Baked brie in mini phyllo cups topped with craisins, walnuts and honey. Delicious bite-sized appetizers, perfect for the Holidays!
Someone gave me this idea last week after posting my mini pecan pies and I just loved it! You see I'm a huge fan of baked brie, so naturally creating baked brie a bit lighter with better portion control sounded very appealing to me.
Trader Joe's sells a light Brie which is what I used here, Presidente also carries one. For the topping, I thought using dried cranberries would be pretty for this time of year and I used honey as my glue to keep everything in place. And the taste? Just as good as the real thing, just be sure you don't eat the whole tray!
A wedge of brie would be enough to make two batches, so if you are serving a crowd, you can easily double this recipe.

ReplyDeleteWhere can I find the mini phyllo cups?
ReplyDeleteThey sell them in the supermarket in the freezer section.
DeleteSo pretty! I found mini phyllo cups in the frozen pie section of our grocery store. They are great!

ReplyDeleteThese look so yummey! I'm definitely trying this holiday season!
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful! I love the little phyllo cups, they are so easy and adorable!! May you and your family have a Happy Thanksgiving!!
ReplyDeleteI will be making these for a dinner party Saturday. Great timing yesterday for posting this.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to your and your family from a Canadian across the border. I am so grateful for all the hard work you put into this site and the wonderful recipes I have been able to make and share with others.
Can these be made ahead of time and served a few hours later, or should they be served immediately? I'd love to make these for our Thanksgiving celebration tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteYummo! Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteI made these for thanksgiving app today and they were my favorite thing I ate! I ate two more instead of desert! Even the non-Brie lovers approved!
ReplyDeleteWow....brie, cranberries, honey and nuts... all of my favourite foods in the same cup!
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be sooo good.
Lovely! I might trying using a little leftover cranberry sauce instead of the Craisins. And maybe a little laughing cow cheese for those who aren't brie fans. Have bookmarked to try soon.
ReplyDeleteI made this for Thanksgiving this year as an appetizer and passed it out to my family as we were cooking. It was a hit!!!
ReplyDeleteMmm. I made these this afternoon. My husband and I loved them. I had brie for the first time just a few months ago. I loved it and couldn't believe I hadn't tried it sooner. This was my first time preparing a dish with it. This was super easy and turned out wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThese look amazing! One of my favorite things my mother used to make for me growing up was brie & raspberries in phyllo cups :) I can't wait to try this version for a holiday party
ReplyDeleteI have some goat cheese at home...I think I'll try that with this!
ReplyDeleteThese were amazing. I made them flow a small dinner party and they were all gone in no time. My only recommendation would be to get the Brie close to room temperature before putting in the oven. No one could believe this was "light"! Thanks Gina.
ReplyDeleteLOVED the mini pecan pies recipe last week-took to thanksgiving dinner. They were delish even tho I forgot the vanilla! These look even easier to make - pretty holiday appetizers.
ReplyDeleteA great recipe, I have traveled all round the world but I have never seen something like this before. This can make the table attractive.
ReplyDeleteHi Gina! Do you think I could make these and then transport them to a party, or are they best served straight out of the oven ? Thanks! -Jennifer
ReplyDeleteOk, when I plan my holiday party - I'm coming here for food!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great hand held taster!

I have used tart cramberry sauce made with splenda on this and also a chopped spinach great at the holidays
ReplyDeleteOh that looks so yummy, great, thanks for sharing this, i will surely try this.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the process of making these for a party I'm going to tonight. Yum...I'm excited about them! Just wanted to share that it's really easy to make your own phyllo cups...I just made some using this recipe and they turned out great: http://www.fifteenspatulas.com/homemade-phyllo-cups/ (you don't need as much butter as she uses - just a light brushing).
ReplyDeleteIf I wanted to bring these to a party, could I assemble them ahead of time and pop them in the oven at the party, or would the phyllo dough get soggy? Liz
ReplyDeleteDo you serve this warm, at room temp or cold???
ReplyDeleteThese are deeeeeee-licious. We quadrupled the recipe for our Christmas cocktail party of 20 people, and all 60 were gone in no time. I prepared the nut topping early in the day and let it sit out, cut the brie into cubes and refrigerated. Just had to assemble and pop in the oven right before our party started! Tasted great when they cooled to room temp as well as hot out of the oven. These will become a staple for our parties of all sizes!
ReplyDeleteI made these for an appetizer for Christmas Eve and they were a huge hit. Making them again for an appetizer party. So good....
ReplyDeleteAnother twist on this is use pepper jelly and toasted pecans, walnuts or sliced almonds on top. Yummo
ReplyDeleteHi gina! Love the idea of this but I'm allergic to walnuts. What are your feelings on replacing the walnuts with sunflower seeds so it still has a crunch?
ReplyDeleteI've made these a few times now...a hit every time!! Bringing them to a wine tasting party tonight! I've been doing the pre-bake as mentioned on the box of mini shells suggests for extra crunch...I highly recommend! Thanks for sharing this recipe!!
ReplyDeleteThese are AMAZING!! I made them for a family get together so I doubled the recipe and there was a coin flip to see who got the last one! Gina, you have made eating healthy and staying on plan easy. My family and I thank you so much for all the hard work you put into providing these tasty recipes.
ReplyDeletePS: I am married to a Puerto Rican and he loves the Carribean recipes. Thanks so much!
I really want to make these but can't get mini Phyllo cups here in Spain...I was thinking I could use puff pastry but am not sure about the form; should I try and make one big one and cut it into pieces? Or? I have a dinner party coming up and would love to use this as an appetizer. Love your website, btw!!
ReplyDeleteThese were SO easy! I made these as a last minute appetizer and they were a huge hit. I'm not exactly sure the difference, but I used the Laughing Cow Light Brie and 3 ounces of their cheese is 3 triangle pieces. I used just 2 triangles and divided them amongst the 15 cups and it was plenty, so I'm thinking the ones I made might have had a slightly lower calorie count. I will definitely be making these again. What a great idea, thank you Gina! :)
