Blue Cheese Dressing Recipe

Homemade Blue Cheese Dressing Recipe

If you’ve ever bought buttermilk just for one recipe, only to toss the rest—this blue cheese dressing is for you. Made with protein-rich Greek yogurt and no buttermilk, it’s thick, creamy, and loaded with tangy blue cheese. Perfect for drizzling over wedge salads, dunking buffalo wings, or spooning onto a steak sandwich. It’s an easy, better-for-you twist on the classic that skips the extra fuss (and waste). Most readers commented this tastes even better the next day and thickens up in the fridge making this perfect for make-ahead prep.

Why This Works

I tested this blue cheese dressing many years ago while developing a lighter spin for a classic steakhouse-style wedge salad and ended up loving it as a dip, too.

  • No buttermilk needed—so nothing goes to waste

  • Made with Greek yogurt for a lighter, high-protein twist

  • Just a touch of mayo for classic creamy flavor

  • Ready in minutes—no blender required

  • Perfect for salads, wings, or dipping veggies

  • Healthier Than Store Bought – No weird ingredients, and it’s also more economical

Ingredients You’ll Need

I prefer preparing homemade blue cheese salad dressing over buying it because I know exactly what’s in it and can use clean ingredients. Here’s what you’ll need (see recipe card for exact measurements):

blue cheese, yogurt, mayo, lemon
  • Blue Cheese: Using high-quality blue cheese is essential for the best blue cheese dressing.
  • 0% Greek Yogurt makes this dressing light but still creamy.
  • Light Mayonnaise balances the tanginess of the Greek yogurt.
  • Acid: Lemon juice and white wine vinegar thin the yogurt and complement the richness of the blue cheese.
  • Seasoning: Garlic powder, salt, and black pepper enhance the overall taste.

How to Make Blue Cheese Dressing

Making homemade blue cheese dressing is as easy as 1-2-3! (See the printable instructions in the recipe card.)

  1. Mash the blue cheese and yogurt with a fork.
  2. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Variations

  • Extra chunky: Stir in additional crumbles just before serving.
  • No mayo? Use all Greek yogurt or sour cream.
  • If you prefer a less tangy dressing, start with a half tablespoon of lemon juice and vinegar. If you like the taste, use water for the remaining half of the liquid to thin it.

Tips From The Skinnytaste Community

  • Too thick? Many readers suggest thinning it with water, milk, or even a splash of Italian dressing. Letting it sit in the fridge also helps the texture.
  • Too tangy? If the vinegar or lemon is too strong, reduce the amount slightly or add a touch of mayo or sour cream to mellow it out.
  • No yogurt fans: Several readers swapped some of the Greek yogurt for sour cream to soften the “yogurt” tang without losing creaminess.
  • Add-ins that work: Onion powder, garlic powder, fresh herbs, or even a splash of buttermilk powder add great depth.
  • Make it chunkier: A few noted they added extra blue cheese crumbles after chilling to boost the texture.
  • Storage tip: Most readers agree it tastes even better the next day and thickens up in the fridge—perfect for make-ahead prep.

Proper Storage

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Stir before serving.

Blue Cheese Dressing

Blue Cheese Dressing Recipe FAQ

Is blue cheese just ranch with blue cheese?

Blue cheese and ranch are both thick, creamy salad dressings, but they are seasoned differently. Ranch contains no cheese and gets its signature flavor from dried herbs, like dill and parsley. Blue cheese dressing’s primary flavor is, obviously, blue cheese.

How many carbs are in blue cheese dressing?

Blue cheese dressing is a great low-carb option. A 2-tablespoon serving has 3.5 grams of carbohydrates.

Why does my homemade blue cheese dressing get watery?

The blue cheese dressing may get watery as it sits in the refrigerator, but that’s normal. Just stir it before serving and add more blue cheese to thicken it if necessary.

How do I thin out my homemade blue cheese dressing?

If you have the opposite issue, and your dressing is too thick, thin it with water or buttermilk, a tablespoon at a time, until it’s a pourable consistency.

  1. So yummy. I buy a really good blue cheese at Costco, this is so delicious and so easy to make. I use full fat yogurt. I hate store bought dressings.

  2. Found this recipe a few years back and it is my go to. It is great as it is. Love the tanginess. I will add buttermilk if I have it on hand. Perfect in a deconstructed wedge salad. Hubby always comments how much he likes it.

  3. So good, I could eat it with a spoon! I will admit that we had ordered wings the day before, and I had a little leftover blue cheese dip left to compare it too. I was a little disappointed at the difference in taste, so I added a couple of tbsp of light Miracle Whip. It gave it a little sweetness that I felt it needed.

  4. Delicious I used full fat Greek Yogurt and Mayo and only had garlic salt so I didn’t add salt. I loved that it didn’t have that heavy weighed down taste it was a perfect light dressing.

  5. This is DELICIOUS. I love regular blue cheese dressing but the calories for two tablespoons limit how much I can use. Now, I can easily use three and adequately cover my salads! Thanks so much!

  6. Oh, my goodness!! This is just like the Bleu Cheese Dressing from a high-end Steakhouse!! So easy to make. I did add 2t of buttermilk powder and, because mine was so thick, a small unmeasured amount of Half-n-Half to thin it. Also put a small clove of garlic thru the press. I can hardly wait for dinner tonight to enjoy this delight! Knocked it out of the park, Gina – Thank You!!

I just made this, wow! So good. I used to use OPA yogurt based Blue Cheese dressing and is now discontinued..this is the next best thing. I may try 1/2 greek yogurt and 1/2 sour cream next time to make it a little thinner…

  8. This is absolutely delicious! I love that it’s low fat, but tastes creamy and decadent. I made it exactly as per the recipe using Oikos plain Greek yogurt (although it is 2%). It’s a bit thick right now, so I may thin it a bit before using on a wedge salad. A definite keeper!

  9. I cut the Greek Yogurt to 4 oz and subbed 2 oz light sour cream and used distilled white vinegar instead because I didn’t have white wine vinegar. I must say, I’ve tried a LOT of low-cal dressings before… This one I actually like! It’s really good and I’ll definitely be using this in the future!

  10. I want to add fresh garlic to this already Fantastic salad dressing, just wondering how much I should add

  11. Super easy and fast to make. I used Greek Gods plain greek yogurt. I used rice wine vinegar. I only used 1/2T mayo. I added some onion powder and 1T of buttermilk powder. Very tasty.

  12. I made this tonight and it was so delicious, I love how it turned out. I now don’t want store bought dressing, I just make Skinnytaste dressing and it’s so much better.

  13. This was very good. Used it for buffalo wings. I just wish it could be thicker but I didn’t want to mess with the ingredients or the point value.

  14. It’s good but it definitely has too much of that “yogurt” taste. I might try the tweaks someone else suggested but the only true issue I have is I followed the directions exactly as written and mine is way too thick. What is the best way to thin it down?

  15. This is the fastest, best blue cheese dressing I have made. Use a good quality blue cheese and you will not be disappointed. Does not need to sit very long before using, but does get better, and thicker, once refrigerated overnight.

  16. This was so good (and I have never liked blue cheese dressing before!) I made it for my husband to put on Buffalo shrimp tacos, tasted it and had to put it on mine, as well! We both loved it and it was so easy to make!

  17. As written this was WAY too yogurt-y and vinegary/lemony. You can definitely tell this was a yogurt based dressing. Once we tweaked it a bit it was good. I had about 2 TBS of Mayo left in the jar that helped but still a little off. Next I added about 1 TBS of Sour Cream and about a 1/8 tsp of more Garlic powder. Big improvement. It was quite thin at first but I put in the fridge and it got thick. It’s not exactly low fat anymore but probably still way better then store bought

  18. I love Blue Cheese Dressing but hat the calories! This is awesome and probably better that the calorie filled one.

  19. I love blue cheese dressing and while I have tried so many prepared ones that fall just short of one my grandma made for years….this one comes so so close! – Thank you for invoking this memory and also for a delicious alternative to store bought blue’s….and best yet low calorie (points for me).

  20. I have been a huge blue cheese dressing fan since I was little. I hate bottled blue cheese and esp the healthier versions as they are always sooooo sweet – yuck.
This was a perfect blue cheese dressing, I’d even pick it over full fat. I was really surprised, I knew it’d be good but just didn’t think this good. And I’m happy because I can eat it again more often and not feel guilty!

  21. Made tonight.  Substituted red wine Vinegar because I didn’t have  the white.  Not sure if regular vinegar would have been better but the family really liked it- it was so easy to make.

  22. This is the absolute best Blue Cheese dressing I’ve ever had. It tastes great on anything and everything. I especially like it on the Skinnytaste Buffalo Chicken Meatballs.

  23. This recipe is a 10/10 every time. Nothing on the grocery store aisle comes close. And it’s really easy to make too! I always use a little more bleu cheese cause I like it extra chunky, and swap out ACV for white vinegar.

I love this recipe, and I have made it many times before- but I haven’t made it for a while. I could swear there was onion powder in it?

This is the best homemade blue cheese on earth. I’ve made it multiple times and always come back to it! It’s even better if you make it ahead of time (I did 16 hours) because the flavors really blend well! Amazing!!!

  26. The BEST Blue Cheese Dressing I have ever tasted! I love that it doesn’t make a huge amount, but of course, you can easily double/triple, etc. the recipe if you need more.

Pairs perfectly with your recipe for Buffalo Chicken Meatballs. I love using the meatballs for a sub and not just appetizers. For a snack, I enjoy the dressing on slices of Granny Smith Apples.

Very pleased with the nutritional information as well!

Whoa! I wasn’t sure I was going to like this dressing/dip. But, wow!. This was so good. What I liked most was that it wasn’t to wet. Most blue cheese dressings gross me out, due to their watery base/thinness, not this. I failed to get white wine vinegar so I used ACV. The substitution was fine. I used for dipping the Skinnytaste air fryer buffalo chicken. Now I have to find other foods to put this on. Another winner.

I genuinely prefer this dressing over any bottled or restaurant creamy blue cheese dressing. I take it with me when I (used to – darn COVID-19) eat out. I don’t put in a full Tbsp of vinegar because I am very sensitive to the sour and I prefer the full Tbsp of fresh lemon juice. I also give it a good kick of the pepper. So good! So good!

  28. This is the best blue cheese dressing EVER! On a side note, I leave out the mayo (just a personal preference).

  29. This was easy to make and delicious!  I normally buy a yogurt blue cheese dressing at the store but it has that weird aftertaste and this one doesnt!  This will be my go to dressing from now on!

    1. The over powering vinegar taste is not good. Can’t add anything vto make it better, very disappointed

  30. This was amazing. Blue cheese dressing is not my usual go to salad dressing but this was so crazy good that I have become a fan and I will use it on sandwiches too.

  31. This was delicious! I’ve never been a huge fan of blue cheese from the bottle, and blue cheese from the restaurants are way too high in calories for me. This was a perfect substitute!

  32. Absolutely delicious. I did not have white wine vinegar but I substituted regular white vinegar (half tbsp instead of 1 tbsp).

  33. Excellent! Perfect way for me to use that 1/2 a block of bleu cheese my sister-in-law sent me home with after Thanksgiving. Very creamy consistency and is great on little gem lettuce, romaine, and butter lettuce.

  34. Soooo good!   I used canned chicken breast which worked out fine dince I didn’t have time to shred my own. I also reduced the amount of hot sauce because I don’t like it too spicy. I would definitely make these again!   They were a big hit!

  35. Gina is there a way to make this last longer than 5 days? I live alone and cannot eat that much in 5 days!

Maybe just halving it I guess?
I adore blue cheese anything btw, although my kids hated it growing up…
thank you for all your amazing recipes!! I have your first book but want your IP one one of these days…

  36. To die for!!!!!!!! Most amazing homemade blue cheese ever!!!
    Quick question though…
When I put the nutritional information in the ww app…it shows 2 smart points per serving. Is this correct?

So simple and delicious! We do wings every weekend and my husband and I both love blue cheese dressing. This is just as good as the full fat version from our favorite wings restaurant. Thank you!

  38. Made this today for the first time to go with your buffalo chicken lettuce wraps and the Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls (yes…..I having a huge craving for buffalo wings). I usually hate low fat dressing and usually splurge on full fat dressings since I use so little on my salads, but this does not taste “diety” at all. I did add about 3 tablespoons of water since it was a little thicker then I wanted. I am a huge blue cheese dressing fan and This will be a regular staple in my fridge. Love how the lemon gave it such a fresh after taste. I think I actually like it better then store bought full fat versions I’ve tried. I especially like how quick it was to make and that I didn’t need to get out a blender or food processor.

  39. This is SO easy and is very authentic tasting.  My husband loves his blue cheese dressing and this version he really enjoys and helps him keep his WW points low!

  40. This is so spectacular! It is my new go to dressing and it’s making me eat more salad. As for the question about making it thinner, I added some Ken’s lite italian dressing to mine and it gave it the thinner consistency and kept it low points and super flavorful! Thanks, Gina for all of your recipes!

  41. This is DELICIOUS! I would have liked it a little thinner. Do you have any suggestion to keep the flavor but make it thinner? Should I just add some water?

I just made this. I don’t think I will ever buy blue cheese dressing again. It’s phenomenal

    1. I’m trying to figure out the nutrition information for the full fat version of this recipe for Keto. Can you help? It’s so yummy with my homemade grass fed Greek yogurt (like fage 5%) and olive oil mayo.

      1. If you download the free app called Lose It, you can input your own recipes by searching up all the ingredients and it will tell you how many calories it is per serving

  43. This dressing is delicious! Just had chicken tenders in Franks Hot Sauce with celery sticks while watching college football. All the taste without the Points. Highly recommended. Thank you !!!

  44. OMG. . . Absolutely delicious. Can’t tell it is made from Greek Yogurt!  How’d you do that Gina?!?!?

  45. I have made this twice this week as we are eating a ton of salad, and watching our calorie consumption.  This is so much better than store-bought blue cheese dressing, and I love knowing exactly what is in it!  Thanks for such great recipes.

  46. I absolutely love blue cheese dressing and am very picky so it’s hard to impress me with a good recipe. This is probably the best homemade recipe I’ve tried! Thanks again for a great recipe!

i LOVE this dressing! It’s great on your buffalo chicken tenders, it’s my go-to on baked potatoes, and it also works on so many other things, including the buffalo turkey burger I had for lunch today. I always have a container of this in my fridge since I first saw the recipe a couple of months ago.

  49. How fantastic to find a recipe that doesn’t destroy the dressing by adding sweeteners! Sugar in this is bad enough but artificial sweeteners make it inedible (for me, anyway).

    Thank you!

  50. I made these and served them on a bed of zoodles (microwaved with a little olive oil, S&P). What a hit! My boyfriend loved them, as did I. I subbed sriracha for the hot sauce, because that’s what I had, and they were perfect. Thank you for sharing this recipe! I feel really good about eating and serving these.

    1. Woops! This comment was for the chicken meatballs, but I also made the blue cheese dressing to serve them with, and it, too was a delicious complement. Very easy dinner tonight!

  51. Gina, I have to say this is my absolute favorite and has been a life saver for me. I eat it almost every afternoon. I dip roasted cauliflower in 1 T. of it for a snack. This has been my Weight Watcher trick for a while now. The cauliflower fills me up and the blue cheese dressing makes me happy! Thanks so much! I think it’s better than regular blue cheese dressing. You’re the best!

I made this last night and had it with homemade buffalo chicken tenders and celery. Delicious! So much better than any low fat store bought version!

  53. Has anyone ever discovered the shelf life?? Love this, but don't want to waste it or have to keep making it every few days.

  54. Made this tonight to go with your Buffalo Cauliflower Bites and it was awesome! Forgot to buy a lemon at the grocery store, but I just doubled the vinegar and it was still delish.

  55. What can I substitute for the Greek yogurt? I'm allergic to Greek yogurt, I can eat regular yogurt though!

  56. My husband loved it! We made it for the Buffalo Turkey Burger recipe but then my husband asked to have a salad (he rarely does that!) just so he could have more blue cheese! I'm not a big blue cheese fan but I thought it was good too

  57. I adore blue cheese dressing so this is right up my alley. Can't wait to try it and stop buying the bottled stuff.

  58. My favorite wing place uses Red Wine vinegar in their dressing. Dying to make this version with red wine vinegar now!!

  59. It's wonderful, I did it and it turned out so great and tasty and so light for health, thank you!!!

  60. Delicious! I had just enough blue cheese to make half of this recipe. I didn't have the vinegar so I used skim milk to thin it to dressing consistency. Using this recipe will save me one point compared to the light blue cheese I've been eating, but I'm not sure how budget friendly it'll be.

    Gina,

    Thanks!!

Love your site! Always recommending to to people who talk about their love for comfort food and how hard it is to eat healthy!

  62. Can't wait to try this! I always make my own dressing, but using full fat may and sour cream. Blue Cheese is my favorite!

  63. Amazing dressing! Made it to go along with the Buffalo Chicken Lettuce Wraps and I am shocked and amazed at how much it tastes like a regular, full fat dressing! So hard to not eat it by the spoonful! 🙂

  64. This was wonderful with the Buffalo Chicken lettuce Wraps and this is coming from a non Blue Cheese Dressing fancier

  65. This dressing is absolutely delicious!! I had company over last Sunday and my guests loved it!!! I'm actually going to be making more as we speak to go with my dinner.. Thanks for a great recipe!!!

  66. Hi Gina. Thanks for the amazing recipe! I was just wondering about the Fridge Shelf life of the dressing? Would it last 1 week in an airtight container?

  67. Made this exactly as recipe states – it was nice and thick so I added just about 1 – 2 tsps of low fat buttermilk to stretch it. It is wonderful! I was looking for a good low cal/fat alternative blue cheese dressing and I believe I've found it!

I've always loved blue cheese the cheese but not the dressing, and this is so fresh it had completely won me over! must be because it tastes just like blue cheese, rather than preservatives 🙂

  69. I make this all the time and I have to say thank you thank you thank you for a low fat salad dressing that tastes amazing and is made of ingredients i always have around!

  70. I've made this dressing before and it is delicious! Makes you think you're indulging, when you really aren't. I do have a question though: how long do you think this will last in the refrigerator after it's made? I'd like to make a batch and have it on hand.

  71. This is excellent! I even went lower and used low fat blue cheese crumbles from Sunny Select and it was fantastic! Thank you Thank you Thank you

  72. I thought this came out very tasty. I halfed the recipe and used this on a buffalo chicken wrap that I made. Definitely better than the store bottle at 120 cal for 2 tbsp and so much more fresher.

  73. This dressing it fantastic!! Even my boyfriend agreed that it's the best blue cheese dressing he's ever tasted. I went back to the grocery for more yogurt today so I can double the recipe tonight and have plenty to have on hand for salads and dip!!

  74. I just made this to go with your buffalo stuffed chicken breast and am floored!! I will never eat bottled blue cheese dressing again! Thanks again for another hit that's full of flavor and easy on the hips!! 🙂

  75. This was delicious with your Buffalo Chicken Wraps, and with a salad the next day. We'll definitely make this again!

  76. This dressing is delicious, does not taste lo cal at all!! And only 1 WW point for 2 TBS. I've finally found my dressing!

  77. I made this dressing last night and was totally blown away by how much it tastes like full fat, luscious bleu cheese dressing. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I made this tonight and it is outta sight!!! Delicious, and doesn't taste low fat funky at all!! Thanks again, Gina.

  79. I kind of cringed when I read that it used both 1 Tablespoon of vinegar and lemon juice. It was just way too sour for me. I thinned it out with a little milk, but the flavor just did not do it for me. I guess I'll try the milk and sour cream idea. Sorry, Gina.

  80. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this dressing! I've been using it as a dip for my veggies, as well as a dressing for my salads. It tastes great, is low in Points and I don't even miss my fat-filled dressings with this recipe around. Thank you SO much for all your fabulous recipes. You're quite amazing! 🙂

  81. Made this the other day. It is the best blue cheese dressing I have ever tasted. I had it three days in a row on lettuce wedges. My whole family loved it . From now on it will be the only blue cheese dressing I will ever use. Followed the recipe to the letter and it did not separate even after being in the fridge for three days.

  82. Hi Gina, New to your blog and really can't wait to try lots of recipes. I did try the bleu cheese dressing last night, and like another commenter, it was very tangy and it was thick. Do you have any suggestions for how to counter those two things? Thank you so much! I just love bleu cheese dressing but couldn't eat it before due to high fat and calories!!

  83. Reading the above comments makes me LOL because after I made and tried this dip last night i thought "this is the best blue cheese dressing I have ever had and I have had them all." Kudos to you, seriously.

  84. Gina, how long can this be kept in the fridge? I know fresh dressings don't last as long as their preservative-filled counterparts, but I'm not sure how much shorter their life-span is.

  85. I made this to go with my dinner salad and I am just floored! So yummy and flavorful. The low calories and fat grams are just an extra feature. Yum Yum Yum

  86. I made this today and it is unbelieveable. I made it with FF Greek yogurt and reduced fat blue cheese crumbles. It was so good on my salad tonight. I can't wait to try it with wings!! thanks!! I love this website!!

  87. This dressing is divine. Made it for Super Bowl dinner to go with carrots and celery. Unreal! Hard to stop at one serving though. Used FF Greek yogurt as others suggested. If you like blue cheese, you have to try this! Does not taste low fat at all.

  88. This is a keeper! My husband loves blue cheese and he couldn't believe it was low fat. As did other reviewers, I made this with Greek FF yogurt. We had this with carrots and celery as a dip – the only hard part is stopping at one serving size 🙂

  89. I'm new to your blog, tonight we made 3 of your recipes! They were awesome! My husband can't stand blue cheese dressings, and I LOVE it, but not the low cal ones! This one was so good! Even approved by my blue cheese-hater husband! I did use fat free greek yogurt, and it was perfect! Thanks for the great website!

  90. I am a HUGE blue cheese dressing lover….but trying to watch my calorie intake kind of makes this dressing a non-option…..UNTIL NOW!! Made this dressing today and it was AWESOME!! Can't wait to have a salad again tomorrow for lunch to add this deliciousness to it!

  91. My husband and I LOVED this recipe, and he usually hates "low-fat" versions of dressings. I used nonfat Greek yogurt and a vegan low-fat mayo. He did comment on the tanginess, but I think the minor modifications I suggest on my blog would take care of that. I'm looking forward to trying more of your recipes!

  92. Used this on iceberg wedges. It was super tangy! Maybe I measured something wrong? I used a bit of sugar to counter the sour and my family was able to eat it along with me. Thanks for all your wonderful posts!

  93. Thank you, I just made this and completely impressed my in-laws.

    : )

Made mini wedge salads as a fantastic side to the Kalua Pork sandwiches.

  94. This is dressing is amazing. I made it the other night and let it sit for 24 hours so it can all mix well together. Oh wow I will make this again for sure. Thank You for the recipe, I have been trying to find a low point dressing but could not find one that I like.

  95. I made this with feta last night and a friend made the blue cheese! We shared – Both delish and wonderful – out for some iceberg and tomatoes and bacon – for a beautiful wedge salad. Thanks for all these great recipes!

  98. Fabulous recipe and definitely going to try it, but recheck the carb count. If it's 41 calories it couldn't be 29 carbs (that's 116 calories alone). Maybe 2.9?

  99. This was so delicious. I added just a bit of non fat milk to make it a little thinner. I also used FF greek yogurt.

Gina, what do you think about using feta instead of blue cheese? I thought it would be pretty comparable in flavor, but have some doubts. Thanks!

  101. I just made this and it is awesome! Being on WW I miss the creamy dressings. This is fantastic. I used ff greek yogurt since I didn't have the other and it was great! Made our favorite salad, the wedge. Thanks again Gina!

  102. Mmmm I just made this!! It is DELISH! I have Buffalo skinless Chicken Breasts baking in the oven and made a nice bath of Blue Cheese to with. I also made a yummy Spinach Salad as well because I don't typically keep iceberg on hand. Dinner will be yummy tonight! (if I stop dipping carrots in it!!)

  103. Is that correct on the carb amount? Seems like a lot to me. So will this not work with a low carb diet?

  104. I read this recipe yesterday…and knew I wanted to make it last night. I ran to the store and got "all" the ingredients so I could make it. BUT I forgot the vinegar. So I made it as you suggested with adding the same amount of water as you would vinegar. Turned out delicious. AND, I added only 1/2 of the blue cheese and left out the salt. I was awesome. No doubt that Gina's recipe made properly is better, but I thought mine was tasty…and probably an smidge less in points 🙂

  105. I just made this for tonights dinner…buffalo chicken drumsticks and I am going to make a wedge salad! So excited and it tastes sooooo good!

  106. Made this tonight and loved it! Tasted light but decadent. Can't wait to eat leftovers with veggies tomorrow at work! Yum!

  107. @Sharon, yes! Buttermilk and sour cream work well too.

@myra- that's strange, it should remain creamy, even the next day. Not sure what went wrong. I never had that problem, in fact I have a fresh batch in my fridge from yesterday and it's fine.

  108. I made this and it tasted great. The problem was I mixed it, covered it and placed it in the fridge while I made the salad. Some kind of chemical reaction occurred and when I took it out (about 30 minutes later), the conisstency had broken down and it was now as thin as water. Did I do something wrong?

    1. myra — I was having the same problem. I found a tip somewhere that said you should keep your dressing in a mason jar, or any glass jar for that matter, and it has since worked for me! Not sure what the reasoning is…

  109. I made this tonight and I thought it was a good start but too 'yogurty'. Another low fat recipe uses 2 oz yogurt, 2 oz fat free sour cream and 2 oz buttermilk. I may try that variation next time. I also added fresh tarragon as new shoots are just poking up.

  110. I like the idea of added roasted spring onions!! This is a much healthier alternative to traditional blue cheese dressing. Hope you all like it!

  111. Wow!! This sounds yummy! My husband is on WW, and his all-time fav dressing is Bleu Cheese, so… he'll love this!
I'm loving your blog, and am a subscriber. Keep the yummy goodness coming!

  112. OMG! I'm going to try this out right away! I only want to ever have blue cheese dressing…with everything!

  113. i make one similar but reduce make it healthier. it's amazing! skip the mayo. mix in olive oil. also, use non-fat greek yogurt instead of plain yogurt.

sometimes if i plan ahead, i actually roast spring onions (chopped) or green onions (chopped) w/ olive oil and then mix that into the blue cheese dressing (no need to double up on the EVOO). i always get rave reviews on that one!

I *love* blue cheese, but I don't love the calories. I can't wait to try this. It looks and sounds delicious!

This sounds fantastic – and so simple to make! Blue Cheese is one of my favourite dressings – it has such a flavour punch
