Greek Turkey Burgers

I adapted my original turkey burger recipe and added fresh oregano and Feta cheese to the burgers. Then I made a simple Greek salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, red onion, roasted peppers, olives and the results were outstanding! I’ll be making these all summer.

A tip if you want to make these outside on the grill, make the patties ahead and keep them well chilled in the refrigerator (or put them in the freezer for 15 minutes) so they stay firm.

I adapted my original turkey burger recipe and added fresh oregano and Feta cheese to the burgers. Then I made a simple Greek salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, red onion and a package of Salad Savors and the results were outstanding! I'll be making these all summer.
Total: 30 mins
Yield: 5 servings
Serving Size: 1 burger + salad

Ingredients

  • 5 oz grated zucchini when squeezed 4 oz
  • 1 lb 93% lean ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup seasoned whole wheat breadcrumbs
  • 1 clove garlic crushed
  • 2 tbsp grated red onion
  • 1 tbsp fresh oregano
  • 3/4 tsp kosher salt and fresh pepper
  • 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese from Salad Savors
  • oil spray

For the salad:

  • 1 cucumber diced
  • 3/4 cup quartered grape tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp chopped red onion
  • 1/3 cup kalamata olives from Salad Savors
  • 1/4 cup roasted peppers from Salad Savors
  • 2 tsp red wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp fresh oregano
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • kosher salt
  • 1 tbsp crumbled feta from Salad Savors

Instructions

  • Squeeze ALL the moisture from the zucchini with paper towels.
  • In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, zucchini, breadcrumbs, garlic, onion, oregano, salt and pepper. Mix well, add 1/4 cup of feta from the Salad Savors, mix and make 5 equal patties, not too thick so they cook in the center.
  • Refrigerate until ready to cook.
  • In a medium bowl combine the cucumber, tomato, red onion, SaladSavors, vinegar, salt and remaining Feta. Mix well.
  • To cook indoors: Heat a large nonstick skillet on high heat. When hot, lightly spray oil. Add burgers to the pan and reduce the heat to low. Cook on one side until browned, then flip. Flip over a few times to prevent burning and to make sure the burgers are cooked all the way through.
  • If grilling: Clean grill well before cooking and oil the grates generously to prevent sticking. Cook the burgers on medium heat about 5 minutes on each side, or until no longer pink in the center.
  • To serve, place the burger on a dish and top with 2/3 cup of salad.

  1. This is a staple in our house 🙂 I’ve done them as burgers and even baked them as meatballs. I leave the feta out of the burgers and add it on top for those who like feta. We love adding tzaziki and doubling the salad!

  2. Delicious!! Served with oven roasted carrots, green beans, and baby bellas as sides. I did cheat and add a spoonful of sour cream to the salad. I think this will go down in our favorites.

Huge win!!!  Thank you for sharing this recipe with us ! My girls and I prepared these for dinner last night and we just could not get enough! Best turkey burgers we’ve ever had, ever! My 2 and 4 year old girls raved about them and are now eating them cold for breakfast Lol! We are going to make a bunch and freeze them later today.  We added fresh dill and used gluten free breadcrumb and pan fried them in evoo then finished in the oven at 425, yum! So, so delicious!!!

  4. I like to use balsamic vinegar in place of the red wine vinegar. Makes for a delicious dressing for the salad compliments the olives and has a mellow yest flavourful zing.

  5. It was delicious! These turkey burgers stayed together more than other ones I’ve made. The zucchini added a delicious flavor. I did find them to be a little dry. I’m not sure this is an issue with the recipe or me. I cooked them on the grill and maybe overcooked a few patties causing the dryness. Still, they were delicious!

  6. These sound amazing! Would I be able to use an alternative to bread crumbs or would you just leave them out altogether?

These are sooo delicious!  Best turkey burger ever and enjoyed the fresh tasting salad with it. I’ve tried other turkey burger recipes but this is by far the best and so moist and flavorful.

    Thank you!

Fantastic! I have made these before and they are great – I forgot the squeeze the zucchini and I think they turned out even better. Yum!

  9. These were a total hit with the family!  Great presentation too. To quote my husband, “this was the best turkey burger I’ve ever had” and my teenager agreed!
Awesome, as usual.  I recommend making them as is first before modifying. They’re that good!

  10. This recipe is absolutely fantastic! I added avocado to the salad. I will definitely be making it again!

This was delicious.  I will make it again.  A question: Where can I buy Salad Savors?  Are these in a refrigerated section of grocery?  Couldn’t find them anywhere.  Could you post a pic?

  12. This burger is seriously delicious!  I took the liberty of placing our burgers on low carb lightly grilled WW burger buns, in order to satisfy my hungry family.  I greatly increased the salad ingredients, & served this terrific salad on the side.  One issue:  pre-shredded cheese (of any kind) contains a product which keeps the cheese from clumping together in the pkg., so WHY buy that, since it takes only a few seconds to crumble your own PURE cheese?   Just sayin’…..

Made these for the first time tonight. Delicious! The zucchini made them extra moist. I cooked them on my grill, but I see another review did them in an air fryer. I will probably try that next time. Thanks for a great recipe!
