!

Made it tonight and it was a bit hit. Everyone loved it including the pick eaters. Only two minor changes was using a yellow bell pepper instead of red because I had one on hand and the second one was I did my pollock fillets via sous vide and a torch thereafter, because I like the results from experience. I followed the recipe on everything else and it was very well balanced. Its going into the regular stack.

  237. OMG, SO SO delicious! I used tilapia cuz that’s what I had.
Didn’t have any half & half so used 2T ff greek yogurt and 2T water. Worked just fine. Seriously, you must make this!

  238. WOW! This was amazing! I used the frozen Hoki fish portions from Costco, and added some cherry tomatoes. There were no leftovers! This recipe will now be in my regular rotation.
    Thank You

Oh my goodness, this was AMAZING!! We are not a fish loving family, but this was so delicious that everyone wants to eat it on a regular basis. I did double the spinach mixture and the family ate every single drop of it! Gina, your recipes are incredible and we have loved everyone that we have tried! Thank you!!

Amazing! Simple to make but the tastes are so complex! Delicious! Served over white rice.  Everyone loved it!

  242. Made this today and it was a big hit. Instead of putting the fish on top of the spinach I did it the opposite and topped the fish with the spinach because it seemed like a lot and I didn’t want it to go to waste once I topped it with the fish. There was still some leftover spinach so I plan to have it as a side dish tomorrow with dinner. Even my 12 year old son loved it.

So simple and delicious! I put almond milk in and my fiance (who doesn’t like lower calorie food as a rule) loved it! He had me make it again with chicken . Thank you for your recipe!!

  244. Love this recipe.  So easy and so tasty.  I bury the fish in the sauce to cook it like I do with your Mediterranean Sea Bass recipe.  Everyone is impressed!

  245. Finally made this for dinner tonight, it was delicious and so easy and quick to make. Will definitely be making this again soon!

  246. I made this tonight but with scallops instead of fish. It was amazing!  I can’t wait to make this for family and friends. So delicious. A perfect balance. Not too rich and perfect with seafood or fish and a squeeze of lemon! Bravo!

  247. Such a decadent flavorful sauce that could be used on so many things. Made as written, then again with shrimp. Definitely a regular rotation. This meal is wonderful!

  248. I have been eying this recipe for a long time and finally made it for dinner. Delicious! So fancy looking and easy!

  249. This really is a restaurant quality meal…from a very good restaurant! Not only was it delicious but it came together so quickly, less that 30 minutes dinner was on the table. I almost felt like I should have served it on my fine China! Thanks for another 5 star, gluten free, healthy meal.

  250. This recipe was rated, “This is a DEFINITE keeper” by my family. Can’t beat that.
p.s. full disclosure – I did sub mushrooms for red peppers

I’m trying to link my Alexa to skinny taste. I love your recipes they are delicious and nutritious and I do weight watchers so the points are a bonus to. It would be great if the recipes could be displayed on my Alexa. I currently spent 2 hours with amazon support trying to figure out a way to get it to work but no luck. Please help !!!

    1. Made this tonight with Mahi and it was amazing. Typically I wouldn’t have picked a recipe like this bit it was on your meal plan so I gave it a shot! Delicious!

    2. I’ve been trying to figure this out as well! I’d love to see it on my Alexa instead of my phone!

This was so delicious!!!  I subbed tomato for red pepper and used salmon – better than restaurant!!

  253. Excellent recipe, made it with Halibut!  My hubby who doesn’t like fish really enjoyed this recipe.

    1. I just made it with 2 Mahi filets tonight. Turned out well. They were roughly 5oz each (had been frozen and thawed) and they adhered to her suggested cook time. We ended up splitting the spinach into 2 servings instead of 4.

  254. This recipe looks delicious but I really dislike bell peppers.  Can I substitute cherry tomatoes or sun-dried tomatoes?

  255. Amazing!! So delicious! My hubby had his doubts when I pulled out the cream cheese but was convinced when he took a bite! We served this over orzo with roasted rainbow carrots. I threw the fish on the baking tray with the carrots vs pan frying. Rubbed the fish with a tiny bit of butter and oil, and salt and pepper.  The sauce cooked first so to reheat it when the fish was done I added a splash of whole milk and chopped cherry tomatoes. Topped it all with parsley before serving. Definitely a keeper!

  256. I made this but I substituted mushrooms for the red pepper because I don’t like red pepper. I also threw in a dash of Cajun seasoning. I backed the fish because that is how I am accustomed to cooking it and I wanted to do the sauce at the last minute before serving. I loved every mouthful and felt very proud.

  257. Made this tonight for my husband and I – it was delicious!  I successfully halved it and used cod because that was what I could find.  Creamed spinach is rich and creamy.  Definite make this again.

This looks really good and I wanted to use it for weight watchers, but only 1/2 cup of spinach is not going to be filling. I am only giving it a three because it doesn’t seem skinny enough.

      1. I added more spinach then it called for because we love it and it was still creamy and more than enough to fill you up. I used swai fillet because it a pretty big piece of fish. I paired this with her bang bang shrimp recipe as an appetizer and we were all super full. You’re missing out, this recipe is great and definitely worth all 5 stars.

  259. We have yet to try a bad SkinnyTaste recipe but oh my sweet Jesus…this was by far our favorite.  Like, “thank God we made this at home so no one sees us lick our plates” good!  Thank you and keep up the great work!

  260. This was a super simple and easy to throw together and was full of flavor! I even threw some pasta in with the spinach to soak up the extra liquid. Will definitely be making this again!

  261. This turned out amazing! I added fire roasted tomatoes instead of red peppers as another reviewer suggested. I also marinated the fish in white wine and a little garlic before cooking. Will definitely make this again.

This was tasty but I thought the sauce was WAY too rich and thick. I’m going to make it again but I’m leaving out the cream cheese and just going to add a little more parmesan cheese.

    1. Tomatoes or mushrooms or asparagus or artichoke hearts. This recipe is very flexible and forgiving. Use what YOU like. 🙂

  263. This was so good! Didn’t have peppers so I used some drained, fire roasted diced tomatoes and it was decadent. Made this with halibut. My husband’s comment was that this was the kind of fish you’d return to a restaurant for!

  264. This is literally one of the best recipes I have found lately. I have made it 3x already. We used snapper that we caught out of Freeport, TX. And it is super easy!

  265. Absolutely excellent! Did not have spinach nor half and half…..
Used broccoli and sour cream with milk!

  266. This was really good and very easy to make! Win win in my book! My husband and 2 year old also approved which was surprising. Definitely going to make again!

  267. This is a very tasty recipe however there are a couple of things that need addressing. The amount of the creamed spinach is not nearly enough for 4 servings of fish. And the recipe picture shows far more of the creamed spinach than the recommended 1/2 cup stated in the per serving nutrition information.

  268. I loved this dish. The creamy spinach was delicious and really rich-tasting. You would never know this is a light recipe (and I mean that in the best way).

  269. Yum Yum Yum! Used cod loins and was generous with the ingredients for the sauce. Added “skinny” asparagus and used creole seasoning instead of salt for a bit of a kick. We had leftover sauce and it was SO good the next day to mix in with scrambled eggs!

This is THE best fish recipe I’ve ever made, and being Italian I am feeling like a wimp for never knowing about Florentine! So incredible and I made it to a tee. Used mahi mahi and it was just incredible with mashed garlic potatoes on the side. Felt like the family and I were out to eat ag home! Thank you for this great recipe.

  271. This was so good!!!  I did not have any 1/2 and 1/2 so I used greek yogurt.  This is definitely a make again.

    1. Marilyn, I’m trying to find a way to reduce the fat in this recipe. Do you feel like the Greek yogurt was a viable sub? Did you just do 1/4 or did you have to adjust the amount? Thank you!!

      1. I used fat free 1/2&1/2 only because it is what I always have on hand.

This was an incredibly delicious meal!

    2. I wanted to make with FF Greek yogurt too… I don’t have cream cheese or half&half. I guess it might need a bit of liquid, so yogurt+milk? I guess I can experiment!

Hi! It is a lovely dish but unfortunately the fish fell apart in the pan while cooking.  I used cod loins and followed the directions to a “t” but they still fell apart like so many other of my fish dishes.  Otherwise, this dish was delicious.

  274. Made this tonight with swordfish. SO delicious!! Printed this recipe and will definitely be making again and again! Ca

  275. YUM!!! I love this recipe! I used cod and this was SOOOO good! Super easy, and a quick clean-up. Thank you, SkinnyTaste!

  276. Oh my gosh! What a delicious and easy recipe. It looked like I spent a lot more time on it than I did. Will definitely add this to our rotation.

  277. Is this really eating “skinny”? It’s absolutely delicious! Next time, I will add a little Creole seasoning (we like a smidge of heat). I used redfish filets we caught down in Louisiana!

  278. Loved this recipe. My daughter doesn’t really care for fish, but she asked for more!. The cream cheese and parmesan really made it taste cheesy. I will make this again.

  279. This one gets ALL the stars in the sky! I am Keto and this is my new favorite go-to recipe. So quick and DELICIOUS! I made this recipe as is and used frozen wild caught Alaskan cod. This could be served in a nice restaurant as a favorite. My fish stuck a little in the pan. I’m trying to decide how to correct that. Also, Im going to try this with chicken for my anti-seafood husband. I will also make it with scallops and shrimp. Can you tell this is my favorite recipe ever?!

  280. Oh my gosh !!! I can’t say enough of how much we LOVED this recipe.
I did add some addition olive oil while pan searing the fish. I had bought halibut and it was thick. We loved it so much. My new favorite.

  281. Wow- so good! My husband said, “I could eat 4 more servings of that”- so that says it all. We did think the sauce was a bit too rich for us, so next time we’ll swap out chicken broth for the half and half as some others have suggested. Overall though, so tasty!!!

  282. This is a fantastic recipe. A perfect combination of flavours. A restaurant could serve this without any problem. I have doubled the amount of spinach and red pepper. Try sweet red pepper (the long ones) instead of bell pepper. And I used more black pepper.

  283. Excellent!! Our new favorite fish recipe, and so quick and easy. I made it just as the recipe is written and it was perfect!! Thanks again!!

  284. absolutely delicious!!  I made this with halibut and the taste of the Florentine mix was delicate enough
that it didn’t overpower the fish.  I will certainly be making this again!

  285. This was EXCELLENT! I made a few changes just to use what I had on hand. For anyone wondering, it worked fine with frozen spinach. I also used the frozen pepper/onion bag, because I had both on hand. I did throw the spinach in the pan first to thaw/warm, then, drained out the water, and then moved it to a plate before starting the recipe.
I also used sour cream as a sub for cream cheese, and use Mahi filets.
(It sounds like i changed the whole recipe, but i just followed Gina’s guide and made it work for my refrigerator 🙂 ) We LOVED it! I wish I had leftovers for lunch today.

  286. Gina, this was SO delicious.  We were licking the pan!!!  It will definitely be a regular menu item.
ALL of your recipes are fabulous.

  287. I love this dish. I’ve made it several times to rave reviews.  I’m making it tomorrow night for company. Can I premake the spinach mixture, refrigerate it and heat it up before serving?  Is there any way to cook the fish beforehand? I’d like to have the dinner cooked and just put it together when company arrives. I have a warming drawer but I’m afraid of the fish drying out.  Any suggestions?

  288. I have made several of your dishes through the years and have enjoyed them all. I think this recipe is one of my all-time faves. I made this to accompany trout and salmon. This Florentine spinach could easily accompany chicken, fish, shrimp, pasta, in a bowl with a spoon by itself, cardboard box….What I’m trying to say is this is so delicious and I will make it again and again. My boyfriend who is learning to cook made the spinach while I was making the fish and he couldn’t believe how easy it was to make something so delicious.

  289. I tend to wing it a bit with recipes so used 1/2 c. diced tomato & 1/2 c. yellow peppers, and substituted Boursin for the cream cheese. Also, I used Barramundi filets, which were not thick. I did not measure my seasonings and my creamed spinach was a little salty. Regardless, this recipe was delicious!! I will definitely make it again but will make several batches of the creamed spinach because, mmmmm, there just wasn’t enough! 🙂

This was ssooo good! I even had to make some not-great substitution s and didn’t really measure anything, but it was still so great!!

  291. Looking forward to trying this tonight – sounds delicious! I re-joined WW last week – you are definitely my “go-to” for delicious recipes that will keep my in my Points range. Over the last few years I have made many recipes from this web site and from your cookbooks – all were fantastic 🙂

    1. Update: this is amazing! I would give it 10 stars if I could 🙂 I love the versatility of the recipe too – going to try it with either shrimp or chicken next time, even though the cod was fantastic.

  292. Amazing! My husband can’t stop raving about this dish. We eat fish at least once each week so I’m happy to have a new way to prepare fish. This recipe is definitely “a keeper”!

  293. This recipe is absolutely amazingly delicious! I forgot to add the Parmesan cheese But it didn’t matter it was that good.

  294. Gina you never disappoint! I’ve been wanting to try this one for awhile and made it for the first time tonight. It was a huge success! My boyfriend (who isn’t the biggest fan of vegetables) was in love with the spinach and I will definitely double that part of the recipe next time.

I have two of your cookbooks and have yet to try one of your recipes I don’t like. I especially love that so many of your recipes, like this one, can be made quickly but are healthy and are packed full of flavor. THANK YOU!

  295. Hi Gina –
Made the Fish Florentine recipe. Lovely!
Used some of the Florentine in an egg white omelet w/a small hand full of diced cooked potatoes.
    Nice breakfast.
Also, if I may, a dish of my own, that has evolved over the years. 2 servings:
Couple crowns of broccoli cut into smaller florettes, steamed.
1/2 block of plain, firm tofu, water squeezed out as much as possible; don’t be to finicky. Sliced 4 times then turned & sliced 4 times again then sliced cross-wise for a nice 1/4 inch dice in all. Into a med bowl.
1 med fresh tomato, 1/4 in dice. Into same bowl.
As much minced garlic as one can tolerate. Depending on size of clove. I can do 4 large. Into bowl.
1 lemon juiced over the tofu/tomato in bowl plus a couple tbl evoo, s & p. Toss gently to mix well.
Into 2 pasta bowls: Steamed broccoli, topped w/even amounts of tofu/tom mix.
Sprinkle w/a couple tbl grated parmesean. Viola.
This is not a warm dish. Room temp. But I do oven heat the bowls while in prep & have occasionally prepped the tofu mix prior to steaming the broccoli to take the chill off.
I usually have a couple of small servings of steamed broccoli left over. Spread on a small cookie sheet. Freeze for an omelet or…

  296. I make the spinach with about 14oz of spinach and my husband and I ate all of it. Served with the Parmesan Spinach stuffed chicken from Sprouts and asparagus.

  297. Very good. Super easy. I am going to use scallops next time. Thank you. Oh, I made your butternut squash noodles as a side. Love them too. 😁

  298. Made this recipe exactly but sub’d with salmon! Delicious! It was super quick too 🙂

Thank you Gina for another great recipe!

  299. I made this tonight and it was absolutely delicious. I do not like red bell peppers but my love convinced me to keep with the recipe and he was right, the red peppers gave it a sweet flavor. I used cod as the other forms of fish where not available or too pricey. Cod cooked up perfectly and went great with the spinach mixture. All of the skinnytaste recipes I have tried are fantastic and this is just another one that I will add to my rotation..

Made this for dinner tonight. Delicious and easy to cook . I have been using skinnytaste receipes for the last 2 1/2 years. Haven’t had a bad meal yet. 🙂

    1. I am dying to try this, but I’m allergic to red peppers. Any suggestions for a substitute? Thanks!

  303. Yup, it’s a hit for sure and here’s why – it’s delicious, easy to make and looks very fancy. First time I made it with Alaskan Cod and just made it again with chicken breast. Hubby adds brown rice but I skip that to keep it within the 6 FS points. Very filling. This is a must!!!

  304. Delicious!! Will try it with chicken as well, because anything on top of that wonderful spinach is sure to be good.

  305. Want to try this, but would be making it for 2. So I guess I would use half the butter, oil, cream cheese and half and half.

  306. Made this last night. Absolutely delicious and very easy to make!
Had a very rich and creamy flavor. Husband is not a huge white fish lover and he enjoyed it as well.

  307. This recipe was absolutely delicious! My bf also raved about it . Since I’m on keto, I served it as is.  It was also very easy. 5 stars !! This will be going into my weekly rotation.

  308. Can anyone tell me which points we track for WW? If it says 6 freestyle points +9 is it 9 that we track? I appreciate anyone’s help.

    1. Hi Stephanie. It is 6 FS points and it is 9 points plus, which is an older WW program. If you are following freestyle it is 6.

  309. This recipe was amazingly decadent!!  My husband can’t believe this is part of our healthy eating plan.  It seems too rich and delicious!  Gina, your recipes have helped me stay with my WW plan for longer than I ever believed possible.  I am delighted with every recipe I’ve tried. Just purchased your One and Done Cookbook and think I’ll buy an Insta-Pot too since you love yours so much.  Thank-you for the awesome recipes!!

  310. I LOVE your recipes and this one is on top of the list for me. I am thinking to make Fish Florentine for larger crowed (12people). Do you have any suggestion how to keep it warm for serving at dinner if I make it 2-4 hours earlier? Thank you!

    1. I was hoping to see an answer to your question. I’m serving for company as well.  Did you end up making it ahead??  What sides did you serve?  Thanks!

Amazing!! This is my third time making it in the past month or so!! Keep the awesome recipes coming. You are such a blessing!

  313. I only know how to make salmon, but I’ve wanted to eat more fish. Halibut was on special and this recipe was so fast, easy and delicious. I’m not a huge fan of really rich dishes, but because of the minimal amount of cream and cheese, I thought it tasted luscious but noy overly rich. My husband thought it was loaded with butter. He couldn’t believe there was less than a tablespoon in the whole recipe! Will definitely make again.

  314. This is THE BEST fish recipe.  It is easy, cooks quickly and is a huge hit with my family.  I’m going to try it with shrimp and scallops as someone suggested. .  I use a lot more spinach as we love it too.

  315. I’m wondering if anyone attempted to substitute the half & half with lite coconut milk and if it was successful?

  316. Seriously one of the best dinners I have ever made! My family LOVED it – and asked that we add it to our weekly roster of dinners. I used 2% evaporated milk because I didn’t have any cream, and I added mushrooms (because I love them!) and it turned out perfectly. I would tag a picture but I don’t know how 😜Thanks Gina – your recipes are always amazingly delicious!

  317. LOVE this recipe. Will be making it for the second time in 4 days because my husband requested it. I used tilapia instead of halibut or sea bass though. We’re on a budget and can’t afford the more expensive fish. Tilapia worked great though! Thank you so much!

This recipe is absolutely fabulous and my family LOVED it and would be great with any type of protein. My husband has gone low carb so finding recipes that are satisfying, interesting and keep us full has not been as easy as I thought. I started trolling your LC recipes and they have made my day. Thanks Gina!!

  319. Let me just say I’ve been a Skinnytaste follower for years and HOLY MOLY this was good. I didn’t have all the ingredients and it still was a completely wow meal. I used flounder, added diced yellow onion and sliced cherry tomatoes. (I didn’t have any bell pepper on hand). It was still so colorful and the presentation looked so fancy. This will be on heavy rotation at my home. Thank you Gina!!

  320. HOME. RUN. My boyfriend could not stop talking about how delicious this was. I used salmon instead of white fish and probably more parmesan (I didn’t measure it out) and holy moly, this was delicious. 110% making this over and over and over again.

  321. Made this last night and everyone REALLY liked it. Didn’t need to double the sauce. Used wild caught bass. I wasn’t sure if the spinach mixture should cook while cooking the fish. I was afraid it would boil down to nothing. So, I covered it and took it off the burner. When the fish was almost done, I put it back on low to reheat. I will definitely make this again! Thanks, Gina for another great recipe!!

  322. My husband and I DEVOURED this meal. We used halibut we caught ourselves in Alaska. I had fat free cream cheese and fat free half and half already on hand. It was fast, easy, super tasty, and really easy to make it look pretty on the plate. We are definitely coming back to this one, may add some capers next time. You know, because we live on the edge. lol.

I lived in Alaska when I was 10!  My biggest food memory was Halibut!!  I’m jealous I can’t get it as fresh as you BUT the Cod i got fresh at my local seafood market did a great job filling in!!  My husband and I completely devoured this meal!

Made this last night for dinner, with a side of mashed cauliflower. The recipe was easy and delicious, I would highly recommend making this.

  324. Gina… I have been following your website since it started
and have made so many of your recipes.  I recently started
eating mainly vegetarian with the exception of fish due to
digestive issues.  Problem is I don’t much care for fish.  Your
recipes have changed my life.  This one is my all time favorite.
    Thank you!

  325. I made this with Halibut tonight and it’s turned out Amazing! The spinach was creamy, but without the heaviness and extra calories of traditional creamed spinach. Another win for skinnytaste.com!

  326. We did this for two with a 10-oz black cod filet and low-fat milk —so good!!  Halved the recipe overall, but used a whole red pepper.  I’m on board!

  327. I can’t do cream cheese(or sour cream).  Not a fan and I have a really hard time with it.  Any suggestions for what I could sub it with?

  328. Oh wow, I’ve been reading rave reviews and had high expectations….sometimes that leaves me disappointed but not this time! This exceeded my high hopes. Used tilapia and cooked it 3 1/2
minutes per side. Used fat free half and half and full fat cream cheese (because I had them on hand) and had great results. Can’t wait to try this with chicken or different fish.

    1. I LOVE your recipes and this one is on top of the list for me. I am thinking to make Fish Florentine for larger crowed (12people). Do you have any suggestion how to keep it warm for serving at dinner if I make it 2-4 hours earlier? Thank you!

Idk what I did wrong, but I followed the recipe exactly and we had to throw it out and go grab tacos. That’s only happened once before in my 12 year marriage. 🙁 I wanted to like it so bad.

    1. I made this today for the first time, followed this recipe and it was delicious! Thank you so much for sharing! It was a hit in my family today! Definitely making this again soon!

    2. I can’t imagine  why you didn’t like this. It is our favourite  fish recipe.  Try it again. I use thick cod fillets.

    1. Hi I just used frozen spinach and used the same amount about 9 ounces. The packages gaves you an idea of how much that is. I then steamed it in the microwave then put it in my frying pan with the cheeses and creamer. Came out perfect.

  331. First recipe cooked from your site and it was amazing.  I also cooked cod.  The spinach sauce was delish!  And the men on my house agreed!  Will be trying more recipes now!

  332. I made Fish Florentine tonight and my wife and I love it! The creamed spinach is delicious and pares perfectly with the pan seared white fish. This one’s a keeper and we’ll be making it again for sure.

  333. This was absolutely delicious. I made it with a mushrooms on the side, which sounds like blasphemy alongside fish, but the creaminess of the sauce with the spinach tied it together amazingly. My boyfriend made it with cod. So, so good.

Made this last night with cod and it was delicious. My husband was very skeptical at first, but he loved it! Definitely a keeper. Thanks for another fabulous and easy recipe!

  335. Made this last night. It was so good! My husband is not a fan of fish but he said it was delicious. Will definitely make again.

  336. So good – made this with cod. Although I think I will double the sauce next time. I only made fish for 3 people and we used up all of the sauce and could have done with more. Great recipe – will definitely go on my rotations.

Absolutely delicious!!!! Rather than half & half I used low sodium chicken stock. It was soooooo good!

    1. Thanks Ronda. I was trying to decide how to make it lower in fat – it’s high!!! I wonder if milk would work too? Maybe 1%?

Really good. I do recommend a thicker white fish. I used flounder and it was too flakey. I used vegan cream cheese and it was delicious. I’ll make this again. A winner in our house.

  340. Omg. This is amazing!!! We had tilapia so that is what I used, just adjust the cooking time depending on what protein you choose. Might try shrimp next time!!

Great recipe! Fast, easy, and everyone loved it! Used heavy cream instead of half & half and cream cheese (that’s all I had in the fridge!)
    It was wonderful!

  342. This recipe was fantastic!  Only change made was subbing heavy cream for half and half as that is what I had on hand.  Will definitely be making again!

We are not fish “lovers” but it was part of the weekly plan so….I bought Talapia on sale …and my husband said it’s the best fish he’s ever had!!
It’s so easy and delicious!  I’m thrilled to have a fish recipe I’ll make over and over!!

  344. Just make this and it was awesome! I used chicken broth instead of  half and half to lighten it a bit.

  345. Thank you so much for another delicious recipe! My kids were horrified to see all the spinach going into the pan and both assumed they would hate it. My daughter’s review was that it was so delicious and she didn’t realize she actually liked spinach. After cleaning her plate, she said, “Mom, you can definitely make this again!” My son said “This is actually pretty good. The spinach looked so gross I didn’t think I could eat it but this is really good!” Lol Thank you so much for giving me a vehicle to get my kids to realize that spinach isn’t evil after all.

  346. I saw this on Instagram and knew I had to try it!  This will be a favorite of ours.  Just DELICIOUS!!  I made mine with cod!!
Thank you. I love your website!
    Kathy

  347. Just made this with this with salmon.  I hade a large salmon so I had 8 fillets.  I made 4 fillets with just the salt and pepper.  The other 4 fillets I used blackened seasoning.  This was so good.  My oldest son was trying to eat everyone’s Florentine sauce.  So i have to make more of the Florentine sauce for the leftover salmon.  I will be making thinking again and again!

  348. Looking forward to having this for dinner tonight after reading all the amazing reviews…..may add a few fresh herbs!❤️

  349. I’m really watching fat and calories…do you think this recipe would be ok without the half and half?

  350. This was absolutely fabulous. Easy to make, simple ingredients, gourmet results. My husband who doesn’t really like vegetables or fish loved it. Will definitely makes this again and again. Gina, you are the best! Thank for helping us all to eat so healthy without sacrificing taste.

  351. This is literally the best recipe I have ever made, EVER. It was so easy to make and so delicious. I doubled the spinach/sauce because I had seen everyone raving about it so I wanted to make sure I had enough. It was so delicious! The fish was cooked perfectly, also!

SOOOO good!  I wasn’t sure if my husband was going to be in, since he’s not big on “cream sauce”.
Well, he loved it and went back for seconds.  I omitted the bell pepper and substituted with assorted tomato halves and a dash of red pepper and used 15 oz of spinach.  Incredible!

  353. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I made this tonight for hubby and our 2 teenage daughters. Everyone, including me, loved it! This is a keeper and will be a staple in our weeknight meals. Next time I’ll add a little fresh squeezed lemon as you have pictured. I forgot to do it this time but didn’t miss it. It was perfect! Thank you!!

HOLY COW this was so good! The worst part of it was holding myself back from eating the entire pan of spinach. 🙂 I used Halibut Steaks – since my fresh fish market didn’t have any filet, and it was “restaurant worthy”. A bit pricey, but worth every penny in deliciousness!

LOVED THIS! I used Trident Seafood’s Wild Alaska Pollock, it was so delicious!! Everyone should try this will Wild Alaska Pollock!!

  356. I can’t wait to try this. It looks absolutely delicious and from reading the reviews it would appear so.

  357. The You May Also Like section is frozen on the same two recipes. I love this feature as it sold me on your site. I would love to see it fixed.

      1. Yes. On each recipe, I only see the Waldorf salad cups and the asparagus tarts in that section

  358. I’ve never in my life cooked fish (not shellfish) that turned out so good! How a piece of fish simply seasoned with salt & pepper and then sauteed could taste so delicious is beyond me. If course, it’s the fact that I got a great piece of fish– the market near me has wonderful dish and I got a great piece of sea bass. It was so good that I’ve gone back 3 Fridays in a row to get — and cook — the same thing. I told the guy at the fish counter about it and was very happy to hear it.

  359. Made this with cod and my 9-year old daughter was all “fish is so gross!”  I had frozen pizza for the kids on Friday night but she wanted to try this and loved it!  So easy and delicious!  Will definitely make again!  Thanks for the recipe!

  360. The spinach in this recipe is AMAZING!!! I am obsessed, and could eat it every day. So yummy!!! Thank you so much for all your delicious and easy recipes!!! You can never go wrong making a SkinnyTaste recipe.

  361. I just made this with 2 boneless chicken breasts, I sautéed them in the olive oil and butter let them rest and continued with recipes. Once the cream cheese was melted I added back the chicken and covered with spinach mixture. So delicious 😋

  362. Absolutely delicious! It was just the two of us, so I cooked only two pieces of fish. But I didn’t halve the spinach mixture — thank goodness! I think we could’ve eaten it all even if I had quadrupled it! Definitely a keeper.

  363. I am currently making this for the second time since you posted it. My husband and I both love it! It really is on par with the best restaurant meal you’ve ever had. Thank you for sharing it!

  364. Just started a low-carb regimen and have been looking for some good recipes. This one is a KEEPER! Easy to make, and delicious.

Keeper!  This is a FABULOUS recipe that checks all of the boxes.  It is EASY, DELICIOUS, and does NOT leave you feeling like you ate anything other than a wonderful meal.

I will be making this dish at least once a month and I wouldn’t blink at serving it to guests.

I followed the recipe as written, even using the 2lb bag of frozen cod at Aldi WITH THE EXCEPTION of adding baby bella mushrooms while sauteeing the peppers (I used 1/2 Yellow & 1/2 Red to make the dish colorful) AND I also added another Aldi clamshell pkg of fresh baby spinach at the very end so there would be some less wilted spinach just before serving.

  366. We made it tonight with Sea Bass. What a treat! There are only two of us and we almost finished the spinach. Totally agree with the comments about the sauce and amount of spinach Another keeper!

  367. Yum! Made this with Costco Mahi Mahi fillets and it was delicious.  Super-simple and quick too, which was a bonus.  The sauce is wonderuflly creamy….even when I used low fat half and half.  The cream cheese is the kicker.  Great recipe!

      1. Not the original commenter, but I made it with chicken last night. I did 4 chicken breasts with some Cajun seasoning and about 1/4 a cup of panko, roasted in the oven at 400 convection for about 25 minutes. It was fantastic! The spicy from the Cajun seasoning really complimented the sauce well,

  368. Delicious! The sauce is delightful, So savory! My husband requested that I put this into weekly rotation

  369. Really loved this! Used Chilean Sea Bass since it was on sale at Whole Foods. Probably one of my top ST recipes 🙂 Always looking for flavorful fish recipes

  370. This was soooooo good! I used fresh tilapia and it was delicious! This is one of our new favorite Skinnytaste recipes!

  371. This is amazing!!! I actually substituted the peppers with artichoke hearts and sundries tomatoes.  Everyone LOVED it!!!!

Absolutely delicious!! The only addition that I made was was fresh mushrooms. I sauteed the mushrooms first and removed them before adding the red bell pepper and garlic. I added them back into the skillet after cooking the spinach. I think that this is one of the best fish recipes that I’ve cooked!

  373. I loved this dish.  I had extra florentine sauce and scrambled it with some eggs the next day.  That was also very good!

  374. Wow. Simple and delicious! This is going straight into my regular repertoire. I didn’t use the butter or heavy cream (used rice milk instead of heavy cream). Still fantastic. What a treat.

OMG!  This recipe is divine.  It was so simple to make and the flavors were delicious.  I can’t wait to make it again, next time I may try with Chicken breast.  It truly is a fabulous dish.

  376. I baked the fish rather than pan sear since I had the oven on anyway. Came out perfect. Also didn’t have half and half so I used skim. The cream cheese made it really rich, don’t think I’ll change a thing next time.

I’m proud of myself for making this delicious fish recipe, I didn’t want to stop eating it. ????????????
Everything you posted about this dish was absolutely true, I will be making this at least once a week .
II’m going to try it with flounder as I have this in my freezer again thank you for posting this☺

  378. Another winner! Besides the great flavor, the 30 minutes from prep to table is fantastic for a quick weekday dinner. Definite keeper recipe!

  379. I made this with tilapia last night and it was fantastic!  I don’t like peppers so I subbed with diced tomatoes and it was amazing.  I’ve been looking for a new fish dish and plan on adding this to the weekly rotation. Thanks for a another great recipe!

    1. Cindy, how much coconut milk did you use please as substitute for half & half and cream cheese?
      Thanks

  380. This was absolutely delicious! Definitely a keeper! I made it last night and my son-in-law said it looked like something from a very expensive restaurant, and he loved the taste, as we all did.

  381. I made this dish with Mahi Mahi and doubled the sauce ingredients.
    5 Stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️????

  382. We are literally just finishing this dinner & my kids & husband are licking the sauce off the plate!!  I love having a winner that the whole family enjoys!   Thank you for this amazing site & all of your wonderful recipes!    We love them!!

    1. Can’t wait to try. Will double spinach as some have suggested. The finished plated product seems more than a half cup. I think I might lick the plate 😂

  383. Wow! This was fantastic! I’m not much of a fish fan. I try to be, but I just don’t like it that much. This was the best recipe.
My fish was a lot thinner than the fish pictured, so I only cook it 3 minutes a side and it came out perfect. Thank you for this great recipe.

  384. I made this last weekend using Cod. It was so delicious that we are going to have it again this weekend.

  385. I made this tonight for my husband and our granddaughter. I grilled some salmon and served it on a bed of the Florentine sauce. Holy Cow, it’s good.  G’baby liked it too.

  386. I made this tonight with scrod and it was amazing. I usually like bass or halibut, but my fishmonger  (close family friend) directed me to the scrod as it was the freshest. It was so good and hubby said recipe was a keeper.  Thank-you.  Your recipes are wonderful!!!

  387. Made it tonight with chicken (hubs not a fish lover) and I can confirm that it was excellent with chicken too!! Used fat free half and half and a little less butter/oil and it was so yummy. Will make again!

  388. I had leftover grilled chicken in the fridge that I wanted to use up. I made the spinach part and tossed in the diced up grilled chicken and it was amazing! I can’t wait to try with the fish. I think it would even be amazing over zoodles like a sauce. So delicious!

My husband is not a fish lover so I try a lot of different recipes to see if anything sticks. While he still put tartar sauce on top, he said “this is good” which means this recipe is a winner! I am a fish lover (as well as spinach) and thought this recipe was great. Thanks Gina!

  390. Made this last night with trigger fish and it was so rich, flavorful and satisfying. You continue to amaze me on how eating healthy doesn’t have to mean sacrificing taste. Thanks Gina!

  391. So delish! We used striper and also added broccoli (bc I didn’t have enough spinach) but it was yummy!

  392. Delicious -eating it now.   I basically halved the recipe but didn’t have enough spinach so I used all of the spinach mixture for one portion.  I used unsweetened almond  milk and two wedges of  laughing cow light cheese.  It was quite good.  I used cod which is not my favorite fish. It was tasty but I might try it with another fish next time. I served it with roasted carrots and asparagus

Just made this using Cod.  I am always looking for the faster way, so I used roasted peppers that I cut up.  I added after the spinach wilted and added with final ingredients.  It was delicious.  This is a favorite for fish.  I think sauce would also be good served wit( seared scallops.

  395. Made this last weekend, WOW! Love Love it, hubby said we can eat this every week 🙂  Thanks Gina for once again giving me a great tasting WW recipe.

  396. I wish I had taken a picture!! It was great! And I made as the recipe directed, as I usually do first.
My husband thought it would be great with scallops. Or other fish or grilled shrimp. Yummy sauce.

Made this tonight. Had to sub a few ingredients which I hate to do but it’s what I had in the house.

    Cod
    1 bag spinach
    Diced Roma tomatoes
    1 diced zucchini
    2 percent milk
1 oz of regular creme cheese
And it was excellent. Picky husband inhaled it !

  398. I’ve had my eye on this recipe since it was posted last week and I finally got to make it tonight for dinner. Delicious! Everyone in my family gobbled it up. Next time, I think I’ll add a little more spinach, as we had plenty of the creamy sauce.

  399. This was one of the best ways I have tasted to make fish an elegant  entree.  I think I will be able to convert some non fish eaters with this one

This is my new favorite fish recipe – Loved it!! Made it with Mahi Mahi and came out perfect. Your recipes are so awesome!

  401. I made this the other night with grouper and it was delicious! Rather than using 1/2 and 1/2, I used skim milk and it was plenty creamy enough with fewer calories. Making that change reduced the points from 6 to 5. This will be added to our regular rotation. Will also try it with chicken breast and shrimp for variety. Great recipe!

  402. Oh. My. Goodness. I am in love with this sauce. Just the right amount of tang. So, so good.  Thank you – my mouth is very, very happy.

    1. Oops. Meant to post this on the Chicken Tighs with Shallots in Red Wine Vinegar recipe. I’m making the Fish Florentine tomorrow for dinner.

  403. I made this tonight with mahi mahi & grouper. This was such a hit! Just as you described, something you would order in a restaurant. I will definitely incorporate this into my regular rotation, especially to add more fish into the menu. Thanks Gina!

  404. This is beyond FANTASTIC! So delicious. I used cod loin. I could also see it being great with chicken or shrimp. So so good, going in my permanent recipe book! Thanks Gina!

  405. Do you think arugula could be substituted for the spinach? My husband is allergic to spinach but this looks so good!

  408. Made this last night and was INSANE. SO GOOD. I think one of my favorite Skinnytaste recipes. Thank you so much!

  409. I made this last night and it was so good my husband wasn’t even mad about how much I spent on the Sea Bass! ????

  410. I made this with scrod last night and it was amazing! I used light cream instead of half and half because it’s what we had. I also added cherry tomatoes.
Can’t wait to make this again!

    Thank you!

Hi, I made this dish tonight with a wild caught pacific cod, it was really tasty!  I followed the recipe exactly.  I think next time I make it i may cut down on the cream cheese, maybe just use an ounce instead of 2.  Just my personal preference.

  414. I’m not so sure if the creamy sauce is good for my diet (I’m following simple weight loss system from parental-love.com), but this fish was delicious and probably balanced with daily menu it would be not so bad at all. It is really simple to prepare and I can recommend it to all of you!

  415. Made this last night with haddock and orange roughy. Both were delicious – I preferred the haddock, but my husband preferred the orange roughy. Served it on top of zero point roasted spaghetti squash to soak in the flavor of the cream sauce without adding points. So rich and delicious – we both felt like we were eating something much more fattening. Loved it! Thanks for another wonderful recipe!

  416. So good!!! I was skeptical that the spinach was going to be the winner of this dish but it stole the show! Can’t wait to make this again!

  417. Made it tonight, it was very good. I practically poached my tilapia to cook it. Used some butter spray on it.

Made whole recipe for two of us. Saved points by cutting Parmesan cheese to 2 TBSP, less butter, 1-% milk instead of cream.

It was great with roasted potatoes.

Thank you for another great recipe, Gina!

  418. Oh my gosh, you are killing me…that looks amazing….thank you for all you do.  Guess what I am having for dinner next week?????  I have lost 8 pounds on WW this month and you are helping me so much!

  419. I made this tonight with snapper. It’s delicious! I plan on making the cream spinach as a side with other dishes! Gina, I have followed you for years! I want to thank you for all of your fabulous recipes!

OUTSTANDING!!! Made it just like the recipe except left the garlic out. Used Halibut for the fish. Definitely a redo.

  426. I made this last night and it was so good! It was simple, fast and light – yet I was full all night! Thanks for the recipe, I can’t wait to try it with shrimp and chicken too!

  427. I had this tonight for dinner. Made a single portion as my husband doesn’t eat fish. It was so easy and absolutely delicious!

  428. I made this last night. Hubby and I both loved it! I didn’t have any fresh spinach, but I did have frozen and it worked perfectly.

  429. Looks delish! Do you think I could change up the sauce with greek yogurt and maybe almond milk to omit cream cheese and half and half? Looking for a more 21 day fix approved sauce to go with the fish and spinach. Any suggestions would be great on making it work!

  430. It looks like there are tomatoes, or something else that is a orangish red with spinach, yet I don'”t see anything in the ingredient kist. Would love to make
    . Thanks,

    1. I made it with sour cream last night and it worked fine! I haven’t made it with cream cheese to be able to compare, but we thought it was delicious!

  431. This was delicious, quick and easy.  I made it with cod but think it would be good with just about any fish. I plan to make it again soon and will use salmon and also try it with scallops. I served with rice.  Definitely a keeper.

  432. So tasty and easy! I used Paiche from Whole Foods – a delicious white Peruvian fish similar to swordfish or sea bass. I made the recipe pretty much as listed (+ extra spinach) but might experiment with less butter and half/half in the future. This recipe will definitely be going in my regular rotation. Thank you!

  433. I made this for dinner tonight and it was fantastic! I used trout because that’s what I already had and I seasoned it with a little red pepper in addition to salt and black pepper. The creamed spinach would make a great side dish, as well. Definitely adding this recipe to my rotation! Thank you!

I just made this but subbed kale for spinach and tomatoes for red peppers. It’s amazing

  436. Made this last night – it was so incredibly delicious! My husband and I devoured it – will definitely make again. Thank you, Gina!

    1. I actually used skim milk because it was what I had on hand and it turned out delicious! I’m sure not as rich as the OG though 🙂 thanks for a great recipe Gina!

    1. I just made this tonight using a fresh tomato (chopped) in place of the red pepper–it was delicious!! I didn’t cook it as long as the pepper–just enough to warm the tomato and for the garlic to start making everything smell good! 🙂 Hope this helps!

  437. Any ideas what we could substitute for the cream cheese and half and half to make this Whole30 compliant also? Thanks!

  438. I love the look of the spinach base and the fish on top.  I have shrimp on hand and will use them, adjusting the cooking time.  The serving dishes look more like bowls than plates which is something I am looking for.  Do you have any details on them?

These bowls are great. We use ours all the time

    1. Tuna steaks would be good, but think of it more as a Tuna Rockefeller. Put the sauce on top of the fish and sprinkle with bacon.

  439. This is going on my menu for this week. I can taste it now using a fresh piece of grouper. Can’t wait to eat this one!

  440. This was fantastic! It’s my new favorite Skinnytaste recipe! We used fresh cod. Wonderful. I could absolutely see using chicken for the protein if you don’t care for fish, as the recipe suggests.

    1. I’d recommend going with a thicker whitefish if you can. I’m afraid tilapia wouldn’t hold up quite as well. But, if you have tilapia in on hand, give it a shot!

  441. This recipe looks like it’s just a burst of flavors! I need to make time to give this recipe a try today haha thank you!
