Avocado Egg Rolls (air fryer or oven)

They are also so much cheaper to make yourself! If you like guacamole, you’ll love these avocado egg rolls! A variation of these air fryer buffalo chicken egg rolls! The avocado filling is so delicious I would even serve it as a salad. It’s made with sun dried tomatoes and red onion, lime juice and cilantro.

The first time I tried these in the Cheesecake Factory I knew I wanted to recreate them. The ones at Cheesecake Factory are served with a tamarind cashew sauce. Rather than making it complicated, I went with a sweet and spicy aioli-esque sauce. With the sauce, it’s 4 points for each egg roll. Without the sauce, it’s 3 points each.

Variations and Tips

  • You can use spring roll wrappers in place of egg roll wrappers.
  • Lots of questions about freezing. I have not tried this personally with these eggrolls, but I do this with my other recipes so I think it would be fine. I would freeze them uncooked.

How To Make

These Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls, filled with shredded boneless chicken breast, hot sauce and blue cheese make the perfect appetizer! Bake them in the oven or air fryer!

Prep: 15 minutes
Cook: 15 minutes
Total: 30 minutes
Yield: 10 eggrolls
Serving Size: 1 eggroll with sauce

Ingredients

Egg Rolls:

  • 12 ounces from 3 medium Hass avocados, cubed
  • Juice from 1-2 small limes
  • ¼ cup chopped sundried tomatoes, packed in oil, drained
  • 2/3 cup diced red onion
  • 1/3 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 10 egg roll wrappers
  • Small bowl of water for sealing
  • Olive or canola oil spray

Dipping Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon sweet chili sauce
  • A few dashes of sriracha, plus more to taste

Instructions

Air Fryer Directions:

  • In a medium bowl, combine avocado, lime juice, sundried tomatoes, onion, cilantro, salt and pepper, to taste. Gently toss to combine.
  • One at a time, place egg roll wrapper on a clean surface, points facing top and bottom like a diamond.
  • Spoon ¼ cup mixture onto the bottom third of the wrapper.
  • Dip your finger in a small bowl of water and run it along the edges of the wrapper.
  • Lift the point nearest you and wrap it around the filling.  Fold the left and right corners in toward the center and continue to roll into a tight cylinder.
  • Set aside and repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  • Spray all sides of the egg rolls with oil.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 400F. In batches, cook 400F for 6 minutes, turning halfway through, or until golden.
  • Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce and sriracha and serve on the side for dipping.

To Bake In The Oven:

  • Preheat the oven to 400F. Spray a sheet pan with oil.
  • Transfer the egg rolls to the baking sheet and cook until browned and crisp, about 16 to 18 minutes, turning halfway.

Love these! Great recipe for parties and very easy to make! Swapped fat fee Greek yogurt for Mayo.

  2. OH. MY. GOSH. These are so rich and decadent! I will make these again and again. My husband was like, “Are you sure this is ‘diet food’?” 🤣 My only complaint is that I could’ve eaten the entire batch!

Thanks for these amazing recipes that make us feel like we aren’t counting calories. 💜

  3. I just made these tonight.  Definitely agree that it is like eating hot guacamole.  That could easily be solved by adding shredded chicken or some shrimp.  I’d personally add a sprinkle of salt to the egg rolls when they finish cooking.  The dipping sauce was ok, not great in my opinion.

These were easy to make and delicious! I used my air fryer took about 7 minutes total.
    Thank you 😋😋😋

  5. Me and my husband really hated these, hot avocado is not a good flavor. We took one bite and threw the rest awah

The avocado mixture was delicious before I put in the egg roll wrapper and cooked it. I can’t deal with hot guacamole and that’s what this was.

  7. The texture of the warm avocado was not very appealing, the lime juice made it taste bitter, the ingredients on their own served cold tase delicious but too much avocado for it to be a hot food. I would add some protein and a lot less avocado and no lime next time. Unfortunately they ended up in the trash.

  8. These egg rolls are a great alternative to the Cheesecake Factory ones. So tasty with less calories! I’m making these again.

  9. This recipe is SO good! I left out the tomato because I don’t like it and added canned shredded chicken. It was delicious!

  10. I Love this recipe. What could be substituted for the sun dried tomatoes? My daughter is allergic to tomatoes!

  11. Super yummy!  If I freeze the extra egg rolls, how should I re-heat them?  Can I put frozen ones in the air-fryer or do I need to thaw?

  12. I used wonton wrappers by mistake. Only 1/2 of the amount of filling fit and I was wondering why. I laughed when I realized my mistake. However, they were great. I cooked them in the air fryer for less than the recommended time since they were so small. Overall, it was a great mistake because I made them as appetizers along with some other varieties at the same time and was able to eat more of each variety since they were so small.

  13. This was so easy to make and so delicious. I may adding some chorizo next time. I did not make the sauce I just used salsa to save on calories.

  14. Very easy to make and family approved!  Used air fryer for healthier choice. Definitely will make again.

  15. Great and vegan !! (I used vegan Mayo for the sauce). Only took a few minutes to assemble and cook.

    1. I have not tried this personally with these eggrolls, but I do this with my other recipes so I think it would be fine. I would freeze them uncooked.

  16. This are so yummy! I love the balance of red onion and cilantro! I had to stop myself from eating more than one. I baked mine in the oven @ 400 degrees for 18 mins. Perfect!

  17. I cannot find egg roll wrappers only spring roll wrappers.  Do I shorten the cooking time in the air fryer?  Thank you!  Looking forward to trying these.

  18. I made this today in the air fryer and they were delish.
My only comment is I wonder if there are larger egg roll wrappers?  Mine were much smaller then your picture?

  19. WOW! Great recipe. In my opinion this is much better than I have eaten at BJ’s Brewhouse restaurant-I found them very eggy. Since there is no egg here, I was so impressed and could not wait any longer to make it. Made it today, came out awesome. recipe is a keeper. I added red pepper flakes, Thai ground green chili(we like our food spicy), garlic and green onion. it is all about your teste. My husband who normally would not eat avocados ate most of these rolls. I am very thankful to you for sharing this recipe with us.

  20. These came out perfect! Flaky and crispy and not one exploded. The only thing I may adjust is the amount of lime I added. I used two full limes, maybe next time, 1 1/2 or a bit less, other than that, it was scrumious! Air fryers are the bomb.

  21. I would use less salt as well but didn’t have any problem getting them crispy. They still turned out great and can’t wait to make them again. With less salt 😉

  22. Can I substitute for spring roll wrappers? I can’t find egg roll wrappers anywhere! It appears spring roll wrappers might be too thin

These look great. Would fresh tomatoes work instead of sun dried? Or should I just leave them out since I do not have them?

  24. These are good but…all of mine busted open in the air fryer! They never did crisp up like yours. Any suggestions for them not to bust open?

  25. I only used 2 avocados and added 1 chopped chicken breast. I am going to use spring roll wrappers since I can’t find egg roll wrappers right now.
NOPE, NOPE, NOPE, do not use spring roll wrappers and air fry them. The filling is delicious but the spring roll wrappers turn in to condoms. The filling would be great as a nacho topping.

I only have 4 spring roll wraps . How much ingredients do I use and is the time the same for the air fryer

  27. Avacado Egg Rolls are amazing!! This recipe in the air fryer is totally easy and delicious! Sauce is a must!! So different and fun to make!

  28. Have you ever tried this using homemade egg rolls? I’d like to make these this weekend, and am unable to find egg roll wrappers anywhere

  29. these were good.. but next time i think i will try them un-fried and wrapped in spring rolls.. i thought the innards were better before i cooked them.

  30. Great! My first time making egg rolls, and they came out good! Now I’m on the hunt for other egg roll recipes!

This looks tasty and my daughter is excited. Is there a reason you don’t have a green smart points value? Thank you!

  32. When I get home from vacation these are on the menu. Gina, any ideas on substitutes for the sundried tomatoes? My wife won’t eat them. Dried chorizo? Vegetarian isn’t an issue.

  33. So excited to try these! Would you ever consider trying to recreate the Cheesecake Factory Firecracker Salmon rolls with cabbage slaw? I am so obsessed with those and I feel like the would be prefect for the air fryer!

  34. I made these today and they were delicious! A couple of them broke in the air fryer, I think, because I had too many in it at a time but they were really good. The sauce was a hit too!

  35. I just made these tonight for the 1st time. The are so yummy. The husband couldn’t wait for them to cool before trying. He likes them too!!  Pretty easy to make. My wrapping skills improved with each one.

  36. I don’t have an air fryer, so I split the batch and actually fried some of them, and the other half I baked. Whatever you do, don’t bake them! They don’t taste right baked; it’s a completely different flavor than the fried batch I did. I need to get an air fryer and see if it’s more like the flavor of actually frying them because they were great fried.

  37. Made these yesterday & just had a leftover.
Just placed back in air fryer for a few minutes to crisp right up. Love them. Really easy and super tasty!

  38. I made these for a friend and myself for brunch, we both loved them! They are easy and fresh and crispy air fried.

  39. Super excited to try out this recipe this weekend, just got an air fryer and have been cooking up a storm with it.

  40. I made these last night. It was so easy and yummy. I’m not a fan of sun dried tomatoes but I used a sun dried tomato spread and it was still delicious.

Delicious!!!!! Made these recently and for the sauce, combined some adobo sauce, miracle whip and a little horse radish. Don’t skimp on the tomatoes – they really do add a good flavor. Will make these again soon. Enjoy.

  42. If I make a batch of 10, but eat only 1, will the avocado filling in the rest of the rolls turn brown if I store them (air-fried) in the refrigerator? what do you thinnk?

      1. I had leftovers and ate them over the next few days and they were still absolutely delicious. No brown avocado at all! I’m sure the lime juice played a role in that.

      1. I meant to say the refrigerated section in the produce department of the grocery store. Not awake enough yet I suppose 😉

      2. Can someone provide a pic or brand name? I’m seeing won ton wrappers, but they don’t appear to be the same (they are tiny). Appreciate the help!

  43. These look delicious! I am thinking of making them as a main dish, what else could you serve with them?

  44. Can these be reheated? If so, just pop them in the air fryer for a few minutes?

Thanks! Love all your recipes 🙂

    1. I couldn’t eat them all, so I froze them after cooking them in the air fryer.  Today I put two in the air fryer on 375 for about 10 minutes, and they tasted perfect.  Not as pretty as the first time, but delish!

  45. I have been considering an air fryer but have limited counter and storage space. My instant pot and slow cooker live in the back of the garage when not in use. What is the capacity of your brand and what is different from the existing commercial ones?

    1. It’s a 5.8 quart. The are all different, what I love about this one is the size of the basket, that it’s dishwasher safe, easy to clean, and has a pre-heat button and presets.

I have an airfryer question. Did you ever try the ones that are more in the shape of a toaster oven. I waited to buy one to see what you came up with. I love that you made it a large size for my big family with 3 teen age boys! Does your hold an entire chicken?

    Thanks

    1. Yes, I also have a Cuisinart. It’s a great size, although it tends to cook hotter, often burning some foods on top before they are cooked though.

    Morning
Very disappointing that your Air fryer does not ship to Canada.
What about all your fans here ?
    Will it eventually come here?
    Thank

Yum! Can’t wait to try this recipe. These avocado egg rolls are our absolute favorite dish at the Cheesecake Factory. And a healthier version is always a big plus! Thank you, thank you!

  49. I know you’re trying to promote the air fryer but I don’t have one and I HAVE to try this recipe! It looks amazing!! What would be the best for baking? 400F for 15-20 minutes, turned halfway?

  50. any good substitutions for sundried tomatoes? Or best to just omit them totally? Thanks, can’t wait to try!

  51. Honestly you’ve taught me how to cook, period. I made this tonight and it was delicious. I even feel confident enough to add touches that Gina would do. I added a splash of red pepper bc I didn’t have red onions. I also added black beans and corn. Thank you so much!! Can’t wait for my air fryer cookbook! Already pre ordered 🙂

    1. I have used white corn, taco size tortillas as a gf alternative.
I only made 6 since there was only one gf person. They took about the same amount of time as the egg roll wrappers and were a success. I baked them along with the egg roll ones. I’ve since purchased an air fryer and will use it to make them this weekend.

  52. I was just thinking its May I will have my air fryer by the end of the month 😀 I am so excited. Thank you for making it all possible 😀
