This Chili-Lime Air Fryer Salmon is seasoned with a blend of spices for maximum flavor that cooks in under 10 minutes.

The only way I make salmon these days is in the air fryer. It’s the fastest and easiest way to get the most tender piece of salmon with seared edges. Plus, there’s no need to preheat the oven, and it doesn’t make the whole kitchen smell like fish. This Chili-Lime Salmon is so tasty as is, or try it topped with Avocado Mango Salsa! Chili-Lime Salmon Ingredients

  • Salmon: I used fresh wild salmon filets, but you can also use thawed frozen fish
  • Spices: Tajin Classic, salt, garlic powder, oregano, smoked paprika
  • Toppings: Finish the salmon with fresh lime juice and chopped cilantro

What is in Tajin seasoning?

Tajin is a mix of chili peppers, lime, and salt. If you don’t have Tajin, substitute it with chili-lime seasoning from Trader Joe’s or other brands.

How to Cook Salmon in the Air Fryer

Air frying salmon is so quick and easy!

  • Spritz the salmon with oil and rub with all the spices.
  • To prevent the salmon skin from sticking, spray the air fryer basket with oil (make sure it’s “propellant-free”) or line it with air fryer parchment paper with holes.
  • Put the salmon in the basket with the skin side down.
  • Air fry the fish for 6 to 8 minutes, depending on the thickness at 400F degrees. No need to turn the fish.

What to Serve with Chili-Lime Salmon

I love to top this chili-lime salmon with a fresh salsa like this Avocado Mango Salsa or Watermelon Salsa. You could also serve it with Cilantro Lime Rice, Black Beans, or Skillet Mexican Zucchini.

The salmon would also be great as fish tacos or on a salad. And don’t forget about the drinks – make a margarita or paloma to go with your meal. ¡Salud!

This Chili-Lime Salmon is seasoned with a blend of Mexican spices for maximum flavor and cooks in the air fryer in under 10 minutes.


  • 4 6 ounce pieces wild salmon fillet, skin on
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons Tajin Classic or chili-lime seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Lime wedges, for serving
  • chopped fresh cilantro
  • mango-avocado salsa, Optional for topping


  • Spritz salmon all over with oil and season with chili-lime seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, cumin, oil, 1/4 teaspoon salt and oregano.
  • Spray the basket with olive oil or use air fryer parchment with holes to prevent sticking.
  • Place salmon in the air fryer basket with the skin side down and air fry 400F for 6 to 8 minutes.
  • Serve with lime wedges and top with fresh cilantro, and optional salsa if desired.

Oven Method

  • Bake on a sheetpan in a preheated 400F oven about 10 minutes.

  1. Super easy and pretty good. Definitely a little too salty for me. Next time I’ll leave out the added kosher salt, I imagine that will help!

  2. Wow this is absolutely delicious and SO EASY. I usually struggle to cook fish successfully, and this was foolproof. Another dynamite recipe that will be a frequent dinner at our house! 

  3. We loved this. It was a great way to liven up our salmon rotation. I did not make any modifications to the salmon recipe, but next time I will probably lessen the kosher salt to my preference.  It was a smidge too salty for me with the kosher and the salt in the tajin, but I’m sensitive to sodium. The rest of the family raved about it including our cuisine cautious 6 year old. I served it with the skinny taste cilantro lime rice and store bought packaged mango salsa. 

  4. Pan seared it and I lobed it so much I made it two days in a row! The rub is delicious. We had it with rice, black beans and sauteed mustard greens, and a homemade salsa. Going in my permanent rotation!

  5. Just made this- and it was excellent!  I blended the spices then grilled the salmon directly on the grate-  hot grill(450′)  for 8 minutes- PERFECT! Too hot to cook inside today.   I want to try it with chicken next and your cilantro lime rice!

  6. This was AMAZING! I made it exactly as written. I don’t care for salmon but I cook it because the rest of the family likes it and I LOVED this! This will be my new go to for salmon. Served it over your Cilantro Lime Rice and topped with the Mango-Avocado Salsa. I then made it again the next morning with chicken to take to work the next two nights. Just as delicious! This is a great leftover meal also. I will double it in the future. Your recipes never disappoint and make cooking fun! Thank you!!!

  7. This was delicious, fast, and easy. Even my picky 3 year old devoured it. The avocado mango slaw is essential, and this was great with the cilantro lime rice. Yet another Skinnytaste win!

  9. I think your calorie calculation is off by at least 86 calories. According to MyFoodDiary 3 Ounces of salmon is at least 174 calories. Therefore making 6 ounce fillet would be at least 348 calories for the salmon fillet.

    • I just took a look at this and I think the values from our nutrition database should be correct since they are pulled directly from USDA.

  10. The recipe says to season the salmon with the seasons but includes Cumin and Oil, which are not listed under the ingredients. How much of each?

  11. Wow. What a wonderful meal! I made this last night (along with the Avocado and Mango Salsa) and it was perfect! Love, love! Very light and filling meal. I didn’t even add any additional veggies for a side.

  18. Salomon is so expensive and I don’t own an air fryer or instapot. I live in the midwest and it’s hard to buy some of the ingredients used in alot of your recipes or I have no idea what the name of the dish is. I have 2 of your books and love them but some of your recent recipes I’ve never heard of. Just thought you might want to know not all of us can afford or obtain the more “gourmet” meal items.

      I have about 2000 recipes here!! So if something new I post doesn’t fit in your budget, I have so many others that will. I also have a budget friendly section, you can see in the recipe index.

    • Some recipes aren’t necessarily for every night or even a few times a week but rather a special occasion or a just a fancier nice meal. This is one of those. Yes, salmon is expensive BIT look for sales like I do.
      Like Gina said in her reply, there are a zillion recipes here and a lot of interchangeable. I also have her cookbooks (4 or 5). She develops all kinds of great recipes and I have yet to see one I’d consider  “gourmet ” (no offense Gina😉). If she does use an ingredient you’ve never heard of, just Google it. I’ve had to do that.  Maybe don’t be so quick to criticize next time. 

    • Just an FYI- I’m also in the Midwest and Tajin is readily available. I usually buy it at Walmart, either in the spice aisle or the Hispanic section. It’s a fun spice mix to try on many things, especially seafood and Mexican.

  19. How can I cook without an air fryer?

  20. So from the look of it, it would be hard to get 4 normal pieces of salmon to fit in the air fryer at one time, or if you did squeeze them in, it would be hard getting them out in one piece. I think I’ll keep to roasting my full salmon filet on silpat in a 425 oven for 10-12 min, though the spice combo does sound appealing, and what we don’t eat the first night I flake up into salmon salad the next day

  21. The seasoning blend was so tasty! I didn’t have salmon on hand so I used Barramundi (white fish similar to sea bass).  Did the air fryer and it was perfect.  I want to put those spices on some shrimp next.  Another winner, Gina.
