I love this quick and easy Chicken Cordon Bleu recipe made all in one skillet. There’s no breading, rolling or frying, all the ingredients are layered right in the skillet. An easy weeknight chicken breast recipe your family will LOVE! If you want a more traditional recipe that’s baked in the oven, try this Baked Chicken Cordon Bleu. This is great with roasted asparagus, risotto or serve this with rice pilaf.

This EASY Skillet Chicken Cordon Bleu is made with thin sliced boneless chicken cutlets, lightly pan fried then topped with ham and swiss in a light Lemon-Dijon Sauce. No rolling!

When I was a kid, my Mom learned how to make Chicken Cordon Bleu in a cooking class she took. Like me, she always loved to cook. I loved that dish so much I used to ask her to make it for me weekly, which she breaded and fried.

Why This Works

I don’t believe you have to give up the foods you love because you’re trying to eat healthier. This healthier Chicken Cordon Bleu recipe has the same flavors and ingredients as the stuffed, deep-fried version, without the frying and breading, and it takes a fraction of the time to make which makes this a weeknight dinner win!

Ingredients

  • Chicken: thin sliced boneless skinless chicken breast
  • For Coating: kosher salt, all purpose flour or gluten-free flour
  • For Cooking: melted butter and olive oil
  • For Layering: sliced ham, light Swiss cheese
  • Chicken cordon bleu sauce: chicken broth, fresh lemon juice and Dijon mustard

How To Make Easy Cordon Bleu

If you chicken cutlets are not thin, start by pounding them thin with a meat mallet between sheets of plastic wrap.

What side dishes go good with chicken cordon bleu?

You’ll want your chicken dish to be the star of the show, so keep the sides simple. Serve it with brown rice or keep it low-carb with roasted vegetables such as asparagus, Roasted Broccoli with Smashed Garlic, or Roasted Parmesan Green Beans.

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Season chicken with salt and pepper, to taste.
  • Place the flour in a shallow dish. Lightly dredge the chicken with flour on both sides, shaking off the excess reserving the flour.
  • In a small bowl combine the chicken broth, lemon juice, Dijon mustard and 1 teaspoon of the reserved flour, whisk until smooth.
  • Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Melt the butter and add 1 teaspoon of the olive oil and half of the chicken.
  • Cook 2 minutes on each side, until slightly golden, then transfer to a dish.
  • Add remaining 1/2 teaspoon olive oil and remaining chicken and cook 2 minutes on each side.
  • Set aside on a dish with the other pieces of chicken.
  • Reduce the heat to medium-low, add the chicken broth mixture. Whisk scraping up any bits stuck to the pan then simmer 2 minutes to reduce slightly.
  • Return the chicken to the skillet, top each piece with a slice of ham and a slice of swiss, cover the skillet and simmer medium-low for 3 to 4 minutes until the cheese melts.
  • To serve use a spatula and transfer the chicken to each dish, spoon the remaining sauce over each piece.

  1. I love this recipe! I’ve been making it a few years now, and again tonight. It’s easy and delicious!

  2. This whipped up very quickly! It was excellent! Made exactly as directed. Served it over rice and with pan roasted asparagus. It’s going in the rotation.

  3. Skillet Chicken Cordon Bleu is one of my favorite recipes. I usually always have all the ingredients on hand. It’s a great recipe for weeknights or special occasions.

  4. Family fave for us! My kids always ask for this meal. I serve it with angel hair pasta and triple the sauce recipe!

  5. Very tasty and not too many ingredients needed. If you don’t have low sodium ham and low sodium broth, I suggest not salting the chicken

I have used this recipe so many times and it ALWAYS turns out so good! I love how easy i can throw it together. Bonus points: my 2 and 4 year old love it too! it’s a win win in my book!

This is so good that I’ve made it two Sundays in a row! The Dijon and lemon really bring out all of the flavors. I serve with a side of roasted asparagus topped with a little lemon juice.

  8. Very good recipe! I did need more oil and butter to brown the chicken, but less flour. 2 tbs of butter and 2 tbs of oil. It did raise the overall calories to max. 358, but still low and so much easier to brown the chicken. Otherwise I was dealing with a dry pan. Drained the chicken on paper towel and poured off any remaining fat before I made the sauce so calories are truly lower than 358.

  9. This was an amazing recipe! So simple, but tasted so yummy. I didn’t change a thing. Made as is. Brilliant.

  10. Love this easy and tasty recipe. I double the amount and finish cooking it in a pan in the oven. Fantastic leftovers!

  11. Delicious! I added a few mushrooms to my skillet. Great weeknight dinner that looks like you fussed.

  12. I’m a long time Skinnytaste recipe user, and I can’t believe I haven’t done this one until now. I was in a recipe rut and looking for something fast with minimal prep: this fit the bill perfectly. My family loved it. Will definitely make again!

Such a delicious yet simple recipe. I make half the recipe of chicken but the full amount of sauce to flavor a bed of rice and serve with either roasted asparagus or broccoli with lemon vinaigrette. A meal I always look forward to!

  14. This was absolutely delicious (especially the sauce) and very easy to make on a weeknight. I made one batch without the ham & cheese for my kids who don’t like ham & made a 2nd batch for the rest of us – but you can easily just do one batch and add the ham & cheese to the cutlets you want.

Love this recipe. Can this be frozen? I have enough leftovers for another meal and we’re going away tomorrow.

  16. This is a delicious meal I make again and again. I have made it for family and for company and it’s wonderful. I serve it with the asparagus and quinoa.

  17. This was soo good – and REALLY quick and easy! The perfect weeknight meal. My husband said he has never been a fan on Chicken Cordon Bleu but he actually loved this! I will definitely make it again.

  18. I wanted to love this dish, but was very disappointed. The strong taste of mustard ruined the dish for us. I’ve made many of Gina’s recipes and have never been disappointed until this one.

  19. I am planning on making this tomorrow. My chicken breasts are not this thin- how would you adjust cooking time? After browning them, should I put them in the oven to cook a little longer and finishing in the pan?

  20. This was quick, easy and delicious. Now part of our rotation. I appreciate the skinnytaste recipes. I don’t have to make food just for me while watching my figure.

  21. Made this exactly according to the recipe. Quick and easy too! Would double the sauce next time because it’s so yummy. It was scrumptious and my family loved it! Thanks for another awesome recipe.

  22. I LOVE Skinnytaste recipes. Skillet Chicken Cordon Bleu is one of the recipes I turn to time and again. If you have not tried it start cooking you will not regret it :o)

  23. This one is a KEEPER!!!!!!! Great taste and SO EASY!!!!! Will definitely add to my weekly rotation!!! Everyone LOVED it! Great flavor!!!

  24. I made this for dinner and it was great.  I had everything to make it (which is a huge deal for me).  It was light and tasty.  The olive oil and butter together was a great idea.  This will be a regular fare for us going forward.  So easy and taste great.  I paired with roasted asparagus.

  25. A lot of recipes that say they are quick to make are anything but. Even a ST recipe I made last night that was supposed to take 30 min to make took me well over an hour when prep was taken into account. This is a truly easy and fast dish to make. There is almost no prep involved so it can be done in 20 minutes from start to finish.
I cooked this pretty much exactly as written and it was flavorful and juicy. The only part that gave me a little pause was that once cooked, the ham slips off the chicken very easily because there is nothing binding it to the chicken. I might add a little square of cheese before placing the ham next time to help with that, but other than that I was a fan of this. My 5 year old son was a fan too!

  26. This recipe is a family favorite! I’m wondering if there is a way to make this in to a freezer meal that we can share with other families when they have a need. Any tips on how that might work?

  27. Absolutely fantastic I will make this again and tell all
my WW friends. Once again Gina has knocked it out
of the park. This is just another very tasty recipe I’ve tried
from Skinny Taste. Thank you Gina for all your hard work.

  28. We loved this! It brought me back to my best friend’s house in the 80s! So good! But I would definitely make a bit more sauce next time. And cook the chicken longer before putting it with the sauce.

  29. This is one of my favorites. So easy and so tasty. I agree that the searing is a bit longer, but still a quick weeknight hit!

  30. I wish I had also made couscous, rice, or another grain to soak up the delicious juice. Very good. Next time I will use a higher quality ham. Easy to make.

  31. This was delicious. Definitely took longer to cook all the way through than 4 min even using thin sliced.

    Wonderful dish!!

  32. Yum and way easier than having to roll! I will be making this one again for sure. I used shredded aged white cheddar, added some fresh thyme to the sauce and then broiled the chicken to finish it instead of steaming the cheese. I served it with roasted asparagus and mashed potatoes. Really, really good stuff!

  33. I didn’t have a lemon or dijon so I used 1 T white wine and 1/4 tsp dry mustard. The sauce was so light and flavorful. I served with mashed sweet potatoes and a garden salad.

  34. Holy Macaroni!  This was a 1st place hit!  I couldn’t begin to tell you how great this was. I wouldn’t change a thing!

  35. We made these last night and they were easy and delicious 🤤 I highly recommended giving this recipe a try if you haven’t already!

  36. Made this recipe tonight for dinner and when my husband and I took our first bites, we looked at each other and said……Wow! It is delicious! I didn’t have Swiss in the fridge so used Mozzarella. The sauce is AMAZING! Definitely adding to our roster.

  37. I was drawn to this recipe because it was Friday night and I wanted to cook something light, quick, and delicious. Initially I was skeptical; the ingredient list isn’t complicated and the prep/cook time is pretty quick. Can something so easy be delicious?? YES…YES IT CAN. I followed the recipe as written and was completely satisfied, thanks Skinnytaste for another winner!!! Yum!!!!

  38. YUM! Delicious, quick & easy. I love one pan cooking. Your recipes are cooked weekly in our home. Thank you!!

  39. This came out really great!
I used what I had on hand- some leftover Honeybaked ham and some chicken breasts that needed to be used. Super easy to make and really yummy.

Another great one from Skinny Taste!

  40. Truly the perfect week night meal. I used almond flour to dredge the chicken and it crisped nicely. The sauce was so flavorful! Definitely will make this again.

Just served this to my family. Everyone loved it. We will be adding this to our standard meals! (/even the non-chicken eater ate his whole serving)

  42. This is another staple of my “go to recipes”. So simple, easy and quick and absolutely delicious. I love the pan sauce. It compliments the chicken, ham and cheese so well.

  43. I made this recipe tonight – DELICIOUS!!!!!!  My husband could not believe that it was “healthy” because it tasted so good. I served it with rice pilaf and brocoli.  Thanks Gina for a wonderful recipe!!

  44. Enjoyed this dish with my wife last night. This is a very nice weeknight meal, served with rice.
I make a pretty good classic Cordon Bleu… but on a Tuesday or Wednesday night this is the one moving forward.

  45. Made this last night. I was a little skeptical but OMG… it was so good. I made the Skinny Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes with Chives also, perfect combination!

  46. This was a huge hit in our house tonight. I had fresh cabbage that I sauteed in the extra sauce and mmt family loved it!

  47. Absolutely delicious! I made it just as the recipe called and it was amazing! I served it with the roasted broccoli with smashed garlic (also a ST recipe) and some roasted golden potatoes. This will definitely become part of our regular rotation!

  48. DELICIOUS !  I added a slice of tomato , fresh spinach , ham and reduced fat Swiss . My family loved it. I also made zucchini noodles with fresh cauliflower and sautéed onions . I used chicken broth and very little butter and oil . Very tasteful and healthy.

  49. This dish is delicious and easy to make.  Didn’t have to run out to buy any weird ingredients. Can see that this is going to be a dinner staple.  I did pound the chicken to flatten it out before putting it in almond flour.

  50. My kids all for this every week! I used mozzarella instead of swiss. Instead of cutlets, I place chicken breasts between plastic wrap and pound them flatter with a kitchen mallet.

We just finished eating this and it was a huge hit! Hubby had wanted me to make traditional Cordon Bleu but I was having a bad pain day and when I found this I knew I could handle it. Kids are kind of picky so I used a shredded cheese blend for theirs and the Swiss for us. 8 thumbs up.

  53. This is absolutely delicious. And so easy.  I didn’t have have so used deli turkey and it was still wonderful.  This is a repeat for us.  I love healthy tasty recipes! Yum!

  54. Love this! I used to make it, roll it up the chicken etc etc. This is so wonderful, the taste without the hard work. Thank you!

  55. Just made this for the first time. Was scared to let my husband know what I was cooking, he does not care for ham or swiss. It was a HUGE success! He took one bite and said “oh my this melts in your mouth” So it will be going into rotation.

  56. I’m making this tonight. I Plan on making it with baby spinach. Do you think I can cook it in the sauce or separately?

  57. This is quick, easy and absolutely delicious! I served it with orzo with lemon, parmesan and peas and roasted asparagus! Thank you Gina for another great recipe.  This is definitely a keeper and will be making often.

  58. This recipe is absolutely delicious.  We loved it! I served it with Lemon Orzo with parmesan and peas and roasted asparagus. My husband asked me to be sure to add it to the list of keepers. Last night we had the Fish Florentine and loved that too!  2 definite winners for me!!  Thank you, Gina!

  59. I was very surprised at how well you’re pan worked – no sticking! What type of pan is it? Thank you for this recipe – I’m going to gather the ingredients and make it this week! 🙂

  60. I didn’t use cutlets, I just sliced a thicker chicken breast in thirds. Is Is it supposed to be completely cooked through in the 4 mins on the skillet? I don’t think mine cooked all the way through.

  61. One of my favorites. Very easy. Shared it with my landlady and after eating it she told me to look away as she slurped up the residual sauce on her plate.
To save time, I recommend buying the cutlets already sliced thin. I think it was Purdue brand that had then pre-sliced.

I’ve made this twice now. My littlest, pickiest eaters have loved it as much as I have. Super easy and delicious., instead on salt I used Tony’s.

  63. This was amazing!! I never thought I liked Chicken Cordon Bleu until now lol regular rotation for sure!
Next time I won’t season the chicken with salt first though because I found the ham made it pretty salty 🙂
I served with your roasted Asparagus as well!

  64. Had this tonight… very good! Served it with a sweet potatoe and roasted cauliflower and broccoli. I usually always have ham and Swiss cheese. Nice when you have all the ingredients. I look for recipes that fits my pantry… Will definetly make it again…

  66. Had my eye on this one for a while now and finally got around to making it. Wish I had made it sooner!! So good! The sauce really tops it off!

I made this tonight. We are watching our carb and salt intake. This was easy, fast, and pretty on the plate. I pounded all the chicken breasts so they were of a uniform thickness; and instead of salt I used Mrs. Dash. I really didn’t think the sauce would be good because there weren’t many ingredients..but I was so wrong. I am also going to try this with thin cut well trimmed port loin.

Thanks so much…this healthy entrée is good enough for company.

  68. I’ve now made this two nights in a row after the rave reviews at the dinner table last night. So delicious that it felt like a guilty pleasure. The only substitute I made was lean (already cooked) turkey bacon for the ham – it was what I had on hand. And it turned out to be amazing. Served it with your Creamy Cauliflower Puree & roasted asparagus since it looked so good in your photos. This is a new favorite in my house & will be added to the rotation. Thanks, Gina!

  69. Hubby doesn’t like most of the food that I’ve been cooking since being on WW, however he said this was really good. Winner!

  70. This was beyond delicious! Might be my favorite recipe of yours so far!  My kids enjoyed it too, which is a major bonus!  I think next time I’ll double the sauce and add it to some cauliflower rice! Yummmmm!

  71. Kim- Have you ever tried soy flour? I wouldnt use it very often just because i hear soy can mess with hormones, but i think its keto approved.

  72. If you wanted to try and make this somewhat keto approved, what would you recommend to use for the flour without changing the taste? Almond flour…..I’m not certain. This is a family favorite in my house and I am trying to go easy keto.

  73. This is one of our favorite recipes, skinny or not!  I could eat it every week, it’s that good, and easy. Thank you for all your great recipes and the help you provide in meal planning.

  74. This was so good I couldn’t believe *I* made it =) This is easily one of my favorite ST recipes so far! I was craving something different than my usual flavor profile and this was perfect. DELICIOUS, yet easy enough to throw together on a busy weeknight–or even better to impress company with! Family loved it.
    Another hit from Gina <3

  75. Thank you for publishing all your tasty recipes.  Cooking your way usually gets remarks like “this is yummy, tastes great, and can you make this again?” Today was in chorus, can we have this again tomorrow? And it is truly a quick and easy to prepare meal where all the ingredients are staples in my kitchen.  Thanks again

  76. Another fabulous recipe and simple. We loved the sauce. Our adult son who is a picky eater went back for seconds. Thanks again

  77. OMG! This dish was amazing! Made this last night and my husband loved it. Will def make this again!!!

  78. This is the best recipe I have ever made (healthy or not.) The fact that it is lower calorie is just the bonus!

  79. I made this last week and my husband loved it!! (he’s kind of a picky eater!) So easy and so delicious!

  80. I’ve made this twice, and we loved it so much and it was so easy,…I am going to try and make it for my daughters homecoming dinner (for 90 kids) Anyone have any suggestions?

  81. Made this for dinner tonight.  Served with noodles and asparagus. Doubled the recipe and used white wine (moscato) instead of lemon juice.  (Apparently, I put the lemons in someone else’s grocery cart.)

This will be cooked again!  Delicious.. good enough to serve company and easy enough for a weeknight dinner.

This recipe is absolutely amazing! I’ve made it several times with Boars Head Maple Glazed Honey Ham and Swiss cheese and it’s just perfect!! A great weeknight dinner. I make this with oven roasted broccoli and mashed potatoes. Yum! Thanks for all of your fantastic recipes, Gina!

  83. I don’t normally respond to blog postings, but last night I tried this recipe, and it was AWESOME!!! The sauce was so yummy! Chicken nice and tender. My husband tiredly licked the sauce from his plate! I have pinned it, because I’ll never find it again.
Thanks so much! LOVED the chicken cordon bleu!!

  84. Had a plan to make this for dinner this week; was running late and sent the recipe to my husband who made it for us! (such a treat!) We ALL (including my 6yo) LOVED it! Typically chicken cordon bleu is a pretty “fatty” dish in our household… breaded and fried served with a delicious heavy cream sauce. Since joining Weight Watchers and trying to get my family to eat a bit healthier we are trying to find “replacement” recipes.. and this one is definitely a keeper! The chicken was “breaded” delicately and flavored just right! The sauce was delicious (we added more lemon juice because we LOVE those lemons!)! It was an overall very tasty dish. Thanks again Gina! 😉

  85. Made these last night and turned out awesome. I’ve been looking for an easy chicken cordon blue recipe for a while and this finally fit the bill. I didn’t have Dijon in the house so I used honey mustard. It was amazing!

  86. Made this last night for lunch for my boyfriend and I. I got an email from my boyfriend if this was his “healthy meal” cause it tastes too good to be healthy. I must say I am eating my portion now and it is pretty d**n amazing!!! Thanks for the recipe. 🙂

  87. This  is definitely a winner! Not only is it tasty, but it’s easy to prepare and quick. I got out of my exercise class, stopped by a department store, came home and still got dinner on the table in under 30 minutes and got the kids to bed on time.  What’s more is everyone around the table approved of this recipe and said it was definitely a keeper. Thank you!

So simple and so delish. I was surprised how really good it was. I’ve recommended the recipe to family and friends. I used provolone and black forest ham since it’s what I had on hand.  I’ll be making this again for sure.  Note:  I did have to,use more oil than the recipe called for.

    1. What about vegetable broth? Or if you can find bullion cubes that would probably work fine. Otherwise, you can always make it yourself and freeze what you don’t use in ice cube trays or other containers for later.

  89. Looking forward to making this in the next few days. Was considering pairing it with the asparagus with Dijon mustard sauce you also have on your site… What else would you suggest to go with it? Side dish? Salad?

  90. I’ve been looking for new recipes to add to the family dinner rotation. This one is greater! I’ve made it twice now, and we all love it.

  91. I want to make this for 8 people but don’t have the pans. Can I do it all and then put it in oven to simmer? How long and what temp would you suggest?

  92. This is one of my Skinny Taste favorites (so far – can’t wait to try more of the Latin-inspired dishes). It’s also really good leftover. I re-heated it in a foil packet for a few minutes in the oven and made an open-faced sandwich with tomato and spinach. Definitely a winner!

  93. Love Love Loved it1 I’m not a fan of the breast, so I bought skinless-boneless thighs. I pounded them out. My kids turned up their picky noses, but once they tried them, they were all eaten up.

It’s part of the first step – seasoning the chicken with salt and pepper before placing flour on it 🙂

  94. This is, by far, my FAVORITE recipe I’ve made so far. Quick and so so delicious, I’ve been craving it daily since I made it. Definitely will be making weekly! I’ve been making a lot of ST recipes since I joined WW on 1/19 and have lost over 6 lbs in 2 weeks. Thank you Gina for putting the work in and creating these delicious recipes and posting with SP 🙂

  95. I cooked this for dinner last night and it was amazing. I love a good, easy recipe and this one fits the bill. Both my daughter and husband loved it and I’m adding it to my rotation. Thanks for a great, easy recipe. 🙂

  96. I’m not a great lover of mustard so halved it and I used mozzarella so that I could avoid a trip to the shop.  Delicious, I’m loving your recipes Gina.

  97. Just made this for dinner, oh my goodness, delicious!! Very simple to make and turned out awesome! My hubby is always nervous about chicken, but he agrees it’s a keeper.

  98. Love how easy this one is and how the whole family loves it! Even the pickiest of eaters in our family gobble this one up. This is in our regular rotation now, thanks!

  99. Made this for dinner tonight. Started low carb today and this was totally satisfying. Just cut the dredge in flour part, but I didn’t  feel like it was missing anything. Delicious!

This was excellent!  It was easy and quick to get on the table for my family.  I have Celiac Disease and used my gluten-free flour to coat the chicken and to make the sauce.  Worked well for both!  Will definitely make again!  Thanks Gina for another great recipe!

  102. This was really delish… didn’t miss the breading at all. Will definitely make again and again.

The sauce was so tasty. I served our dinner with steamed cauliflower and broccoli. I ate the leftover veggies the next day with left over sauce. So good! I will make the sauce again just for veggies..

  103. I would like to make this for a friend who’s not been well.  Would it be ok to make it ahead and reheat? Or freeze?

  104. This was delicious, just like every recipe of yours I’ve tried! I have also made your chicken cordon blue rollatini recipe but this one was preferred by all, including 3 picky kiddos. I usually prefer to bake my chicken because it turns out moist, is easy and allows me to prepare my sides while it bakes but this skillet version was so fast and easy and ended up moist and delicious that I’ll make it this way from now on. The sauce was so awesome, I drizzled it over the green beans I served on the side and it was delicious, sort of like a hollandaise. Everyone liked this so much and it was so easy I’m considering making it for our Christmas dinner. Thanks for another awesome recipe!

  105. Made this for dinner tonight. Absolutely delicious! My fiance is very picky about his chicken. He prefers it breaded, but he went back for seconds tonight! Thanks so much for all of your delicious healthy recipes!

  106. Just had this for dinner tonight. Probably the best chicken cordon bleu I’ve ever had. I loved the little tang of lemon juice from the sauce. Used provolone just cuz it’s what I had on hand. And what an easy recipe! I threw this together in less than 30 minutes. Had it with roasted asparagus just like you did 🙂 Will be making over and over!

  107. So do you just use regular boneless chicken breast and pound them out? Sorry dumb question I know. Also someone mentioned crockpot tortilla soup. ..can you link recipe olease?

  108. This was really good and super easy to make! My 8 and 4 year olds cleaned their plates! Thanks for all your great recipes!

I made this over the weekend and WOW! I felt like I made a gourmet dinner, but it was so quick and easy! My 19 month old at all of his portion and even my picky teenager said it was ‘ok’… but of course she ate her entire piece so that ‘ok’ really meant FABULOUS in her world. Haha. This is going on our regular rotation. Oh and because my husband wasn’t feeling well and didn’t eat, I ate his piece the next day for lunch and was shocked at how delicious it was reheated. I generally don’t like chicken dishes reheated in the microwave.

  110. Have made this several times–it is so good, easy & goes together quickly!  One of my favorite ways to eat chicken!!

  111. I made this tonight!! So delish!! Instead of cooking the sauce in with the chicken I kept them separate since my husband doesn’t like sauces. I put the chicken with the ham and cheese on top for a minute to melt the cheese. I served it with fresh sautéed green beans. I love your recipes!! I’ve also noticed that most recipes are simple and usually pretty quick to make.

  112. Can I omit the stove top and put these all in a pan in the oven?  If so, suggestion on time and temp.

  113. Oh my goodness, this was wonderful! The only tweak I made was I added lemon pepper to my chicken seasoning because I really like lemon flavor.
Thanks Gina for yet another delicious recipe to throw in the rotation!

  114. LOVE this recipe!! Made it for dinner a week or so ago and then again last night for our bi-weekly “Family Dinner Night”. Last night this included several extra “family” which we always love – served 16 I believe. The best part is that I was able to prepare the chicken cutlets and the sauce ahead of time and then just reheated it all just before serving. I look for recipes I don’t have to be in the kitchen for the whole evening and can join in the fun! I laid out the 25 cutlets on sheet trays and poured in some chicken bone broth, covered each cutlet with the ham and cheese, covered the sheet tray in foil and reheated in the oven. It worked perfectly and the chicken was SO moist and tender!

Your recipes are easy to prepare, healthier than most and always full of flavor! Thank you!

  115. Made this delicious dish last night. It certainly didn’t disappoint…easy, simple ingredients and directions, low cal/fat and great flavor! My fiance who isn’t watching his waistline had two servings and loved this dish so much that he kept inquiring throughout the evening if there was more in the kitchen. I thought we were going to have to fight for the piece I saved for my lunch today. Looking forward to making this dish again and again and trying more recipes from this blog. Happy find!

  116. Thank you so much for this recipe.  I made it tonight and it is delicious.  The recipe is easy but it tastes like a recipe that needed a great deal of work.  This is definitely a recipe I will make again–and again.

  117. I made this tonight for the 4th or 5th time.  We LOVE it!!  It comes together so quickly and the sauce, or the sauce!!  This is definitely a part of our regular rotation!!

  118. What a wonderful recipe. I have made this twice now, and not only is it easy but it is husband approved! Thanks!

  119. This is by far my favorite chicken cordon bleu recipe – skinny or not!! Thank you for all of the incredible recipes 🙂

  120. I made this last night and used 1/3c white wine and 1/3 cup chicken broth.  It was very flavorful and we all enjoyed it.  This recipe came together very quickly since I had all of the ingredients already.  I paired it with leftover sweet potatoes and carrots.  It looked like a gourmet meal!!
Thank you Gina for creating healthy recipes that are designed for busy families.

  121. would like to also know , if not a mustard fan, should we leave out?  Can you taste the mustard in the sauce?
    tnx

    sue

    1. My daughter does not use *ANY* condiments EVER!!  She LOVES this and we just had it again tonight.  You cannot taste the mustard in the sauce but it adds a wonderful flavor.

  122. Miss Gina I made this for my husband who is on week one of a diet. He loved it! The only thing I had to change was the ham I used smoked turkey because of dietitian needs everything else I followed to the letter and it was heavenly. Thank you so much. I will be making more of your recipes in the near future.

  123. How many points per slice of cheese? I think mine is more – so I’d want to adjust my points for the day. Thanks!

Tried it last night. It tasted just as good as regular chicken cordon bleu. Forgot to use kosher salt but used regular salt and pepper and it tasted just as good.We steamed regular green beans and had it as a side instead of asparagus.

  125. I put onion in the pan with the chicken while it was browning then placed the onion on top of the chicken and then add ham and cheese…..delish!!!!

This is a great find for my low carb dinner ! Will add this to our meal rotation. Used almond flour to cut a carb or so. Next time I need to make a few extra pieces!

  127. This recipe has already become a regular for my family. It's delicious!! Tonight I'm serving it with Gina's baked rice and peas and a salad. I feel like I hit the lottery when I found this website.

  128. Just made this! Very yummy. Had to modify though….had to pound chicken with rolling pin–no mallet here (still wasn't flat enough, but worked!) , didn't have mustard so left out, and didn't have ham so I used turkey bacon on hand. Still turned out delicious and moist! Yum (Served with a side of green beans!

  129. I almost didn't make this last night because it was a little late but I'm so glad I did. It was seriously lick the plate good. I think the sauce is like the icing on the cake. It paired SO well with the chicken. I even dipped my asparagus in it!! My kids even loved this. I cannot wait to make it again soon.

  130. This was a great find! My middle son comes over my house once a week for dinner and he literally gobbled up 2 pieces! I was thinking of making this for a baby shower. I thought if I doubled the ingredients for the sauce, it would be okay especially if it's going over a stereo. Any thoughts?

  131. I made this last night, and my Husband loveddddd it!!! I am definetly adding this to my make again Dinner list. lol

  132. I LOVE this recipe! I have been making this every week since you posted it. I substituted prosciutto for the ham since I am not a big fan of deli ham, then compensate for the extra calories, fat, and sodium by using Sargento's ultra thin sliced swiss cheese.

  133. This is delicious, I made it a few weeks ago and again tonight. I love that it uses ingredients I usually on hand and that it is an easy and quick dinner. I didn't have lemon, so I omitted that and it was still yummy.

  134. This was was my first Skinnytaste recipe, and it was DELICIOUS!! I cook for one, and am not a huge fan of leftovers ( I usually try to scale down recipes), but made all four chicken cutlets because the chicken wasn't going to last and I didn't want to freeze it. The leftovers were just as good. Can't wait to try more recipes!!

  135. This was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! The whole family devoured it. My 15-year old asked "how come it's so juicy", and my 5-year old said "mmmmm" every time he took a bite. I can't believe it's only 5SP (I actually went back and put the individual ingredients in my points tracker, and sure enough!). We will definitely be making this again.

  136. Thank you! This was so good – the sauce was the best part !! I am definitely going to make the sauce again, yum !

  137. Just finished eating this. We LOVED it. We love the rolled up one too! I can never seem to brown my chicken in the small amount of fat that is called for. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

I added about a 1/2 TS each of EEVO and butter for the second half of the chicken myself, but I'm no longer counting WW points, so I wasn't too worried about the extra fat since it wasn't a ton. You could use less for the first batch, though, and the remainder for the second batch?

  138. I made this last night and it was very easy and delicious! My sauce came alittle browner because the butter got alittle browner because I made more than 4 oz. of chicken! I made rice and peas and onions with it!

  139. Made this tonight and it was DELIICIOUS! I didn't change a thing. It was one of the best tasting recipes I have ever made. My husband loved it too and couldn't believe it was a healthy recipe. It is definitely my favorite so far from this site and DH says its tied with jalapeno popper chicken as his favorite.

    1. Below the last picture on my computer is a button for printable version. I was able to print the recipe.

  140. Made this for dinner last night and it was delicious! My husband went back for seconds, and my 7 yr olds plate was pretty much licked clean!!
thank you for such great recipies

  141. This was great! Used gluten free flour and roasted some veggies as a side. Family couldn't believe it was a skinnytaste recipe!!

  142. Hello! I am wanting to make this tonight. I was hoping to have two pieces because I've had a pretty light day today! The calculator tells me one serving is 8 smart points! Is there any way you could start including what 2 servings would be? I know you said before that the recipe builder will be different than the calculator. Yes, I did also comment on IG about this today too! I just need my points to be as accurate as possible. Going from 5 to 8 is a pretty scary jump!

  143. This was very good! Served it with rice and broccoli. Always looking for tasty, easy chicken dishes. Thanks Gina!

  144. I made this tonight and it was easy and delicious. I omitted the lemon juice since I didn't have any and used a meat pounder to make my boneless skinless chicken breasts thinner.

Made this last night and it turned out perfectly! Almost feels like an indulgence but is really so light… thanks so much for another great recipe, Gina!

  147. AMAZING! I made this last night and it was delicious and so easy. I also felt like i should be guilty eating and only 5 pts. I served with roasted cauliflower and broccoli. thanks.

  148. This was absolutely delicious! I loved the lemon. I felt like with all the flavor I should feel guilty eating it but its only 5 points! Thanks for another great recipes.

  149. Made this last night – it was delicious! The only thing I did was double the sauce recipe because my husband likes food sitting in a puddle if there is a sauce involved! We had its with steamed spinach and he had rice pilaf too.

    Enfin,la voila!

I made it this evening – it was a huge succes! Made it with sliced Holland Gouda cheese. And cornstarch instead of flour to bind the sauce. (didn't flour the chicken) Good side dish: Broccoli (steamed-then-baked in olive oil) & fresh tagliatelle.

  151. Made this last night and it was fabulous! Hubby is a heart patient so I left out the salt . . it was still wonderful and so easy!! Thank you!

  152. I made this last night and it was delicious! The sauce was very light. Leftovers are for lunch…in a wrap with butter lettuce! Thanks Gina!

  153. We don't do mustard in our house, would the sauce taste ok if I just leave it out or should I sub something?

  154. This sounds fabulous – can't wait to try it! I wanted to let you know that my daughter and I tried your Spinach Falafel Lettuce Wraps from your cookbook last night — LOVED them! I really enjoy your blog and your cookbook. Thanks!

Speedy and heavenly! I made this for my spouse and 3 kids and it was incredible. Here's my survey and transforms I made…

I would reverberate alternate surveys in reccommending the utilization of low sodium sou…

  156. Adding this to my list for dinner next week! I need all the quick weeknight recipes I can get. Your meals are fabulous, had the slow cooker chicken enchilada soup last night (made it ahead of time on Sunday!) and having the asian turkey meatballs with zoodles tonight!

  157. Is there a low GI flour that you recommend for this? Coconut flour smells too strongly of actual coconuts so I don't think it would work. Almond flour maybe?

Does NOT using the low sodium versions of those few ingredients change the Smart Points value?

    1. I would try it with steamed baby spinach. I would plate it with the spinach first, then the chicken and sauce. Yum!

      1. Zucchini is squash too. May I ask what other squash you used? I’m diabetic and try to eat as little carbs as possible. Also, how did you prepare other squash?

        Thank you,
        Tommie

      2. Oops! I’m sorry, I meant to ask how you prepared the zucchini! It plainly says “grilled” squash. Lol

    2. I served it with steamed asparagus and roasted potatoes. The sauce from the chicken goes really well with asparagus too.

      1. Yummy Michelle! Both of the sides you used sound lucioush!! I think I’ll use the same! Thanks for posting the great idea!

        Tommie

  159. WOW- Just finished eating this – absolutely delicious! Had provolone and whole grain mustard in my fridge so used these instead. Chicken was super moist. Will definitely make again!

  160. Skillet Chicken Cordon Bleu, its light and simple. I love this dish, a good way to start this 2016 is avoid so much heavy meals. I only eat white meat, mostly chicken and fish for my meals. I rarely eat beef and pork.

  161. Made this tonight using leftover holiday ham and it was DELICIOUS!! A definite new recipe in our regular rotation. Also, got your cookbook for Christmas and can't wait to try all your recipes!

  162. Oh this one sounds really good thank you for all of the recipes I am loving them just a quick question I live in Australia and we don't have multi purpose flour we have plain or self raising I presume that multi purpose is plain does anyone know this 🙂 thanks

    Have Fun

  163. We love your baked chicken cordon bleu, but this is perfect for a busy weekday dinner. Going to make it this week!

Amazing and delicious! I used a slice of prosciutto I instead of deli ham and a slice of guerere cheese. Yum!

  165. Any recommendations for another cheese that would work well with this? My husband isn't a fan of swiss. Thanks!
