Warning! This dessert is highly addictive and hard to stop eating! Don't be fooled by the humble ingredients, this is easy to make, very refreshing, and is perfect to bring to a BBQ. Truthfully, the first time I heard of this grape dessert, the ingredients did not appeal to me. But when I tasted it, OMG! This is one of those recipes you'll be making again and again and chances are you probably have all the ingredients in your kitchen. Easily doubles for more people.

Definitely going to have to try this because it has 2 of my favorites: grapes and Chobani yogurt!
ReplyDeleteThis looks really interesting! very refreshing! Do the points lower with the use of splenda?
ReplyDeleteMy aunt used to make something like this with Splenda and it was SO yummy and refreshing!
ReplyDeleteMy mom makes this and I always wondered about the points. Thanks for posting them! It's a super yummy dessert/salad in hot weather. Fantastic blog, by the way.
ReplyDeleteThis looks delicious! What is Chiobani greek yogurt? I have seen regular greek yogurt but not chiobani...?
ReplyDeleteChiobani is a Name Brand of a greek yougurt made in New Berlin Ny, a rural Upsate NY farming community.
Deleteyou can get chobani at raleys
DeleteThat looks SO good!!! I live off of grapes, jk!!
ReplyDeleteTried your chocolate zucchini bread tonight and it was delish!! Thanks, LOVE this website!!!
very nice! all the sinful taste without the guilt! yes! thanks... xo
ReplyDeleteI have been making this recipe for about a year with wonderful comments. Asked over and over to make it. Although, I use splenda and skip the brown sugar. Also my recipe does not call call cutting them up and I use 8 oz light cream cheese and 8 oz light sour cream. I also roll the pecans right into the recipe.
ReplyDeleteI do not cut mine up either. It gets too watery, IMO. I also use the light/fat free cream cheese and sour cream.
DeleteHow much splenda do you use?
DeleteAnother easy variation is to just mix the grapes with LF sour cream and sprinkle with a little brwn sugar. Single servings are easy!
ReplyDeleteCould you just use Chobani vanilla flavored yogurt?
ReplyDelete@The Nosh Pit- Yes, Splenda would lower the points if you prefer to use it. I personally don't like Splenda but I know a lot of people do.
ReplyDeleteYou could use any fat free Greek yogurt. You could also use low fat sour cream if you prefer, points might be higher. I've linked the original recipe which is much higher in points. This is my modified lower fat version which didn't taste much different from the original.
Looks delish!
ReplyDeleteCould you recalculate points for us using Splenda or (my preference xylitol) or any other non caloric sweetener? Looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering the same thing...I made this for the first time but I used splenda...
DeleteYou don't see many desserts that use grapes, but what a great idea! Definitely going to try this with Splenda...
ReplyDeleteShould you use vanilla or plain chobani yogurt?
ReplyDeleteAccording to the WW site a quarter cup of Agave is only 4 points so using Splenda as a substitute will only take the dish down 1/2 a point per serving.
ReplyDeleteI like Splenda but Agave really does play well with a lot of other ingredients. It's just a little pricey compared to other sweeteners. I only use it for special occasions and use Splenda for day to day things.
Mmm!! Can't wait to try this! I will have to run to the store to pick up grapes!!
ReplyDeleteThis was fantastic! My 3 year old helped me make it, and I can't keep her from sneaking more before her daddy gets home... lol!
ReplyDeletei just made this can not wait to try it after dinner.
ReplyDeleteKnow what I'm making for the potluck Thursday night.
ReplyDeleteYum! I can't wait to try this! My neighbor taught me an awesome trick for slicing grapes in half. Take two same size lids, like sour cream lids and sandwich the grapes in between them and slice down the middle!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip, that should make the recipe much easier and faster to prepare
DeleteMade it last night, it was a success. Thanks for all your great recipes
ReplyDelete@ Guereca Family - Love the trick on cutting grapes!! Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeletedo you think this would work with strawberries or blueberries? maybe mixed together?
ReplyDelete@Dan- Thanks for answering the Splenda question!
ReplyDelete@Jessica, haven't tried it but why not?
This was awesome. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteI have been making this for years and it is one of my FAVE desserts! You are right--it is totally addictive. I can never bring any home after a BBQ because I eat the entire bowl. Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds delightful!
ReplyDeleteMade this last night for a cookout...I think you need to change the name to disappearing creamy grape dessert...hardy har ;) It was a huge hit.
ReplyDelete@Kelly- This is a lightened up version. The original is pretty high in fat.
ReplyDelete@Jessica, I like that name!
I made this for myself and I had to stop myself from eating to much it was sooooo good. I did make a few modifications (no sugars or vanilla)just a packet of lemon crystal light and it was absolutely awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Gina
I made it last night substituting a mix of blueberries and strawberries for the grapes. I also used Splenda and fat free vanilla Greek yogurt. It was awesome! Very creamy, very rich! Wondering how it would taste using fat free cream cheese?
ReplyDeleteI'll have to try that combo out! I'm not a fan of fat free cream cheese AT ALL! If you try it and like it, let me know!
ReplyDeleteGina, this is so absolutely delicious!!! I just made my second batch and am serving it with cake at my daughter's first birthday party tomorrow. My 4 year old (she's Madison Grace like your daughter) is in love with it as well. Thanks for another success!!!
ReplyDelete@Cindy, aww, another Madison Grace, I love it!
ReplyDeleteJust made this dessert and it was awesome! I forgot to buy greek yogurt today so used regular fat free yogurt, which may have added some points. Hopefully not too much more. Im not a big fan of nuts in desserts but the walnuts added such great flavor and texture. I cant wait to make this again. I also tried the zucchini casserole and chicken w/ dijon and lime for dinner today and my boyfriend and I really enjoyed it. Thanks for such great recipes!
ReplyDeleteThe walnuts really make this! Glad you enjoyed all the recipes :)
ReplyDeletethis is just awesome...I have made it twice already and it is delish!!!! Love all your recipes. You are helping me get to my goal!!!
ReplyDeleteI made this exactly as you wrote but added the pecans/brown sugar to each serving dish. We loved it! Thanks for a delicious low point dessert.
ReplyDeleteI made the creamy grapes last night. It was such a treat. Like you said very refreshing and it was a success the whole family liked it, and thats hard to do.
ReplyDeleteWill this keep if i make it for a party the following afternoon?
ReplyDeleteYes, just add the walnuts before serving.
ReplyDeleteMade this today but forgot to slice grapes. It was so delicious, shared with my son and daughter in-law. I plan on making again, but can't just eat one eighth of dish. My bad!!
ReplyDeleteI made this and my husband gobbled it up! I substituted the nuts for grapenuts instead and used splenda brown sugar instead of the regular kind. I will be making again soon!
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing!!! I just made 2 batches (one with and one without nuts). Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteThis was Wonderful.I started WW 3 weeks ago and happy that I found this site.It is a real blessing to me.I love 2 cook different foods and this helps me cook healthy..THANKS A BUNCH!!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't this good! I also like to put this in 8 ramekins to help with keeping the portions all the same to keep me honest! :)
ReplyDeleteOur friends came over for a BBQ and my husband complained that we were having "Grape Salad" for desert. He took one bite and was sold. I am making this tomorrow for a family reunion, I'm sure it will be a big hit.
ReplyDeletelol, it tastes better than it sounds!
ReplyDeleteMy roommate and I took this to a BBQ and everyone was instantly addicted to it. It was such a huge hit, I know we will be making it often. We used pecans because we always have plenty on hand. My roommate's parents are from Tennessee and they keep us well supplied. LOL
ReplyDeleteThis is a test
ReplyDeleteDid you pass? =)
DeleteLOL
DeleteI made this yesterday for a work potluck, and everyone really enjoyed it! I substituted the sugar for honey, and pecans/walnuts for peanuts-which I mixed into the dessert and not on top. and used fat free cream cheese. It was wonderful! It tasted like Taffy Apples!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou cant taste the fat free cream cheese.
I wonder how many points it would be with the substitutes.
Thanks Gina!!! I will be making this again real soon!
But other than substituting everything but the grapes, it was the EXACT same dessert!!
DeleteMade this tonight for Thanksgiving dessert tomorrow. And actually ended up only using 1/2 or 2/3 of the "dressing". However, I'm pretty psyched about that because it will make an AWESOME fruit dip. Thanks!!! - Theresa
ReplyDeleteI just made this using fat free cream cheese and Splenda......DELICIOUS!!!
ReplyDeleteMy MIL makes this and it's amazing!!! Everyone needs to try it. It's a big hit. :D
ReplyDeleteThis sounds great - I was wondering what I could substitute for the walnuts to keep the crunchy topping? LOVE greek yogurt!
ReplyDeleteThe walnuts make this, but pecans maybe?
ReplyDeleteI've been making this for years with cream cheese, sour cream and Splenda (I'm diabetic). My 9 yr old niece calls it "crack grapes"! I think I will give your recipe a try since I just started Weight Watchers and I will take all the help keeping up with points I can get!
ReplyDelete"Crack grapes" is a very fitting name!
ReplyDeleteMade this for our Super Bowl Party today, BIG HIT! Thanks!
ReplyDeletehow many pts plus is this?
ReplyDeleteTry it with toasted pecans! Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHello my name is Umar
ReplyDeletethe weight watchers Points Plus value for this is 6 pts per serving
ReplyDeleteIt's only six if you add the grapes in. The recipe builder takes the total NI even with free fruits and veg to create the PP+. Leave out the grapes, it's 4.
DeleteI made this yesterday for a family get together and my sister in law, Mom & I devoured it. So delicious! This is going to be a staple for me. But I will have to get some ramikins to keep myself honest!
ReplyDeleteKeri
Smart idea!!
ReplyDeleteCan you just make this with vanilla greek yogurt and leave out the sugar or honey? Not sure why you would need the extra sweet?
ReplyDeleteI follow "The Lean Belly Prescription" weight loss plan and this looks perfect for a snack. Snacks, if you follow this book, should be made of three parts: a protein, a fruit or vegetable, and something else from the same or a different food group. This has yogurt for a protein, grapes for the fruit, and walnuts for a fat/protein. Can't wait to make it! :)
ReplyDeleteMade this yesterday for a Mothers day get together with my family (30 people). It was insanely easy to make and tasted fabulous!!!! Everyone loved it! Thank you for the recipe!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI just made this recipe and it is simply delicious! I can't wait to share it with friends and family!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it wonderful!
ReplyDeleteDelicious! I made this with vanilla flavored Greek yogurt (My store didn't have much to choose from) It was phenomenal. My sister has made the full fat version in the past (including snickers pieces instead of walnuts and brown sugar) but this was just as good. Thanks for all of these great recipes!
ReplyDeleteIt's fabulous even without putting the sugar substitute in!! A little more creamcheese and it's fun to add a flavored yogurt for a little extra pop. The weightwatchers yogurts are nice and creamy when added.
ReplyDeletesince most fruits are seedless it means that the nutritional value also diminishes as science has made it hybrid. That is why people are not so healthy as in the past. Seedless grapes, oranges, pomegranates, watermelon etc. If a recipe requires seeds like pomegranates it is difficult to find, how does one go about it.
ReplyDeleteThis is the most amazing "salad" (really a dessert in disguise!). A male teacher brought this to a luncheon and several of us went back for 4 - 5 helpings, ignoring all the other salads and desserts - then we begged him for the recipe! It's my new favorite indulgence, and I am happy to find this skinny version for my WW menus! "Crack grapes" indeed . . . it's true!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great recipe. I made it closer to the recipezaar recipe and substituting it with fat free cream cheese, fat free sour cream and splends and it works wonderfully. I also never cut the grapes and it works the same. The original recipe I used put crushed butterfinger, brown sugar and crushed pecans, so it was like a caramel apple. Yum, but bad. I left out the butterfinger to lighten it up.
ReplyDeleteThis is so delicious. I've served it several times for dessert and since there's only two of us, I make two servings and there's no temptation to have more than we should. Great recipe!
ReplyDeleteI haven't made this before but was wondering if this would this be good thing to bring to a brunch potluck? Or woudl it be better for after dinner dessert?
ReplyDeleteThis is a dessert but I think it would also be a great addition to a brunch!
ReplyDeleteYou make it sound easy and look so good
ReplyDeleteThis one is a must try!!
ReplyDeleteMy 83 year-old mother loves this stuff! She usually stirs in the pecans (they grow on the trees in her yard) and leaves off the brown sugar. It is very good with the brown sugar, but we prefer a less sweet salad and eat along with the meal or for dessert.
ReplyDeleteMy nephew is allergic to nuts. Any ideas on what I might substitute?
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing for myself (nut allergy). All that really came to my mind was quick oats. Would increase the carb count some, but decrease the fat. Hmmmm....
DeleteHow about crushed pretzels?
DeleteOr granola? Grape Nuts?
DeleteI added these to my super bowl inspiration post:
ReplyDeletehttp://athriftydiva.com/2012/01/31/super-bowl-snacks-inspiration/
adorable :)
so very divine, I have a version kind of like this that has Butterfinger Candy Bars...
ReplyDeleteCould I make this the night before without the taste being altered or nuts getting soggy?
ReplyDeleteI am thinking instead of nuts possibly using special K granola.
DeleteI made this recipe for my family last night and everyone loved it! Even my husband who is picky. I made the recipe a little smaller since my kids are young and we are a small family. I used 1 and a half pounds of grapes (mix of red and green) 4oz light cream cheese and 4oz of fat free vanilla greek yogurt. to that I added 1/4 cup of sugar. next time I will use 1/8 cup sugar and 1/8 cup splenda. I kept the topping the same using the brown sugar and pecans. Thank you so much for this recipe. I had never heard of this before but i will definitely be making it again and again. It is so refreshing. it really is so versatile, a person can adjust the ingredient to fit their taste and health needs.
ReplyDeleteI made this yesterday, but with less sugar and it was AMAZING. It's so good that I'll have to make smaller batches, so I won't eat it all by myself.
ReplyDeleteI just made this! So delicious! I actually caramelized the walnuts with the brown sugar for a crunchier topping.
ReplyDeleteI made this today and it was wonderful!!! The hubby and kids loved it too! I don't know if there will be any left when I get home from work in the morning lol Thank you so much for starting this website. I've been on WW since Nov. 2011 and I've lost 48lb. and now that I've found your site I don't get bored with food anymore. And everything I make my family loves too. Thank you so much for helping me thru this weight loss journey! You've literally changed my life with this!
ReplyDeleteI use truvia instead of splenda or sugar. Its a natural sweetner from a plant and I feel it is the most healthy option when sweetening anything :) This looks so yummy! I really want to try this! I think I would also skip the nuts just because i dont like them!
ReplyDeleteThat's not really true...do some research on it.
DeleteRaw honey is a lot healthier and more beneficial than Splenda. Splenda is full of artificial chemicals. Raw honey is safe for diabetics to use when combined with protein and a complex carbohydrate (like the grapes). In fact, it helps lower blood sugar! By the way, raw honey is not the same as processed honey.
ReplyDeleteI made this last weekend for my parents when they came to visit. Now my mom doesn't like yogurt AT ALL, so I didn't tell her what was in it ahead of time. Afterwards, she wanted to know what made it so tasty, so I confessed! Then last night she called for the actual recipe so she could take it to a family dinner today!! That is REAL PRAISE from my mama. She has been in the food business for almost 50 years!!
ReplyDeleteI make an even lighter version of this recipe. My sounds a bit more strange this this one, but it is amazingly delicious:
ReplyDeletegrapes (red or green)
Chobani Greek yogurt
crushed pecan or walnut pieces
sugar free maple syrup to taste
Mix together and enjoy.
could you recommend a substitute for the nuts? my husband is allergic.
ReplyDeleteThe nuts really make it, but maybe granola?
Deletemy mom has made this for years and is ALWAYS a hit! I think she used sour cream instead of greek yogurt thou, because it was not around! I'm sure this tastes just as great! I will have to make it soon!
ReplyDeletehow much is one serving?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely delicious!! I used to make the full fat version with sour cream and cream cheese. Today I added 8 oz of the fat free plain greek yogurt, fat free cream cheese, the vanilla and instead of sugar I used 1/8 cup of Truvia. I also used pecans instead of walnuts, because that is what i had in the house. My family is used to the full fat version and honestly they could not tell the difference. It is hard to stop eating it, but with all the protein in the greek yogurt it does keep you full longer than most "desserts." This is an awesome site, THanks Gina, so glad I found you.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I know this dessert is delicious!
DeleteHi there. I had this for the first time at a party a few years back. I was blogging about the recipe for the full fat version but linked to your blog and used your picture with more links back here in case they wanted the lower fat version of the recipe.
ReplyDeletehttp://clevercraftycookinmama.blogspot.com/2012/06/creamy-grape-salad.html
Thanks so much.
Thanks!
DeleteGina! I just made this, and it is so yummy! It's been over 100 degrees here for a week or so now, and this is such a nice, cold, refreshing snack! I think it would be great with some granola on top for a quick breakfast on the go (stick it in a cup and your done!) Thanks so much for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteAddictively good on a hot sumer day...thank you for sharing this recipe.
ReplyDeleteI had the original version at a get-together, and loved it! To cut calories, etc., I use 4 ingredients: fat-free plain Chobani yogurt, grapes, about a teaspoon of brown sugar, and pecans. You seriously cannot tell the difference and you won't miss the cream cheese at all.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see it here, because it's my lunch of choice this week, and it just tastes too good to be healthy :)
FYI - the above is just for single servings - I don't really measure, but it comes out great!
DeleteI made this for a family reunion this weekend and everyone loved it! Thanks for another great recipe!
ReplyDeleteOMG! I made this today and it is really good..smacking my lips good....I used splenda instead and it was yummy to my taste buds...I can't wait till I eat dinner so I can have a couple servings....:-) Thanks Gina, you are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThis says serving size is 1/8 so does that mean 1/8 of a cup...This is where I get confused on how much I can have...
ReplyDeleteI am confused what the exact serving size is also, I know it says 1/8 of the recipe but what does that equal to?
ReplyDeleteGreat way to use grapes which I buy weekly so always have. I did add 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice to my filling.
ReplyDeletewhat can I use instead of pecans or walnuts...they would kill my husband...
ReplyDeleteto anonymous: granola? or maybe crispy (oven toasted) steel cut or quick oats?
ReplyDeleteI made a lighter version of the recipe...I used fage non-fat Greek yogurt, left out the cream cheese, sweetened with stevia, and also sprinkled cinnamon on top of walnuts...adds wonderful flavor. If making a serving for one person use 15 grapes and 1 tablespoon of yogurt=97cal/serving.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant way to sneak yogurt past someone who refuses to eat it!
ReplyDeleteLooks delicious! My kids love grapes so this will definitely be a winner!
ReplyDeleteI made a recipe the same except I used apples and grapes. It was call Autumn Apple & Grape Medley. Yum, I took it to our family reunion and it was gone in no time.
ReplyDeleteThis recipe looks great and I really want to make it. However, my daughter is allergic to nuts. Can I substitute anything for the nuts to keep the taste and consistency relatively intact? Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteChow Mein noodles chopped with a knife should work. One of my friends with nut allergies uses them all the time. I know it sounds weird but they really work. Just be sure to add them only right before serving. She also uses Grape Nuts. But you might want to check the labels to make sure both aren't made with or processed with nuts. She might buy a specific brand.
DeleteSunflower seeds are great if not included in allergies.
DeleteI made this tonight for my bible study group...ok I almost had to snatch it away!!!! They kept going back and I had not had any yet!!!!! LOOOOOOL!!!! They loved it! I see why you say "can be doubled" bc you will need more! Great recipe and thank you for a healthy good dessert! I used sugar just 1/8th cup and added cinnamon and a little nutmeg and lemon juice.
ReplyDeleteGarlic Girl
i love this and i love sharing it with people! :) especially my picky mother in law. thanks, gina!
ReplyDeleteTwo thumbs up! I have made the full-fat version in the past and this tastes the same without any of the guilt! I didn't cut my grapes in half (so as not to produce any extra moisture). Thanks for another winner of a recipe!!!! You're the best!
ReplyDeleteI add Granny Smith Apples to mine because grapes are so expensive plus it adds that little tart taste with the sweet that I love. My family and church ladies love this!
ReplyDeleteHi Gina, cannot wait to try this. Just wondering if honey would work in place of the agave? I love all your recipes, keep them coming!
