Apple Bread Recipe

I love to bake this easy apple bread and my crock pot applesauce after apple picking. Cinnamon and apples baking in the oven make my kitchen smell like fall. The warm spices, the sweetness of fresh apples, and the crunch of walnuts create a delightful bread that will put you in the fall spirit. It makes the perfect cozy breakfast treat or afternoon snack. More of my favorite ways to bake with apples include whole-grain apple nut muffins, apple cobbler, and classic apple crisp

The Best Apple Bread Recipe

Gina @ Skinnytaste.com

I’ve made this easy apple bread recipe for so many years, it my absolute favorite!! I love the extra sweetness and moisture the apple chunks add to the bread. Be sure to dice them small so they cook through. Here’s why you’ll have this quick bread recipe on repeat:

  • Great recipe if you go apple picking
  • A quick bread recipe like banana bread, so there’s no yeast
  • Lighter than most apple cake recipes, made with less fat and sugar
  • The perfect fall treat, your house will smell amazing

For another easy apple recipe, try these apple scones with creamy spiced glaze. I also love making homemade apple butter in the fall!

Apple Bread Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need to make this delicious homemade apple bread recipe. See the recipe card below for the exact measurements.

  • Apples – You can use any apples you like, but Honeycrisp and Gala are the best for baking since they’re naturally sweeter. You won’t have to add as much sugar. Pink Lady, Golden Delicious, Braeburn, and Granny Smith apples can also be used. For more texture, chop up a variety of apples for the batter.
  • Apple Marinade – Let the diced apples sit in a mixture of lemon juice, agave, and cinnamon to enhance their flavor. Granulated sugar can replace the agave.
  • Applesauce – I think this apple bread is so much better with homemade applesauce, so if you have lots of apples, check out my easy slow cooker applesauce recipe. If you buy pre-made, choose an unsweetened applesauce.
  • Flour – Use white whole wheat flour for extra protein and fiber. All-purpose flour will also work.
  • Brown Sugar – For sweetness, I have also tested this with monk fruit brown sugar with great success.
  • Baking Soda – Helps the bread rise. Make sure it’s not past its expiration date.
  • Spices and Extract – Cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and vanilla extract. You can replace the individual spices with apple pie spice or pumpkin pie spice.
  • Oil – The only fat in this bread is two tablespoons of vegetable oil.
  • Eggs – You’ll need two egg whites.
  • Nuts – Chop 1 ½ ounces of walnuts. Pecans would also taste great.

How to Make Apple Bread

Here’s the step-by-step recipe for this apple cinnamon bread. See the recipe card below for the exact measurements and printable instructions.

  1. Marinate the apples. Combine the apples, cinnamon, agave, and lemon juice in a medium bowl and set aside. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 350°F and spray a 9-x-5” loaf pan with baking spray.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients. Whisk the flour, baking soda, nutmeg, remaining cinnamon, allspice, and a pinch of salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Combine the wet ingredients. With a hand or stand mixer, beat the oil, egg whites, sugar, applesauce, and vanilla in a large mixing bowl at medium speed until thick. Scrape down the sides of the bowl.
  4. Make the batter. Pour the flour mixture into the wet ingredients and beat on low speed until combined. Be careful not to overmix the batter.
  5. Add the apples and nuts. Gently fold in the diced apples and walnuts.
  6. Bake. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake on the center rack at 350ºF for about 55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the pan cool for at least 20 minutes before slicing. If you cut it before the bread cools, it may fall apart.

Variations

  • Nuts: If you’re not a fan of nuts in your bread, omit them. You can also swap them for pecans or chocolate chips.
  • Oil: Substitute vegetable oil for canola or coconut oil.
  • Agave: Swap honey or maple syrup for agave.
  • Gluten-Free Bread: Substitute a gluten-free flour, like Cup4Cup.
  • Flour: If you don’t have white whole wheat flour, use all-purpose or regular whole wheat.
  • Muffins: Make apple muffins and bake them for 22 to 30 minutes. Check them with a toothpick to make sure they’re done.

How to Store Apple Bread

  • Store airtight. Store this moist applesauce bread in an airtight container on the counter for a day or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • Freeze. You can also keep it in the freezer for up to three months. To freeze, slice the loaf and wrap the pieces individually in aluminum foil or plastic wrap and store them in a large zip-locked bag. Thaw the slices in the refrigerator and warm in the microwave for about 30 seconds.

  1. While delicious, this bread is very dense. It hardly rose, and didn’t have the consistency I expected from a quick bread.

  2. So easy to make and it’s delicious. I doubled the recipe to make 2 loaves. Made per instructions with the only change being I used honey instead of agave. Will definitely make it again.

  3. Was very moist with the apples and applesauce. I used coconut oil and put extra walnuts on top. Everyone loved it!

  4. It’s in the oven as we speak. It was a lot of work – so I’m hoping hubby will enjoy. My only negative was deciphering the ingredients…if you move the applesauce and brown sugar down with the wet ingredients it would read better.

  5. I searched for an Apple recipe as I wanted a fall one, but wanted to switch it up from pumpkin. How have I never seen this recipe?! Just the right amount of sweetness. I didn’t make homemade applesauce but used unsweetened. It was delicious!! This will be on repeat!

This recipe is delicious! Made it this afternoon and it was divine, so moist and flavorful! Thank you Gina for making a recipe so delicious with only 2tbs of oil, and minimal sugar!

  7. Scrumptious and easy recipe, thank you! I made this for Rosh Hashanah and was so pleased with how it turned out. The cake is very moist and flavorful. I used Lakanto instead of sugar, added a second diced apple, and also a little boiled cider to amp up the apple flavor.

  8. Made this last week. My husband, daughter and son in law all loved it! I was the only one who knew it was a light recipe. It was gone in 24 hours!

  9. Hi Gina, we just made this recipe and absolutely loved it. I entered the ingredients into my meal tracker and the calories were a bit higher. I used regular apple sauce and regular brown sugar. Should I have used a no sugar added apple sauce and a brown sugar substitute like Splenda? Thanks for another great recipe.

      1. Thanks Gina! I just made the bread a second time! I switched to unsweetened applesauce and I realized I had entered the sugar into my tracker as packed sugar.

  10. I would love to use oat flour rather than wheat or regular. How much oat flour would I use as a substitute? Thank you!!! 🙂

  11. My husband is the baker in the family and he decided to make me something slightly healthier than his usual brownies and banana bread. It was delicious and not too sweet which is how I like my baked treats. I see a lot of Apple Bread in the future. Maybe next time he’ll make them as muffins.

  12. I made these into muffins. Flavor is awesome, but I found them to be a little dense; it’s possible I underbaked them, though a toothpick came out as clean. I used homemade chunky applesauce. Overall, I really enjoy these, just wish they were lighter and fluffier.

  13. Absolutely delicious!!! I only had AP flour, and didn’t use walnuts because of kiddos with nut allergies, but loved this bread!! And it was easy and so moist, didn’t taste “light”. Most definite do-again!

  14. Made exactly as written but used 2 whole eggs instead of just the whites. Delicious and very moist. It was done at about 44 min in my oven. Will def make again!

  15. Excellent! I made it as muffins, and since we can’t eat nuts I added blueberries. It made 14. This will be a staple in our house. I don’t know how to share a photo from my ipad, sadly.

  16. Did you mean one and a half ounces of walnuts? If yes, can you tell me about what portion of a cup that would be? Thank you.

      1. I made it with gluten free flour. It was heavy and wet! I don’t usually bake gluten free so don’t know if this is normal or not!

Has anyone tried to make this with a low carb flour? Like almond, coconut or oat flour? Or a combination of a few different ones. I know they all have different properties. This looks so tasty if I could just make it with a healthier flour.. thanks

    1. I just asked the same question. 🙂 Hopefully we get an answer. 🙂 The conversion for oat flour is 1-1/4 oat to 1 cup regular flour. I’m hoping that’s true for this recipe. I might just go ahead and experiment. I’ll post the results.

Thanks, Michelle I think I’m gonna go ahead and try it with oat flour and the combination of almond flour.. I’ll let you know how it turns out! Gotta use all these different varieties of apples
        I have in hand!😀

      2. I used a combination of oat flour and almond flour it turned out great.. I have to admit I didn’t follow the amount of flour recommended exactly. I put a banana in to add some natural sweetness and used a Splenda blend. I also added chopped walnuts and pecans to the batter and made a crumble type topping with sf maple syrup finely chopped apples and more pecans walnuts, cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice! So good!

  18. I just got a bread crock and love it. Wondering if I can use it to make this? I have a great no knead bread flour recipe but want to change it up.

  19. This recipe was amazing! There are a lot of ingredients so it takes a while to get everything mixed and in the pan but it is worth it. I think I may have underbaked it but it was still delicious. Will Definitely make again.

Wonderful! Used apples from our garden. The chunks of apple and the walnuts make this sing. So moist and tasty- it is had to believe there is so little oil- but that applesauce does wonders.

  21. Wow! I needed a recipe to use up apples from our picking this fall – honestly I thought this bread sounded boring, but it is DELICIOUS. I am guessing the applesauce is the reason it is SO MOIST. I even cooked mine an additional 10 minutes or so and was afraid it would be dry. I made her homemade applesauce for this simply because I was using up more apples. Only other small changes I made was using 2 small/medium apples instead of 1 large, coconut oil instead of veg oil, and 2 whole eggs versus eggs whites. Definitely will make this again next fall and double it to freeze a loaf.

I made this bread yesterday. I added some raisins and a little blackstrap molasses and used brown sugar swerve, delicious! How long will it stay good in the fridge?

  23. This was very good. I did take the advice of previous posters and replaced the oil with Greek yogurt and cut the sugar to 1/2 cup. These changes allowed 10 slices at 4 points each. I used the homemade applesauce recipe from this site (which, btw, is delicious!) and the sweetness of it made up for cutting the sugar. I also used honeycrisp apples which are sweeter than gala or fuji. This produced a spongy texture which makes an excellent breakfast loaf.

  24. Turned out really well. Did have the Skinny Taste slow cooker applesauce to use, and I did swerve Brown sugar replacement (1/2) cup and no extra added sugars or syrups, and used Fage nonfat plain Greek yogurt for the oil. Had probably 5 ounce chopped apple. I did cut walnuts to one ounce to save a few more calories. I am going to freeze the slices to help not eat it all at once.

    1. Well, It was frozen in slices but it is such a favorite of ours it is almost gone, time soon to make it again!

So delicious!!! The house smells amazing as it bakes and it’s full of flavor. Perfect fall baking recipe

  26.  Best apple nut bread ever!  Although I didn’t have agave and only had 1/2c brown sugar those to changes didn’t make a difference.

  27. applesauce nut bread recipe has brown sugar but in the assemble of the bread doesn’t 🍞 say when to incorporate it ??

  28. I have made this recipe several time and it is always one that pleases anyone who tries it. I tend to have dark brown sugar on hand and use it and also pecans that I toast up before adding to the batter. I can say, this one is in regular rotation in our home.

  29. I have to say I have made this loaf twice this week and it has been a HUGE hit with my husband and myself. I did make one slight alteration to the recipe. I used olive oil instead of the vegetable oil. I happened to have a bottle of orange, lemon and lime infused olive oil and I used that in place and all I can say is WOW! This will be a go-to recipe for my family and friends ( when we can safely be together again ). I also am not great at measuring cinnamon accurately, lol. Rarely have I ever thought that has too much cinnamon in it. So in reality it is likely doubled in my version of the recipe. Thank you again for an amazing healthy alternative to allow me to feed my family in the healthiest ways possible.

  30. Hi! Thanks for all the wonderful recipes!! Im not a fan of nuts in bread, so if I omit the walnuts, does it lower the points on blue?
    Thank you

I made 33 mini muffins with this mixture and they’re 2pts each. I’m over the moon about this delightful treat with breakfast. Thanks for all the amazing recipes you’ve created!

    1. How long did u bake the mini muffins for. I figure they could be done within 10 to 12 minutes. Great taste for 2 points

  32. Thank you Gina! This cake was perfect with my afternoon coffee…made it gluten free with Bob’s Red Mill 1 to 1 baking flour and swapped honey for the agave. I used your homemade applesauce. The cake is moist and not overly sweet but the slight crunch and sweetness of the chopped apples really made this cake stand out. I can always count on your recipes to be family friendly, easy to follow and favorites for us all.

  33. Is the brown sugar necessary? I’d like to try and make it refined sugar free. Could I substitute with maple, honey, or additional Agave?

    1. You can but it may be too wet, if so maybe add a little more flour or cut back on the applesauce slightly.

I made this recipe the other day and, it was delicious-moist and not too sweet. It was “inhaled “by my household and didn’t even last a day! I will definitely add this to my permanent file of rcipes.

  35. Love this recipe! I made it in a Bundt pan so it was easier to cut and portion slices! Cooking time ended up being about 35 minutes for me.

I also skipped the agave syrup and reduced the brown sugar to 1/4 of a cup. I used generous amounts of cinnamon. It was incredibly good. I’m going to make another one today and freeze it while I still have the ingredients on hand.

Followed directions as written. Except I used all purpose white flour. And stevia/brown sugar blend.. Came out moist and delicious.

  37. LOVED this, used 1/2 white flour and 1/2 white whole wheat. I used a 8.5×4.5 loaf pan because that’s what I had, but even after 65 minutes of baking, the bottom was still a bit raw. How long should I bake it next time?

  38. OMG!! I made mini muffins to help with my portion control and left out the nuts. These were soooo amazing! I added more apples because I love apples! This is an excellent recipe!!!

  39. This is the BEST applesauce bread, evah! I was even told I couldn’t make it any more, it disappeared fast!

  40. Just made two of these last night-one for home and another for work-and they’re SO MOIST. OMG! I found pumpkin applesauce at Trader Joe’s and decided to use it with this experiment—no regrets. I’ll definitely keep this in my regular recipe box for when I have guests over. Thanks for the recipe!!

  41. This was delicious!  I made it exact to the recipe (using store bought, unsweetened, organic applesauce.)  Turns out super moist and not too sweet.  Perfect for a breakfast bread.

  42. This bread is delicious. I made it today on a rainy, cold day and it was perfect with a hot tea. Thanks for posting.

  43. This bread is amazing. I used homemade chunky applesauce and skipped the diced apples. I also used Pillsbury gluten free flour blend. I skipped the cinnamon and added ginger and a bit of molasses. The flavor and texture and so good.

  44. I used store bought apple sauce, after 1h15 in the oven it was still runny inside. I think i should’ve used less apple sauce since the store bought one is more liquid.

  45. I made this tonight.  First I made the homemade applesauce this morning and that was delicious!!!  My bread was just ok.  It tasted a bit rubbery (I only left it in the oven for 42 min) and dense.  It was not as tall and fluffy looking as the pic.  Not sure what went wrong as I followed the recipe.

  46. What is the purpose of using 1 TBS agave on the apples and then sugar in the rest of the recipe? Can I just use sugar for the apples and if so, how much? I don’t buy agave anymore as the more I read up on it, its actually not as healthy as we once believed.

  47. Hello, I can't wait to bake this…but can i use regular flour, or any kind of whole wheat flour? I am in Mexico so I'm not sure to find a good one…and in the apple sauce recipe can I use instead of agave honey? and in the bread recipe can I omit the agave tbsp? Thanks and I love all you recipes and tips…thank you so much.

  48. This was wonderful! But I made your crockpot applesauce a day ahead of time and it was hard to keep my family (including myself) out of it to make sure I had enough left for the bread!

  49. Has anyone tried making this without the apples? I have some store bought applesauce I wanted to use up, and wasn't sure how the flavor would be affected without using the apples.

  50. Made this now and it´s cooling – totally love it! My daughter always gets to lick the bowl and it was sooooo good I thought she was going to crawl into it!!!! (I mde it vegan so no prob with the eggs) I will never buy store made applesauce again – Super easy to make and love the smell on the stove (no crockpot) and the applesauce here in Spain is awful and hard to find anyway – love the recipes!! Can´t wait for the cookbook and thanks A LOT for the recipes Gina!! ME ENCANTA!!!

  51. Gina, what type of immersion blender do you use on your applesauce? I want to make that and the bread!

Can you use almond meal instead of the flour and stevia instead of the honey? Will it work as well as those ingredients?

This bread looks delicious! I'm heading out apple picking in a few days and I'm super excited!

  55. Just made this for the second time using homemade applesauce that my son & his wife canned and gave us. Extremely moist and absolutely delicious. The first time I baked as a loaf, this time as muffins – I got 18 using my 1/4 cup scoop. I did not add any sweetener to the apples, just the lemon to keep from browning, I measured the brown sugar very loosely, and baked the muffins about 20-22 minutes. Yum!

  56. Hi Gina,

I made this last Friday and it is absolutely amazing! Still moist and delicious stored in the refrigerator after 5 days. With hardly any fat, I don't feel guilty slicing it extra thick 🙂

  57. Is there any way to make this bread sugar free? It is absolutely delicious the way it is, and that is the problem, I want to eat a lot of it! Haha I was hoping you knew of a substitution for the brown sugar?

    Jennifer

    1. Monk Fruit sweetener looks like sugar, tastes like sugar, with no calories. It also bakes 1:1 ratio. I get mine at Walmart. Happy baking!!!

  58. I am going to make this bread, but my WW points are very carefully apportioned throughout the day. If I delete the nuts from this bread (I don't like nuts anyway) would it change the points per slice? Everything on your website has been AMAZING! Thanks for sharing!

    1. It's akind of nectar available in health food stores. You can just omit it and the recipe works fine.

  59. I don't know what went wrong, but after 55 minutes of baking, my bread was still runny… I replacend 1/3 of flour with hemp flour, maybe it was that. I baked it for 30 more minutes and it was very dark brown almost black but still wet inside. maybe my applesauce (storebought) had too much liquid, I don't believe it was the flour… will try it again but with only half cup of applesauce.

  60. Hi Gina –

If using Store Bought Applesauce – sweetened or unsweetened?

thanks a bunch!!! I"m a fan of your blog!

I just made 2 loaves of this… I didn't have enough applesauce, so I used half applesauce and half puréed pumpkin. It is SOOOOOOOOOO good!

  62. Hi, Gina. I don't know if you'll see this comment because it's been so long since you've posted it. However, if I wanted to make this without the apple chunks, do I still need to add the ingredients that cooked with the apples? When and where should I add them? Thanks! Love your site and currently filling my recipe box with tons I want to try!

  63. I made the applesauce then the bread. YUM! I did not have agave so I used honey and I would peel the apples for the applesauce. Delish warm. Can't wait for breakfast.

  64. I made this today without the nuts or nutmeg (I have a son with allergies.) I used more cinnamon that it called for and a little pinch of ground cloves. I used a muffin tin instead of a loaf pan for better portion control – they were delicious and a huge hit with my family. Thanks!

  67. This was delicious! I actually only used half a cup of brown sugar and I actually added cranberries which was delicious!

  68. I just made this in muffin form for portion control. So, so good. I added a little extra apple and cinnamon but followed everything else. Muffins take about 22 minutes. Everyone I shared with loved them as well. Will definitely be making again soon.

  69. I used a can of Chunky spice apple sauce,, turned out moist and De-li-cious,, saved a lot of time too, !

  70. This recipe looks so delicious! Why do you insist on King Arthur's or Bob's flour? What is the difference between those and regular flour?

    Thanks!

  71. This came out really great. My wife and I were on Jenny Craig and were buying the banana nut loaves from JC and this is a great equivalent. I refigured the calories and if you cut it into 12 slices (better for breakfast) it comes out to 162.8 calories per slice. I believe that is slices that are 3/4 inch wide.

Great recipe and made my house smell delicious too.

  72. Oh my gosh , this is so good. I used coconut oil instead of the vegetable oil and its so caramel-y !

Made this last night… the whole house smelled delicious. Enjoying my first slice now! My husband had it for breakfast, and has told me 3 times since, just how much he enjoyed it. Thanks, Gina!

  77. I made the applesauce and it was easy and delicious. It gave me a chance to use my nifty apple peeler/corer gadget where you stick the apple on the prongs, twist away and it's done. Thanks for the inspiration!

  78. Gina, made the applesauce and the bread the next day. Both were absolutely delicious! My 17 month old grandaughter went for the bread (which I made as muffins) and was saying mmmmm mmmmm with each bite, lol. Then she finished off the applesauce! I was so proud, knowing how good it was for her and that I knew each ingredient that was in it 🙂 Thank you so much for what you do!

  79. I made the crock pot apple sauce over night and woke up to an amazing smelling apt. I used some of the apple sauce in my oatmeal this morning…Yum! And later in the day, I made the applesauce nut bread — AMAZING!!! I just had a slice and debating whether I should have another slice.

Gina, great recipe! Thank you for sharing.

  80. i noticed in your comments that you said you have to use king arthur or bobs flour…i dont have either what would happen if i used the whole wheat flour i have?

  81. UPDATE: I wouldn't recommend freezing, pulled out 2 slices last night, left one wrapped up and the other unwrapped, both were very spongy/smushy/water logged this morning… flavour is still great just terrible texture!

  82. Made the applesauce Wednesday, so I could make the bread Thursday.. so yummy.. cut it into 8 big slices for breakfast, popped a few in the freezer to see how they do.. making MORE tomorrow YUMMY!

  83. I made this for dessert tonight! Because my husband said I "flavored" the applesauce recipe too much with spices, I only added a touch of pumpkin pie spice to the apples and nothing more. I used Whole Wheat flour instead of white whole wheat and I had about 2 cups left of the applesauce and that was great because it made the bread extra moist! I also used my nut grinder to make the walnuts extra small. This was outstanding!

  84. Oh my goodness! Just finished a slice of this bread with a cup of hot green tea with lemon for my evening snack. I just noticed that you are supposed to slice it into 16 slices not 8. Oh well, I just downed two servings (-: Maybe my slice tomorrow I'll cut in half. Either that or work out an extra 20 minutes on the treadmill.

  85. I made the homemade applesauce the other day. I can't wait to use it to make this bread. It looks wonderful!!

  86. Do you use the Recipe Builder on WeightWatchers.com? I entered the recipe in Recipe Builder and it came out as 3 points plus per serving.

  87. It's a toos up for me. I love the crock pot applesauce and love this bread too. Guess I will just have to keep making the applesauce and enjoy both! Love the way the spices add to this bread. Skipped the nuts as I am not a fan. Lovely, moist and satisfying. Nice change from your delicious banana bread. See I love all of your recipes!

  88. stopped on the way home to get the ingredients. Made a fresh batch of applesauce (NY apples rock!) Only change I left out the nuts.
I just had a piece warm from the oven and I don't know if I can resist having more! It is incredibly delicious! Yummy!

  89. Gina this looks amazing….for store bought apple sauce do you recommend using no sugar added or just regular apple sauce? Thank you!

  90. Made this tonight to go with soup and it was absolutely delicious! Moist, wonderful apple flavor…hard to stop at one piece!

Honey or Sugar would be fine, use the same amount!

Linda, I'm sure you can freeze it, I never have enough left in my house to freeze 🙂

  92. I ran out of your amazing sauce too! Just love the lemon slices stewing away in it. Lends such a nice taste.
Somebody get the crock pot out please!

  93. I also have problems finding agave, can I use honey, or sugar, and what amounts? (I think the honey would be best)

Plan on trying this for Christmas,

  94. Yum, I have a fav Apple bread I make each year for Christmas, but will try this one. Can it be frozen? For how long. Also make mine in small Alum. loaf pans for gifts. How many would this make (approx) and how long approx. to bake. Thanks for receipe.

  95. Thank you so much for sharing all of these wonderful recipies. I have lost 61 pounds on weight watchers and have been a lifetime member for 1 year. Visiting your website has been a blessing. Thanks Again.

  96. Gina,

Can you replace Agave with sugar and if so, what is the substitution amount? This sounds amazing but I don't have agave! I went to buy it in the store and it was incredibly expensive so I made a mental note to get it next time.

  97. This bread is delicious! I made it today and I didn't have agave, so I just used a tablespoon of sugar instead. The bread turned out very moist. The husband and I both loved it!

  98. I am from charlottesville virginia too, and we have the BEST apples. I made this tonight, and it is really tasty. Thanks for this wonderful recipe! I topped mine with just a little bit of butter and it was great.

  99. I could not find Agave in my supermarket, so used honey. Hope it didn't change the calories. It came out so delicious. I used store bought applesauce with the apple and walnuts. I think it's the best I ever ate! I made your clam chowder with it and loved the whole meal.

Isn't is SOOO Good! Just bought more apples to make more sauce to make this again!!

I heard ground flax seeds make a great egg replacement!

White wholewheat is my personal preference but regular whole wheat is fine as long as it's King Arthur or BoB's you're good!

I would assume agave would work, it may make it moister so cooking time might need to be longer.

  101. YOU GUYSSSSSS, IT IS SOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!! My sister made some homemade applesause with apples picked from an apple orchard in Charlottesville, VA. I used two of the small apples and her applesauce. I didn't have walnuts so I used pecans. We don't eat eggs so I replace the eggs with two tablespoons of baking powder. YUMMY!!

  102. Just made this today after receiving the email recipe! Perfect for a snowed in New England family gathering today! Delicious..I also added a few praline pecans which taste yummy in it! Love your recipes!!

  103. I am sooooo excited. I am fixing this right away. SN…I made the cauliflower Fritters. They were the BOMB!!! Took them to work and everyone loved them. THEY NEVER KNEW. (LOL)

  104. Is it important to use white whole wheat flour? Can I use my Bob's Red Mill Whole Wheat Flour? Thanks for the help!

  105. WHAAAT?! I am speechless and shocked at how low fat any dessert bread could be! This is amazing! I will definitely try this and let you know how it went!
