Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan Recipe
If you don’t have an air-fryer, you can follow my baked chicken parmesan recipe here. I brush the chicken with melted butter or oil instead of using egg before the breadcrumbs to give it that “fried” taste without frying. To see some of my other air-fryer recipes, click here.
Air Fryer Tips For Success
To Preheat or Not To Preheat!
Although not all models have a preheat function, I find to get consistent results each time, preheating the air fryer for 3 minutes. If you air fryer doesn’t come with a preheat function, simply set the air fryer, with the basket inserted for 3 minutes, to the temperature you plan on using, just a few minutes before you plan on cooking your food. If you wish to skip this step, you can add 2 to 3 minutes to the cook time.
Don’t Overcrowd the Basket
It’s best to cook food in a single layer so the air circulates and browns your food. If it doesn’t fit, cook food in batches to avoid overcrowding the basket preventing it from turning crisp.
Flip Halfway
In most cases, flipping your food over halfway is essential to evenly cooked and browned food on both sides, since the heating element is usually at the top. Smaller foods like French fries or vegetables, shaking the basket a few times rather than flipping, will get everything evenly browned and crisp.

I’m getting an air fryer for Christmas and I can’t wait to use it to make this recipe
I’ve made this delicious recipe for my husband – and we truly devoured it. I just moved into a new home and I’m having family over (7 adults). Could I possibly make the “fried” cutlets in the air fryer ahead of time – and then kinda re-warm them and then top with sauce/cheese? The thing I loved was how juicy and crispy they were – just wondered if could possibly still make that work? Just trying to minimize time with everyone in the kitchen standing around watching my every move? 🙂 A million thanks!
Sure!
This was a very easy and delicious recipe!
Is cook time and temp the same for a toaster oven style air fryer? This sounds so yummy!
I have the Cuisinart air fryer toaster oven (LOVE IT!) and while I haven’t yet made this recipe- I’m prepping now and cooking it tomorrow- I do know that I have to lower the baking temp by 50 degrees. Not quite sure with air frying, though. I’d recommend a Smart Meat Thermometer. It’s worth every penny when you consider it saves dinner from getting burnt! I recently bought one and love that I can be away from the kitchen and the device will alert me when my food has reached a preset temperature 😁
Not sure if it was just me, but the breading didn’t really stick. I think I’ll use an egg next time!
One of our favorites! Easy and delicious. We pair with noodles and zoodles for a healthy weeknight meal. So yummy!
This is the first recipe I made this using my new Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid, which can be intimidating at first. The recipe was easy to follow, really quick and very delicious.
Perfect!!
Yum! I added some seasoning to the Panko/parm (Italian blend and cayenne), paired it with a basil tomato sauce that I had in the cupboard and the result was absolutely delicious. Thanks for another fab recipe!
Oops should also mention I flipped, cooked for 3 mins before the sauce/cheese was added.
So delicious and easy!! My boyfriend loved it as well.
Made this tonight and we really enjoyed it. I wouldn’t hesitate to serve this to company. Thank you for posting this easy and delicious recipe.
