Steak and Cheese Sandwiches with Onions and Mushrooms are one of my favorite things to eat! This lighter version has some meaty mushrooms mixed in with the steak, it’s delish!

Steak and Cheese Sandwiches

I have a confession to make… steak and cheese sandwiches are my weakness! I love them for lunch or dinner and have a really hard time passing up a Charley’s Subs whenever I’m in the mall. I blame my Mom, she always made the BEST steak and cheese sandwiches for dinner, and luckily I don’t have to give them up and neither do you! I love this with Swiss, provolone, cheddar or even American cheese… whatever you wish!

Steak and Cheese Sandwiches with Onions and Mushrooms

Yesterday I posted a recipe for Quick Skillet Steak with Mushrooms and Onions, this sandwich uses that steak recipe as the filling, also a great way to use up leftovers. And as I’ve mentioned before, I always scoop out some of the bread to make a bigger sandwich without the added calories or points.

Make it more substantial and serve this with a cup of soup such as Cauliflower Soup or Zucchini Soup.

  1. I made this last night. I had left over steak and cut it up in strips and added it at the end to warm. It was delicious. Would definitely make it again.

  2. I have been making these for a few years now and I use beef tenderloin pieces and I also add peppers to the mushrooms and onions. I use a french loaf and mix 1/4 pkg. of cream cheese, 1/4 cup of mayonnaise and 2 garlic cloves. I have also swapped chicken for the beef!

  3. I’ve entered the nutritional values in my WW app. And I’m only getting 11 points? Also it appears nothing is listed in the saturated fats. Is this because it’s at zero?
