Strawberries and Cream

On weekends, I occasionally like to treat myself to dessert. If you’ve never made whipped cream from scratch before, you’re in for a treat! One of my favorite ways to lighten whipped cream is to whip it up and fold in some Greek yogurt. It gives it a slight tang, which is wonderful with fruit and cuts down on the fat and calories. Perfect for a quick and easy dessert, or try them in crepes or on Yogurt Waffles.

I partnered with Stonyfield, my favorite yogurt brand, to create this healthy dessert with their Stonyfield Organic 0% Fat Plain Greek Yogurt. I love Stonyfield because I know that their products are “good on purpose” – good for you, the planet, and your taste buds. Their organic yogurt is from pasture-raised cows and has no toxic, persistent pesticides. The creamy 0% Fat Greek yogurt is the perfect choice if you’re trying to reduce your fat intake. Plus, it’s high in protein and has live active cultures.

How to Make Yogurt Whipped Cream:

All you’ll need to make yogurt whipped cream is a hand mixer and these four ingredients:

  • Sugar
  • Chilled whipping cream
  • Pure vanilla extract
  • Fat-free plain Greek yogurt

Put the sugar, vanilla, and chilled whipping cream in a bowl. Using a hand mixer, whisk at medium speed for two to three minutes until the cream reaches stiff peaks. Then, fold or whisk in the yogurt for about 15 seconds until incorporated.

What to Eat with Whipped Cream

  • This yogurt whipped cream is so good with strawberries, but if they’re not in season, serve it over another fruit like bananas, raspberries, or peaches.
  • It would be delicious on top of pies, crumbles, waffles, and more.
  • You could also use the healthy whipped cream in any recipe that called for regular whipped cream, like these Czech Crepes with Berries and Cream.

Can this be made ahead of time to use over a few days if it’s just being made for one person?

  2. Looks delish! If you prefer non-sugar sweeteners you can use powdered Lakanto or Swerve in the place of sugar (same amount) There’s usually no/minimal cooling affect in these types of desserts. I’ve used it for regular whipped cream or whipped cream+cream cheese but haven’t tried it with Greek yogurt yet…

  3. I always add a dollop of Greek yogurt to my whipped cream. It seems to help the whipped cream hold in order to make it ahead. I’ve had it in the frig for several days and it still tastes fresh and has lovely peaks!

A tip my grandmother always gave me for making whipped cream was to also chill the bowl and the beaters before beginning. It helps to form stiffer peaks faster.

  5. Thank you so much for sharing. I love whipped cream and strawberry, but I never thought to add yogurt into the whipped cream. It makes for an easy, light dessert. I really like the tanginess it adds and it has more depth.
