Easy Chicken Parm Burgers Recipe

My family loves Chicken Parmesan, so these burgers are always a hit! Ready in less than 10 minutes your whole family will enjoy! I used preformed chicken patties, cooked them and topped them with my quick marinara sauce and melted mozzarella. Great on the grill or cook them indoors in a skillet.

If you want to skip the buns, serve them over zoodles instead.

What You’ll Need

These easy chicken burgers require just 4 ingredients.

  • Chicken burgers – You can certainly buy your own ground chicken and make the patties yourself but if you don’t feel like getting your hands dirty, the pre-formed patties are perfect.
  • Mozzarella cheese – I used part skim Alpine Lace.
  • Pomodora sauce – I always have homemade sauce on hand, it’s smart to make large batches of sauce to jar or freeze so you can whip up quick meals in a pinch. Of course, store bought jarred sauce would work as well.
  • Burger buns

How to Make Chicken Parm Burgers

These chicken parmesan burgers make a great lunch or dinner in a pinch because they’re ready in just 10 minutes!

  • Cook the burgers. Cook for chicken burgers for 3 to 5 minutes per side, until cooked through. Warm the sauce.
  • Assemble. Top each burger with cheese. Cover to melt, then transfer to the buns and top with the sauce. Enjoy!

Great idea to use chicken burgers. I had a few grilled chicken breasts left over in the fridge along with about a cup of pomodoro sauce from Saturday. Just added shredded mozzarella and into the microwave for about 2 min. Added to a bun and enjoyed a quick lunch!!

  2. This was awesome and everyone loved it but I think you might want to update your WW points. Blue and green are both listed at 10 points but that can’t be correct since chicken is 0 pts on blue but not 0 pts on green (blue should be lower in points than green). Also purple is NEVER higher in points than blue/green.

    1. The recipe calls for lean chicken and not extra lean. Therefore whether on the blue, purple or green plan, this will count as 4pts for 4oz of uncooked meat. Hope this helps!

  3. In college we had a Italian place on the food court, next to a sub place. When we were lucky, the Italian place would have chicken Parmesan and the popular thing was to get the sub place to make subs with the chicken parm. This seems like a much healthier (less messier) version of an old college fav!

  4. I've been making chicken burgers for years, but this was amazing. I especially love the pomodoro sauce. Wow! My taste buds popped. I have two picky eaters in my home (I pity their future wives), and they asked for seconds. I've started a cook book of recipes my two boy/men will eat and this will be included. Thank you, I'm going to try different recipes, slowly, to see if I can add to that recipe book.

Made these with Turkey burgers and they turned out great, and were perfect on whole wheat buns. Thanks for sharing!

  6. Trying yet another amazing recipe of yours tonight. Thank you so much for helping me stay on track with my wedding diet!

  7. So, just to be clear, if I have my portion without a roll, everything is the same except it's 5.8 g Carbs?

  8. My hubby LOVES this recipe I found on your site!!! One of our favorites! I do add sauteed onions to the sandwich. I did have my local butcher grind the chicken for me (it was breast meat only) and it was a little drier than the Purdue ground chicken I buy. But LOVE THIS!!!

  9. I made today for dinner and boy it was so good! I should have made more of the sauce! It makes the sandwich! YUM!
    Garlic Girl!

  10. I am going to try these tonight. I have made 25+ of your recipes. Basically 5 nights a week I use skinnytaste. I've done weight watchers a couple times and never found it as easy as I do with your help. Thank you. 12 lbs lost in one month!!! 🙂 YOU ARE THE BEST —Lindsey

  11. Just made these and they are fantastic! I had to make my own patties from ground chicken, italian spices and some italian bread crumbs. This is one of the best lunches I've made.

  12. This is perfect for this week! I have three tests and I needed to make something quick, healthy, and filling. I combined this with a salad and it was super delicious! Thanks Gina. 🙂

  13. Mmmmm….I was just looking for something that I could make with your onion rings for an easy weeknight meal. I think this is just the ticket! THANKS! 🙂

  14. Wonderful idea, my kids LOVED their "pizza burgers" I used ground chicken and just added Italian seasoning & salt and pepper. Pan fried and used bertolli jarred marinara sauce and wheat hamburger buns. KID PLEASER, quick and easy! These would make a great appetizer or party food if made slider size!

  15. Can I just say how much I LOVEEEE you site! I discovered it a couple weeks ago and have made about 20-30 recipes, LOVED them all, and am just working my way through your site! We have made these twice already! Thanks for all the great recipes!!

  16. This is the 7th recipe my husband and I have tried from your site. It is also the 7th recipe that has gone on our permanent "must make this again!" list!

You have satisfied this picky eater, and you have a reader for life!

I found them in the deli section of my supermarket. I'm always looking at bread labels.

  18. I have SUCH a hard time finding buns or rolls that are low in calories (110 cals). Where did you find yours, Gina? I have found soft, whole wheat rolls, but nothing ciabatta like.

  19. Was at my Trader Joe's today and picked up the pre-cooked chicken burgers. Made this for my lunch on a toasted sandwich thin. Yum! Thanks Gina!

Carol, I bet yours were fantastic!
Kristen, love the idea of stuffing them with cheese! I may do that next time myself. And I agree, ground chicken is not something I usually buy, I much prefer ground turkey to ground chicken.

  21. My grocery doesn't carry the premade burgers, so I made my own with ground chicken and spices. I stuffed mine with the mozzarella and put pizza sauce on top. YUMMY! Thanks, Gina. I never would have made "chicken burgers" without seeing this post.

  22. I made this as a low-cal alternative to chicken Parmesan with gluten free pasta and my husband and I both loved it. I could not find pre-packaged chicken burgers, so I used ground chicken, added fresh basil, oregano and parsley from my herb garden, as well as a pinch of salt and pepper and a half a handful of fresh grated Parmesan cheese. Grilled in my panini maker for 4 minutes and then finished under the broiler for a minute with sauce and cheese. I used Gina's marinara sauce recipe from her baked zucchini strips recipe—-Super Yummy meal!

  23. I made this last night and used the pre-cooked Trader Joe's chicken burgers you mentioned. Super easy and really tasty. Thanks!!

  24. We made these for dinner on the grill tonight (forming our own chicken patties and adding an egg, italian breadcrumbs and a bit of oregano), melted slices of fresh provolone and topping with jarred Tomato and Basil Pasta Sauce. Hubby bought a loaf of ciabatta so I sliced it in half lenghtwise and made my own buns. It was FAN-TASTIC!!

  25. mmm looks yum! do you have the pomodoro sauce recipe? and trader joes sweet potatoe fries would be excellent with it!!! =)

Carol- Use my turkey burger recipe with chicken instead!!

You can use sliced chicken, or make my baked chicken parmesan recipe instead!

  27. These look yum-a-licious!! 🙂 Any chance you have a recipe for using ground chicken instead of the pre-made patties?? Thanks!

Yes, I really don't like posting sodium because it will vary brand to brand, but it's a good estimate. Keep in mind the burgers were pre-seasoned so if you use chopped chicken, you should season it to your taste, salt, pepper, garlic powder, etc.

  29. I have not tried chicken in burgers before, but, your post inspires me to try them. I wonder about the salt content though. This seems high. Any thoughts on why??

Anonymous- Yes I actually love Boca Burgers! Would be a great vegetarian option! Click on the link for the pomodoro sauce recipe in the ingredients list.

  31. Hi!!! This is also amazing with Boca Burgers ….for all those who do not eat meat
However, the quinoa in the veg. burger is too strong and thus the cheese flavor was (in my opinion) quite weak.
So, next time, I will use low fat feta cheese …it does not melt, but it is too yummy.
OR goat cheese….it is soft and oh so heavenly.
    Thanks Gina !!!!
Question: How do you make your tomatoe sauce????
from scratch? or do you use caned/cubes
    Thanks !!!

  32. Yum! Like chicken parm without all of the fat. Thank you Gina. You are simply the best.
