Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs

I eat hard boiled eggs for breakfast or lunch just about every day! Since discovering this method, this is the only way I make hard boiled eggs now. No waiting for the water to boil, just place the eggs in the air fryer and walk away. Some of my go-to salads with eggs are Classic Egg Salad, Chickpea Egg Salad, and this Asparagus Egg and Bacon Salad.

My go-to breakfast is hard boiled eggs with Everything Seasoning, so good!

I’m sure when you think of air fryers you think of air fryer french fries, or egg rolls, or even chicken wings! And yes, I make all of those things in my air fryer, but it’s funny, these hard boiled eggs have become a part of my morning routine because it’s so much faster than any other method. It’s the only way I “boil” eggs now. I can get them started and walk away to finish getting ready for my morning. I love that I don’t have to stand over them to make sure they don’t boil over on a stove. Don’t get me wrong, I still love making hard boiled eggs in my Instant Pot, especially because they peel so easy, but for saving time, the air fryer wins!

Do Air Fryers Cook Faster?

Yes! An air fryer is basically a counter-top convection oven with a heated coil (usually at the top) a mesh or metal basket, and a fan that circulates the heat around the foods at convection oven rates which creates an intense environment of heat that consequently cooks foods faster and more evenly.

Here, using cold eggs right out of the refrigerator, I have played around with different times, and found they come out perfect cooked 250F for 15 minutes, without pre-heating the air fryer with a slightly soft yolk. If you like a more solid yolk, I would cook it for 17 minutes. Once they are ready, simply rinse them under cold water and peel.

Since all air fryers makes and models vary in watts, you may have to play around and experiment with yours. This is tested with the 1700 watt Skinnytaste by Vremi Air Fryer which is finally available for pre-order on Amazon (US only). As the ship date gets closer, Canadians and Hawaii will also be able to order it on the Vremi website, I will be announcing as that gets closer (shipping fees will be extra). This is the air fryer I use to create all my air fryer recipes for my blog and the Skinnytaste Air Fryer Cookbook (affil link).

Play around with your air fryer and experiment to see what gives you the best results and let me know how it works out!

  1. Do you have a recipe for hot cross buns Not using Greek yogert????? I don’t care for the flavor

  2. For a Ninja Foodi, what setting? Pressure, steam, sauté/sear, air crisp, bake/toast or broil??

  3. This recipe alone has made me glad I invested in an air fryer.. I make six eggs at a time and cook them for 17 minutes. I then soak them in a bowl of ice water for about 7 minutes and they peel so easily. Thank you!

  4. Finally bought an air fryer and just prepped some of these eggs for the week! So excited!

  5. I did mine just like the instructions and my eggs came out perfect. I did the 250 for 15 mins. Love the softer yoke. I’m so glad I found this recipe.

  6. I just did 4 eggs (fresh from the coop”) at 250 for 17 minutes and they were awesome! Fresh eggs are usually hard to peel but not today!! This is my new go-to for hard boiled eggs. Thanks for all you do to make eating healthy taste so amazing.

  7. Can I make a dozen at one time?  I’m assuming you make 4/day because eat them at bkfst and lunch!  Thanks!  I’m excited to try this!

  8. Best way to make a small batch of hard boiled eggs!
I followed the recipe exactly. 4 eggs for 17 minutes at 250°
Then I put them in an ice water bath for 10 minutes. Easiest peeled eggs ever! Don’t skip on cooling the eggs for a decent amount of time.

  9. I was really excited when I saw this recipe….until I tried to peel one. They don’t peel. I ruined 8 eggs. Will definately stick to the instant pot for eggs.

    • They always peel fine for me, but yes IP peels easier.

    • I had the same problem but then after a 10 minute soak in the ice water and letting them sit for 10 extra minutes, they peeled great. I think they just need time to full cool and set.

  10. This recipe did not work out for me. I have a ninja air fryer. The larger size. My air fryer temp does not go down to 250 degrees. So I set it to bake at 250 for 15 mins. The yolk was really runny. So I put them back in for another 6 mins on bake at 250 and still were really runny. Would not recommend this with a ninja air fryer.

    • Second this! We have a Ninja Foodie and they seemed barely cooked after 16 min. I put them in another 15; I will say that I used to use a small Dash and still had the same problem. Maybe I’m doing something wrong 🤷🏻‍♀️

  11. This worked perfectly for me! I did 250 for 18 min no pre heat. I did five eggs at a time. Make sure to not over crowd the basket! I will be doing this from now on. Mine also peeled easy.

  12. I just love doing eggs in the air fryer. A genius recipe. Easy and they turn out perfectly -in 14 to 15 minutes for my “large” eggs.

  13. I just tried this with cold eggs from the grocery store I bought today. The white and the yolk are done but I destroyed the eggs getting the shells off. The shell would not separate from the egg; I did rinse them in cold water. ???

  14. AMAZING.  Will never make HB eggs on the stove again. AFYI the WW app says 1 hard boiled egg is only 2 points on the green plan!

  15. Fantastic recipe! Excellent yolk at 250* for 15 or 16 minutes. Never going back to boiling eggs. Thank you for sharing!!

  16. Perfect!! I use an Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid  attachment, and set the  fryer at 250/bake  for 15 minutes. Perfect fluffy yellow center. Easy cook easy peel! Thank you for a great idea!

  17. I usually make hard boiled eggs in my Instant Pot.
I tried just one egg for starters in my 5.8-quart Cosori air fryer and the egg came out perfectly @250 for 15 minutes. No green ring, and the yolk was a little softer in the very center. Next time I’m knocking a minute off (14) because I like my yolks best when they are just a little creamy.
I’m not sure why so many are having issues unless they have too many eggs in the fryer or maybe their eggs are too big. Mine was large, not extra-large.

  19. Turned out perfect! 15 mins at 250. Thanks

  20. Is the air fry temp at 250 degrees? I have a Breville, and I can select a range of temps… Can’t wait to try this!
