These These Buffalo Turkey Cheeseburger with Blue Cheese Broccoli Slaw are modified from my zucchini turkey burger recipe and slathered in hot sauce after. They are mildly spicy and loaded with flavor. I love adding veggies to my burgers, they add bulk and also make them more tender. Here I added carrots, but I promise, you can’t even tell. Perfect way to get those picky kids to eat their veggies.

Buffalo Turkey Burger Variations and Tips

  1. These were absolutely DE-LICIOUS!! I’ve made turkey burgers before but I will definitely make these in the future. I omitted the carrots but followed the rest of the recipe (making a substitution for the whole wheat breadcrumbs and just used regular seasoned breadcrumbs and adjusted the points). I still have some broccoli slaw left, I’m a huge fan of blue cheese. Thanks so much…looking forward to dinner again tonight, lol!

  2. I made these in a rush, omitted the garlic and forgot the cheddar and they were still amazing.  I still have broccoli slaw and blue cheese dressing to use up so I’ve decided to make them again tomorrow night.  These.  Are.  Amazing.  Thank you Gina!!

  3. Sooooo good!! I followed the recipe very closely and my whole family loved it!

  4. These sound delicious! My hi husband is not a fan of carrots. Any suggestions for an alternative, or has anyone omitted them with success? We love the zucchini turkey burgers, so I was thinking of using that instead.

  5. This recipe caught my eye a while ago, so this is how I made them to suit my family:   First of all, I want to say that the Blue Cheese Dressing recipe is amazing!  I always make my own WW Breadcrumbs by using leftover WW bread which I dry, then pulse in the food processor & add dried herbs.  I’m NOT a fan of Frank’s hot sauce, b/c it’s incredibly high in sodium, so I then left out the added salt which was in this recipe.  We grilled the insides of the buns, to give the buns a bit more flavor & texture (since buns tend to ‘wilt’ when hot burgers are placed on them).  I’m not criticizing Gina’s recipe, just offering a few suggestions.

  6. Where do you buy whole wheat bread crumbs?? The only ones I see are Panko whole wheat Japanese bread crumbs but they are not seasoned.

  7. Looks yummy. Can’t I use gF breadcrumbs instead of oats? Wasn’t sure if there was a reason you chose oats.  Tnx 🙂

  8. One of my favorite meals. I’ve been making this for years but never left a review. This is a filling meal for me. I usually can’t finish the burger. The combo is perfect! I use a gluten free bun and gluten free breadcrumbs. Works out great!

  9. These were delicious! We grilled the burgers and topped them with shredded lettuce and Bolthouse Blue Cheese dressing because it is what I had on hand. I would definitely do these again!

  10. We loved this recipe! Always looking for another good turkey burger. I accidentally used schiracha sauce instead of Franks hot sauce and they were delicious! Not too spicy, just right! I had a coleslaw mix so used it instead of broccoli slaw and a bottled blue cheese yogurt dressing found in the refrigerated section of our local supermarket.

  11. If I wanted to bake these in the oven, what would be the temp/time? Thank you!

  12. These are delicious! I don’t care for blue cheese, so I used light ranch dressing instead.  Really enjoyed this – thank you!

  13. These were very good!

  14. Do you have points  total with no buns ?

  15. Where are the points coming from, specifically with regard to the Blue plan? My guess is it’s the bun, but I’d love to know for sure. I ♥️ buffalo chicken, so this sounds delicious!

  16. I SWEAR THE BEST TURKEY BURGERS I’VE EVER MADE!! Sometimes I substitute the broccoli slaw for avocado slices-delicious!!! Thanks so much for this tasty recipe!!!

  17. Absolutely delicious‼️

  18. Another great recipe Gina! For some reason, I can’t pull up the recipe for the homemade blue cheese dressing.. I used Wishbone Light Blue Cheese Dressing. 0 points. This was great, as are all the recipes I have tried on your sight!

  19. We are not a hot & spicy food kind of family, so I cut the hot sauce by 1/2 and left off the slaw & dressing for all burgers but mine. I also thought this could be a bust with my kids (aged 10 & 13) because of their level of pickiness. However, I’m SUPER happy to say that this recipe was a hit! (Every recipe of yours that I have tried has been a hit.) Even my non-poultry-loving spouse loved this burger. Everyone loved this burger & I loved the slaw & homemade blue cheese dressing with it.

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your recipes, especially with ww points, and your meal plans. You’ve revolutionized the way I cook & my (smaller) waistline and healthier heart thanks you!

  20. I don’t think I’ve ever left a comment about a recipe before, but these were really great. We didn’t even end up using cheese! I actually found a greek yogurt based blue cheese dressing at Mariano’s (grocery store) for $3.99 which was cheaper than gathering all the ingredients separately to make my own. It was just 60 calories a serving and tasted great. I’ll definitely be making these again.

  21. Beyond delicious and so satisfying!

  22. These are crazy good. After making them for the third time in as many months, I thought I should come here and let you know. 🙂 The first couple times I made them, I grilled them on the BBQ, and they were good but maybe a tad dry. I made them last night in a skillet and I think it made a huge difference – they retained much more juiciness that way. I am obsessed with Frank’s Red Hot sauce, so I kept the bottle nearby and shook a couple drops onto each bite as I ate it. 🙂 My grocery store had pre-made, bagged broccoli slaw so that was easy – just mixed with light blue cheese dressing. I’m looking forward to leftovers tonight!

  23. These burgers and blue cheese slaw were delicious. All the flavors including the cheddar cheese make this dinner a huge hit.
Totally recommend this whole dinner and I don’t even like blue cheese.

  25. Wow! Absolutely delicious! I have to be honest – my expectations for this recipe were pretty low. I thought, “It’s too easy!!!! Turkey, hot sauce, breadcrumbs?… psh!!!”
But holy cow was I wrong! The burger was so juicy and flavorful, I kept saying, “OMG this is amazing” after every bite.
First: I think I’ll be adding shredded carrots to every burger recipe from here to eternity.
Second: The 1/4 cup of hot sauce was spot on. I like a little more heat to my food, so I added a wee bit more to the bun and was over the moon. My hubs on the other hand didn’t add any to his and was still happy with the flavor.
Third: I used Boathouse blue cheese dressing and it was absolutely perfect.
This baby is going in the rotation for sure. Trust me, you wanna make this one.

  26. I made these last night! WOW, and I am NOT usually a fan of turkey. I was pleasantly surprised. But the best part was the blue cheese dressing! OMG TO DIE FOR!

I did tweak it a bit; my store was out of broccoli slaw, so I skipped that, left the cheddar off, and just topped the burger with the dressing. And I’m thrilled to also have found buns that taste good, but aren’t that “pointy”

  27. Any ideas on how to cook the turkey burgers in the air fryer? I just got one and I’m obsessed!

  28. How many points would these be if I used one of the bagels that is on your website instead of the roll? I’m on Freestyle Thank you Kim

  30. Is there a recipe for the broccoli slaw somewhere? I searched it on the site but can’t find it!

  31. Great! Turkey burgers can be pretty dry, this was not and such a treat… I love this recipe!

  32. Do the calories include the bun as well?

  33. I didn’t have enough ground turkey, so I used some italian chicken sausage and the mixture was really good too. This is one of my favorite go-to recipes!

  34. These were absolutely delicious and so easy to make! What a great flavor combination and they stay so moist. I will definitely be making these again!

  42. How can I subtract the cheese and the bun from the smart pts? Thanks!!!

  43. Everyone loved these burgers!! It was a home run!! Thanks for sharing

  44. I made these for dinner last night, substituted cabbage from our garden for the broccoli slaw, aside from that followed the recipe exactly. Wonderful, filling dinner! Definitely doing this again! But I used 11 weight watcher plus points.. Not the 6 the recipe suggests. I arrived at 11 by adding all the individual ingredients (blue cheese crumbles, yogurt, etc)

  45. I love your recipes! Made these for dinner tonight and lived them! Thank you for keeping me on track with healthy recipes that are wonderful!!!

  46. has anyone tried making these with blue cheese IN the burger?

  47. I just made these and they were absolutely delightful! I was a little skeptical, but I was proven wrong quickly! Next time I will add more Red Hot as I LOOOVE Red Hot! Thanks for another delicious meal idea!

  48. I made these tonight and they were amazing! I love your recipes! As a weight watcher it is so great to know I can come here anytime and find something that won't break my points and tastes delicious!

  49. Amazing. Just made the patties–used 2 tbsp sriacha and only 1/4 cup crumbs. Did them on BBQ on a layer of tinfoil. Delicious. Made 5 patties and they were 123 calories each, without the toppings…amazingly low for burgers, and delicious. The carrot kept them moist. My daughter added them to her top 10 list! Thank you!

  50. Made these last week, they were amazing; used OPA brand blue cheese dressing, which is a greek yogurt-based, low fat dressing. Followed the recipe exactly and it made 6 HUGE burgers, (not complaining!). My teenage son ate one cold for breakfast the next morning!! Thanks for a great recipe.

  51. Made these last night and they were AMAZING!! I've been looking for ways to spice up a boring turkey burger! This recipe was perfect. And the slaw was a great touch as well!

  52. Made these last night. The burgers were really good. We only used about half of the hot sauce it called for. Too much for us! I will say that the burgers took longer than 4 minutes per side to cook all the way through. I ended up tenting them with tin foil to get them to cook through. The broccoli slaw we were not a big fam of. Too tart and tasted too much of the blue cheese. Would need to fina substitue. Overall I would make these burgers again minus the slaw.

  53. This was amazing!!! My husband loved it and so did my 2 year old daughter (shes such a picky eater and hates most meat!) This is one I will keep in my recipe drawer 🙂

  54. Nice post. Making the bun yourself might be healthier, but it takes more time. Thanks for posting.

  55. I've had many turkey burgers in my day but these are the best! Even the boyfriend approved. Thanks, Gina! Another Skinnytaste success!

  56. I made these last night and the hubby and I loved them! I do wish I'd read all of the comments before I cooked them, as I would have reserved a couple of portions for the kids BEFORE adding the Frank's hot sauce. They were WAY too hot for me to even give the kids, but that's what hot dogs are for! 🙂 Another keeper Gina, thank you!

  57. Will be making this for dinner tonight! Looks delicious!

  58. There was a question asked about a year ago and I don't know if it was answered and I just missed it, but can you use ground chicken instead of turkey? And thanks for all of the great recipes! I can't believe it took me so long to find your site! I've been on WW on and off for years after having my kids and it's the best site ever! Hope to see you around the 'hood one day soon!

  59. Hello skinnytaste! writing all the way from australia!! I must say – i have been using your site for a few months now for healthy dinner options and i am absolutely loving everything i have tried thus far! no disappointments!! i made these burgers last night (without the slaw because i think turkey burgers was enough of a shocker for the men in my life to make them eat broccoli coleslaw as well!!). i doubled the recipe (10 burgers…hungry boys) and fed them to my partner and his best mate, both of which swore up and down that they would never eat a non-beef burger. My partner came back for seconds and made sure i packed the leftovers for his lunch, and his best mate went back for thirds. amazing burgers! thanks so much for this recipe…im sure it will be on our summer nights list many many many times over!!

  60. I made these for my picky husband last night and he LOVED THEM! I enjoy recipes where I can hide onions in, because he's not a fan. I also made your homemade blue cheese, which I loved… hubby was scared to try it, his loss! Will be making these on a regular basis 🙂

  61. Unbelievably good and so easy to make. Only change I made was using Boathouse Yogurt Ranch dressing for Slaw because I am not a fan of Bleu Cheese. I strongly suggest everyone make this recipe – and def make a double batch 😉

  62. My house loves this recipe. I have made them 3 times and my 5 year old eats a normal sized one all gone and is asking for more.

  63. My house loves this recipe. I have made them 3 times and my 5 year old eats a normal sized one all gone and is asking for more.

  64. is there something I can sub for the blue cheese sauce? ick lol

  65. This is the best turkey burger recipe I have ever made! I live alone so I made 2 (one for today, one for tomorrow) and froze 3! I doubled the onion and garlic, and used low fat blue cheese yogurt dressing for the slaw to save some money and skip steps. Worked out well!

Thanks for this recipe! I'm sure my frozen patties won't be in the freezer too long 🙂

  66. These are INCREDIBLE! One of our absolute faves. However, no matter what I do, the burgers crumble and fall apart. I put them in the fridge last night for an hour after mixing – it helped some, but a few still crumbled. Anyone have any ideas? Does this happen to you?

    • this does not happen for me…try lessening the amount of breadcrumbs? i used just under the required amount with no dramas!

  67. My family isn't a fan of ground turkey BUT my son took one bite and said "Is there more?"

  68. This isn't only the best turkey burger I've had, it's one of THE BEST BURGERS I have had! If you're afraid of it being too spicy, don't be! I do not do spicy at all and this wasn't very spicy. It is SO moist and juicy…we absolutely loved it.

Thanks for another hit recipe Gina!

  69. These look like the best turkey burgers ever! Cannot wait to try…and so perfect for this time of year. Keep the awesomeness coming!

  70. Just made these last night on the grill and they were delicious! I love the idea of using shredded carrots in the mixture. My picky boyfriend even gave his seal of approval! Thanks for another great recipe Gina!

  71. We eat these a lot, my family loves them! I usually serve them without the bun and add more of the broccoli slaw. So yummy!

  73. Gina, I have been following your blog for about a month now. I decided back in February to adjust to a healthier, whole food, lifestyle. Your blog has been a God-Send!! I am so thankful for what you have done here. I was sitting here, eating a turkey burger tonight, and I just kept thinking, "There's no way this is under 400 calories." You have done something great here, and with your recipes and suggestions on your site, you have helped me to turn my life around. In about 2 months, I have lost a significant amount of weight, and you can accept at least part of the "blame".

Thank you so much for everything you do. You and your recipes have changed my life. I am healthier than I have ever been, I have more energy, and can enjoy life again. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. You should be proud.

    Daniel Moss

  74. Love this idea – we are burger (and buffalo sauce) fans so this is right up our alley. I like your idea of adding veggies to meat to increase vegetable intake – I'm guessing zucchini would be another good addition that would not be too overwhelming.

  77. These are my fiance's and I's favorite meal!! They are so moist and the Frank's gives them great flavor!! They have become a weekly staple in our house 🙂

  78. OMG looks so good! I love turkey burgers so I will definitely have to try this one

  79. Made these today, very tasty, but I should have made mine smaller, they are also very filling.

  80. These were amazing. To save some time I just bought the carrots shredded and used Bolthouse yogurt blue cheese with the broccoli slaw (same calorie-wise) and the whole meal was just perfect. The boyfriend ate two.

  81. So delicious! I love spicy foods and have a hard time eating healthy. This burger gives just enough kick and at less than 400 calories you've won me over. Wowzer!

  82. These were AMAZING! I made a couple for my kids before I added the buffalo sauce (2.5 & 5-not into spicy yet!) And added the hot sauce for us–hubby and I LOVED it! The BC dressing and slaw are equally amazing! Thx for ANOTHER craveable recipe!!! I added a celery stalk to the food processor w the carrots (that whole wings w BC dressing and celery sticks thing). Delish!

  83. These were fabulous! Made them for the 49r playoff game. My husband's comment, "you hit it out of the park". I think he has his sports games confused. Served them with your sweet potato fries. Yum!! Thank you.

  84. First off- how ingenious to hide carrots in the burgers?! Second- my husband said these were the best burgers he has ever had. I used what I had on hand and so I made a couple of changes. Did 1/2 lean ground beef and 1/2 turkey, used BBQ sauce instead of hot sauce, and added sauteed onions to the burger. Absolutely delish.

  85. Made these last night for a Cotton Bowl Watch Party! Everyone loved them! (Even the people that said they hate "turkey burgers!")

Nice to keep on a healthy path and still enjoy "gameday foods!"

  86. These are our go-to meal pretty much every time we feel like firing up the grill. My hubby loves wings and this gets him his fix without all the fried fatty-ness. And I LOVE how many veggies are used in it. So so good!

  87. Made these tonight, and they were delicious! The husband loved them too, and couldn't believe the slaw was made of broccoli.

I made the blue cheese dressing as well, and had to sub red wine vinegar for white, and it still tasted great, better than any light versions I've bought before.

Thanks Gina, your recipes are worthy of making for the first time when company is coming over, and that says a lot! Love your blog.

  88. These were amazing. Definitely a recipe to repeat.

  89. Hands down the best turkey burger recipe that I've ever made…ever!

  90. I typically try to follow recipes step-by-step the first time I make them, then I'll make adjustments the next few times. This is the third recipe I've tried from Gina, and I wouldn't change a single thing on all three of them. These burgers were delicious! Great flavor from the hot sauce and the onions and carrots kept the meat moist (which can be difficult with ground turkey). The broccoli slaw gave a really great crunch and added a nice texture. I'd make these over and over!

  91. I love turkey burgers, and I'm thrilled with your idea to add carrots into the patties. I never would have thought of that. I also love your broccoli slaw! Great recipe!

  92. These burgers are AMAZING, but they really fall apart and stick to the grill (no matter how much non-stick spray I use). Any tips? Does this happen to anyone else?

  93. When you freeze your extra patties uncooked, do you thaw them before cooking? My kids LOVE these burgers….I've made this recipe several times and portion out a few patties before I add the hot sauce in. 😉

  94. These are great! My only issue I had was I couldn't get it "buffaloy" enough. I might try the extra hot Frank's next time. Also, I really want to try this as a meatloaf in the fall with chunks of blue cheese throughout.

  95. OH MAN!!! SO GOOD! I made these last night. Omitted the carrots simply because I didn't have any, and upped the onion and garlic a bit, using egg whites to bind it all together. It was soooo tasty! My mother in-law loved the slaw and asked for the entire recipe! TY Gina! This is a winner.

  96. LOVED this … it was my first time making and eating a Turkey burger (they always looked so bland to me until this one) and i love anything Buffalo .. it was AMAZINGLY GOOD … thank you … will def be making them again

  97. Do you have the calorie count for just the buns and the burger? I'm not a huge fan of the brocoli slaw&blue cheese. Made it the other day like that and it was delicious just not sure how many calories it is!

  98. Made these yesterday and they were yummy 🙂
Worried about finding substitute for Franks sauce in the UK, but Asda now sell it so it was full steam ahead.
You must try them, they taste so good. Thanks for another amazing recipe.

  99. These were sooo delicious!! As always, your recipes are amazing! 🙂

  100. I thought these were going to be just okay as I tried to make them on a George Foreman, and they burned a little. HOWEVER…they were amazing! I added some extra Franks on the bun, as I like my food spicy. My husband reported that they were just okay, but he's pretty hard to get a "good" out of. My 3 year old wolfed his down too. I didn't give him the coleslaw or extra Franks, rather ketchup.

  101. These are fantastic! I made them before going camping for the weekend – my husband absolutely LOVED them!

  102. I was skeptical but after one taste I was a believer! These burgers were amazing!

  103. Just made these for the second time. Just fabulous.

  104. Forgot to say, I love it when you are at the grocery right after they mark down the meat with the next day's date on it. Last week I got 5 3-lb packages of ground turkey marked down 50%, to 3.49 each!

  105. Can't wait to try these. I know my husband will absolutely love them, too.

For those wondering about the broccoli slaw — I only recently discovered it after my aunt told me she had been using it in her salads. I started doing it too — gives a salad a new texture and crunch, not just boring lettuce, and I really don't think it even tastes like broccoli.

  106. YUMMY! I haven't made a recipe yet off this site that I didn't like! Thank you so much, Gina! You rock!!!!

  107. My store doesn't carry broccoli slaw (or whole wheat bread crumbs for that matter 🙁 ) I bought coleslaw instead. Was there a reason you chose broccoli slaw in terms of calories/health- I'm thinking that it shouldn't affect the points value since everything is made from vegetables but wanted to make sure.

  108. I just made these burgers for my family and they were a HIT! We are trying to get on the healthy train after years of not doing so well, and we couldn't even tell the difference! These are definitely going on our favorite go-to foods list. Thanks!

  109. I made made buffalo turkey burgers last week (with pre-made, frozen turkey burgers, just sprinkling the franks red hot on top while cooking) and then melting bleu cheese on the top. I can't wait to try these homemade burgers, though, they sound amazing!!

  110. If these were frozen raw, is it necessary to thaw them before cooking?

  111. Gina,

I really enjoy your recipes. I made this yesterday and both my 4 year old son and I enjoyed it! The flavors were great. I added a small amount of Frank's hot sauce since I didn't want it spicy for my son. Next time I will make 2 batches because I do like a little kick in my food. Also I was not able to find brocolli slaw anywhere so I just used regular cole slaw and it was delicious!

  112. These were so delicious! My boyfriend and I gobbled them up and I can't to make my leftover frozen one this week! They were ridiculously easy to make. I can't handle a lot of spice and these were perfect as is. Thank you Gina!!

  113. Made these this weekend with ground chicken and they were absolutely delicious! So many times I can't taste the hot sauce in the buffalo type dishes, but in these it was perfect!

  114. I just realized that I accidentally made these with ground chicken instead of turkey (picked up the wrong one). Should I re-make them or will it taste similar?

  115. I made these burgers last week and they were wonderful! Only change was I used regular coleslaw mixed light ranch and it was great! My three year old said "mommy I love these spicy burgers!" Will make again!

  116. This recipe sounds amazing.
    Thanks,

  117. Loved these! I only had Sriracha sauce in the fridge. Wasn't sure if that was similar to Frank's Hot Sauce so I decided to cut the quantity in half and add some Chipolte grilling sauce for the other half. Delcious! Just the perfect amount of kick. I topped with light mayo cut with dijon because I didn't have brocoli slaw on hand. My husband and I each lost 10lbs since January following your recipes. We are at our healthy goal weight now and am enjoying maintaing it with your inspiring recipes!

  118. Wow!!! These were AMAZING!!! And my husband loved them too! Great, healthy recipe! Love this blog!

  119. Gina,
I am allergic to Turkey and I don't like Bleu cheese. Also, I don't really like burgers, and my husband hates rolls. Can I make this with beef, into a meatloaf and put ranch dressing on it?
Some people's comments and questions really crack me up.

If you don't eat certain things, make the necessary substitutions, or just don't make the recipe!

  120. I made these last night and all I can is they are freakin' amazing! The blue cheese dressing is fantastic too! This has become an instant favorite!
A friend recently introduced me to your blog (three of us started Weight Watchers a few weeks ago) and I'm so excited to try everything out!

  121. What type of whole wheat seasoned bread crumbs do you use?

  122. These are good!!! Added a little franks hot sauce on top of the burger as well. Yum.

  123. OMG
    Holy cow!!!!
My family flipped over this!!! They absolutely loved it. The teenager loved it, hubby loved it and I made one sans hot sauce for my 5 year old and he said it was the best burger in the world. I can RARELY get him to eat any meat at all! You are fabulous. You should be famous!

  124. I LOVE THIS ONE!!! I plan and shop for meals two weeks at a time and 90% of the time, they are your recipes. You make it so easy to cook healthy and flavorful dishes that my husband and kids LOVE. Left the hot sauce out of some of the meat so it wouldn't be too spicy for the little ones but they gobbled their "hamburger cheese" up!!!

  125. i love patties that are home made. thanks for the recipe. i love it! 😀

  126. I brought your website up with the intention of looking for another recipe but got distracted and left the room – my husband came in and saw these on the main page and was like "PLEASE MAKE THEM FOR ME" so I did. And they were soooo good!

  127. Made this on Friday night. HUGE hit with the boys. Thanks Gina.

  128. Made this last night, with rave reviews by all. Yet another winner. Gina, you are my guru. Truly.

  129. This looks amazing. It is my goal to make this recipe soon! It looks sooo good.

  130. My boyfriend and I don't always agree on food… I was surprised to find the only thing he wasn't fond of with these burgers was the carrots! I can work with that.

Thank you so much. This has been happily added to my "keepers" recipes.

  131. I made this last night for dinner, absolutely delicious!!!! I even made your blue cheese dressing. My husband loved it as well. I will most definitely be making these again!

  132. I am sooo making these for Memorial Day weekend! They sound AMAZING!
    www.poolovesboo.blogspot.com

  133. My husband is a big fan of anything with hot sauce so I made this over the weekend, minus the broccoli slaw. They turned out AMAZING! They were far from dry like regular turkey burgers usually turn out for me. Not sure if it was because of the carrots or the hot sauce or both. This recipe is def. a keeper!!

  134. Made these yesterday for a bbq and everyone loved them, they were a hit!

  135. I made these tonight minus the cheese and they were awesome!! I, of course, added extra Frank's on top of my burger since I like some good spice. I will definitely make these again!

  136. Looks tasty; I know a place that adds avocado to their turkey burger sliders to keep them moist, but the carrots and onion will keep the cost and the fat down.

  137. I love spicy foods so this burger is definitely one I want to try.

  138. I wish you would stop making such a surplus of meat dishes. Its bad for both me and the environment, not to even mention my pocketbook

    • You can click on vegetarian or vegan at the right to find recipes you might like. How about starting your own skinny vegetarian recipe blog? people would love it, too!

    • then dont look your just ignorant so go find a different blog to bother

    • Wow, OP. Could you be any ruder? Gina works hard on this site, and is kind enough to post great recipes that she doesn't charge us for, like other sites would. Maybe you should take yourself and your precious pocketbook elsewhere.

    • This "anonymous" person is obviously the same person that posts a negative/rude comment on almost every one of Gina's recipes.
OP – She posts a "surplus" of meat recipes because the majority of people DO eat meat. Secondly, how exactly is Turkey bad for us? That's a new one.
Just because you may not eat meat, doesn't mean the rest of us can't, and doesn't mean that everybody should cater to YOUR eating habits. I suggest you google "vegetarian recipes" and stop being so rude.
If there was a way to report your posts, I would.

    • P.S – Since when is eating meat bad for the environment? And why is it bad for your pocketbook? So it is cheaper to just eat vegetables? Funny, because produce is VERY expensive, yet I can buy a family back of chicken thighs or drumsticks for $6.

    • I love how you always have my back 🙂

    • Not bad for your pocketbook if you shop smart. Cooking at home and staying fit is cheaper than having health issues from being overweight. Thank you Gina for making it easy to stay healthy and cook GREAT meals!

  139. Broccoli slaw! That the lost genius idea. I just discovered your blog, and I really want to try All your recepies, so many are bookmarked. Have a nice day!

  140. We only make Turkey burgers in our house! my kids say they could win "Best Burger". I put shredded apple, finely chopped spinach, feta cheese, ground almonds, seasoned crumbs, an egg, green onions, and garlic.
My fave toppings are mashed avocado and hot banana peppers.
Thanks Gina for all your recipes!

  141. How many points will the burger be without the slaw. I'm not a find of any kind of slaw.

    Thanks!

    • Nevermind! I see you already posted it. This is why I love this site so much. You do an excellent job. Thanks for your har work.

  142. I made these for supper tonight – wonderful!! My only piece of advice, invest in good quality blue cheese for the blue cheese dressing. I went for the down low, on sale blue cheese and the flavor was not strong. My husband and I both loved this recipe! thanks!

  143. These burgers sounds delicious! That photo of the burger on the grill almost has me drooling. 😀

  144. Would Gluten Free Bread Crumbs work the same?

    • think about that question… they are bread crumbs aren't they? They should work. Also, assuming you can't eat gluten, you've most likely substituted gluten bread crumbs in other recipes.

    • It never hurts to ask – often the ratio isn't the same because due to whatever the crumbs are made of absorbency can differ.

  145. Do you purchase the seasoned breadcrumbs or make them yourself? If you do purchase them can you tell what brand you use?

  146. Generally I'm not a fan of turkey burgers, but I gave them a go last night and the flavor was excellent! I was also a bit skeptical about carrots in a burger, but I didn't even notice they were there. This is sure to become part of my regular rotation.

In NYC broccoli slaw isn't always readily available and the market I popped into had only regular coleslaw mix, so I purchased that instead. I was also lazy and bought reduced fat blue cheese dressing. The flavor did not suffer. Next time Greek yogurt and blue cheese is on sale, I'm giving your recipe a try.

  147. I made these for lunch today – AMAZING!!

  148. I made these last night, and they were so yummy! Supper easy, and tasty… Can't get a better meal than that! Thanks Gina for all your receipes! You have allowed me to enjoy cooking, and actually love what I cook!

  149. This burger looks amzing. Did anyone see the Grill This Not That segement on the today show this morning? I am scared to ever go out and order a burger again!

  150. I made these last night–really delicious. I used Bolthouse blue cheese dressing for the slaw (1 PP for 2 tbls!!!) and rather than buying the slaw, I made it myself in the food processor. Grilled the burgers, but they kinda fell apart. Any suggestions for next time? I'm thinking that pan-frying them would help…

  151. Hi
I love home made burgers and want to give making these a go, but can't get Franks Hot Sauce in the UK.

Do you know what I could use as a substitute?

    Thanks

    • I just bought some Frank's Red Hot on amazon.co.uk because I had the same issue. I had to buy 3 bottles, but I really like using on all sorts of things so it wasn't a problem. 🙂

  152. Gina… once again I would lick my computer screen if no-one was looking!!! LOL!!!

Will definitely be trying this one.

Thank you for all your efforts…. I was actually discussing your website with my WW leader last night.

    Take care xx

  153. GINA-
    THANK YOU SO MUCH.
This recipe looks so great. But ALL of your recipes are delicious.

By using your website and recipes, along with a new exercise routine, I have lost 30 pounds since January!

You have helped change my life just through your healthy and yummy recipes!

    THANK YOU!

  154. Im not sure what broccoli slaw is & I didn't see th recipe for it. Does anybody know what it is or iwhere I would fnd te recipe for it?

  155. hi…just wondering what the point value would be minus the slaw mixture?? i would still be keeping the bun and cheese though…you are amazing and i love all your recipes!

  156. These look delicious! I love sneaking vegetables into burgers, and adding Frank's hot sauce…you can't go wrong!

  157. This looks delicious. Wondering if this could be made with ground chicken instead?

P.S. I'm diabetic and have had to cut back on most of the foods I LOVE. Since my doctor and nutritionist told me to count carbs instead of sugar content, your recipes have been a Godsend. Thanks for this.

  158. Oh gosh, this looks so good!

  159. Made these for dinner last night. Outstanding. Can't wait for the leftovers at lunch.

  160. Love the fact that they are real juicy looking, they look amazingly good.

  161. Okay, since my husband makes THE best burgers and is particular about making them, but is also allergic to fins and feathers (don't ask!), I will be making these for myself when he is out of town! YUM!

  162. I cooked these last night – I added Frank's buffalo sauce instead of the hot sauce. They were great & the slaw was amazing!!

    • I was going to comment the same – Franks Wing sauce is what I use for anything "Buffalo". Slight distinction between it and the regular Frank's but OH so worth it!!

  163. Thanks for the gluten free idea. I never thought to use oats!

  164. this is a great idea, thanks gina!

  165. GINA!!!!!!!!! I totally had to change my meal plan and go to the store during my lunch hour when I saw this recipe! These were absolutely amazing! Not too spicy…just the right flavor! The only thing I changed was to add a little parsley to the meat before cooking. Thanks so much for all the wonderful recipes!

  166. You're killing me here, Gina! I'm working tonight and this looks soooo good, will definitely pin!

  167. Gina could you make this with buffalo meat instead of turkey? If so, what would the points be? I dont know the nutrtion facts of buffalo meat to compare. Thanks!

  168. Yum! I love a good buffalo sauce! This hamburger looks good, and adding carrots sounds especially fun!

  169. I'm not even a buffalo fan and this looks amazing! My husband would go nuts over these!! Awesome recipe Gina!

  170. This looks SO mouthwatering Gina!! I love healthy food thats satisfying and delicious (which is why this site is my go-to for many of my recipes!)

  171. Look yummy

  172. I love the way a reader comment turned into a whole new recipe and how you incorporated the shredded carrots into the burger meat. I bet the latter adds a lot of moisture and flavor.

  173. oh, I wish I thought of adding hot sauce to the mix. I just made your turkey zucchini burgers over the weekend. They were delicious as is, but this sounds even more amazing! Do you have a ranch dressing recipe? I'm not much of a fan blue cheese. thanks!

  174. Aaaand this goes on the menu for next week. (Single living – cook once, eat leftovers all week)

  175. Gina, will you marry me? I check your site everyday for the latest recipe, and you have yet to disappoint! Can't wait to take this recipe for a whirl. Thanks for "skinnying up" so many great recipes.

  176. NO LIE, I did a search on #skinnytaste for this exact thing on Monday! I'll be sure to use this recipe next time because lean ground turkey is so flavorless. Thanks, Gina!

    • funny!

    • I made this recipe last night and it was HANDS DOWN the most delicious, well-rounded meal I've made in a long time. Five patties were perfect for my starving husband (he gets home late after 2 jobs and working out) and me (1 w/bun, 1 w/out). The dressing was so good I added extra broccoli slaw to stretch it out so I could have it for lunch today. Thanks again- I would PAY to have access to your site, fyi. 🙂

  177. This will be great Gina, I have been making Buffalo Turkey burgers for 6 years now, my husband found a Rachel Ray recipe that is a hit at our house. Very similar to what you have here but celery is the veggie to mix it. Also it has grill seasoning and poultry seasoning in the patty as well. I'll make sure to try your Creamy Blue Cheese dressing + broccoli slaw next time we make them.

  178. What an excellent skinny burger recipe this is, Gina! They look just as mouthwatering as any beef burger I've ever seen. Thanks for sharing!

  179. I love this website! I've been feeding my "meat and potatoes" boyfriend your recipes and he doesn't even know we're eating healthy. A doc recently suggested I go gluten-free, something I've never paid attention to, so I'm even more grateful for your wonderful suggestions on adapting your recipes to be GF!

  180. Hi Gina, this recipe looks great! What is broccoli slaw? Do you buy it in a bag at the store?

    • Broccoli slaw can be bought in a bag in the produce section. It's normally where the shredded cabbage is for regular coleslaw and the lettuces. It's really good! (It also goes great to add a little crunch to fish tacos!)

  181. I love your turkey burger recipes. Ever since I started making recipes from your website, I've never used ground beef. And I've been getting creative about what vegetables to put into a turkey burger to make it more nutritious. Will definitely have to give this a try, but minus the 'slaw, but a huge fan of it.

  182. My kids aren't a huge fan of hot things but I love adding the veggies to the burgers and they never notice!

  183. I am not a buffalo flavor fan. But I am so making that slaw for your normal turkey burgers. What a great idea to change up our standard burgers. YUMMY!

  184. Great minds think alike! I made a Buffalo Chicken Burger a few weeks ago and your pics have my mouthwatering and me craving it all over again! You can never go wrong with the hot sauce blue cheese combo!
