Buffalo Shrimp Lettuce Wraps

I love lettuce wraps, they are my go-to when I want to eat low-carb. In fact, I have so many lettuce wrap recipes here on my site, everything from Buffalo Chicken Lettuce Wraps, Taco Lettuce Wraps to BLT Lettuce Wraps just to name a few.

These spicy shrimp lettuce wraps are keto, low-carb and gluten-free. An idea I had after a craving for Buffalo Shrimp. You eat them with your hands, so they’re a bit messy. If you prefer to turn this into a salad, simply serve the shrimp over chopped romaine.

I used butter lettuce for these lettuce wraps, but Romaine or Iceberg lettuce works great too. These are great for lunch or a light dinner, you don’t need any fancy equipment, just a skillet. The best part, this whole shrimp dish takes less than 10 minutes to make.

  1. While the color was pale, the flavor was spot on! Thanks for the recipe.

  2. My husband and I devoured this! I made my own blue cheese sauce with Greek yogurt and blue cheese crumbles. My lettuce wrapping skills suck, so I ripped up the lettuce and made salad. Soooo good! I wish I had more shrimp!

  3. Another delicious recipe from skinny taste! Trying to eat healthier and venturing out to cook more seafood, this was SO easy and SO delicious. I’ve made it twice this week!

  4. Another winner! I made mine into a salad. Not too spicy at all for us. I made homemade ranch to go along with it. One of my favorite ranch’s. So, yummy!

  5. Made these the other night and not only were they super easy but they were absolutely delicious! Everyone loved them and they have earned their place on our meal rotation! Your recipes never disappoint ❤️

  6. Love this one! I just use blue cheese crumbles instead of dressing, and a bit of ranch seasoning sprinkled on top. Made it again for the super bowl!

  7. Wonderful recipe! My two teenages sons LOVED this. I doubled recipe to make sure we had lunch leftovers the next day. Perfect!

  8. Absolutely delicious, just the right amount of spice, I just started weight watchers and will definitely be making these again, thank you!

  9. Perfect low carb lunch! I LOVED every bite.

  10. Made this for the first time last night. I loved them. Very tasty. I used romaine lettuce just because I had it on hand and it really wasn’t messy at all. Will be making them again for sure.

  11. Gina, I love these. going to make them tonight. do you think I can serve them with tortillas as tacos? my husband’s not watching his carbs 🙂

  12. Easy and yummy! I will say my husband doesn’t hold to the portion size lol we ate the entire recipe between the two of us. Great when you’re wanting something light but flavorful. Franks wing sauce is the best!

  13. I thought these were great.  I think chopping up the shrimp allows it to go  little further and fill your lettuce a little better.  You could easily add more filler by not adding  calories by adding more celery, cabbage ( both colors would look good) .  Also the blue cheese dressing recipe is spot on and would be great for dipping veggies… your next salads ect.  I haven’t made a bad thing yet from this site!!!!!

  14. OMG! This was insanely delicious! I made your homemade blue cheese dressing using apple cider vinegar instead of the lemon juice and it was amazing! It was messy but certainly worth every drip. This is in my regular rotation. Simple and quick to make. Next time I may do it as a chopped salad. My husband and I both thank you for this recipe!

  15. These were awesome! One thing I noticed was that using iceberg lettuce, this only made 4 lettuce wraps total. Not sure how the recipe would produce 12. That being said- I made my shrimp in the air fryer! I used red Argentine shrimp from Trader Joe’s (an absolute MUST have), 400 for 7 min. Topped w blue cheese crumbles, red onion celery and avocado. My partner and I devoured them but were still quite hungry after. I loved this and will absolutely make again- but DOUBLE it!

  16. I took this to a happy hour for an appetizer. Also used cabbage leaves. I made a big tray and let everyone assemble themselves. HUGE hit with everyone – men and women devoured it and asked for the recipe.

  17. I’m assuming that the points’ calculations for this recipe does not include the addition of the blue cheese dressing on top, correct? Sorry for the silly question!

  18. Underwhelmed.  I was really excited about this meal but it really wasn’t that great.  The lettuce wasn’t holding the mixture very well.    Taste was ok but not great.

  19. These were really good. Not hard to make either.

  20. These were spot on!! It’s hot and muggy here in Chicago this time of year and this was perfect for dinner! My husband raved about them, we both had them as wraps. My teenager is anti-lettuce so I warmed a few tortillas for her. It’s a big win here for the Mom and her family!! Thanks, Gina! You never disappoint!

  21. This recipe is so ridiculously hot that I had to rescue the shrimp and toss the whole mess, only partially eaten. There is also absolutely no good reason to chop large shrimp into small pieces. Use smaller cheaper shrimp if you want to do that. This recipe might have been fine if there had been no addition of Franks Hot Sauce (maybe 1 teaspoon instead of 1/3 cup). But, I guess we’ll never know. 1 star is the least I can rate. Zero would be better. I don’t understand all the 5-star ratings. Spare your taste buds and move on!!

    • Usually when a recipe is titled “Buffalo” and has the words “spicy” in the heading, you can expect it to be hot, James. And no one forced you to chop your shrimp into small pieces 🙂

I thought it was simple and delicious. Thanks, as always, Gina!

    • Is it possible you bought the Frank’s hot sauce in the small bottle instead of Frank’s buffalo wing sauce? I think the instructions could have been clearer. Definitely if you use 1/3c of cayenne hot sauce it will be too hot!

    • I guess one man’s too hot is another women’s perfection! I used Franks hot sauce (not buffalo) and thought it was just right for me.

  22. Super easy to make! Super yummy! Definitely going to be making again!

  23. I thought these were good.  I made them with the skinny taste blue cheese dressing.  But they were hard to hold and messy to eat in a lettuce wrap.   I may use a corn tortilla next time.  Today I’m going to use my extra blue cheese dressing and make Gina’s buffalo blue cheese turkey burgers.  Yum!

  24. Where does the celery come in?  Is it cooked with shrimp or added at the end with red onion and chives?

  25. I made this today. It was amazing. The flavors and the homemade blue cheese dressing is amazing

  26. Quick, easy and delicious! I bought the ingredients knowing I had hot sauce and found I only had the chipotle flavor. It worked just fine. A little messy, but my husband even loved them.

  27. These were delicious and easy!! Just chop up your veggies, saute your shrimp, and drizzle some ranch. So good. I will definitely make a double batch though next time. 1 lb of shrimp doesn’t go far enough for my family.

  28. YUM! Light, fresh and perfect for summer or any time of the year!

  29. Hi Gina,,
So my girlfriends and I love your recipes.  Whenever we get together we always end up taking “skinny taste”.  On Tuesday July 30th we are having a “skinny taste” pool party in which we each bring our favorite recipe.  I’m hosting the party at my house in Babylon.   I know this sounds weird but I would love to surprise my friends with a guest appearance by you!!  We are just a bunch Long Island moms in our mid 40’s.   I completely understand if you don’t want to make friends with strangers, but we are a pretty funny bunch and I can guarantee you will have fun!!   Feel free to contact me at mrskounadis@netscape.net.
    Sincerely,
    Jennifer Kounadis

  30. Can you use frozen shrimp? If so, how to thaw out beforehand?

    • I use frozen because of where I live. My advice is after thawing and peeling, blot them dry really well. I have cotton kitchen towels that I wrap them in while I’m prepping everything else.

  31. So easy! These wraps had just the right amount of spicy, definitely not too hot for wimpy people like me. Totally spaced serving this with Ranch and they still were delicious. The only deviation for me was I used a few green onions instead of red. This one’s a keeper!

  32. I made this and found that it’s easier to chop up the lettuce and serve the shrimp on top with the celery and onion and blue cheese dressing.
Great flavor super easy to throw together!

  33. Is a serving 3 or 4?

  34. Really enjoyed this. I ate mine as a salad (easier than lettuce wraps). I’m not a spicy food fan so I was pleased that the lite ranch cut the intensity of the hot sauce. Husband liked it; had his on a tortilla. Keeper!

  35. Could I cook these in the air fryer?

  36. Buffalo sauce or Frank’s red hot sauce? Ingredients list Frank’s hot sauce yet instructions say buffalo sauce.

  37. If you were making this for dinner, what kind of side dish would you add?

    • Put it over a salad instead of of just lettuce wraps, or make a fruit salad on the side?

    • If your on a low carb diet mashed cauliflower would be a good option. If your not on a low carb diet sweet potato fries, regular mashed potates or steamed jasmine rice would be some delicious options.
