Broiled Tilapia with Garlic

Let me start by saying I don’t usually buy tilapia because I prefer to buy wild fish. But when I occasionally buy it, I am reminded of how good it is and not fishy tasting.

This broiled tilapia recipe is one of my oldest recipes I shared back in 2008, and I reshot it because it needed updating. Tilapia is a lean fish high in protein, low in calories, and full of vitamins and minerals, like selenium. I know many of you eat tilapia, but if you don’t, feel free to swap it for pollack, flounder, sole, or any white fish fillet you like.

How to Broil Tilapia

There are many easy ways to cook fish, but broiling is honestly the easiest, and it cooks so fast, which is always a dinner win! To broil tilapia, place it on a sheet pan or broiler rack lined with foil if you wish, and broil it on low six to eight inches from the heating element. There’s no need to flip the fish as it will cook through.

What To Serve With Tilapia

This healthy broiled tilapia is the perfect main for so many sides. Below are some side dish suggestions.

Variations:

  • Fish: Substitute tilapia with another white fish, like cod, flounder, pollack, or sole.
  • Herbs: I used fresh parsley and dried oregano, but feel free to sub any combination of dried and fresh herbs.
  • Cooking Method: If you don’t have a broiler, you can bake the fish in the oven or cook it on the stove.
