Have a mojito party! This is a popular drink in all the trendy NYC spots. I've loved this cuban drink long before it became popular. I have figured out an easy low point weight watcher mojito recipe that tastes great. Use this recipe and add a Caribbean flair to your next party!
- 1.5 oz Bacardi Rum
- 12 fresh spearmint leaves
- 1/2 lime
- 7 oz sprite zero or club soda
- 2 tbsp. splenda

I love mojitos! They are refreshing and I'm always worried about those empty points! Way to go. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteI love your website its great. I am hoping you could help me with how much would a cuban tostada
with light butter be in points.
Thanking you in advance for your help,
Jacque
How big is the bread? Light butter you can use the calculator to figure out the points, it depends on the brand and how much.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Wonderful! Just the right combination for a hot summer night!
ReplyDelete@Patty - Can't wait to have one! Five months pregnant right now, this is one thing I am surely missing this summer!!
ReplyDeleteMore cocktails please!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Congrats on the bb.
I promise I will have more cocktails once I can drink!!
ReplyDeleteI make these mojitos all of the time! They are sooooo good and I dont have to feel all guilty! I only change one thing and that is that I use stevia instead of splenda!! You are ahhhhhhwesome! :) Thanks Gina-bo-bina!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip! I'm actually a bartender and didn't think of this one, lol. Three of us at work are on WW I will definitely bring try making Mojitos for us with splenda and diet sprite :)
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING WEIGHT WATCHER RECIPE SITES THAT I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS. THANK YOU FOR ALL THESE TASTY RECIPES. I LOVE THE WAY YOU HAVE IT BROKEN DOWN. IT IS SO EASY TO FIND A RECIPE FOR THE FOOD THAT YOU WANT TO EAT. YOU ARE THE GREATEST.
ReplyDeleteAwesome, glad you find it easy to navigate. That is my main goal, so I guess I've accomplished that :)
ReplyDeletethanks for all that you bring to those of us who are watching what we eat.
ReplyDeleteyou make it so easy and tasty.
Aww, thank you! And you're welcome!
ReplyDeleteWow I am so excited that I found this website! Thanks for sharing all these yummy recipes:)
ReplyDeleteAlong with basil (which I absolutely *love*) and cilantro, I planted mint to grow on our patio this summer. It's finally taking off and I can't wait to use it in these mojitos! They sound great! I love mojitos and that was one of the reasons I chose mint to grow. Now that I have stumbled across this low point mojito, I won't feel so guilty every time I make one to enjoy on these hot summer days. Thanks! I seriously love your site, the delicious recipes (made with real food...important to me as a mom), and how generous you are to share them all with us. Thank you again! :)
ReplyDeleteMy mint grows out of control!! But it's perfect for mojitos!!
ReplyDeleteOMG! I made these for me and my sister in law last night (for our weekly family dinner). They were soooo good! Her boyfriend even stole hers! They are so close to the original, and so good, that I'll never go back! We had some fresh strawberries, so after dinner, we got inspired to make strawberry mojitos. We sliced up 2 strawberries, put them in the bottom of the cup along with the mint, lime juice, and splenda (reduced to 1 tbsp). Muddle, add the ice, rum, and sprite zero...and voila! Delicious! We couldn't decide which way was our favorite. Luckly, I have a ton of mint...so we have all summer to decide. :)
ReplyDelete@Joy- Strawberry Mojitos, sounds delicious!!
ReplyDeleteHi Gina,
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if there is anyway maybe to put real sugar but less and still get a decent taste? Splenda/fake sugar gives me a headache and tummy pangs. Any suggestions?
And BTW... LOVE your blog. The recipes, points, pictures are lovely. Keep up the good work.
I think if you use Sprite zero which is sweetened, you could leave the sugar out, but it just won't be as sweet. Or add 1 tsp at a time until you like the taste. I've trained myself to use less sugar in my coffee and drinks so now I don't require as much. Agave might be nice in this too!
ReplyDeleteI love this receipe! I'm so thankful that I found your site! Yummy!!
ReplyDelete2 T. of splenda seems to be a lot - is that right? Love your recipes!
ReplyDeleteI would add Splenda to taste, try one first and see. Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteOMG Gina.your..I LOVE your site..you have changed my outlook on eating good and right..thats really hard since I am from New Orleans!!!..keep up the great work..:)
ReplyDeleteGina--Please watch what people are posting on your blog. Neptunebaby posted the Weight Watcher quiz for determining points values. This is copywrited information and you could possibly be sued becaus it's on your blog.
ReplyDeleteJust watching out for you.
Just curious-- for those of us not on WW.. would you happen to know how many calories and/or carbs are in one of your yummy cuban mojitos? Also- the strawberry mojito sounds delicious too!
ReplyDeleteI love the mojito recipe, is the best!
ReplyDeleteSo i'm new to the weight watchers program and have been loving your variety of recipies! I'm just having a little bit of confusion with alcohol points! In my book of points it says 1.5 oz of rum = 4 points, but in your mojito, im guessing the points only come from the alcohol meaning 1.5 oz of rum = 2 points. Can some one help me figure out the points in alcohol! thank youuuu
ReplyDeleteSorry, this is still the old points, I still need to update points plus here.
ReplyDeleteHow can this be 2 points when the rum 4 points?? this is really a 7 point Mojito
ReplyDeleteThis hasn't been updated to points plus yet.
ReplyDeleteWow. I made these one night and hubby (who is a beanpole and hates splenda) declared "this is my new summer drink!" I looooove this mojito so muc. So fresh and sparkly. Caution, it'll sneak up on you if you're not careful......
ReplyDeleteIt's bikini time in Texas so I've been working out and eating right with my boyfriend so that we can look great for Lake Travis boat parties. I like to drink, so I've been trying my best to drink as low calorie as possible. I'm so happy to have found this recipe because I order these at the bar for $7 a piece! I made one tonight with your cilantro lime shrimp, roasted prosciutto wrapped asparagus, and some mashed sweet potatoes. I'M IN HEAVEN!! Thank you for making sure that I'm having fun and not deprived while trying to drop this last dress size. I honestly have not cooked any recipe not belonging to you in a month.
ReplyDeleteGina, I would love to try this recipe but unfortunately I can't use splenda - I get sick from it. :( Do you have any other sugar substitutes that you'd recommend?
ReplyDeleteYou could try Trivia or Stevia... just a thought.
DeleteIt is 4:30, Mother's Day. Just finished my one hour break sitting outside with this drink... fabulous! The mint that has invaded my flower bed now has a wonderful purpose, thank you! And happy Mother's Day!
