Sweet and Spicy Glazed Salmon

Salmon is my favorite fish, which I am sure you can tell as I have tons of salmon recipes. Some favorites are Basil-Parmesan Salmon, Air Fryer Salmon with Maple Soy Glaze, and Asian Salmon Bowls. This sweet and spicy version may be added to my new list of favorites! It’s simple (only five ingredients) and delicious.

brushing glaze on salmon

Guys I love salmon, but it’s pretty hard for me to choose a favorite recipe, since I have so many. When I tested this recipe, I instantly fell in love! The easy homemade salmon glaze packs so much flavor with just three ingredients. The sweet red chili glaze adds sweetness and caramelization, the sriracha adds a little heat, and the ginger gives it a warm, pungent flavor.

Why is salmon good for you?

Salmon is a very healthy and nutritious fish. It’s full of omega-3 fatty acids, which help decrease blood pressure and inflammation. Omega-3s are “essential” fats, meaning your body can’t make them, so you have to get them from foods in your diet. Salmon is also high in protein, vitamins B12 and D, selenium, and potassium.

How to Cook Salmon Fillets

This healthy baked salmon recipe is so easy to make. I cook these sweet and spicy salmon fillets in the oven at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes. The  salmon is done when the inside turns semi-opaque, and it flakes easily. If you wanted to make cleanup even quicker, line the sheet pan with foil.

What to Serve with Glazed Salmon

This baked salmon would be wonderful with roasted veggies, like asparagus or brussels sprouts and butternut squash, as a side. You could even double the salmon sauce and pour it on the vegetables. Here are some more side dish ideas:

  1. I’ve been making this recipe for a few years now. It has become a favorite in our house and has become the standard for easy, quick AND delicious to which I hold all other recipes I try. So far I’ve yet to find one that beats this perfect weeknight meal! Thank you!

  2. This was so quick & easy! I used TJs sweet ginger sauce because it’s what I had. Was perfection! Adding it to rotation

  3. The flavor of this was great! My only issue was because of the honey, the glaze thickened up in the pan way too much and was no longer usable as a glaze. It made the house smell a little burnt. I do use stainless steel pans that hold very high heat so that was probably the problem. But flavor wise this was amazing.

  4. Couldn’t be easier, did in air fryer, perfect! Had roasted broccoli and wild rice medley for sides.

Your salmon recipes are the best recipes. It’s because of your recipes I eat salmon 3 or 4 times a week. They are simple but oh so delicious! Thank you 🙏🏻

  6. I’ve made this SO MANY times in the air fryer! So great, so easy, always a great choice for a weeknite meal!

I thought this was very easy and simple and delicious… I would have liked more “sauce” instead of glaze.. but it was very very good!

  8. I love salmon but this was delicious. I am just starting the air fryer and this was easy and delicious.

  9. I’m back on the WW train and made this for the family last week. It was easy and delicious and even my picky daughter who only sometimes enjoys salmon loved it! Gina – very thankful for all your recipes, from this site and the cookbooks I purchases…first time I’ve rated (you’ll be seeing me more now), but I’ve made and enjoyed many of your dishes.

  10. Excellent recipe. Fast and easy. Served it with cucumber salad and corn on the cob. Dinner was on the table in 20 minutes

  11. This super simple salmon recipe has become one of our favorites. So Good!!

Very good and very easy! I served with sautéed onion, pepper, zucchini and yellow squash. Really good!

  13. This has become my favorite quick, easy meal! It takes maybe 15 minutes. Sometimes if I want it to go faster I’ll sub the fresh ginger out for dried. Great recipe either way!

Great Recipe. I used the Air Fryer Recipe! The ginger is Suttle but gives a nice zing. Thank you for the tip on Spraying the Air Fryer pan. In the Air fryer cookbook, it says generously, and it helped tremendously. The timing and temperature for the Air Fryer were right on, we use wild sock eye, and it was cooked perfect. NYUM! Next time for me I will be adding a bit more sriracha. Five Stars for us! Thank you!

LOVE this recipe.  It is my go to weeknight meal for easy, quick, delicious, and healthy.  My husband does not normally like Salmon,  but loves this! Definitely try this out – if will become regular in your rotation!  Thanks Gina!

  16. Very flavorful, especially for so few ingredients. We didn’t have Sriracha, so substituted Gochujang but otherwise made as written and it was delicious. Served with brown rice and roasted broccoli.

  17. This was so good! I followed the recipe exactly and it came out perfect. It was different than what I would expect for salmon but in a good way!

  18. This was super simple to makke, but had tons of flavor. We will definitely be making it again, and I’ll be using the glaze recipe for lots of other proteins.

  19. The glaze was delish! Definitely save extra for drizzling on while you’re eating. We probably did more salmon than the recipe called for (I didn’t weigh it out) but it did take a lot longer than 10 min. for 5 small to medium filets it took about 40 min and I had to bump up the temp to 425 and cover the pan with foil half way through. Still a great dish! Will definitely make again!!

  20. This was disappointing. Thought there would be a match of sweet and heat but it was just meh. Maybe I need a better Thai sweet chilli sauce.
Can’t compete with the Gojujang glazed salmon!,

  21. This was excellent!  Soo, so tasty, and very easy.  Used air fryer.  Came out perfectly.  I will definitely make this again.

  22. Made this for dinner tonight and it was a big hit! My husband doesn’t eat fish, so I made double the sauce and put half on boneless skinless chicken breast. Worked great and so easy! I served it with brown rice and steamed green beans.

  23. This was awesome!! Super easy and flavorful, perfect to add to the weeknight line up!! Will definitely be making again!

    1. Best salmon ever! So tasty and easy! Made it with the Air Fryer. It was “délicieux”. Thanks Gina for your amazing recipes from Canada.

  24. My favorite salmon recipe is the Gochujang Salmon which we eat at least once a week.
Like you Gina, we crave salmon grilled, broiled or baked. I’m guessing I’ll find Sweet Red Chili Sauce with Asian foods, so we’ll give it a whirl. I’m banking on 5 stars without yet trying it!
