A delicious low fat white bean chili recipe made with beans, turkey, and other ingredients. This can be made on the stove or in a crock pot. Makes great leftovers and tastes even better the next day for lunch!
My friend Debbie of Unfold Creative Invitations shared this recipe with me, which I modified a bit to suit my taste. This makes a lot, so you can freeze the leftovers. Easy and delicious, perfect for a chilly evening.

Hi Gina. I made this recipe last night for friends. It was a hit! The whole pot disappeared in about 40 minutes and everyone wanted the recipe!
ReplyDeleteI reduced the chili amount since it sounded like a lot and I wasn't sure how hot my guests would like their chili, and eyeballed the remaining spices. I added about 1/4 cup of grated into the chile too. Wow! It was amazing. My husband and neighbor said they like it better than regular chile and this picadillo I make. Not as heavy and very flavorful! Thanks for the recipe! Can't wait to try ALL of them!
This is so yummy!! I am not a big ground turkey fan and neither is my husband but we both LOVED this recipe!! thanks Gina!! =)
ReplyDeleteVery yummy recipe! My husband didn't believe it was WW's! =]
ReplyDeleteDelicious!!! Wow - didn't believe turkey would be some yummy in chili! Perfect for a cool, fall night! And it makes so much!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am getting ready to make this recipe and although we don't follow WWs, we do keep track of calories. Do you know approximately how many calories are in a serving of this chili?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
I substituted one can each of red kidney beans and black beans for two of the canellini beans in order to add a little color. Same general taste and it looks festive!
ReplyDeleteOh, it looks great - will definitely try that one - yum!
ReplyDelete@Wontabulous - It's in the supermarket next to the non dairy creamers and half and half.
ReplyDeleteHi Gina, love the site. I have two questions about the recipe, First, when you say 1 spray cooking oil, you are talking about non-stick cooking spray right? Second when you say lean ground turkey, do you use the 93/7 ground turkey or the 99% fat-free one which is often referred to as extra lean ground turkey? I just want to make sure I don't impact the points. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYUM!!! Can't wait I have ground turkey in my freezer :)
ReplyDeleteLove this recipe!! Made this last week and have been eating all week for lunch, last night my husband and I didn't feel like cooking so we put some on the stove to warm and added a little Rotel turned it into mexican white bean turkey chili....delish!
ReplyDeleteI'm actually going to a party tomorrow night and doing the same thing. I'm bringing this as a dip and adding some white cheddar and replacing the half and half with reduced fat cream cheese. Bringing chips to serve.
ReplyDeleteI have this simmering on my stovetop right now...smells amazing and my tastes have also been amazing!
ReplyDeleteDo you mind if I post this recipe on my own blog, with a link to your original?
Made this last week and LOVED it! Very Very tasty. I put in a couple more spoonfuls of Chili powder and a wee bit of cayenne (TX girl like it spicy) :) Definitely a big hit at our house.
ReplyDeleteThanks
@ Jessica, sure. Thanks for asking and linking back.
ReplyDelete@Jan, I like it spicy too!
This is delish! I've made it twice now only with ground chicken.. Would you happen to have the nutritional value of it? Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteHi Gina,
ReplyDeleteLove the recipes! I just made this tonight and I am transferring it from the stovetop after the step where you say to cook it for 10 minutes with the beans to the crockpot. I was wondering if you knew if I should cook it on low or high and how long do you think it should take in the crockpot? Thanks so much!
@Vanessa - I'm sure finishing it on low for 6 hours should be fine. Let me know how it comes out in the crock pot!
ReplyDeleteThis was great! I added a chopped tomato and a big handful of baby spinach to give it a little color and some more veggies - would definitely recommend it! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteA delicious recipe! Mine turned out a little soupier - I used a 1.25 lb pack of ground turkey, 1 onion, 2 cloves garlic, 3 cans beans, and about 1 and 1/2 cans chicken broth. I kept all of the other ingredients as listed above.
ReplyDeleteMy family loved it :)
Thanks so much Gina!
I am just getting started on weight watchers and I want to make this ... probably a silly question but is the garlic minced? Also, any big point difference w/ ground chicken v. turkey. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYes, minced. Sorry! If the chicken is lean, it won't be much of a difference. Maybe 1 pt more.
ReplyDeleteGina,
ReplyDeleteCan I use the chicken stock from your recent chicken stock recipe for the chicken broth in this White Bean Turkey chili recipe? Thanks! :)
You sure can Kassie!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog! The recipes all look so inviting and delicious...I plan on trying quite a few of them! Your pictures are beautiful, so excited I stumbled on your blog! I am listing it on my site
ReplyDelete@fulltime-mom.blogspot.com this is a site for mothers, Thanks!
Kristen
Wow, this is incredible...I only had 1 lb. of ground turkey, used 3 cans of beans, 1 1/2 c. broth and lessen the seasonings a bit. I keep finding gems of recipes on your site. Thank you so much. It really keeps me from straying off track with being on WW. Carrie
ReplyDeleteDon't stray!! This is great and makes great leftovers!
ReplyDeleteMade this tonight and it was fabulous. I loved the fat free half and half at the end...makes it more creamy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great recipe!
I love all of your recipes!!!!I'm so glad you make all kinds of food especially latin. Thank you.I was wondering if you could use navy beans in the white chili.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, navy beans work great as well. I use them for this all the time.
ReplyDeleteI followed the recipe exactly and this was so yummy even my picky mom who ordinarily doesn't like chili or food with a "kick" really enjoyed this!!! This was the perfect comfort food for the rainy days we have been having and so light I didn't even feel guilty for skipping the gym!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it Raquel! Perfect rainy day food!
ReplyDeleteGreat chili - I make it all the time! I like to mix up some of the beans too - adding a can of chickpeas is wonderful in this recipe!
ReplyDeleteChick peas are white so I think that's a great idea! I also make this with navy beans. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThis was really good and super easy to make, thanks Gina for another great recipe :)
ReplyDeleteThis was delish! Awesome my husband and my kids loved it.
ReplyDeletereally good! made a pot today, on our first "fall" day this year! I am so glad that I have some left over to freeze for awesome 4pt lunches!! thanks! you rock!
ReplyDeleteIt's perfect for the fall!!
ReplyDeleteThis was my first skinnytaste recipe and it was awesome! I made it a couple weeks ago for the first football Sunday of the season. I topped it with jalapenos, green onions, little shredded cheese and FF sour cream and it was fantastic. I dipped a couple tortilla chips in it like a dip as well. My friend couldn't believe it was "light"!
ReplyDeleteHappy you liked it Monica! So high in fiber too!! I love having this with chips!
ReplyDeleteI just started cooking and so far this is my favorite recipe. It wasn't hard to make at all! Love it!
ReplyDeleteMonica
Hi Gina! I made this for my husband and I last night and we both loved it! I count calories instead of points and I was hoping you might have insight on the calories.
ReplyDeleteThe ground turkey I used contains 160 calories per 4 ounces. If I ate a cup of the chili would 200-230 per cup be accurate? I've heard that ground meat is measured differently than liquids and 400 cal. seems high for one cup, so I thought I would check in with the master :)
My chili turned out really thick. I used the 3 lbs of turkey and the 2 cups of broth...it cooked down a little bit, but i ended up putting more broth in eventually. Is there something I missed?
ReplyDeleteThis was delicious! I are it with half of a string cheese(.5pts) and chips. Very filling.
ReplyDelete@Crystal, it's hard to say, maybe the flame was too high? Adding more liquid, even if it's just water is always the solution to fix it, which sounds like that is what you did.
ReplyDeleteYes, this is great with chips and a little cheese!
Gina, did you use 93/7 ground turkey or the 99% lean ground turkey? I was wondering which one the points were calculated with. I'm really excited to try this! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Angela, I used Jennie-O 99% lean. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteJust made this chili last night for dinner and it was amazing! Thanks so much for posting! =)
ReplyDeletehi.....i just finished making this..and i only used 2 lbs of ground turkey, so i wanted to figure out if it was less points! i was figuring (or trying to) out by ingredient, and it seems like 4 points is way too high for the amount of ingredients! i'm new to ww and just learning, so maybe i'm missing something. could you please help me and explain how you got the 4 point count. thank you! paula
ReplyDeleteps....i have made several of your recipes and they are wonderful!!
oops i meant to say that 4 points seemed too low! silly brain!
ReplyDeletepaula
Can this be done in a slow cooker? what would be the settings has anyone tried it in a slow cooker?
ReplyDeleteI see fat-free half and half mentioned in several posts, but the recipe only calls for FF sour cream at the end. Am I missing a step, or is the FF 1/2 & 1/2 a sub for the sour cream?
ReplyDeletecrystal- i have not tried it in the crock pot, but yes, beans are great in the crock pot.
ReplyDeleteYou could use ff half & half in place of sour cream if you wish, but I prefer to use sour cream instead.
I followed this recipe to a Tee and for some reason it only produced 10 cups instead of 14, which upped the points value. Not sure what the difference was. :(
ReplyDeleteVery Yummy!! One of my favorites so far on your site!
ReplyDeleteSince I will cook this for only myself. I want to cut the receipe in half. How many points would it be if I made half of it?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Monjor23
Points don't change per serving if you halve it, only the amount of servings change.
ReplyDeleteThis is now 5 points per cup.
ReplyDeleteI just ran through WW recipe builder and for 10 1 cup servings it is 6 points on the new plan.
ReplyDeleteMaking this tonight. The only thing I didn't have was the Canneli beans so my Hubby substituted dried beans that he cooked ahead of time. It smells yummy and can't wait to try it soon.
ReplyDeleteI made this for my last book club meeting along with Weight Watchers cornbread (made as muffins - it decreases the points/serving some; link here: http://www.weightwatchers.com/food/rcp/index.aspx?recipeid=66571). It was a hit. Everybody in the book club went back for seconds!
ReplyDeleteI was a little worried about the chili powder and red pepper flakes, because I have such a low tolerance for spiciness, but 2 tsp of each was perfect.
Made this last night and it was delicious! The seasoning, in combination with the sour cream topping, really made a difference. I decided to cook this using the crockpot and added some leftover turkey sausage links to the recipe - I only had about half of the turkey meat suggested for this recipe. Awesome chili - Thanks, Gina!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to try it in the crock pot next time!
ReplyDeleteI made this this afternoon after making a disasterous white bean chicken chili from a mix last week and it was DELISH!! I halved the recipe because I didn't need 14 servings, and everything came out perfectly. Thanks for another spot on phenomenal recipe!
ReplyDeleteFantastic Site. Im printing this recipe out to try. I have been looking all over for a good Turkey chili recipe. By the comments I am sure I have found it.
ReplyDeleteWould points change if I used chicken instead?
ReplyDeleteCatherine, I'm not sure, I would check on recipe builder.
ReplyDeleteI've been using your site for a few weeks now, and have not been disappointed yet! After this recipe though, I felt like I really needed to comment, because it was so delicious! I made it in the crock pot, so I think it reduced more than it was supposed to, and made less servings than expected, but the consistency was just right, so that is fine with me :)
ReplyDeleteI've shared your site with my WW meeting.
Thanks for sharing with your meeting Trish!
ReplyDeleteI added some celery and a can of green chillis just trying to get rid of them. It turned out great! I can't wait for my husband to get home and try it! Thanks. Love your site!
ReplyDeleteI have some left over turkey, can i use this instead of ground turkey?
ReplyDeleteIt won't taste the same, but I bet it will be good! Let me know!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if this recipe freezes well?
ReplyDeleteI made this about 2 weeks ago and we really enjoyed it, even in the dead of summer! It made just enough per serving to fill us up. Garnished with the lowfat sour cream and cheddar, a few sprigs of cilantro... yum!
ReplyDeleteI have frozen this and other recipes before. They don't look good when defrosted, but after heating and stirring they all come back together and taste wonderful!
Hi Gina,
ReplyDeleteLove your site! How long do you keep the soup in the crock pot? And do you cook it on high or low?
This isn't soup, are you talking about the right recipe?
ReplyDeleteI've been making this recipe (only with ground chicken) for about 2 years now and it is the most delish white chili I've ever had! My family LOVES it! Everyone who has it asks for the recipe! Thanks for a delish recipe!!!
ReplyDeleteMelisa S.
Just made this recipe tonight- DELICIOUS!!! Thank you so much for your site!!!:)
ReplyDeleteYour recipe says sour cream but after reading the comments it sounds like people are using half and half. Have you revised the recipe? I hope I can mix sour cream in it because that's what I bought. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSomething didn't turn out right for me :( I cut the recipe in half and used the two cans of beans and 1/2 can of broth and it was like I hadn't added any liquid. I ended up adding another 1 1/2 cans of broth and it is still pretty thick....now I am wondering if the seasonings need to be adjusted? This is the first recipe of yours that didn't turn out for me and I make at least one a week off of your site and have for the last 6 months or so..
ReplyDeleteI experienced the exact same thing. I cut the recipe in half, so only used 1 pkg of meat, 2 cans of beans and 1 cup of chicken broth. Before even cooking it all together, there was absolutely NO liquid in the pot, so I added the rest of the 1 can of broth. After it was cooking for awhile, all of the liquid was completely soaked up again, and I ended up adding a whole second can of chicken broth. In the end, it was still delicious, but still VERY VERY thick. Maybe something doesn't come out right if you cut the recipe in half (even though it should). But next time, I will make the whole recipe because it was THAT good and I'll just freeze the leftovers.
Delete(and FYI, the halved recipe only gives about five 1 cup servings and that is INCLUDING the whole extra can of broth that I used. So I'm guessing the full recipe would yield about ten 1 cup servings, and if the same holds true, would require about 4 cans of chicken broth for the correct consistency).
I was also curious about the FF half & half that was mentioned numerous times in previous comments. This recipe calls for sour cream, unless I'm missing something, or the original recipe was revised since then?
This is great. I substituted Coconut Creamer for the sour cream to make it dairy free. Couldn't tell the difference. Doesn't have a coconut flavor. Thanks for the great recipes!
ReplyDeleteVery bland, i followed the recipe to a T and even let it sit in the crockpot over night hoping the flavors would come out. No such luck :-/ Dousing it with sour cream, cheese and chips seems like the only way to save all this turkey! No to mention, you never said when or how long to pu they bay leaf in for.
ReplyDeletethis recipe is FAR from bland. It actually has tons of delicious flavor. Perhaps you measured something incorrectly. Also, while cooking, I'd suggest tasting it and seasoning accordingly. Sometimes, one person's idea of bland is different from the next. (And the recipe clearly says at the end to "adjust seasoning and salt to taste" once it is done cooking). So if you didn't do that, that's your mistake, not Gina's.
DeleteI also found this to be really bland, but we just mixed in a few spoonfuls of salsa and t made all the difference in the world.
ReplyDeleteHi Gina
ReplyDeleteLove your site and recipes! My husband bought garbanzo beans by mistake...do you think those will still work?
Thanks!
Leah in St. Paul
Started out really thick, but after letting it cook in the slow cooker I guess it really brought out the juices and flavors together, hence the happy ending :) Not sure if I missed it while reading the recipe, what to do with the bay leaf. This was my first time using one, but just dropped it along with everything else in the crockpot anyway. Thanks for keeping up this site, truly helped my husband and I manage our weight.
ReplyDeleteAlways toss it when you are done :)
DeleteHi Gina,
ReplyDeleteLast night I made your stuffed peppers with turkey, awesome! Everyone loved it. Now I am going to try this chili for a contest this weekend. Wish me luck!
Thanks for the great recipes.
Hi Gina,
ReplyDeleteI made this chili last night for a family gathering.
It was such a success, that my in-laws asked me if they could take the leftovers home with them!
Thank you for another delicious recipe!
Hi Gina! I am going to try this recipe next weekend and was wondering something. In your crock pot recipe, you use pumpkin puree. I do not have a crock pot, so is it possible to add the puree to this recipe? Would that work? Thoughts...? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove this recipe. Complex flavors, easy preparation and super stress-free clean up! I changed up the recipe a bit because cannellini beans were not available already prepared. I used 2 cans of regular kidney beans and 2 cans of great northern beans and it turned out perfect.
ReplyDeleteI found your website on a blog from a weight watcher leader. I have made meals from your sight ever since. The spinach chicken was so easy and good. I also made the balsamic flank steak with tomatoes and it was a hit. Tonight I made the white bean chili so it is ready for tomorrow and it is awesome! I think this is the best place for healthy and weight watcher meals. I have lost 65 pounds and this will get me to my goal. Thank you from the bottom of my healthy heart! Sue
ReplyDeleteI made this on Sunday to have for dinner all week. It is seriously my new favorite dish ever. You have such amazing recipes! THANK YOU. :)
ReplyDeleteI made this in the crock pot today and it was fantastic! I sauteed the onion and garlic and browned the meat then added the seasonings last night. I then chilled it. This morning I put it in the crock pot with the beans, bay leaf and broth and set it on low all day. I did have to add liquid to it as it cooks down a lot in the crock pot, I probably added about another cup of broth. I used two cans of white kidney beans, a can of garbanzo beans, and a can of navy beans. I a small amount of sour cream to each of our bowls and both my husband and I agreed that it wasn't essential and we could save a few calories without it. Thank you so much for posting such a great recipe! I can't wait to try another one!
ReplyDeleteLove skinnytaste and have made a lot of Gina's recipes. I made this last night and it was very dissappointing. I found it bland and will not make it again.
ReplyDeleteWould you be able to use lean ground beef with this recipe?
ReplyDeleteI thought it was good, a bit bland so I added a little can of green chillies. I also substituted the sour cream for a can of garbanzo beans which I pureed for some thickness (lack of sour cream could make the whole thing more bland). I will make again though.
ReplyDeleteI just made this and it's simmering now. Based on preliminary tastes I'm giving it two thumbs up! A trick I learned from a white bean recipe from years ago...as it's cooking smash some of the beans with a wooden spoon against the side of the pot. Makes it a little creamier. Been following WW since Sept and love your site!
ReplyDeleteHmm I think this recipe may need to be looked at again. I made it exactly as written and it was extremely thick and didn't have much taste. I added more chili powder, but then you could really only taste the heat. I'm currently trying to salvage it by adding in a few chipotle peppers in adobo, more broth, and a can of diced tomatoes. We'll see if that helps it.
ReplyDeleteI made this the other night & it turned out great. You just have to adjust the seasoning to your taste like she suggested. I added more cumin & basil. I will def make it again.
ReplyDeleteI added a can of white corn :)
ReplyDelete
