First off, this is the air fryer I have and love, and trust me after writing 2 air fryer cookbooks, I have tried a lot. I have the 7 quart, perfect for making a whole chicken.

What is healthier: baked sweet potato or baked potato?

Baked sweet potatoes and baked potatoes are both very healthy. If your goal is to add more fiber to your diet, then I’d go with a sweet potato. However, both types would be great additions to any diet. They both have a lot to offer:

  • Sweet potatoes have about 50% more fiber than a russet potato, but they have about the same amount of protein.
  • Sweet potatoes are loaded with more vitamins A and C than baked potatoes, while regular potatoes have more potassium and folate.

Tips for the Perfect Air Fryer Baked Sweet Potatoes

  • Buy sweet potatoes that don’t have soft skin, wrinkles, cracks, or soft spots.
  • Store sweet potatoes in a cool, dry place for three to five weeks.
  • Pierce sweet potatoes all over with a fork before air frying.

How long does it take to air fry sweet potatoes?

Sweet potatoes take about 35-45 minutes to cook at 370F degrees in the air fryer, which is less time than they take in the oven.

How to Serve Baked Sweet Potatoes

There are so many ways to serve baked sweet potatoes. The simplest way to eat them is with butter (or coconut oil if you’re dairy-free) on top – a little goes a long way. Another easy option that’s calorie-free is to sprinkle on chili powder, cumin, cinnamon, or pumpkin spice.

You can also stuff sweet potatoes with different fillings. Some delicious ideas are these Slow Cooker Chicken Enchilada Stuffed Sweet Potatoes, Loaded Vegetarian Baked Sweet Potato, and Italian Stuffed Sweet Potatoes.

  1. Didn’t say what temp to bake the potatoes and it isn’t less time than doing it in the oven.

  2. Thank you for this info. My air fryer won’t go to 370 (375 or 360) lol, so I made some adjustments. I also dabbled coconut oil all over it, just coz! You could then sprinkle on salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, pepper or whatever you like (pumpkin pie spice). I’m in a plain mood tonight so it’s just oil. Will have to keep track of the time, coz my temp isn’t yours.

  3. OK, here I go…2 clean sweet potatoes, poked with holes with fork. Do I need to pre-heat my air fryer to 370 degrees or just put them in? I’ll write more later.

  4. Thank you! This was very helpful!!

  5. Thank you! I want to love my air fryer and use it more often. I appreciate these easy recipes for beginners to use their kitchen gadgets.

  6. Thank you for this. As a beginner with an air fryer, I need to know the temperature and how long to cook for even the most basic things. I love sweet potatoes and can’t wait to try these!

  7. I like your books but I feel this recipe is up there with making ice cubes. 🙂

  8. I think this recipe sounds really easy. I am looking to buy an Air Fryer but don’t know what brand to buy or what the difference is. You said you love yours but only said it is a 7 quart. Can I ask what brand/kind it is and is it easy to use?

    Thank you
