Air Fryer Chicken Thighs

These easy Air Fryer Chicken Thighs take only minutes to prep and are very versatile. You can switch up the spices to change the flavors. This recipe can serve 3 to 6 people, depending on how many thighs you want per serving. To make it a meal I usually serve it with a big salad on the side. Air Fryer Chicken Thighs

Chicken Thigh Ingredients

  • Chicken Thighs: I used bone-in chicken thighs with the skin on. If you use boneless thighs, you’ll need to reduce the cooking time. Once they reach 165°F with a meat thermometer, they’re done.
  • Lemon: Squeeze the juice from half a lemon.
  • Spices: Salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder, sweet paprika, and dried herbs, like herbs de Provence

How to Make Air Fryer Chicken Thighs

  • Season Chicken: Squeeze lemon juice over the thighs. Next, sprinkle them with all the spices and rub them in.
  • Air fry the chicken thighs at 400°F for 24 minutes, flipping them over halfway. If all six won’t fit in the machine at the same time, cook the chicken in batches.

Are chicken thighs still healthy?

Although chicken thighs have more fat and calories than chicken breasts, they are still a healthy option packed with protein and other nutrients. Plus, they just taste better! I think they’re much more exciting and flavorful than chicken breasts. I personally love the skin, but if you’re looking to cut calories, you can eat them without it. It also helps to cook them in a healthy way, and the air fryer is perfect for that since it uses little to no oil.

What to Serve with Air Fryer Chicken Thighs

I serve these juicy chicken thighs with a big green salad and a veggie on the side, like roasted butternut squash, shredded brussels sprouts, or roasted green beans. They’d also be good with a quinoa salad, tomato soup, or pasta.

  1. Love, Love this recipe! I used Italian herbs cause that is all i had in my pantry. It was quick it was flavorful and easy. Served with glazed carrots and a little pasta salad. Thanks for the recipe!

These are yummy and a big hit with my family. 24 minutes is too long though. I usually air fry them for 12-14 minutes and they come out perfectly cooked.

  3. I make these on repeat. Easy and so good with lots of flavor and crispy skin. I serve them with fresh vegetables to keep the calories lower.

  4. Chicken was tender underneath crispy skin, perfect recipe for chicken thighs in the air fryer will definitely be making this again

  5. These are probably the best chicken thighs I’ve ever had. They turned out crispy, juicy and delicious.

  6. I have made this recipe at least 5 times. It is so so good. We love chicken wings. I tried this with chicken and was worried they would be dry being white meat. Nope they were so juicy. I changed nothing with the recipe. Thanks Gina

  7. This is a 10! But buy good chicken. Bell & Evans air chilled is great. I make this at LEAST once a week. For me. I pop the leftover chicken back in the airfryer for a few minutes to heat and re-crisp the skin. Oh, yeah!

  8. These are so good. By air frying them no oil is used and their fat is rendered. It’s a go to for me.

  9. Delicious and quick to make. I reduced the time to 18 minutes for boneless, skinless thighs. May reduce a bit more.
    Definitely a keeper!

  10. Quick easy and tasty I used boneless skinless thighs so reduced cooking time to 6 minutes a side. I think maybe I’d reduce the temp next time as it was a bit overdone but still delish. After the first bite I squeezed more lemon juice on it…just the right touch

  11. The crispy skin on these thighs were delish. Came together daily and made the house smell divine

  12. Leave most of skin on. It is delicious. I actually buy thighs in packs of 4 at Walmart. Serve with roasted small potatoes and any veg. One of our favorite meals.

  13. This recipe was the easiest to make and full of flavor and juciest chicken thighs I have ever tried. Husband loved it and it is now in the rotation list. Your recipes are awesome.

  14. Made this with thighs and it turned out crispy but so juicy on the inside. Wondering what/if any changes would be needed for chicken legs? Thanks in advance!

  15. Nutrition information if cooked with skin; but skin is not eaten? I leave skin on to cook because it helps keep the thigh moist.

  16. This recipe comes out perfectly every single time- juicy, filling, and just the right amount of spice. It’s been in repeat every other week for 9 months and my husband and I don’t get tired of it. I inadvertently forgot the lemon juice once and while it’s not a lot of lemon juice, it was a tad lacking but, still good. I have shared this recipe with several others and will continue to do so. Thank you!!

  17. I’m new to using an Air fryer. Do you use the trivet inside the basket for this recipe? From the photos it looks like one is used. TIA, I would like to try this one later this week!

  18. Great Recipe. So simple that even I could do it lol. I made it twice in one week. Thank you for sharing

  19. I love the lemon in this recipe! I tend to leave out the salt and let folks add what they’d like. All in all, easy delicious recipe – thanks.

  20. Just cooked this recipe and I have to say it was brill. absolutely delicious. I cooked the thighs directly in the a/f basket without the trivet. 👍

  21. When I got home from work tonight, I was really hungry and we had some chicken thighs thawed in the fridge. I wanted something quick and needed to use them soon so they didn’t go bad. I had everything to make the seasoning and I recently bought lemons for other recipes. In 24 minutes, I had a tasty protein which I paired with some fresh roasted potatoes. This dinner was ready quickly and really hit the spot. I didn’t think it would be as flavorful as it was.

  22. This is a great quick dinner option. I loved the crispy outside and the moisture inside. While the chicken was cooking, I roasted some baby potatoes and baby carrots in the oven. For the potatoes, I used the same spices as I did for the chicken. It was a a nice complement to the chicken. A+!

  23. This recipe was excellent! The only variation I had was to baste thighs with melted butter, the other half of the lemon and fresh ground black pepper right when I pulled them out of the air fryer. Next time I am thinking I’ll add a clove or two of fresh pressed garlic to the lemon butter.

  24. This was the best chicken I’ve ever had, hands down!! The flavor was incredible and such a nice change from lemon pepper. Also, my husband made it!! He’s not really into cooking, but he did a great job! Thanks so much, this is my new favorite.

  25. I LOVE these chicken thighs!! Thank you so much! They have been a life saver for having to go to GF DF and no eggs ❤️❤️❤️

  26. Love this! Fast, easy and impressive! I’m making it again tonight for the grands. I used boneless, skinless chicken.

  27. Stand by, easy, favourite, but 24 minutes doesn’t get it cooked to where it pulls easily away from the bone without resistance, so I turn temp to 390 after the time is up, and keep going until it looks just right. But it’s got delicious crispy skin and takes almost zero effort!

  28. This was delicious!
My husband and I needed something quick, as it was late (it was 6:30 pm, we usually eat between 3:30 & 4 pm)
Found your recipe and tried it.
The only thing that was a bit off was the lemon, our fault not your recipes fault.
I added lemon and forgot to tell hubby, he came into the kitchen and didn’t think I had added it, so he added more.

    1. Happy you loved the air fryer chicken thighs! I usually don’t preheat my air fryer for this recipe—it works fine starting cold. That said, every model is a little different, so if your air fryer tends to run on the cooler side, preheating for 3–5 minutes can help the chicken thighs get extra crispy.

  29. Excellent results!! Crispy and tasty. Bonus is that it is very easy to make. I have made it multiple times and does not disappoint.

  30. So delicious! The chicken was crispier on outside and incredibly juicy on the inside. I used lime instead of lemon and the flavor was outstanding!

  31. My first attempt at Air Frying. What a delicious beginning. The lemon juice and spices made for crisp, moist thighs. Excited to try more of your recipes.

  32. Needed some comfort food on this hot summer night. These were absolutely amazing. Cooked perfectly and full of flavor!

  33. Hoe can something so easy be so delicious!! Thanks Gina for the seasoning combination – absolutely love this chicken!

  34. Who needs oil? This is such a great recipe with incredible results. I actually find the lemon juice makes it crispier and lighter…so much better. Seasoning is flexible. Lemon is the secret ingredient for sure and healthier for bonus points! Thank you

  35. My kids said this was the best chicken I have ever made. Also can’t beat how quick and easy it is to make. Thank you so much for the recipe.

  36. This is so easy to make and so good! My teenager and my husband loved it. My teen actually requested I make it again two days later!

    1. Our oven takes FOREVER to pre-heat. I’m learning how amazing the air fryer is and thought I’d see how successful air frying chicken thighs would be. These turned out great following this recipe! Mine were boneless so I went 20 minutes. 18 might have still worked. Thanks for sharing!

  37. I look up and save recipes multiple times a week. Sadly, I rarely rate them so when I say these are the best thighs I’ve ever had, holy sh#% I mean it! SO crispy and moist. The GOAT chicken!

  38. Easy to make and received rave reviews from the people that ate the air fryer chicken thighs. Prepared them for a church function.

  39. I always double the amount of spices for this otherwise it doesn’t seem enough to coat everything, but otherwise it is very delicious!

  40. I’ve made this a few times. Each time gave me the juiciest chicken thigh and the crispiest skin. The only thing I keep the same is the juice from the lemon. I mix up the seasonings. This recipe is uber deeeeeeee-lish and also super easy! Woot!

  41. Excellent. I double the spices, else it just doesn’t seem like enough to coat both sides. I do enjoy the herbs de provence. So easy and delicious.

  42. LOVE IT!! Make it weekly. I like to add sweet hot rub also! The lemon really makes a difference!

  43. Terrific Tasty Thighs…I am not a fan of paprika so I left that out. I am new to cooking with an air fryer so making these yummy chicken thighs will be the first thing I’m going to cook. The photos posted with this recipe looks delightfully delicious and I can’t wait to try this recipe. However I switched out the dry herbs with freshly dried cilantro and the chicken thighs turned out perfectly! I couldn’t beieve how juicy they were! Chicken thighs to me are the tastiest part of the chicked and I have a whole freezer full of them and I will be most definitely using this recipe for all of them! The temperature and the timing listed in this recipe was right on, totally accurate-just right! This recipe is a must have! Incredible mouth watering chicken: lightning fast, prepared and finished in no time at all! Absolutely positively the juciest thighs ever! If I could I would give this recipe 10 stars instead of 5 stars! Highly recommend this recipe to everyone-to one and to all! 10 Stars Plus!

I LOVE that there is no marinade time needed. Makes this perfect for those nights I fail to plan ahead. Still a TON of flavor and very crispy. I used Italian seasoning for the dried herbs. Served with roasted diced potatoes and corn on the cob. SO easy.

My husband and I enjoyed it. We think additional garlic and some ginger might add flavor. Especially nice and quick in airfryer.

  46. This recipe is so easy, and my whole family loves it! Never any complaints on this dinner night. The flavor profile is tasty, and pairs with just about any side dish; Asian, Latin, American, all work.

    Thank you!!

  47. This is a quick fix for dinner with little mess before and afterwards and the taste was fantastic!

Definitely love this along with my two air fryers and our conventional oven only gets about 30% of it’s previous usage.

  48. This will be our go to weeknight protein..crispy…juicy…very flavorful. Paired with different salads for a lighter dish, and couscous for adding a carb.Thank you..

  49. Oh my goodness, this is the best chicken thigh I have ever eaten. I followed the recipe perfect and the only thing I would change is the temperature of the air fryer to lower. So good and so easy

  50. So easy and delicious!! Truly could t be easier given the rich flavors. I’m so impressed at how savory these came since I didn’t marinate the chicken hardly at all! Loved it this recipe – will be a weekly staple for me for sure.

  51. First dinner with new air fryer. Cooked 4 pieces at 8 minutes per side. They came out delicious!

Fast and very easy. I tripled the amount of spices, and used skinless boneless thighs. Wife & teenage son loved it!

I made this chicken tonight and it is one of my new favorite recipes! I used some bottled lime juice instead of fresh lemon juice and I think that it worked perfectly. I combined all of the spices in a small bowl and then rubbed it into the chicken. Normally I would have removed the skin, but I decided to live a little and wow was I not disappointed! Next time I will probably only use half of the salt that the recipe calls for. Next time will probably be in a couple of days because this was amazing! I have 1 thigh left over and will use that tomorrow night in a salad.

  54. I cooked just one thigh in my small air fryer and was delighted with the results: crispy skin and thigh meat cooked just right. I blended the spices in a small dish and also rubbed some of the spice mixture under the skin, adding to the meat flavor. Simple, quick, and good. I’ll make it again and again.

  55. I never tasted something so good in a long time. The chicken was very favorable, I will be making it again tomorrow.

  56. Simple, yet amazing recipe! I chose your recipe based on reviews, and I’m so glad I did. So easy, and so delicious- I will make this my go-to for air fryer chicken. I laughed when I realized I had all of the spices you listed!

  57. My husband said “Wow” on first bite and my son loves it too. They want it worked into our regular meal rotation. I did reduce the cooking time for smaller thighs, but followed the recipe exactly. Delicious!

Awesome, easy recipe. Husband loved it, too. Plan to try with skinless next time, just to see about less fat. But it was pretty much perfect.

  60. Thank you Gina! This is super easy, quick, and so tasty!! I never would’ve bought thighs in the past (especially bone-in/skin on!) but my husband likes them so I gave them a try! I’m now a huge fan, and this recipe is in the dinner rotation! I like coating them well and getting them good and crispy/dark… we all love them!

  61. Love this recipe! Perfect & very tasty every time! It’s now my “go too” quick, easy chicken dinner! Restaurant quality!

  62. Love this! Made it with 4 thighs and used the same amount of seasoning as for 6. Crispy outside and moist inside. Easy, healthy and fast!

This is my GO-TO during the week, and the husband and kids never get tired of it. It is super quick and easy and full of flavor!!

  64. We LOVE this recipe. I mix all of the spices in a bowl and then sprinkle on both sides. For me, this way makes it easier to apply all of the spices more evenly. I also tend to use skinless and boneless thighs and they turn out perfectly.

  65. Outstanding and so easy. This is a keeper/repeater. Didn’t change any thing and the time listed is perfect for my Ninja AF.

  66. This is a great recipe. The timing and cooking temperature were perfect. I didn’t have all the spices so I used a combination herb called Grill Mates Garlic and Herb. I threw a bag of veggies that steam in the bag into the microwave. Then while the chicken rested in the air fryer I threw a 90 second microwave pouch into the microwave. Perfect dinner and easy to make.

  67. My husband declared this the best chicken I’ve ever made and I would agree it is indeed excellent – definitely one of the best air fryer recipes I’ve made. I did use all the seasoning listed on 4 thighs so they were super covered – tops, under skin and bottoms. I also let the chicken sit in the lemon juice in the fridge for about 30 minutes. I paired it with roasted broccoli and baby red potatoes. Deserves this 5 star rating for sure.

  68. I have a LOT of Skinnytaste recipes regularly, but I’ve never left a comment. These thighs deserve a comment. I cannot believe how easy, juicy, and delicious these were! My kids usually tolerate chicken entrees, but they LOVED this chicken. We used boneless, skinless thighs, cooked at 400 degrees for 15-16 minutes (flipping halfway through). This chicken will now be on our weekly rotation. It was so easy and so so so yummy! Thank you!

  69. Needed a quick recipe and this is it! I followed the recipe and the chicken turned out perfectly – crispy and flavorful. I expect this to be on repeat.

  70. Do
I need to use lemon juice? Can I just leave it out or sub something else as hubby is a not lemon juice lover

I made this for the first time tonight and I completely forgot the lemon(my hubby is also not a fan of lemon). It was delicious so I’m sure you will find it just as good

  71. I’ve made this twice: once exactly according to the recipe, and the second time I changed up the seasonings to salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and Sauzon. Both were delicious! Crispy outside and juicy inside. Fast, easy and delicious! Will be making this regularly.

  72. I have now made this wonderful recipe 4 times. Love love love it and everyone I have served loves it too. Thank you!

  73. I don’t have an air fryer but an oven with an air fryer setting. I am guessing that is not the same thing. Any experience with an oven setting; will this recipe work? 🙂 thanks!

  74. This was my first time using my new air fryer. I followed the recipe to the letter, and was not disappointed. Chicken thighs were perfectly seasoned, crispy skin, tender moist meat. My husband who never eats the skin loved it!

OMG! My first try with an air fryer – and these thighs were to DIE for!!!! I have never had chicken thighs as good as these! THANK YOU!

  76. Loved this easy and tasty air fryer chicken. I served it with quinoa. Will definitely make this again. Thank you.

I absolutely love making these thighs! They are no effort – for those evenings when you just want a tasty dish and no bother! I then serve it with salad, potato salad or coleslaw.

  78. The time needs to be significantly reduced. When I went to turn the thighs over at 12 minutes cooking at a temperature of 390° they were already at 195° which made them quite dry. Next time I will start checking the temp at 8 minutes

  79. So delicious! I’ve made this recipe multiple times and it always comes out great!Tonight’s dish was yummy

  80. This is a great recipe! I have used it several times, for my husband, he a picky eater, but loves this recipe!

  81. So easy and so yummy.
We tried this for the first time a week ago and I’m already making it a 3rd time.
Everyone was so happy with the result and it is so quick and easy.

  82. This recipe is amazing! Easy and delicious. I just got a new air fryer and decided to try it. This will be in my rotation now!

  83. Oh. My. Gosh. This recipe has wrecked me. I *thought* I had a favorite, but then I tried yours. I just made it for the second time and no regrets. The skin comes out super crispy and the flavor is amazing! I just posted the recipe with my pictures on my social media page because everyone needs to know about this recipe. Okay, maybe not everyone because then there will be a chicken thigh shortage. Thank you for making and sharing this game-changing recipe.

Note: If you’re like me and you don’t care much for lemon flavor, you can’t taste it at all.

  84. This chicken recipe is the best air fryer chicken ever! We haven’t gotten bored of it after a couple yrs now, I make it every couple weeks. It’s the ONLY way I cook chicken now!

  85. I have made this recipe many times. So needless to say it’s soooo good and soooo easy. Sometimes I change up the seasoning by adding lemon pepper or cayenne or anything else I happen to have on hand. Always crispy skin and juicy chicken!! Love it!

  86. Excellent! I switch up the spices on these almost every time, and they always turn out perfectly in the air-fryer – the CRISPIEST, bacon-like skin and JUICY meat!

  87. How have I never thought of just using lemon juice as a connector for the spices!? I always used olive oil- but thighs are so juicy to begin with they don’t need it. Followed this recipe and was shocked how delicious that burst of lemon is!! Simple and outstanding- my new favorite trick- thank you! Was a littler nervous about the time being too long- but nop- just listen to the author here- they were picture perfect and perfectly juicy!!!

  88. These are perfect! I made them just as the recipe said and they were easy, fast, and delicious! A regular in the rotation now.

  89. I make this at least once a week, sometimes twice, I’ll use bone in, then boneless!! Amazing flavor! I’ve shared this with many friends and family!!

  90. Did this twice now, a week apart. When my son saw it the second time, he called out excitedly to his sister and said “we’re having the chicken again.

Made this recipe with boneless, skinless, thighs and the outcome was wonderful. Will definately be making this again.

  92. I have made this many times. So easy for a weeknight dinner. Sometimes I change up the spices like adding cayenne or lemon pepper or chipotle pepper. But every time it comes out great. The lemon juice makes the skin so crispy. Adding oil of any kind is not necessary at all. Try this recipe…you will not be sorry.

  93. Absolutely delicious! My daughter is not a fan of chicken, but said it was great and to make it again. I was skeptical of the lemon juice, but the skin was nice and crispy. Thank you!

  94. Love these chicken thighs but marinate in buttermilk for 2 hours and serve with creamy mash and onion gravy 😋

  95. OK, I’m not a big user of my air fryer – I’ve even questioned why I ever got one. Well, these thighs could be the one & only thing I make in it and it’s worth the investment (‘tho I have made a few other recipes 😁) So flavourful – I used lemon thyme as the herb option. They turned out crispy on the outside, tender inside – just yummy! I can see these going on rotation. Thanks Gina!

  96. I don’t even like thighs and this recipe is leaving me wanting more! So easy and so delicious! Thank you!

  97. My first air fryer attempt. Very good, and came out just right. Also looked just like the picture. Very impressed.

  98. Easy and delicious recipe. The only way I will make air fryer chicken thighs from now on! Great for when you need to add chicken thighs to other recipes too, such as salads.

  99. I have made this over and over, always with great results! Sometimes I substitute smoked paprika for half of the regular paprika, just to give it a different spin, but that’s just a variation, not an improvement. I use boneless, skinless thighs, just because that’s what I always have, and they are great.

  100. I’ve made this many times. So good. You don’t need to add oil because the lemon juice helps to really crisp up the skin. Use any spices you want…always delicious. I add a little cayenne for a little kick. Thank you!

  101. These chicken thighs were just right! Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside 😋
Can I use this recipe for chicken legs?

  102. First time making chicken thighs last week. Typically not a fan of this cut but they were on sale….this recipe changed my views. I loved these chicken thighs!! Making them again this week, this recipe might be added to my weekly rotation!

  103. After the first time I made it, I bookmarked it. It’s my go-to recipe for air-fried chicken thighs now. Making it again, tonight. Thank you for this!

  104. This was the first meal we ever made in the Air Fryer and it was amazing!! I didn’t have lemons, so I replaced them with Lemon Pepper seasoning. It came out so juicy and crispy!

  105. I did not expect for these chicken thighs to turn out so amazingly good!! They came out perfectly crispy and so juicy that I ate all 4 thighs in one sitting. I’ve already made them again tonight with white rice and salad. Next time I’ll try an Asian Honey glaze.

  106. From The Netherlands. Hi! I made these chicken thighs already a couple of times. They are really delicious. I have also made them without skin and bone. You then have to shorten the time in the airfryer. Even without skin they are crispy. I keep them on the menu every 2 weeks.

  107. This is my go-to recipe for chicken thighs, they come out perfectly crispy every time and SO easy! Won’t make them any other way😋

I made this recipe. These are the best chicken thighs I have eaten. I will definitely make them again!

  109. Wow!!! Best thigh recipe out there! Followed to a T and chicken came out juicy, with a crispy skin. So good!

  110. Delicious and easy! Can’t get a better combination than that. We will definitely be having these again!

  111. Love it!….My daughter made it for me & I loved it so much I bought a air fryer & cook this recipe for all my friends & family.

  112. I don’t know if I did something wrong but all I can taste is salt – it’s inedible and I ruined so much chicken.

  113. Amazing chicken thigh recipie! Only thing I did differently is I marinated mine in the fridge for 2 hours before putting them a a preheated air fryer. This was the best chicken I’ve ever had, hands down. Thank you so much for sharing your recipie!

  114. I have never been a big fan of chicken thighs, but boy am I sold now! I used boneless, skinless thighs and they did not disappoint. Quick to throw together and so versatile, plus Herbs De Provence?! These will definitely be a part of my rotation.

      1. Delicious and quick to prepare when you need extra protein in your day. Thank you. Gina, for great recipes that we can count on

  115. I don’t know what I did wrong. I filled the instructions exactly. I cooked them the exact time. But mine were more pale, even though skin was crispy, and when I cut into one there was some blood and red meat. Help!

    1. Maybe your air fryer is not as powerful, if it has less watts all my recipes will require more time. Also if you are using an oven that has an AF feature, it will not be the same, you will have to add more time.

    2. I use a meat thermometer with every protein I make in the air fryer. It has saved a lot of meat going to the garbage.

  116. These were the absolutely most amazing thighs I’ve ever made! Hands down! Even my kids chowed down on them! The only thing I’d say is I will cook them like two minutes less on the second side, but otherwise, absolute freaking perfection! 😋

  117. Quick and easy to prepare and absolutely delicious. I served it with a summer squash and zucchini saute. Great meal!

  118. OMG! This was SO delicious. Great rub seasonings and easy easy easy! Served with Gina’s House Salad. Definitely will do this one again. Love all her recipes. We have been eating “Skinnytaste” since 2015 and very very seldom do we ever stray.

  119. My first time air frying and this recipe was easy and delicious. Skin was really crispy and chicken was moist.

  120. Finally found the best chicken recipe. Use it on wings, drumstix ans split breaststroke. So simple but so good.

  121. is there any reason why I cant season the chicken in the morning, cover and cook at night? I write similar questions on so many of your recipes and have yet to get a response–here’s to hoping I get one this time. I am a working mom and while I like to make home cooked meals every night, I need to prep things in the morning in order to get them on the table on time at night! I know seasoming takes a minute but when you are already 10 minutes behind schedule and have 2 screaming kids even saving a minute with seasoning ahead time really helps.

  122. I have made recipes from skinnytaste 2 nights in a row for dinner. This was fantastic. It is going on our regular meal rotation. So good and easy!! Thank you for such wonderful recipes. Can’t wait to make more!!

  123. Oops – I am ready to make this and the thighs I have are boneless/skinless. Will it work? How should I adjust? Thanks!

    1. Using boneless thighs, you’ll need to reduce the cooking time. Once they reach 165°F with a meat thermometer, they’re done. 🙂

  124. Got a new air fryer and this was the very first recipe I tried. The chicken thighs were perfectly cooked after 24 minutes and were delicious! They were completely cooked and nice and crispy. Used recipe herb mix and added a little cayenne for a small kick. I served with Spanish rice and carrots. Will definitely be making these again!

  125. The flavours were amazing! We paired the chicken thighs with the thyme-roasted carrot fries and rice. Perfection!

  126. This recipe is absolute fire! We used hot Hungarian paprika and added a bit of cayenne cause we’re spicy. We only had boneless/skinless and I have a weird airfryer/convection oven combo thing so I had to cook it 30 min, flipping it three times. I was suspicious because I’ve never used lemon juice instead of EVOO, but I am happy to report I was wrong. It’s also clearly a very forgiving recipe. 10/10!

  127. Great recipe. Cooked in our Ninja in less time than called for, so depending on the brand you use UMMV…

  128. Excellent recipe. The seasonings were perfect. I cooked exactly as described. 24 minutes total and it came out great.

  129. Made this exactly per the recipe, and it was delish! (But frankly, just about everything I’ve made from this site has been, so I expected it to be.) Glad to have something so easy, quick, and tasty to add to our rotation.

  130. Such an easy way to cook chicken thighs! Came out delicious and moist, this will definitely be a staple recipe for us!!

I did everything but had to use bottled lemon sometimes can’t get lemons in rural alaska I did the skin side down first because sometimes the skin sticks to the bottom and most of spices are on the skin on that side so tender and not dry, I am relatively new with air frying but going to cook most of my meats in this way. Thank you

    1. To prevent sticking, cut a parchment paper circle the size of the bottom of your air fryer and use it as a liner. It’ll prevent sticking and make your air fryer basket easier to clean 🙂

  132. This has become a staple at our house. In fact for my daughters birthday she requested it. Easy to make for a casual dinner with guests. The only thing I modify is down to 380 degrees as my skin was getting really burnt in my air fryer.

  133. Delicious results. Meat was tender and so tasty. I did as suggested and made a big green salad to go with.

  134. This was the first time I used my air fryer. I was nervous cooking the chicken but it came out delicious. The spices used worked great together. I’m definitely keeping this recipe. Best chicken I ever made.

  135. I made this last night in my Ninja grill. I followed the directions but added extra freshly squeezed lemon juice and doubled the paprika. They were fabulous! Moist and very well flavored. I had an extra one so my wife gave it to our neighbor across the street. She called later and said it was the best chicken she had ever eaten! Thanks for this keeper!

  136. Have a question: How big is the thigh weight after cooked here for 213 calorie? My pieces were huge, I took the skin off of mine before eating and after bone removed probably about 4 ounces of meat. So not sure about calories here. Will need to try to estimate. These were full of flavor, juicey and perfect. Seasonings great, used oregano for the herb this time. They seemed like a splurge. The air fryer does an amazing job.

  137. Made this recipe last night. It was quick to prepare & cook. Delicious too! This will be a regular meal for me!
    Thank You!

  138. This was very tasty! I ended up doing my chicken in batches of 3 to cook quicker and still did 15 min on either side. I have a combo air fryer vs basket and had to put tinfoil down to keep grease from dripping. I had 9 thighs total and the seasoning was enough for all. Definitely a keeper!

  139. Obsessed. This is now a go-to dinner party dish…. With your quick black beans, rice, and quick cabbage slaw. So so good. People think I’m a miracle maker (your quick black beans are heaven-sent). I always credit SkinnyTaste!!

  140. Loved this! The chicken was tender and juicy and crunchy on the outside. My husband doesn’t care for chicken, but really liked this recipe.

  141. My teen like NO food I make, unless it’s enchiladas or chili. And my chicken she will barely touch. She took one bite of this and said “Now THIS is the chicken I like!” 👍🏻❤️

  142. Perfect and delicious the very first time I made it! So moist and flavorful. And most importantly, easy and quick!

  143. Delicious! I used chicken wings with this recipe, 400 degrees for 10 minutes, flip add another 8 minutes.

So simple and great for a woman on her own. I have saved the recipe to be used often intge future. Thanks.

  145. This was absolutely wonderful. I used Trader Joe’s 21 salute blend for the last seasoning and per another commenters advice, started skin side down and flipped halfway through. I didn’t have lemon so I used and lime. This was fantastic and we will be adding it to our regular meal rotation. I used 3 large thighs and did 24 minutes at 400.

  146. This is the best chicken thigh recipe for the air fryer. The spice blend is just perfect with a bit of added thyme and oregano!

  147. Might be a stupid question but why doesn’t the ingredient list say half a lemon? The instructions only say to use half a lemon, what do I do with the other half? Lol.

    1. Either store it in the fridge for another recipe, or use it for drinks, fresh vegetables, salad dressing . . .

  148. fantastic recipe we are in Texas with a massive heat wave . I hate to crank up the oven. Many thanks, they were amazing!

This recipe was so simple and so delicious! Served in with a big salad with arugula, feta, and berries. A definite do-over!

  150. We had this tonight and it was tremendous! It was so easy to make and it was delicious. So little work to get such a great meal.

The first thing I made in my new airfryer was chicken thighs as per the recipe. As I live alone, I only cooked two, and they were delicious and so easy to make. I followed this up with the chicken nibble recipe which I took to a pot lunch yesterday. Another success. Thank you

  152. Delicious summer dinner serve with corn on the cob and watermelon. I agree with other comments. The skin was crispy, meat moist, and the rub delicious. Ingredients are staples at our house. Cooked to perfection, 12 minutes per side at 400 degrees. Remember to start with the thighs skin side down and turn over for another 12 minutes. Thank you!

  153. This recipe is why I bought an air fryer. The skin is so crispy and the meat inside is moist. I always have these ingredients on hand. That combined with it being an easy, tasty recipe will keep this meal in frequent rotation for us.

  154. I made this recipe a few weeks ago and making again today. Very moist and tasty. Definitely a repeater.

  155. My husband called this the best chicken he’s ever had. Very juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Perfect!

  156. This recipe is so tasty! One thing to note is that I have to cook the thighs for at least 20-24 minutes in my counter top air fryer, 12 minutes was not enough time to get it to the proper temperature and get the tops nice and crispy.

  157. Made this last night and it turned out great. I didn’t have a lemon on hand so I brushed them with melted butter. Served on kale with a splash of balsamic. I’ll be adding this to the list of quick dinner ideas, thank you!

This was both fabulous & easy.
I was almost finished & forgot to take a picture.next time.
I rarely cook chicken thighs & never eat the skin. But ate it all & will certainly make again

    1. I bought way too many chicken thighs on sale. My dog and I eat them. But. I have been making this recipe every other day. Delicious cold, too.

Had everything ready to go for this in no time flat. Then my air fryer wouldn’t turn on! Almost cried. Luckily the old unplug and plug in again (several times) worked and we had the most beautiful crispy chicken for dinner. 🥰

  160. This is one of my favorite, easy weeknight recipes. I have a Badia Southern Chicken blend of spices that basically has the same ingredients as listed here. The directions are spot on and my family absolutely loves this.

  161. Loved this. It was super quick and easy and really tasty. Good to have a sure-fire option in the quiver that doesn’t take long. Thanks for posting!

    1. How long did you cook the boneless, skinless thighs? That’s what I have on hand. Thank you in advance:)

  162. Tonight will be my 20th time making this amazing recipe. I was curious if I could make this on the grill or would that take away from the crispness that the air fryer provides?

  163. Made this for the first time tonight! Easy to make, great flavor, and my 2 year old grandson loved it! I will definitely be making it again.

  164. Ran out of time to make dinner, found your recipe. I used a dry BBQ rub for spice. It was outstanding. Definitely keeping this recipe in my back pocket for future use

    1. Oh and my 9mo went bananas over it. It’s the first meat that he has liked. Didn’t give him any of the spicy dry rub though

  165. Great recipe, remember to try and use chicken thighs that are more or less uniform in size. That way they should cook in the same amount of time and your larger piece won’t have spots that aren’t cooked through.

  166. Sooo good. The hint of lemon came through and added a really nice flavor to the chicken. Skin was perfectly crispy.

  167. This was delicious. Super easy to make and followed the recipe to a “T”. Will definitely be making this again!!

  168. This recipe is a keeper! I think I have it made it four times already. The recipe calls for very few ingredients and it is a quick, easy and satisfying meal.

  169. oh so good! Crispy browned and juicy. Thanks for the accurate instructions. I’m figuring things out with my new air fryer and this recipe is a keeper.

This chicken was incredibly juicy and the flavor of the seasonings was perfect. I will be making this as one of our favorites. It was easy and went together very quickly

  171. Make this!!! I love so many recipes from this site but I think I go back to this one most often. It is such an easy weeknight dinner and everyone loves it.

  172. Second time making this right now. Love this recipe. Chicken has great taste. Oh and the husband and teenager love it!

    1. You went out of your way to give her a 1 star because your browser couldn’t load the website properly? Update your browser man. This is a great recipe

  173. I don’t know if it was the lemon juice but oh my these were fantastic!! Thank you for sharing. My husband ensured I saved this recipe for the future.

  174. I previously used this recipe because I could not find a good recipe for air fryer chicken thighs. The family loved the finished product and I am now making them again. The instructions are easy to read and follow. This will now be my go to recipe for chicken thighs. Thanks.

  175. It sounds delicious and I would like to try it. My Air Fryer is in oven (not a countertop style), so do I need to adjust the temperature or time?

  176. Omg so good!!! I was curious about air frying raw chicken and I know your techniques are always perfect and easy to follow. I did an extra 2 min on broil to get extra crispy skin

  177. I made this and used preserved lemons, and it was beyond delicious. This recipe is definitely a keeper and my whole family loved it. I took the skin off and it was still Super crispy and moist and I didn’t miss the skin at all.

  178. I made this and use preserved lemons, and it was beyond delicious. This recipe is definitely a keeper in my whole family loved it. Super crispy and I didn’t miss the skin at all.

  179. I make these with bone-in thighs but take the skin off before seasoning/cooking. They’re still delicious!

  180. Decided to try this last night. Made it according to the recipe. This turned our great. It is a keeper for sure. The skin crisped up great and actually gave me that fried chicken crunch without all the fried chicken grease. My wife’s comment; “keep that recipe.”

  181. Just tried this recipe and WOW!! Never knew the air fryer could crisp like it did. Will be making it again. Thank you so much!!

Delicious. I used bottled lemon and Italian seasoning instead of Herbs De Province. Otherwise I followed the recipe. This is a keeper.

    1. I’m having major surgery on 3 days so I’m making things for the freezer. I’ve made 2 different crustless quiches today, cut them in half and froze them. I just finished this though recipe. My house smells so good! These will be going on the freezer, too when they cool off, and I plan to reheat them in the air fryer so that the skin can crisp up again. I hope this works! I can’t wait to try it.

  183. First time I made this, I ate 3 pieces! I usually only eat one and never the skin. The skin is so crispy, it’s like a pork cracklin. I’ve made this recipe about 5 times and will always make my chicken thighs this way.

  184. I made this with skinless boneless thighs and it was still delicious! Just not quite as crispy on the outside. 🙂

  185. This was excellent. Very easy and really juicy. Cooks perfectly in the stated time. Will make again. Thanks.

  186. 2nd time trying my new air fryer and I cannot believe it took me this long to try it. Fantastically moist and flavorful. Will make again and again

  187. Absolutely delicious!! Worth it to try it. I added more time but it depends on the size of the chicken tight.

  188. I made this tonight for dinner and it did not disappoint!! My 4 and 11 year olds asked for more chicken. So good and so easy!

  189. This looks great. My latest oven has an air fryer function. Is there something I would need to do differently to get the crispy look of these chicken thighs using the air fryer function of my oven?

Mmmm good, very easy. I served with sweet potatoes. Flavorful, with a nice tang from the lemon. Juicy and tender. Kids will love these.

  191. Excellent tasting chicken thighs. Very juicy and there was so much flavour! This will be my go to recipe as it was really easy to prepare as well.

  192. So so so good and easy. Makes me even more excited for the new cookbook coming out – you don’t need a lot to make a delicious meal.

  193. Not sure what air fryer you are using, but at 400• for only 20 minutes total my chicken came out WAY overcooked (200+ degrees)!! I probably could have done only 15 minutes at that high of a temperature.

I’m really curious about this too..I know this will be way too high temp and too much time. I have a cuisinart air fryer that almost looks like a toaster oven but has an air fryer option.

  194. Excellent! I have a very small Air Fryer so I make 4 Thighs, 2 at a time and enjoy 2 meals. I use all of the spices on the 4 thighs and it is delicious. Definitely a “go to” recipe!

    1. Love the seasoning on this chicken. We didn’t eat dark meat for a long time because I didn’t know what to do. Now with my air fryer we love it so much. This is a really good recipe but I do double it bc we like a lot of seasoning. It’s in the rotation and we eat it a few times a month.

  195. Hi. I’m on WW and would like to try this recipe. Can you please tell me how much each chicken thigh should weigh? Thanks

    1. You would use a 4 Oz (raw) thigh to match the nutrition facts for the recipe.
This is based on my RDN skills. Without skin it will be about 3 Oz.

  196. This was easy and delicious! I followed the recipe to the letter and my chicken was flavorful and tender. It’s going to be a staple as well as a jumping off point for other seasonings and experimentation. Thanks for the recipe!

  197. This was so delicious. The whole family loved it. Super moist with crispy skin, what more could you ask for! This will definitely be in rotation.

  198. This recipe was FANTASTIC! I made it exactly according to the directions, but added 4 additional minutes cooking time on each side, as I like to be sure my chicken is DONE. 16 minutes on each side was absolutely perfect! Definitely a keeper!

  199. This was a life saver. Not only for time but flavor. The skin was crispy and tasty, with moist. Told to make this again. This was my first time using the air fryer with chicken. Thank you for a great recipe.

  200. I love chicken thighs and this recipe didn’t disappoint! The only think I did differently was use a local market mixed seasoning as my herb mix and cooked about 10 mins longer. At the recommended time, I still had red and not clear juices. Otherwise, this was perfect!

  201. This was delish! Quick, easy, crispy and juicy! I have made it twice already. Thanks for another yummy recipe!

  202. Being Greek I always season with lemon, olive oil and oregano. I am new to the air fryer. The chicken came out moist and delicious.

  203. I make this recipe every couple weeks. It’s easy, delicious and full of flavor!!! I add some of my own spices(cumin, and turmeric)but it’s great!

    1. I use my convection oven which is part of my double oven. The convection acts like an air fryer.
So I used the same temperature and time to cook the chicken in your oven air fryer option.

    2. My oven has the air fry option and this recipe turned out great! Depending on the size of the thighs time will vary a bit but the temperature will be the same. Very important to have a rack to place chicken on and a tray that catch any dripping. No need to turn chicken over as the rack should be about a couple inches higher then the tray!

  204. I never liked dark meat chicken until I tried several of your recipes. This is a bi-weekly rotation in our house. Thank you for all the delicious dishes, they never disappoint.

  205. This is a family favorite at our house from the 1st grader all the way up! We add a 1/2 tsp of Pleasoning Chicken Seasoning to the rub and enjoy! This makes great leftovers, that is if it isn’t all gobbled up…Yummo! Highly recommend it – ready in a jiffy too!

  206. Delicious only had fresh lime juice but otherwise didn’t change a thing. Crunchy delicious skin will definitely make again

  207. It was fast and easy to make. It came out very juicy and delicious. I will defiantly add this to my cookbook and make it again.

  208. My air fryer is small and I would have to cook in batches. How can I keep the cooked chicken warm for serving without it drying up or getting soggy?

    1. Set it aside, then when the second batch is done, add it all back together and heat everything 1 minute

  209. We made these last night but instead of lemon juice we soaked the thighs in buttermilk all day (like your whole chicken recipe) and they were delicious!

  210. After reading the comments (and my own cooking knowledge) I started at 350, flipped after 15 minutes, and raised the temperature to 375. For another 15 minutes. The looked fabulous and we’re delicious! Wish I could post a photo!

  211. This was excellent! I didn’t have enough – we were fighting for the last piece. I added chipotle pepper to the seasoning and it was crispy and amazing. Adding this to the weekly rotation.

  212. First time using an air fryer…do you use the crisper plate for this? And do you st it at air fry or air roast?

This was the first recipe I have ever done in an air fryer. I got one for Christmas 🎄 ☺️ The chicken was so tender and juicy! The outside was nice and crunchy. Thank you!

  213. I ended up having to cook this in my oven broiler. So much smoke coming from the air fryer! We our air fryer a lot and generally don’t have a smoke issue. Bummed because it would be so convenient. Flavor is good, though.

  214. Loved the spice blend! My only issue was that the skin burned/charred before the end of the suggested cooking time. Even with large chicken thighs—it took just 20 minutes at 390 and probably could have done less.

Forgot to give 5 stars. I have never been able to make crispy “fried” chicken in a traditional oven – usually is undercooked. I am kind of an air fryer novice, but this air fryer recipe is incredible. Thank you so much!!!

  217. Will never make chicken thighs any other way! These come out so crispy and it’s so simple to throw them in the air fryer!

  218. These came out so good!  My thighs were larger (laughing as I typed that haha) so I cooked 15 mins on each side.  Perfection.  I served with the Fennel Gratin.  Delicious combo.  Thank you Gina!

Delish. Used my favorite seasoning which is similar. Didn’t use the lemon. Will try that next time.

  220. Made this last night! Amazing! We will only do our chicken thighs this way from now on! I did have to cut the last 12 minutes to 10 though. My thighs were small and the first batch, the skin was very very dark. Larger thighs would have been perfect! The chicken came out so moist too! Love this recipe!

  221. This was so quick, easy and delicious for a busy school night. Our kids declared it “best chicken ever”! This will definitely make its way into our regular rotation!

  222. I am obsessed with your recipes now. I have tried 3 air fryer recipes back to back and we have all loved them. I just made this chicken recipe tonight and it was delicious. I am kind of skeptical about chicken because it tastes dry sometimes. I am so glad u have found you 🙂 . Thank you so much !!! 🙂

  223. This recipe was perfect. SUPER easy to make, very quick, and the flavors were delicious. Easy busy weeknight dinner.

  224. How long can I prep these ahead of time? Is it on for the thighs to sit for awhile in the lemon juice? I know with fish you want to be careful about exposing it to an acidic marinade for more than a short time.

      1. Turned out perfectly!!! But after several batches, I’ve learned I really need to wipe down in between.

  225. Superb!

    Many thanks Gina!

I am completely loving my air fryer now.

Bought it two years ago (along with your air fryer cookbook, here in Spain via Amazon), made two things and it went in the cupboard and bookshelf respectively.

Due to Putin and his small appendage complex, have needed to reduce utility costs, as most of us here in Europe have had to.

So past 4 months have been using it 2 or 3 times a week and absolutely love it.

Will try this one tomorrow night for the better half.

I can’t eat, so am cooking just for her and she is being a very patient guinea pig!

Never cooked before, would ruin a boiled egg and still can’t do rice!

Your chicken Parmesan Caprese and the spiced yogurt-marinated thighs, she has loved by the way!

So please keep adding air fryer recipes.

    Many thanks Gina!!

  226. I have a similar question. I don’t have an air fryer. but I do have a convection toaster oven. How long and at what temp would you suggest cooking. This sounds delicious.

  227. I don’t have an air fryer. How can I still use this recipe? It looks SO good!!
You said I already asked my question but I didn’t see a reply!

    1. I cook these in the oven all the time. 400 degrees for 50-55 minutes, but I don’t flip them. (Skin up)
      Super easy and delicious.

Just got an air fryer for Christmas. Want to try this recipe. I only want to cook 2 thighs at a time. Anytime I’m using an air fryer and only cooking thighs for 1 do I cook them for the same time or reduce the time?
Thank you and Happy New Year!

  229. Step #1 is a bit confusing. Did you mean ‘squeeze lemon juice over thighs’ and then season?  Thanks!

  230. Love this recipe and idea, but wondering if it would work with the skinless thighs I have in the freezer. I’m concerned that they may dry out. Any workarounds you would suggest?

    1. I use this recipe solely for the time and temperature to air fry chicken thighs. I always season and marinade with other recipes. And it always works skin or no skin. Just marinate or brine skinless meat first.
