Summer tomatoes, mozzarella and basil make a quick and easy French Bread Pizza Caprese – 5 ingredients, 10 minutes to make!

French Bread Pizza Caprese
I’ve been taking advantage of the tomatoes and basil overflowing from my garden with these simple French bread pizzas. Only 5 ingredients, less than 10 minutes to make! Have them for lunch with a salad or dinner paired with a light zucchini soup. And if you want a more traditional recipe you can modify this French Bread Pizza with your favorite toppings.
Sometimes the simplest things are the best and when you use the freshest, in season ingredients you can’t go wrong. Any variations of tomatoes work great, heirloom or vine are my favorite but plum tomatoes or anything growing in your garden works. You want to keep the basil green so chop it right before you make it.
How To Make
To make these easy French Bread Pizza Caprese look for a good quality whole wheat French baguette or Italian bread as your base. Slice the fresh mozzarella then and melt in the broiler or toaster oven. Finish with fresh tomatoes, basil and balsamic glaze. So good and simple.

This was so good, and easy to make too! I will be making it again!
I had to make this immediately so I did!!! I had everything except the French bread, so I made it with a hearty white sandwich bread. I spritzed it with olive oil spray before I topped it with cheese, and like another trader, drizzled the tomatoes with olive oil, coarse salt and pepper. Nearly an instant lunch and so good!!!
Loved this! Complemented it with a roasted corn salad with basil and feta
We made this last night, but on ciabatta sandwich rolls. They were amazing! Definitely going into a regular spot on the menu.
Are all these recipes in the cookbook?
This one is not, yet!
Delisious, so simple to make, and quick.
glad you liked it!!
OH MY GOSH-THIS SANDWICH IS DELICIOUS!!!!!! I used an awesome, thinly sliced italian bread and Trader Joe’s balsamic glaze, which is the BEST!! I will make this over and over again. It is a show-stopper both in its beautiful appearance and its utter deliciousness!
thanks!!
I just had this today!! It’s so good!! I love caprese and bruschetta, so of course I also loved this one. The only change I made was to drizzle extra virgin olive oil, and sprinkled some sea salt and freshly ground pepper.
I made my own balsamic glaze from a fig balsamic vinegar I purchased from a specialty shop on Pawley’s Island. You may also purchase balsamic glaze from your local supermarket.
awesome!
This was so good. I was incredibly happy to find a pizza recipe to substitute my family’s “takeout” night. Thank you so much!
Great!!
Is the balsamic glaze from a bottle or homemade?
from a bottle, or you can make it yourself by cooking down balsamic.
Where does one find these whole wheat french bread baguette? I’ve never seen them, or maybe never looked. I only have a Walmart , Meijer and Family Fare (spartan store) to shop at.. Could I bake my own??
In the bakery department. You can also use a whole wheat Italian bread as well.
Hi Gina,
How would you recommend cooking this on the grill?
Thanks!
On foil on indirect heat until the cheese melts
What is balsamic glaze? Do you have a recipe?
I buy it in the aisle with the balsalmic vinegar.
What. balsamic glaze do you use??
Delallo or Trader Joes
