Cinnamon-Raisin Overnight Oats

Vegan Cinnamon-Raisin Overnight Oats

I made this Cinnamon-Raisin Overnight Oats recipe for my brother, and now he’s hooked! It’s a heart-healthy, high-fiber breakfast that is easy to make and perfect to eat on the go. To increase the fiber I add chia seeds and flax seeds, making this 12 grams of fiber per serving, almost half of my daily goal of at least 25 grams per day. This nourishing boost supports digestion and helps you stay satisfied until your next meal. Ingredients for Cinnamon-Raisin Overnight Oats.

Cinnamon-Raisin Overnight Oats Ingredients

  • Oats: Use a third cup of quick oats. I prefer organic, but regular are good too.
  • Seeds: You’ll need a tablespoon each of ground flax and chia seeds.
  • Milk: I used almond milk, but any kind will work.
  • Cinnamon for warmth and depth of flavor
  • Sweetener: Choose your favorite sweetener, like monk fruit, stevia, or brown sugar.
  • Raisins: Mix a tablespoon of raisins into the oats and top with more if desired.
  • Toppings: Finish off your overnight oats with sliced banana, walnuts, hemp seeds, or any other kind of nut or seed.

How to Make Cinnamon-Raisin Overnight Oats

  1. Mix Overnight Oat Ingredients: Stir oats, flax and chia seeds, milk, cinnamon, sweetener, and raisins in a mason jar or storage container.
  2. Refrigerate the oats overnight or at least three to four hours.
  3. Overnight Oats Consistency: Remove the lid and stir when ready to eat. If the oats are too thick, add a little milk.
  4. Toppings: Eat the oats straight out of the jar or pour into a bowl, and top with sliced banana, walnuts, and raisins for more texture and sweetness.

Variations

  • Gluten-Free Overnight Oats: Substitute gluten-free oats.
  • Dried Fruit: Swap raisins with dried cranberries or chopped prunes.
  • Toppings: Top your overnight oats with berries, pecans, or almonds.
  • Apple Cinnamon Raisin Overnight Oats: Add apples instead of bananas.
  • Spices: Add a pinch of nutmeg, or swap cinnamon for pumpkin pie spice.
  • Vanilla Extract: Stir in a little vanilla with the milk.

How to Store Overnight Oats

These cinnamon-raisin overnight oats will last up to five days in the fridge. They’re perfect for meal prep, so double, triple, or quadruple the recipe to prepare breakfasts for the week.

FAQs

Are overnight oats healthy?

Yes, overnight oats are healthy. Although they can be high in carbohydrates, they’re also high in fiber and protein, making them a smart choice for a balanced diet. Using monk fruit or stevia reduce the added sugar. Oats are also a great source of vitamins and minerals, like copper, magnesium, and B vitamins.

Why not use water with overnight oats?

These overnight oats with dairy-free milk are creamier and have a richer flavor than ones with water. Of course, water can also be used.

What makes overnight oats taste better?

Sweetener, spices, and fruit all make overnight oats taste better. Start with a teaspoon of sweetener and add a little more at a time until they are sweet enough for you.

  1. This is an excellent product. The taste is fantastic. I made the recipe with non fat milk instead of almond milk. I will have this for breakfast every morning for weight loss and to lower my cholesterol.

  2. I used quick oats and the next morning I had a delicious drink! Will try the regular long cooking oatmeal tonight.

Have never made these before but I’m curious I don’t think my son will eat these cold can it be warmed then in the microwave?

  4. I forgot to make these last night but did this morning and put in the fridge for almost 2h, and then warmed in the microwave for 1.5min. Warming it seemed to speed up the process and it was delicious! I like my oatmeal warm anyway but will need cold ones on other days in my lunch. I didn’t have flax seed, but I have it on my grocery list for the next time.

  5. I made this last night in preparation for breakfast today. I doubled the recipe and added banana and walnuts just before serving. The taste was great but I prefer my overnight oats to be a bit thicker so I’ll probably cut down on the amount of milk next time I make it.

  6. Gina…Question?
I’ve never made overnight oats before but wondering if this and all of your other Overnight Oat recipes could be put into a cereal size bowl from the start instead of a jar or would it affect the final product?
I want to make it for my 88 year old Mother. I think she would prefer it warmed and would want to eat it from a bowl and don’t want her to have to fuss with dumping from a jar to a bowl. I try to prepare her meals so that all she has to do is take them from the fridge to the microwave.
FYI…Shes loves your Unstuffed Cabbage Soup, Stuffed Pepper Soup and Turkey Taco Chili Soup among many of your other recipes I make for her!
    Thank You!!

    1. I think it would be fine as long as you can cover the dish in the fridge. Then she can mix and add the toppings when she is ready. I’m so glad she enjoys my recipes! 🙂

  7. One of my favorite things is overnight oats and I’m always looking for new recipes to try out. I made some using this recipe earlier this morning (I like snacking on them throughout the day) and I’ve almost eaten them. Definitely making more! Thanks for the recipe!
