Air Fryer Cajun Shrimp Dinner
This fast and easy Air Fryer Cajun Shrimp recipe is a meal-in-one, made with shrimp, sausage, and lots of colorful vegetables such as zucchini, yellow squash and bell peppers.

Air Fryer Cajun Shrimp and Vegetables
This is the best Cajun shrimp recipe! It’s colorful and packed with flavor. The best part is it takes less than thirty minutes to make! This recipe was inspired by these Cajun Shrimp Foil Packets, which are so popular on my blog. You can see more air fryer recipes by clicking on the AF icon.
For the veggies, I wanted lots of color so I went with zucchini, yellow squash, and red bell peppers but any stir fry vegetables can be used here.
When purchasing an air fryer, looks for an air fryer that is easy to clean with a large basket like the Skinnytaste Vremi Air Fryer that you can pre-order on Amazon. And if you haven’t ordered the Skinnytaste Air Fryer Cookbook, it’s filled with 75 healthy recipes for any air fryer including onion rings, egg rolls, churros, and much more!
If you don’t have an air fryer, you can cook this in a large skillet. To do so, I would cook it in two batches on high heat for 5 to 8 minutes per batch.
Reasons I love air frying:
- Food comes out so much crispier than it does in my oven.
- It takes only three minutes to preheat, it doesn’t heat up the kitchen.
- It’s safer and healthier than deep frying and it doesn’t smoke up the whole house.
- The air fryer has now replaced my oven on most weekdays and nights, whether making hard boiled eggs, whipping up a side dish, heating up leftovers, or making dinner.
In fact, I love it so much I decided to partner with Vremi to brand my own air fryer with improvements from the one I previously owned with a larger basket, built-in presets to make life a bit easier, easy-to-clean PFOA-free nonstick coating, and of course, making it dishwasher safe which is how Skinnytaste by Vremi Air Fryer and the Skinnytaste Air Fryer Cookbook came about.
About the Skinnytaste by Vremi Air Fryer:
DO MORE THAN FRY – You can easily fry, bake and roast using only one appliance. Our 1700W power oil-less air fryer uses hot air combined with 360° high rapid air circulation with a temperature range from 100 – 400°F to cook healthier dishes faster than with a standard oven.
DISHWASHER SAFE, NON-STICK and PFOA-FREE – The outer pot, basket and the inside of the air fryer have a black, non-stick coating for super easy cleaning. Both the outer pot and basket are dishwasher safe.
EXTRA LARGE CAPACITY – With a 5.8 QT (5.5 L) large, removable, non-stick basket, it’s large enough to cook meals for the whole family or when hosting friends. It measures 13.8 x 13.8 x 13.4 in thoughtfully designed to fit on your kitchen countertop.
DIGITAL TOUCH-SCREEN WITH 8 COOKING PRESETS – With the touch of a button, quickly select one of 8 cooking presets to easily cook french fries, pork chops, shrimp, bacon, and more. Or, set your own time and temperature when you want greater control. A built-in pre-heat function ensures the unit heats to the desired temperature before you begin to cook.

My first time using the air fryer, and this was perfect. Great, flavorful recipe and not remotely heavy. A winner!
This was so delicious. We actually made it and threw it in a bowl and just picked at it. I loaded up on veggies while my boyfriend at a bunch of sausage and we both had shrimp. So fast and easy!!
I made. this last week and used the Trader Joe’s chicken apple sausage and it was AHHHMAAAAZING! Love this recipe and the air fryer! 🙂
I made this last night and was thrilled! It really took very little time to prep and the fact that I have the SkinnyTaste by Vremi Air Fryer, I was able to cook the entire meal in one batch! It was not only delicious, it was also very pretty! Will definitely make again!
Glad you enjoyed the meal and your air fryer!
This was super delicious. I served with seasoned cauliflower rice. This has become a staple in our house. Works great as a sheet pan meal as well.
We love this! Make it almost once a week. We like to serve it over cauliflower rice
This is simply the easiest and fastest , delicious meal. I’ve made it three times already and just love love love it.
Excellent-I loved this recipe!
We really liked this recipe. Used Tony Chachere’s Lite Creole Seasoning and this dish was really spicey-hot! Made simple cheese quesadillas to help balance the heat.
It doesn’t get any easier or quicker or…tastier than this recipe. I’ve made it several times. Everyone loves it.
Love this recipe. I have made it several times in the last month. It is easy and so delicious. My husband loves it also. I serve with rice.
I would love to make this for my Dad but he does not like anything too spicy, I have kielbasa that I could use but do you think the Cajun seasoning would be too spicy? Do you suggest something else that I could season with not as spicy?
Old Bay Seasoning or Malibu Fish seasoning work with my kids.
If I wanted to make this without the sausage would that work? Would I still follow the directions as-is? Thanks!
Sure maybe double the shrimp
Gina, do you have a brand of Cajun seasoning that you prefer?? I’ve struggled with some Cajun inspired recipes in the past bc the spice level of different seasonings can be so different!
I like “Slap Ya Mama” brand.
Delicious! I have an air fryer with the racks, not a basket, and it came out great.
Out Freakin Standing!!!! Hubby had 3 plates. Served it over Zatarains Yellow Rice for a wonderful meal.
I’m from the Texas/Louisiana border where we get fresh seafood and we cook cajun cuisine too. This recipe was quite a surprise. It was super easy to put together, fast cooking in the air fryer and the entire family loved the flavor and spice. Definitely in our dinner rotation. Thanks!
Great! Glad you enjoyed it!
Loved this! Easy to make and used my homemade Cajun spice. Will add it to the dinner rotation!
Could this be made in the convection oven? Temp? Time?
I have an acti-fry itch a Paddle. Should I remove the paddle?
Amazing and so easy to make.
Delicious!
Loved this recipe
I’m not a shrimp person so do you think I can sub chicken instead?
This was delicious! I do not have an air fryer, so I appreciate the stove top directions. I did add a little more cajun seasoning than suggested and a jalapeño because we love spice in my house! Wilmington, DE
Hello!
Does this recipe (and most of your others) work with a 4-quart capacity air fryer?
Thank you!
Sara
This has my boyfriend convinced that I know how to cook. It’s probably our new favorite meal! I added asparagus, my favorite veggie, and cooked it on the stove because we haven’t gotten an air fryer yet. It still turned out perfectly.
Thank you for this recipe!! Working nights has wreaked havoc on my eating, and Skinnytaste is helping me get it back under control with healthy meals that sustain me!! The best!!
This was really good. Even my picky kids liked it.
I’m sorry, I’m sure this question has been answered many times, I am new to this. In the nutritional info, I understand the Freestyle points, but what about the number after Points+:7? Thanks in advance.
Thats the old points system.
This recipe is amazing. Super easy to make and cooks up nice and quick in the air fryer. The flavors are delicious and I will definitely be making this again!
Made this tonight with mixed frozen vegetables instead of zucchini because my kids don’t like zucchini. It was so easy and very delicious. My first time making something like this in the air fryer. I was pleasantly surprised!
This was very good and I feel full but it was light to my stomach. I don’t own an air fryer so I had to fry shrimp, sausage and veggies separately then I tossed them together.
Should the shrimp be raw or frozen?
not frozen, raw yes.
Do you need to thaw the shrimp before cooking or put them in frozen?
We do not have an air fryer of our own, but my in-laws do and I am excited to see how this tastes.
So delicious and easy. Adding this to our camping menu! Thanks:)
This is SO delicious! Cooking shrimp in the air fryer is the only way I’ll cook them from now on – they stay so succulent! I added my sausage during the last 4 minutes of each batch since I found it overcooked last time, but this recipe is a winner no matter what. Thanks, Gina!
I’m using my Vremi Skinnytatse for the first time right now for this recipe…..is this basket considered a large one? Can I put all the ingredient in one batch?
What if I could only find uncooked andouille sausage? Should I cook it on the stove first, or will it cook in the air fryer with everything else?
Its hard to slice raw, I would cook first whole in the air fryer.
This is delicious. I made it exactly as instructed, but I baked it in the oven. I don’t have an air fryer, LOL!
400 degrees for about 10 mins. I will definitely make this again.
Winner! Winner! Shrimp & sausage dinner! My son had his g/f over for dinner. Served this over creamy jalapeno cheddar grits. Tomato garlic mussels as an appetizer. Very happy tummies!
Ah grits would be a great side.
I made this on the stovetop tonight, and it was mostly well-received! My 3yo decided that she doesn’t like squash or zucchini, but she loved the red pepper, shrimp, and sausage! I might add green beans next time, since she usually eats those. It was incredibly easy to put together. Thanks!
Can I use less oil? Maybe just spray? (So as to lower the points)
Was very easy and very tasty. No air fryer here but did it in the convection oven, same time and temp. Thanks.
I have never been able to eat shrimp. However, with this recipe, I could ☺️ It’s so simple, yet very delicious. My family and I use your meal plan recipes weekly. They have truly broadened my cooking abilities and saved us money!
I just made this for the 1st time in my lovely new Vremi Skinnytaste airfyer and I love it!! So easy to make. Thank you once again for sharing such flavorful recipes.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Do you think I can substitute the res pepper for asparagus?
You can sub anything you want. I wouldn’t use really fat asparagus though as it will take longer to cook. The average size spear should work great.
Super Duper! Landed a free air fryer and then the deliciousness began. Super easy and absolutely super tasting. My 89 yr old mom was thrilled with it as well.
Great!
Loved this recipe. So easy and delicious! I didn’t have Cajun so I used paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and oregano and it turned out great.
My air fryer only has racks not a basket will it work the same on the rack?
Not sure?
Were you able to make it work with the racks? Mine has racks too.
My air fryer also have racks and I just made this recipe and it turned out perfect!
mine has racks too but I went to the dollar tree and found these little square pans. they fit perfectly in my air fryer. I use them everyday to cook different dishes. I hope this helps.
Made this for dinner tonight and it was great! We used emeril’s creole seasoning recipe and it made this dish shine! Thanks for another great dinner Gina!
You’re welcome Jen!
Loved the recipe, I added onions and seasoned everything with salt, pepper and garlic powder as well (on top of the Cajun shrimp). Came out fantastic!
Great! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for this recipe! My boyfriend and I absolutely loved it. So easy and incredibly delicious. Whenever I make one of your recipes, it always becomes a family favourite! I didn’t have any Cajun spice, so I did 1/2 tbsp each of paprika & chill powder with 1/4 tbsp of garlic powder, worked like a charm … but I’ll grab some Cajun powder on my next trip to the grocery store 🙂
I’m making this tonight. I used the WW calculator to add the points. It’s coming up 7 freestyle points. What am I doing wrong?
Hi Lynn. The only accurate way to determine any recipe’s SmartPoints® value is to plug the ingredients into the recipe builder on the Weight Watchers website (Click on “My Foods,” select “Recipe,” and click “Create a recipe.”) which does not count fruits and vegetables in recipes in the calculations as they are now 0 points.
The SmartPoints® calculator isn’t meant for recipes and will often give you the wrong points (usually higher) because it’s counting the fruits and vegetables. So if you see a recipe with a SmartPoints® value that’s different from what the calculator tells you, now you know why.
Do you think I can substitute the res pepper for asparagus?
Can I bake or grill outside as I do not have an air fryer.
You can cook this in a large skillet. To do so, I would cook it in two batches on high heat for 5 to 8 minutes per batch.
I hate when a recipe site doesn’t allow us to pin the recipe to Pinterest.
It works fine for me. Hover over the photo. Are you having issues on desktop? Or phone?
How long and at what temp? Please
Made this and it was delicious.
My husband’s only comment was that he wished it had cauliflower in it (the one vegetable he likes). I’ll try that next time, although I imagine ill need to at least partially pre cook the cauliflower.
This recipe is also Noom diet friendly. With the exception of the oil, everything is a green or yellow food.
This was absolutely delicious! I added mushrooms and looking forward to trying it with different veggies.
I cook this all on a sheet pan. Favorite recipe!!
That was so good! And so easy to put together. Definitely a keeper. (Secretly hoping my family grabs dinner on the way home so there’s more here for me!)
What would the time/temp be if I was doing this in a toaster oven-style air fryer? Would it be the same?
Yes
Most of you can relate. We’ve been traveling almost constantly for the last three weeks and reality set in when we met up with the scale this morning (not pretty). This is our first dinner back counting points and it so hits the spot – spicy, nice texture, good amounts of protein and veggies. Thanks as always, Gina!
We made this last night & it was so good! My kids don’t usually eat veggies like this, but my 9 year old decided the yellow squash was pretty good. I served with another side of green beans so the kids had veggies to go with it.
Is there a milder seasoning you would recommend for those who have kids that won’t eat spicy foods?
you could try old bay seasoning
Do you buy raw shrimp or cooked shrimp?
I never know either and this recipe doesn’t state it
The shrimp looks uncooked in the video.
This was absolutely delicious!!! I had to cook it in 3 batches but oh my goodness the flavors and everything were perfect. Can’t wait to make it again!
I buy at a local market- similar to a farmers market- so they aren’t cooked through. Would you recommend cooking them through in the skillet and then putting them in the air fryer since your directions say the sausage should be fully cooked?
Thanks!
Skillet works.
How many servings does this make? I’m trying to check points using different types of sausage. Thanks
1 1/2 cups
I made this exactly as written, using Penzey’s Cajun seasoning. It was delicious! It is spicy, which my husband and I like.
This was sooooo good!!! Highly recommend!!
I accidentally bought cooked shrimp instead of raw. Will they be tough if I cook them the full 8 minutes? Should I add them in at the end?
I would add them at the end.
Quick question. Could you use chicken in place of the shrimp?
If you wish.
I don’t have an air fryer and but used the copper crisper racks that I use for oven fried chicken etc. They worked beautifully for this recipe. I put them in a 400 degree oven for 15-20 minutes until the vegetables were tender and the shrimp was nice and pink.. So very, very good.
My husband is allergic to anything that lives in water so I made another batch without shrimp and added a little more Andouille sausage. He loved it!
Thanks for such a wonderful recipe.
This was quite good! My wife found it salty, but I found it perfect! It was our first time using the air fryer my parents gave us last Christmas. It worked well, but I added some time since we have a larger fryer and put it all in at once. Otherwise, good recipe. I’m sure this will go into the rotation.
Great! I am sure all brands of Cajun spice vary with salt, so it’s probably best to add to taste.
We used Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning. Great recipe. Easy and delicious!
Wonderful, Really like the zucchini and squash with this. I used a bit more sausage, ( Bilinski Cilantro lime chicken sausage) and less shrimp. I don’t have an air fryer yet so did in the skillet and it was wonderful. Used Penzey Cajun seasoning. Didn’t need to use any oil. This was easy and great.
Awesome!
This was SO good. I didn’t change a thing other than double the recipe. I don’t have an air fryer so I cooked it in the oven. It was a HIT for my family of 6. We didn’t have a piece left.
I don’t have an air fryer yet, but I want to make this in a skillet. How long and at what temp would you suggest? Thank you!
I don’t have an air fryer either.. I made this last night. Same recipe just slightly different vegetables. It was delicious and quick and easy. https://www.skinnytaste.com/cajun-shrimp-in-foil/
I would make it in the oven in foil packets as opposed to on the stove. Zucchini gets mushy when cooled on the stove unless you are cooking at a very high heat. With the foil packets you can prep ahead and then just bake. I have even frozen them uncooked and then cooked later and they are always excellent 😊
Thank you so much! I’ll try it tonight! =)
I have a older air fryer that only goes up to 350. Should I just cook longer? If so, how much?
Wow absolutely awesome thank you for the recipe 🙂
What other spices would you recommend instead of Cajun?? My kiddos don’t like spicy stuff.
Salt, garlic powder and paprika would be nice!
Another winner. Healthy, quick and delicious. I didn’t have any cajun seasoning in my cupboard. I found a recipe for cajun seasoning on line. It was easy to make since all ingredients are cupboard staples. I used aloha peppers, for no other reason then they are beautiful, added colors of red and orange. Shrimp came out perfect. I was never able to make shrimp in the frying pan without over cooking them. I will use my air fryer for shrimp from now on. Will make again this dish again, just a much bigger batch.
Hi Gina! This will be my 1st Air Fryer attempt 🙂 If I am using your Skinnytaste Vremi Air Fryer , do I need to do this in 2 batches or will 1 work? I am very excited!
I think it would cook best in 2. You can heat both batches up 1 minute once they are cooked.
Thanks! (That was quick ;-))
